  • Best program for greeting cards

which is the best adobe program for layout or creating custom greeting cards? Something like publisher, where I can take the graphics created in photoshop place them in a card template or layout and give them to the printer to run off?

Hard to say, really. The forums are set up assuming people know the answer to the question you asked. Perhaps the Design discussion forum might be a place to start. Although now you have the answer I gave above: InDesign. You might want to visit there and take a look around at what people are talking about.
There was a discussion about how to do greeting cards in the last couple of days: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@@.3bbda6c9

  • Best business and greeting card software

Are there any suggestions out there for the best business and greeting card software for MacBook? I used to get PrintMaster, but I used that on my Windows side and would now prefer to use an Apple-based program. Thank you.

I don't think that this is the answer you were expecting, but, after trying various print programs, and not getting the look I wanted, I signed up for an online system called SendOutCards.  You can personalize real greeting cards printed on recycled paper with pictures you upload, text and art.  The system prints, stuffs, addresses and stamps the envelope and puts it into snail mail for you.  You can have it sent directly to the recipient or to you to hand to the recipient.  You can even include gift cards and the like.
A personalized card costs about $1 plus postage.  Much easier than fiddling with art layouts, special paper, colored ink etc.  You can even try the SendOutCards system for free.  Videos and information on the website:
    www.sendoutcards.com/b2b
    Hope this helps.
PS  The SendOutCards system does not support flash, but, there are some workarounds that are easy for use with Apple products.  Contact me if you have any questions.  I use it in both my personal and business lives and it is wonderful

  • What is the best product for keeping a mac pro running fast?

What is the best product for keeping my mac pro running at optimal speed?

Enough RAM. More than just so there are no pageouts.
A fast small SSD for boot system drive that is only OS and apps and 50% free
Backup clones of your system and data plus TimeMachine
Avoid security suites from 3rd parties and other would be helpers (unless instructed to for a specific need and purpose).
Replace and update older components. could be graphic card, no longer suffices wtih Lion, or causes heat and dust. And make sure that the fans cool the system properly. May need to boost the low default fan speed profile and that is one utility that can be a must. Also monitor system temp readings.
Don't jusst idly restart after a crash or freeze, use Lion Recovery Mode and Safe Boot instead.
Make backup clone before making updates and changes to your system.

  • What is the best product for using itunes only?

I am considering buying a laptop / notebook / ipad or whatever for using itunes only.  The goal would be to add all cd's to the product and then increase my collection via downloads only going forward.
Can anyone recommend the best product for this please?  I have an ipod nano and I'm new to the iphone, so I'm an Apple convert, although I'd consider a non-Apple product too (sorry Apple!).
    Budget is tight!
    Thanks in advance

Without a bit more info, it's hard to answer your question.
How many CD's do you intend to keep on the PC/Mac/iPad as an iPad has a maximum storage of aprox 55Gb's for the top model, whereas even a basic PC laptop is likely to have 150Gb plus of space. Plus you are going to need a PC/Mac to copy the CD's in the first place, unless you intend to buy all your music from the iTunes store.
For me I would look at either a MacBook if you can go to the £1000 price bracket, or look at a MacMini and cheap screen then transfer the music to your iPod/iPhone or sadly from a price point of view you may have to go the Windows route as a basic laptop will start at £400

  • What is the best product for network mapping and monitoring? I am an inexperienced user). Mac 10.9.2 laptop

I have lots of questions, but the gist is that I want to know the best product, preferably from the app store, that I can use for network mapping mapping and monitoring.
I want to get their mac address or other police trackable etc info so I can use my computer safely.
    I am also being cyberbullied.
I try just using ethernet but still get intruded on, for instance, messages that "other devices are using my ip address". The only other device I own is an iPod that I keep sahut off plus wifi turned off then.
(NOTE:  You can skip the rest of this message if you want. It regards hacking attempts etc,  a little out of the scope of discussion, perhaps).
Also a home intrusion where computer was thoroughly hacked with router(s) set up "very very close to me," according to Apple.
Also, hackers get into my Facebook and gmail and yahoo mail, really,  no matter what I try to do on my computer and how many times I change passwords it does no good.
Also,  The ip addresses for google and the one in syste preferences and the one looking up my ip address on ip chicken always gets three different results.
More worrisome it that hackers got into my Wells Fargo account a week after the intrusion even though I changed all account #'s and pw plus notified bank. They also broke into paypal using my new account numbers.
Also, stuff like Facetime pops up on my computer without my clicking on it even though I'm using ethernet to connect. I've given up on Time Capsule because I'm told that's how the hackers hacked my computer so thoroughly duriung the intrusion.
    Thanks.

    Aubry,
why don't you send your sequences straight to Compressor first, encode your movies as MPEG 2 and AC3 audio and import all assets in DVD studio PRO?

  • How do I print to both sides of paper for greeting card on Brother Printer

I did not find the answer on the forum. I have iLife 09 and this Brother MFC-790CW printer. I do not see any automatic setting for printing on both sides. I am using a iPhoto greeting card template and it looks OK with a page one for the front and a page two for the back.
Maybe the only way is to print out all the fronts pages (20) and then put the paper back in and print all the pages 2 (the text inside of the card). That seems like it would be faster than other ways, except automatic.
Obviously I should have done this a month ago and sent the project to Apple, but now I have no more time. Ii have the right paper for the one fold cards and plenty of ink

You need to have an image editor that supports layers. If you do follow the directions in these tutorials:
    #8 - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card
#8a - Printing a iPhoto Greeting Card to Standard Stock Sizes
Here are some editors that support layers:
Some Image Editors that support layers:
    Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac - $79
    GraphicConverter - $45
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
You might be able to use Pages instead of an image editor.

  • What is the best product for me?

Next year I will be a college student and want an apple product that can be my notebook. I currently use OneNote on a Toshiba tablet, but want to upgrade to apple. I know that apple does not make a tablet, but I figured I could get an ipad with a stylus for when I need to write things like math. I could also get one of those attachable keyboards for essays and such. Does this sound like a logical system for a college student? Can OneNote even be downloaded on an iPad? I've seen the styluses and they seem a bit weird, with a round rubber tip. It seems as though that isn't very efficient for writing as you wouldn't know exactly where what you draw would show up, am I right about that? If I am, I guess I would just get a normal Macbook and simply use paper for math class. Please let me know what you think would be the best system for me. Thank you!

  • Setting margins for Greeting Cards and centering image

When we try and set up printing a greeting card from iPhoto 6 on a portrait card the image is always too close to the right hand edge, i.e. there is a white margin between the image and the fold - and this margin is larger than the margin on the right hand (outer) edge of the image. How can we centre the image keeping it on the right hand side of the greeting card?
We tried using a custom paper from page setup - but the custom size dropped off the menu when we went into the print menu.
    Thank you.

    Dai the dig:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you have a 3rd party editor that supports layers you can print a card without any border. Look at Tutorial #8.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Software for greeting cards

I have no idea where to post my question, so I'll begin here.
Is there software available for Macs that will enable me to print my own greeting cards, e.g., birthday cards, thank you notes, get well cards, etc.?
    Thanks!
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

We’ve got a family business (small plug!: http:/www.richardwoodgate.internet-today.co.uk) producing a range of prints, laminated bookmarks and cards from original watercolour and acrylic paintings. The images used are all stored in iPhoto and then we print from iPhoto to our Epson printer in N-up format (Epson only setting?) which prints multiple images to a sheet - usually 6 or 9. We then cut them out by hand with a straight-edge/guillotine and use double sided tape to attach them to the front of the cards which we buy in from a wholesaler with matching envelopes and cellophane bags for display.
The book marks are produced in Pages - images and text are arranged and formatted before being ‘grouped’. Each bookmark is then duplicated to fill the sheet and then sent to print.
We are expanding into printing directly onto the front of cards and producing cards with messages inside. For the time being, we will be using some ‘in-house made’ Pages templates as and when our new printer arrives.
To be honest, it is a bit of a crude setup, but it works wonders, and the speed and efficiently of the Mac enables us to produce and market top-quality goods. Any image manipulation is done using The GIMP.

  • HELP REQUIRED FOR GREETING CARD SIZES IN PSE10

I've wasted hours trying to find  how to obtain 5" x 7" folded greeting card sizes.  The default menu only offers four sizes, all for flat cards but according to the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 "Classroom in a Book" I should be able to select a 5" x 7" folded postcard using "Shutterfly".  I have visited the "Shutterfly"website but it appears to only support US/Canada residents.  Any suggestions, other than moving to the USA/Canada, on to how to overcome this problem would be most welcome.

Suggest that you enhance your picture file in Elements, then save it.
Use a program such as WORD, and utilize templates which can be downloaded from http://www.avery.com.
    For example, #3378 is a Half-Fold card, 5.5 x 8.5", designed for their paper stock. http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Search/?dimsearch=true&N=0&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty= 0&Nr=AND%28SITESCHANNELS%3AAvery.com%29&Ntt=3378&x=16&y=7
Insert the picture, add your text, and you're ready to go.

  • Any video tutorials for "Greeting Card Shop?"

Hello.  I just purchased Greeting Card Shop from the Mac App store as a viable alternative to my PC version of The Print Shop.  There are no directions.  Are there any video tutorials for this program (a la "Video Professor")?  Thank you.

There's Mac 101 which contains many short videos on various features. And also Switch 101
