Best process to deliver QT to PC clients who don't have QT player?

Hello,
Since we edit with FCP, export to Quicktime, and a large number of clients use PC's that don't have a Quicktime player, what would the best process or way to deliver a video to them? Is there a great video converter out there without having to spend a lot of money? What process do you use to reveal your rough draft to clients? Any information to solve this would be appreciated.

Jordan, 99% of my end-users are PC users. I gave up trying to get them to play my QT files and always send them WMV. I always use Flip for Mac for this and it works flawlessly every time. Buy the least expensive version version and if you need more capability upgrade to a better package.
Just yesterday I sent my boss an H.264 for a Power Point presentation and even though he has OT installed on his computer, it still did not work. You can't fight the Microsoft!

Currently someone without InDesign can view each page (spread) of an InDesign document from the Files page at https://creative.adobe.com/files. They can also make comments.
To make changes to the file you do need to have InDesign installed.

Inventory Management - Best Processes Documentation

We have recently implemented SAP in our organization. And we have mapped as such our process in sap. Now we want to know either the our processes regarding Inventory Management are best or not. So I want to get the complete documentation of SAP best processes in inventory management. I have gone through the SAP Best Practices Base line package. The Documentation in this is very limited regarding inventory management. Can any one guide where we can get the complete documentation regarding SAP best processes for inventory management.

As you mentioned Implementation done in your organizations, If really comparison required by management - I suggest to go for a GAP analysis from any external firm. Inventory management is huge and based on real business requriements may be some best practices will not match client needs so accordingly changed or altered.

Advice or best practise information about 1 or 2 clients in SAP R/3 DEV

I'm searching for advice or best practise information about clients in a SAP R/3 development system.
Reason for this is that we are up to refresh our SAP R/3 development system and up to now we have two clients on it:
- One customizing/development client without master data, transaction data et cetera
- One local test client with master data, transaction data and so on
One of our developers suggested to only have one client on development, where we could customize, program and test. So that client would be with master data, transaction data et cetera.
What would be your advice or what would be best practise for the development system: 1 client (with data) or 2 clients (one clean customizing and one with data). And what are the most important reasons to do it so.
Maybe there is already some good (SAP) information about this specific subject, but up to now I havenu2019t found it yet.

Maybe I've asked my question too broad. I'll try to narrow it down.
Up to now we always had two clients on our SAP R/3 development system:
- Client 200 - Customizing/development only. No other data in this client
- Client 400 - Local test client with master data and transaction data. New customizing is copied from client 200 to test
The reason for having those two clients are:
- It feels someway good to have a customizing-only client
- We've always done this before
A developer suggested to only have one client in our SAP R/3 development system for the following reason:
- You'll never need to copy the customizing (tr.SCC1) first to be able to test it
- You can work in one client and don't need to login in the other client to test it (for example: ABAP reports)
- For customizing of easy setting (for example producthiërarchie, as we don't test it everytime in client 400) it is possible to forget copying it into client 400 (test client). With one client, you can not forget it
The reasons of this developer seems very valid and up to now we haven't found a convincing/compelling reason to make a good choice for one or two clients.
Please, try to convince us with good reasons to choose for one or two clients.

Best practice to run Microsoft Endpoint Protection client in VDI environment

We are using Citrix XenDesktop VDI environment. Symantec Endpoint Protection client (VDI performance optimised) has been installed on the “streamed to the clients” virtual machine image. Basically, all the files (in golden image) have been “tattooed” with
Symantec signature. Now, when the new VM starts, Symantec scan engine simply ignores “tattooed” files and also randomise scan times. This is a rough explanations but I hope you’ve got the idea.
We are switching from Symantec to Microsoft Endpoint Protection and I’m looking for any information and documentation in regards best practice for running Microsoft Endpoint Protection clients in VDI environment.

I see this post is a bt old but the organization I'm with has a very large VDI deployment using VMware. We also are using SCEP 2012 for the AV.
Did you find out what you were looking for or did you elect to take a different direction?
We install SCEP 2012 into the base image and manage the settings using GPO and the updates for defs are through the normal route.
Our biggest challenge is getting alert message from the client.

What is the best process for adding a long text scroll into a video?

I have an hour video and need to insert a narrated poem that will either scroll or have lines fade in / out. What is the best process to create that poem? Do I use Motion? Live Type? compose it directly in FCP? I'll have either a still image or a looping video for the background. Once I know the best starting point, then I'll refine my questions. The poem is about 4 minutes narrated. Appreciate any help to get me started.

In the effects window try "Scrolling Text". Set it to be the length you need it (duration) and paste in your text and render and see how you like it. I think scrolling text has a nice little fade at the top and bottom too.
Or, you can make the text an image in something like Photoshop and keyframe it to slowly move in FCP for the duration of the video.

Service entry approval process in MM-SRV-SUS by client engineer

Dear Experts,
We are implementing the service entry process in the classic scenario. In the new process, the service agent of the supplier will enter the service entry sheet from the SUS. Once triggering of the service entry sheet is completed, the service entry sheet will have the status of 'No Acceptance'.
Here comes the client requirement. The client wants to have two step approval process for service entry sheet. In the first step, the supervising engineer of the client will approve the service entry sheet. Then the next step of approval will be financial approval which will be done by the cost center manager.
In the existing process in SAP MM, the supervising engineer of the client enters the service entry sheet manually and goes through one step approval of the cost center/org unit manager approval. The existing approval process is implemented with release strategy available in ECC.
How can the new approval process be implemented? What characteristics should be used to enable the system to find the first level approver i.e. the supervising engineer? is it achievable through release strategy?
Any idea or thought will be highly appreciated.

In the Plan-Driven Procurement with Supplier Integration business scenario, you can use Supplier Self-Services (SUS) and SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) in conjunction with each other.
SAP MM is used as the procurement system, since this scenario involves the procurement of direct materials.
*This business scenario is not suitable for the procurement of services or indirect materials*
In other words are there any consequences for using the MM-SUS plan driven procurement scenario for services instead of direct materials?

If you have a need now and that need will remain serviceable long enough to justifying the investment, then go with Lion Server and do the Magic Triangle. This is nothing more than Binding OS X Server to your AD domain and kerberizing services. Then bind your workstations to AD first, then OD. Make sure you download Server Admin Tools for Lion. This gives access to Workgroup Manager. That is were you will manage your OS X Settings.
If you are managing more than 50 Macs that need a lot of continued management, then look at JAMF.

Yes, it's annoying but the messages are innocuous and you may ignore them. They will be repeated every time you repair permissions. The ARD client was installed by Software Update at some point in the past.
You don't need to repair permissions unless you've received a permissions error message from OS X.

I do exactly as Thomas Reed does. Always have from day one. Going on 15 months now and I get at least 10 hours of use out the battery every day. No matter how much juice is left on the device when I go to bed - I put the iPad on the charger - doesn't matter what the battery gauge says - I plug it in and let it charge all night.

Best way to move network profiles to client machines

I have a client who has a small network of minis and iMacs working off of an old G4 running OS X Leopard Server. They have been using networked profiles, but have recently decided to get away from them and go with a local profile on each computer.
What is the best way to safely move the networked profile data to each client? What I was thinking of doing was zipping each profile folder on the server, copying it to an external drive, then creating a local profile and copy/paste the data into that folder. However, I'm concerned about messing up data permissions.
Any hints?
