Best Projector for MIRRORING in both platforms (OS X / WIN)

We have computer labs that need to project (MIRROR) the instructors screen in MAC OS X or VISTA (Boot Camp). We have the Intel C2D 24" iMacs with the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT video in some labs and QC Intel XEON Mac Pros with the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT connected to a ViewSonic VP191b in the other labs
Would purchasing a NATIVE High Def (1920 X 1080 or 1280 X 720) serve both platforms best?

I have Epson Projectors in my labs. Projecting on a white wall is sufficient for me.

  • Best practice for skinning a cross-platform action bar in flex mobile

what is the best way for skinning (mxml skin) an action bar with is diffrent in height and icon between andorid and Iphone apps?
can i find somewhere a sample for skinning (spark skin in mxml) an action bar?

I was just dealing with this today on my app, which also has a view with a video object, netstream, netconnection, etc.  I was seeing a lot of memory leakage on my device, which then caused the app to crash on the device due to it running out of memory.
    here's what I suggest:
-Clean up, close and null all netconnection objects when leaving the view.  You should also null all video objects as well.  Anything additional that you might have instantiated in actionscript instead of the view mxml.
-The View will take care of discarding its components, any subviews that are present.
If you have FlashBuilder Premium you can use the Flex Profiler to see memory usage of your app when running in the simulator.  If you're still seeing problems you can use that tool to diagnose your memory usage

  • Best Practice for Installation of Both Leopard and Aperture 2 upgrade.

I've finally bought the bullet and purchased both Leopard and Aperture 2.0 upgrade. I've tried searching for a best practice to install both, but haven't been able to find one--only trouble shooting type stuff. Any suggestions, things to avoid, etc would be greatly appreciated. Even a gentle shove to a prior thread would be helpful. . . .
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    • First be really sure that all your apps work well with 10.5.3 before you leave 10.4.11, which is extraordinarily stable.
    • Immediately prior to and immediately after every installation of any kind (OS, apps, drivers, etc.) got to Utilities/Disk Utility/First Aid, and Repair Permissions. Repairing Permissions is not a problem fixer per se, but anecdotally many folks with heavy graphics installations (including me) who follow that protocol seem to maintain better operating environments under the challenge of heavy graphics than folks who do not diligently do so.
    • When you upgrade the OS do a "clean install."
    • RAM is relatively inexpensive and 2 GB RAM is limiting. I recommend adding 4x2 GB RAM. One good source is OWC: http://www.owcomputing.com/.
    • After you do your installations check for updates to the OS and/or Aperture, and perform any upgrades. Remember to Repair Permissions immediately prior to and immediately after the upgrade installations.
    • If you are looking for further Aperture performance improvement, consider the Radeon HD 3870. Reviews at http://www.barefeats.com/harper16.html and at http://www.barefeats.com/harper17.html.

  • What's the best practices for mirroring a (symetric) vector design?

ok, say I'm making a detailed user icon (persons head and shoulders) for some icons, etc that need to scale from icons to general graphics for web and print.
I can create the silhouette easily by tracing around my pencil sketch or making it up on the spot. now, I'm just wondering as I've used maya (3d) in the past and i could work on one side, while the otherside (x) is being created as a pseudo copy until I make it an independant shape. Is there a way at all to do this kind of thing in illustrator CS4? what steps would you guys take to make something like this that is totally symetric? (I'm always getting stuck on this when in a hurry)...could you explain it step by step?
    thanks for any tips!

You can do this with a transform effect, set to reflect, 1 copy.
In the appearance panel select the path and save this as a style which can be applied to new paths as you draw.

  • What is the best overhead projector for a new 13" MacBook Pro

What is the best overhead projector for a new retina display macbook pro?

The key issue you should be worried about is what's the best projector for the intended room/environment/audience you will be projecting from/to. The Mac is just a content provider and will always exceed the resolution capabilities of all projectors in the market so will have to downgrade its output to suit their reduced capabilities.
Only thing you may want to make sure is that the projector have digital HDMI input. That way you can plug the Retina in with just a cable and not need to purchase any intervening adapter dongle prone to failure or misplacement.

  • Best practice for managing a Windows 7 deployment with both 32-bit and 64-bit?

What is the best practice for creating and organizing deployment shares in MDT for a Windows 7 deployment that has mostly 32-bit computers, but a few 64-bit computers as well? Is it better to create a single deployment share for Windows 7 and include both
versions, or is it better to create two separate deployment shares? And what about 32-bit and 64-bit versions of applications?
I'm currently leaning towards creating two separate deployment shares, just so that I don't have to keep typing (x86) and (x64) for every application I import, as well as making it easier when choosing applications in the Lite Touch installation. But I know
each deployment share has the option to create both an x86 and x64 boot image, so that's why I am confused.

Supporting two task sequences is way easier than supporting two shares. Two shares means two boot media, or maintaining a method of directing the user to one or the other. Everything needs to be imported or configured twice. Not to mention doubling storage
space. MDT is designed to have multiple task sequences, why wouldn't you use them?
Supporting multiple task sequences can be a pain, but not bad once you get a system. Supporting app installs intelligently is a large part of that. We have one folder per app install, with a wrapper vbscript that handles OS detection. If there are separate
binaries, they are placed in x86 and x64 subfolders. Everything runs from one folder via the same command, "cscript install.vbs". So, import once, assign once, and forget it. Its the same install package we use for Altiris, and we'll be using a Powershell
version of it when we fully migrate to SCCM.
Others handle x86 and x64 apps separately, and use the MDT app details to select what platform the app is meant for. I've done that, but we have a template for the vbscript wrapper and its a standard process, I believe its easier. YMMV.
Once you get your apps into MDT, create bundles. Core build bundle, core deploy bundle, Laptop deploy bundle, etcetera. Now you don't have to assign twenty apps to both task sequences, just one bundle. When you replace one app in the bundle, all TS'es are
updated automatically. Its kind of the same mentality as active directory. Users, groups and resources = apps, bundles and task sequences.
If you have separate build and deploy shares in your lab, great. If not, separate your apps into build and deploy folders in your lab MDT share. Use a selection profile to upload only your deploy side to production. In fact I separate everything (except
drivers) into Build and deploy folders on my lab server. Don't mix build and deploy, and don't mix Lab/QA and production. I also keep a "Retired" folder. When I replace an app, TS, OS, etcetera, I move it to the retired folder and append "RETIRED - " to the
front of it  so I can instantly spot it if it happens to show up somewhere it shouldn't.
To me, the biggest "weakness" of MDT is its flexibility. There's literally a dozen different ways to do everything, and there's no fences to keep you on the path. If you don't create some sort of organization for yourself, its very easy to get lost as things
get complicated. Tossing everything into one giant bucket will have you pulling your hair out.

It will show pictures and videos if I choose, Start Slideshow, but it won't show anything else, no apps, etc.
Here's a few examples of the reviews which state it mirrors:

I bought this for video analysis presentations with an app on the phone, so this is a key feature for me.
    Any help is appreciated.

I also have not figured out how to mirrow either.  I ask you both, is the sound via the projector louder than the phone itself when projector is tuerned off?  No matter what I do the max vilume through the projector speakers is lower that the phone itself even with phone remaining installed in projector.  I am think of taking it back to try another one.

  • Best practice for using both devices

    Hello,
I currently have a mac book pro and mac pro that I use for my editing.  My questions are as follows:
    * Best way to import / export photos for use on both devices
    * Is there a way to sync catalogs on both computers so they are able to update on thier own
    * best way to maintain integrity of the photos (edits) when moving them from computer to computer.
I appreciate any help that is available!
    Thanks,
    Chris

There have been a number of threads on this issue, that probably give more detail, but this is what I would do
Put the photos and catalog on an external HD, and move that back and forth from mac book pro to mac pro. Then you have one catalog, and one set of photos (plus backups somewhere else) that are being used.
There is no catalog sync facility in Lightroom.
If you need to travel light, and can't bring an external disk, then the photos and catalog must be on an internal disk; and you could move photos and catalog from one computer to another using the external HD (when you get home) and the Lightroom command File->Export as Catalog; followed by physically transferring the catalog and photos to the other computer; followed by File->Import from Another Catalog.

  • What's the best solution for audio out of sound files from a MacBook Air to both an amplifier and to a subwoofer amplifier? I'm using the MBA to play sound files for worship services at our church.

I have a MacBook Air (13", 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD) that I'll be using to play sound files (primarily organ and piano) for worship services at my church. We'll be using a QSC RMX2450 650 Watts/Channel amplifier with Community CPL-27 speakers and also a JBL SUB 250P powered subwoofer with its own amplifier. What's the best option for getting sound out from the Mac to both of these amplifiers?

if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...
so again, i hope you have some ideas now

  • Best practice for making a mirror of the system disk

I've got an HP ML115 machine that I'm installing Solaris 10 on. It has four disks: a 160GB (boot drive), a 300GB spare, and two 1.5TB drives. I've made a mirrored pool of the two 1.5TB drives. I'd like to create a mirror of the 160GB boot drive (I realise I'll lose some space). However, I'm unsure of how to do this. Attempting to create a mirror (zpool create -f bootmirror c0t0d0 c0t1d0) tells me that the partitions are mounted.
Any ideas on what the best way to achieve this is, please?

What filesystem type is root currently UFS or ZFS.
If its currently UFS, you will have to use SVM for mirroring. A UFS root can't be converted to a ZFS root.
If its already a ZFS root just not mirrored, it should be simple. Just add the disk to the pool to "promote" it to mirrored.
You do that with a zpool attach command.

  • Lightroom for Both Platforms

Hopefully this coming week I will be purchasing an iMac for my photography needs. I also own a windows based laptop. So my intention is to purchase a box copy (not download) of Lightroom 2.5.
To date I,ve not seen Lightroom for windows only or Lightroom for iMac OS only. So the the question I ask is are both platforms supported on the one disc and can I load up Lightroom on the iMac and Lightroom on the Laptop (windows) or is this going to mean two purchases.

If you have any version of LR 2.x the up grade to the latest version is free. So if you already have a license you are good to go. The upgrade will overwrite the previous version so there is no need to uninstall.
The Mac version will not install on the PC so you can burn to a cd and Install on the Mac when it arrives.
