Best resolution for recording

What is the best resolution to record at to accomodate user who have 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768?  We don't want the users to have to scroll to see the entire screen.

I've been building demos and sims for US Air Force personnel for a short while and I've found that projects published at 1024 X 768 fits most monitors when they're published as a PDF.
Short of canvassing all potential students out there I have to watch closely for complaints...

  • Best resolution for different screen sizes?

    Hi,
I just created a project and several of the viewers complained that they had to scroll horizontally in order to view the movie.
What is the best resolution to record my next project in so as to ensure that no user will have to scroll (neither vertically or horizontally) to see the contents?
Alternatively, is there some type of feature that automatically adjusts the contents to the viewer's screen?
    Thanks very much in advance.

    Hi there
I think many folks use 800x600 as a common size.
Choosing the "Best" resolution is nearly always a bit of an art form. You need to consider the lowest common denominator. For example, are your tutorials intended for senior citizens? If so, then you need to consider that they may be running an older computer configured for a smaller resolution.
There are ways to coax the video to play back at whatever resolution is available, but they all will involve a sacrifice in quality. This is because any time you play back your project at a different size than it was recorded, the quality will suffer. The degree to which it suffers depends entirely on how much scaling is happening. Scale just a little and it's not too bad. Scale a lot and things go downhill.
One way to allow scaling is to link to the .SWF instead of the .HTM that is produced. Another way is to edit the HTML page Captivate creates. Remove the pixel values and insert percentages.
    Cheers... Rick

  • What is the best resolution for pics in the drop zones of idvd?

What is the best resolution for pics in the drop zones of iDVD?
Also: iDVD always seems to align a pic to the left, can I change this anywhere?
    thanks

    Hello, Hans.
Re: drop zone pic resolution - I generally don't go below 1000 pixels wide (iDVD will resize these images to a slightly smaller format, but I've controlled the largest part of the downsizing in Photoshop Elements).
The alignment in iDVD is goofy.  The best I've achieved is trial and error -- adding blank background or cropping my image in the downsizing process (see above) to position my image.

  • I need a digital voice recorder best suited for recording my voice for chorus and quartet rehearsals

I'm looking for a small digital Sony voice recorder best suited for recording singing for chorus and quartet rehearsals.  I received model ICD-AX412 but don't think that's the right one for this. I found a couple other models PCMD50 and PCMM10 online but want to know what to get!

    Hello Carol,
    Welcome to Sony Community.
When recording a chorus place the IC recorder on a table approximately 2 to 3 meters (80 to 120 in.) from the performer(s).
Set up the IC recorder with the display window facing up, and with the built-in microphones pointing towards the sound source.
Refer to page # 34 of the Manual (ICD-AX412) about placing the IC Recorder for recording chorus.
Also, select the Recording scene as “Lecture” for recording a chorus lesson.
You can refer to page # 32 and 33 of the Manual to select the recording scene.
Please mark it as "Accepted Solution" if you find this information useful.
    Regards,
    Colby

  • Best Resolution for 8" Digital Photo Frame

What is best resolution to scan 2-1/4" medium format B&W negative film for display on an 8" DPF with a resolution of 800x600 pixels?

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
120 film inherently will have a lot of detail on it (after all it's still used by professionals) so you don't want to miss anything - 3200 dpi is probably a good setting for a scanner. It's always best to have a high resolution master which you can make smaller sized copies of afterward.

  • Best resolution for mini connect to my home theater TV

    Good afternoon.
I have a 47" Panasonic HDTV (Widescreen). I would like to integrate my Intel Mini into my home theater.
What would be the best resolution to set the mini at to display on this TV?
    Thanks.

I figured as much. I ran into this problem with my Sony 40" connecting via HDMI. Always ended up with borders, etc. and tried all the things so many on these boards have suggested--all to no avail. The TV mfg suggested connecting via VGA and I admit I was frustrated wanting to connect digitally. I went ahead and tried it and am amazed it looks so good--no fuzz that I would expect.
Of course, with an AV reciever, this may not be a very good option. My TV has lots of inputs so I was able to bypass the need for an AV receiver.
I haven't yet seen anyone on these boards solve this problem the way we all want (HDMI or DVI connection)--the solution I suggested was suggested by another member as well.

  • Best Practice for Recording to HDD's.

I want some answers from some people who have been using Logic for a while and have experience in this topic. I have a 2010 MBP 13" with 1 Firewire 800 port, after looking for a cheap quality interface i purchased a Saffire Pro 14 which has a Firewire 6pin interface and i assume is Firewire 400mbps. The interface also doesn't have an extra Firewire port and the manual says not to "daisy-chain" becuase of latency and CPU spikes. Honestly i haven't noticed any problems with my HDD I/O in Logic, when i skip around it peaks but never any errors. I formatted an old 160GB Sata 1 drive and hooked it up over USB, i noticed that when i "skip" arround or w/e its called it doesn't peak (get red) anymore. I want to know peoples experience with Daisy chaining firewire devices, and using USB HDD's.
When i invest more money, would it be ok to stick with my interface for now and get a Glyph drive and daisy chain my interface on at the end? Should i stick with USB storage? Should i stick with internal 5400RPM drive? Should i upgrade it to a 7200RPM ( my original idea). In I.T. we call it best practices, whats the best practice for storing your audio/logic files on a Mac when running Logic.

Please don't just tell me Firewire is faster than USB.....I'm an I.T. Proffesional (wishing i went to school for recording ) I know how comptuers work, i build them and fix them all day. I want to know from peoples personal experience what they run and their suggestions. Thanks so much!

  • What is the best resolution for adding and viewing pictures/images in ibooks?

I'm trying to add pictures/images and I was wondering what the best resolution is for viewing?  Any help would be great.

iBook Author seems to scale the images automagically during the book generation, so targeting iPad's native resolution should be fine.
Havign said that, I'm currently creating art based on the assumption the next generation of the device will have double resolution screen, so a photograph should be scaled to 2048x1536 pixels if you want it to be full screen at 1:1 pixel mapping.
If you're creating widgets, the art (probably) won't be scaled, and you'll need to use the pixel dimensions you want the art to appear on screen.

  • Best Resolution for an iPad using Captivate 7

I'm using Captivate 7 and choose the preset iPad landscape resolution for the project.  The Captivate manual states to use the preset iPad sizes to yield the best results.  However, the module is too big for the iPad screen.  I found an older posting that recommended using 980 X 660 for an iPad and provided this link as a general resolution resource.  Before I continue to build more modules, can anyone share some advice?  Are there different size iPad screens that are causing this issue?  I'm I missing something obvious?
    Thanks.

    Hi Dee Gee,
The best ipad lanscape project size : 1024 X 627  (with CpPlaybarMobile)
The best ipad Potrait project size : 768 X 883  (with CpPlaybarMobile)
    For example
Captivate Project dimensions in  landscape mode width = 1024
Captivate Project dimensions in  landscape mode height = View Port size of the ipad in landscape mode - Playbar size (we suggest to use CpPlaybarMobile, whose height is 45 pixels) - space occupied by navigation bar+ browser bar(96)
    Captivate project dimension height = 768 - 45 -96 = 627
To find out viewport size of a device, check it out on viewportsizes.com
    Thanks,
    Sankaram.

  • Best Resolution for your ipod Vids

I was wondering if anyone figured out the perfect resolution for your ipod videos. I converted some divx files but the pictures gets squeezed or strecthed and it doesnt look as good. the quality is great but i dont like seeing the "universale studios planet earth" looking like an egg.

There is no such thing as a perfect resolution for all videos.
When you convert, you'll want to keep the same aspect ratio as the source video... that will yield the best display.
If you're converting to MPEG-4, the maximum resolution is 480x480.
If H.264, then the max resolution is 320x240. Keep within those limits, but keep the same aspect ratio as the source.

  • Searching for best Soundcard for record

    Hi,
I'm a Dj and I'm looking for the best card to record from vinyls. I'm looking for a card witch can record in 92 kHz but I'm not sure if the "Creative X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion Series" can do so.
    Could anybody help me

I found that the onboard sound was as good as my soundblaster audigy, so I took it out.  I have two identical systems networked. One system is used as a jukebox/media station, so sound is important there.
I put the audigy in one & hooked up my Altec Lansing 880 speakers to each system.  These are excellent speakers, by the way, so any degredation would be in the soundcard.  There was none.  So I pulled out the Audigy, & happily game & mp3.  Then again, I'm using the 845E max2, so your onboard sound may be different.  In which case, ASSAF is right, just disable onboard sound, networking, or whatever, & drop in your additions.

  • Best mic for recording live music with video ipod?

i believe there are mics for recording sound, and believe there are even some which are made for great sound quality such as live music.
if so, which one is the best?
    thanks.

This is sort of like asking what is the best motorized vehicle.
There are different mikes for different purposes, instruments, etc. I'd get on Google and look for recording websites.
Myself, I like various Neumann's for certain applications.
