Best program to create projects in the CMYK profile?

I create advertisements for a local business and need a program that I can create in the CMYK profile for the newspaper. All I currently own is the photoshop elements 7 program which does not have this feature. Besides the new CC program, which would work the best for me? Any suggestions?

For CMYK print, I use Photoshop Extended, Illustrator (vector images), InDesign and Acrobat Pro -- all of which are available in the Creative Cloud Full Plan.

  • While creating Projects Using the API, get two errors: 'Customer name must be passed' and 'class category is invalid'

    Hi
While trying to Create Projects using the API, I'm getting two types of errors -
The first is : 'API failed in one stage 1 Customer Name is a mandatory Quick Entry field. Value must be passed'
    The second is : '
'API failed in one stage 1 Project: '<Project_Number>'
    The class category is invalid.'
Both the messages are produced by our custom program. .. however I am not able to understand why the underlying errors occur.
The first error ( Customer Name is a mandatory quick entry field), is caused by Projects that are to be created from Project templates where it is configured with Quick Entry Customer Name required. We are passing Customer Site number ( Party Bill to site number and Party Ship to side number). The site numbers being passed are also set as 'Primary'. Yet they are failing.
For the second Error ( The Class Category is invalid), I rechecked multiple times, the Class categories for the Projects I am trying to create, with the Config in R12 and they are fine. Can't understand the reason for these two issues. Has anyone encountered such an issue ? If so how was it resolved?
    Regards
    Vivek

    HI All
I resolved both the issues. In case there are others facing similar issues, following was the cause and resolution of my errors
    1. Error 1: Customer Name is a Mandatory Quick Entry field. Value must be passed.
The cause was that the data loaded into our custom staging table was not in the right fields. This was because the data file values and the CTL were not in sync.
    Resolution:
Corrected the data file to be in Sync with the structure defined in the CTL and  this loaded it successfully
    2. Error 2: The class category is invalid.
The cause of this error was that  in the  Projects Template (used to create the project from), the Quick Entry setup had a Class Category set as required and I was not passing a value ( a class code value) for that Class Category.
    Hope this helps somebody else
    Cheers

  • Can't create Project from the Template or access project template

    Dear Experts,
We are facing a issue while trying to access the project template/create the project from project template.
we have 4 project template in place and of these two are working perfectly fine but
From remaining two we are not being able to create project and even templates are not accesible , whenever we are trying to access the project template system rotates a circle for some time and keeps us on the same page.
Even when we are trying to create project from the same template, system does the same again rotates the circle for some time and keeps us on the same screen.
And System is not throwing any error for the same (we have checked in the log as well) just not letting us in and not allowing us to create project.
Any Help Will be Highly Appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rakesh Daiya

    Dear Experts,
We were able to find out the issue,
We added 3 groups to the template with "Reviewer" access with "Document Only" Type in the project template.
When we changed the type to "Template and Document" from "Document Only" and  system started allowing us to create projects from the template.
Can anyone please help me with one query,
Can we add a group(which includes all the buyers) with reviewer access and with Document only type?
Does this really be a reason behind projects are not getting created from template?
    Any help will be appreciated
    Regards,
    Rakesh Daiya

  • What is the best program to create a HD 1080p slideshow?

A little advice on what the best program is for creating high quality HD (1080p) slide shows from hires jpegs.  I'm not at all interested in burning the slideshows to DVD.
Until now I've used iMovie HD 6, iMovie '09, and  iPhoto on our mac mini that runs SnowLeopard.
With iMovie  HD 6 the transitions (cross dissolve and overlap) come out quite un-smooth look bad.  Also HD 6 will not do 1080p, only 1080i.
With iMovie '09  photos that are portrait oriented (as opposed to landscape) often get poorly cropped.
iPhoto simply does not have the editing flexibility I need.
I've tried the demo version of Fotomagico and although the resulting slideshow is stunning, on my machine the program is almost impossible to work with because of its sluggishness.  It is painfully slow in responding to all mouse moves. Dragging an image on the Stage is very difficult because the image lags behind the mouse so by the time the little green alignment guides come on to show center or edge alignment -- the image is already past that point.  There is also a huge lag changing images on the stage.   Also the spinning color wheel appears way too frequently.
Photo to Movie, based on their website, Photo to Movie can produce HD quality video.  Does anyone have any experience in comparing Photo to Movie with any of the iMovies?
Other than FCP, what do you folks think is best slideshow program for producing 1080p shows?

Ditto what Matthew said about Photo to Movie.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • Best program to create slideshow for inserting into DVD Studio Pro project?

I will be creating my final DVD in DVD Studio Pro soon and want to add an appealing slideshow as well.  Before wasting my time, yet again, can somebody suggest the best program to use in order to bring it into DVD Studio Pro please?
    Thank you.
    Mitaka27

Be aware that a there is a difference between a video that consists of a slideshow, and what DVDs consider a slideshow.
If you want a DVD slideshow, then I suggest taking a look at one of the Lord of the Rings Extended Release DVDs. On the two extra discs with each movie there are plenty of DVD slideshows. With a DVD slideshow you can go forward or back through the slideshow. You can stay on any slide as long as you like. A slide can contain audio. Audio cannot carry over from one slide to another. There is no transitions from one slide to another.
What I suspect is that you want a video that acts like a slideshow. In that case, do not use the slideshows in DVD SP at all. Create your video outside of DVD SP, then just place it in a Track and treat it as any other video.
That being said, do you want a lot of control over how the video slideshow is created, or do you want a program that will do most of the work for you at the expense of not having absolute control over how things are put together? If you want full control then create your video slideshow in FCP/Motion. If you want a program that will do a lot of the work for you, then you should look into iPhoto. It can create some pretty spectacular slideshows very easily, but you will not have the full control you have with FCP.

  • What is the best program to create a price list in?

What is the best program to design a price list please.

I would use a spreadsheet to keep a current price list for my own use. If I wanted to print a price list for distribution to customers, I would take the current prices from the spreadsheet and paste them into a template from a word processor program, such as Word or Pages.

  • What is the best program for creating cd inserts for coverart of a  CD?

I am in a band and need to know the best program for cd artwork.

If you're more concerned about designing them than about printing them yourself (which would cost a comparative fortune using an inkjet printer, and look crummy using a color laser printer), then Photoshop and Illustrator are by far the best design tools available.

  • I've been using FCP 7 on my iMac for quite some time with great success.  Lately I created a new project and the browser window does not format properly (it's O.K. for previously created projects). The effects window is also not displaying properly.

Help! My browser window is suddenly not formatting properly. (losing browser formatting, glitch, bug)  I'm using FCP 7 on an iMac with OS X 10.8.5 and have been successfully doing so for a couple of years.  I fear my Final Cut Pro is corrupt and I have to re-install. Anyone ever see this problem? Old projects display and behave fine in the browser, but any new project I create, totally loses the formatting in the browser and the browser also does not display the "effects" window properly anymore. (see below)

YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!  I reinstalled the program and everything. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! MY HERO!!!

  • FAQ: Are there best practices for building projects within the 20 page/state limit?

The 20 page/state limit in Flash Catalyst is there to prevent Catalyst (and your finished application) from running slowly. You can however build efficient applications that have more than 20 states by using custom components. Custom components can contain states as well; so by creating an app that has several states, and using custom components that have states, you can get more unique views of your app while keeping it efficiently built.
    Try this:
    1. Select some of your arwork where you need more states. Right click and choose "Convert to Custom Component"
    2. Double-click to edit the custom component. Note that you can now create states in the custom component. Try creating a few states here.
    3. To exit editing the component, double click a blank area on the artboard.
    4. If you try creating an "On click transition to state" interaction now you will see that you can choose from both the states of the application as well as the states of the custom component.

Here's an ASCII diagram to illustrate one way of pushing application or top-level pages/states down into a custom component:
    Before:
    State1     State2     State3     State4     State5     State6     State7...
After (project refactored to push three top-level states down into a custom component):
    State1     State2     State3      State7...
                        |
      Custom Component
    State4     State5     State6
For some projects this can be an inconvenient workaround, and for others it can really clean things up by reducing complexity. If you have several top-level pages in your app that are completely different than other pages (for example, they don't share any objects with the other states) than pushing these down into a custom component makes things a lot more manageable in Catalyst. The layers panel, for example, shows all objects across all states-- this is useful when your states share many objects. If however, your states don't share a lot of objects, the layers panel can get a bit unmanageable. Refactoring into a custom component allows you to fix this by grouping content into a container.

  • Best Program to Create Flyers

I am looking for the best program to make flyers. I suck at drawing and I make a lot of flyers, so I was wondering it there is any program that is awesome for doing that. Even if I could just do some of the things I can do on paint, it would be better then the stuff I can do on WordMac.. maybe I'm just ******** but I cant even figure out how to crop stuff with that.

the best program to make flyers
You might like to try out 'Pages', which should be in your /Applications/iWork06 folder, for layout; it has some nice Templates and features.

  • LR4 softproof for CMYK: is there a way?  Specifically, cannot find the CMYK profiles.

In LR4, how do you select CMYK as a softproofing option?  The "Profile > other" option does not list any CMYK optoin like Photoshop does.

CMYK profiles are not supported in Lr and are not displayed.
Lr is a (proPhoto-derivative) RGB application "from the ground up", and I remember one Adobe employee saying that in all likelihood Lr will never support CMYK.
For CMYK softproofing you have to use Photoshop.

  • What is the best program to create professional slideshows?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm only using stills.
I've just started a trial of (my first Adobe product) Premiere Elements 13. Finding it slower to learn than some easier to use slideshow software I've trialed.
I want to be able to hi-light specific sentences in images of letters (i.e. darken out the rest of letter), as well as several transition options and a lot of customization/control over all.
Is there another Adobe product i.e. Premiere Pro, or something else, or is Premiere Elements the best professional slideshow choice from Adobe? Or any other software company you might suggest?

Premiere elements is a watered down version of it big brother premiere pro. Both can be used for slide shows. But can be a bit overkill of that feature.
Basically you need to set key frames for the animation. a start keyframe which tells the program where it should start from and an end keyframe where it needs to end. This can be scale, move, rotate, skew, etc.
To darken a letter you could have a dark background then adjust the opacity which would as above, a keyframe for 100% opacity and a keyframe of say 30% opacity. Since the letter is more transparent the darker it would become.
But that is just an example.
For full control of letters, you may find flash or After effect better but since all of them are capable it is up to you.
