Best Settings for Exporting for BluRay on Regular DVD's?

Hi,
When I export my project with H.264-BluRay or Mpeg2-BluRay settings, and then record it onto a regular DVD but in BluRay format - it seems as if bitrate is too high or something since PS3 is having issues playing the video without jumps.
Any thoughts?

Petar Smilajkov,
IIRC, there were some discussions on how to get BR material onto a DVD-5/DVD-9 over in the Adobe Encore forum. I believe that some folk were doing what you want to do successfully. Might want to pop over there and do some searching. I'd start in the Blu-Ray sub-forum, but don't completely limit yourself to it, as these threads might be in the main forum, or another of the subs, like DVD Burning.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Best settings for bluray disc

I am a total newbie and somewhat confused by the "Share"options.
I have imported my files from my Sony HDR-XR550V camcorder - edited and made into a movie.  So now I am ready to burn to a bluray disc.
Would someone be so kind as to tell me what options I should choose in Premiere Elements 8 to make the best quality bluray disc to be viewed on a Sony BDP S570 Bluray player....and what format the end result will be.  Thank you very much in advance.

From the Premiere/Encore area, but will tell you what is legal for BluRay

  • What are the best settings for a slideshow on DVD

So I'm looking at this helpful article -- http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3781 -- and wondering: if I want to make a slideshow to burn on a DVD to show on a large-screen HDTV, what would be the right settings for Photo Preview and Photo Quality?  Thanks!

Mark, yes a DVD will play back on a HDTV, just the quality will not match the capability of the playback device. This is certainly the easiest approach though.
As the article you referenced says, ensuring that your previews are set to a larger pixel dimension than your required output will ensure maximum quality, given that you will more than likely have movement on the images in the slide show I would suggest going with pixel dimensions that are at least 1920px.
Let us know how you go.

Can anyone give me a list of steps to make the best possible quality DVD from an FCP reference file? The film is 10 minutes long, NTSC. Or can someone direct me to some threads that address this issue? Thanks so much.

  • Best Settings for Exporting DVD Footage in a Movie File

    Hello,
I've been trying to find the best settings for exporting DVD footage into a movie file from Adobe Premiere CS6.
I recently have been using my Magnavox DVD recorder for recording VHS tapes that I made long ago for shows and various other things, and no matter what, my footage doesn't come out as it needs to be.
Here's an example of what I did recently with my own settings:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFV4sT7rHGs
I'm not expecting HD footage, I know these are tapes, but I'm playing the raw footage on my Xbox 360, and it looks better than this. I had to directly use the VOB files on the DVD for this, as trying to rip the files into an AVI or any other format with a DVD ripper didn't do anything, in fact it degraded the quality and made the audio not play in Premiere.
So what would be some good settings for exporting a sequence with DVD footage that is from a VHS into a movie file, preferably one that wouldn't degrade the quality?
    Thanks!

First, read Why not edit mpeg http://tangentsoft.net/video/mpeg/edit.html to get a general idea of why a VOB makes a very poor source file (which is a renamed MPG, with some other stuff like menu screens)
Also, Read Bill Hunt on editing a VOB/MPG file http://forums.adobe.com/thread/464549
Once you have a DVD compliant VOB on your timeline, and understanding that a standalone DVD recorder sometimes plays fast-n-loose with "compliance" per the DVD specification, about all you can do is export to standard or widescreen DV AVI and accept the fact that re-encoding an already compressed file is just not going to give great results

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on Mac?
Export your Timeline content to a .mp4 file, using export settings which have been customized under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the export's preset.
See Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD and .mp4 category. The exported file is then uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
If you post the properties of your source video and project settings, I will suggest the settings for the Timeline content export to file saved to the computer
hard drive for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site.

  • Best settings for exporting from AE

    Hi,
I am wondering what the best settings to export to from AE for editing in Premiere CS5.5. Previously I would digitize from tape and would export lossless .avi from AE but now I am using XDCAM EX 1080 50i sequence presets on Premiere and I wonder if I should amend the settings from AE or just keep them as lossless?
    As always thanks in advance!

    Keep it lossless.

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.

  • Which are the best settings for exporting comps before edditing in Premiere Pro

    Hello everyone!
As the title says, which are the best settings for exporting comps from AE to Pr.Pro and then edit them?
Let  me explain: I have two comps in AE (intro and outro) and want to export  them in Pr.Pro for edditing along with a fottage i shot.
When i render them the size of the files are huge (30 sec= 7GB).
Which  is the best method (and settings) i can export the intro and outro to a 'normal' file  size and then put them in Pr.Pro without loosing any quality??
    [Comp settings: HDTV 1080 29.97 (1920x1080)]
AE and Premiere Pro both CS4

If you're rendering and exporting an intermediate video file to go from After Effects to any other piece of post-production software (such as Premiere Pro), you want to make sure that you're not losing any quality.
Most compression methods, which make movies smaller, also lose some of the image data---i.e., quality. There are a few compression methods that don't lose any image data; these are "lossless" codecs. These lossless codecs do decrease the size of a video file, but they're nowhere near as effective at decreasing size as the lossy codecs are. But file size isn't important when you're doing post-production work. Big files are a fact of life in post-production.
Examples of lossless codecs include the PNG codec and the Animation codec at the highest quality settings, both of which can be used in a QuickTime (.mov) container. I prefer the PNG codec; it's more efficient for photorealistic images, whereas Animation is more efficient for things like cartoons. There are lots of other lossless and nearly lossless codecs. A lot of people that do video editing like the Lagarith codec, but that is something that you'd have to go and get; it's not part of a standard CS5 or QuickTime installation.
See these FAQ entries for information about compression and why file sizes are big for losslessly encoded files:
"FAQ: Why is my output file huge...?"
"FAQ: What is the best format for rendering and exporting from After Effects?"
By the way, keep in mind that you don't always need to render and export an intermediate movie to go from After Effects to Premiere Pro. There are other ways to move data back and forth between these applications, including Dynamic Link. Which is best depends on the specific circumstance. See "Working with Premiere Pro and After Effects".

  • Best settings to export for the web?

    Hey everyone,
What do you think is the best setting to export video to web? I export now using quicktime and once in a while (I would like to use it more often since its much easier) compressor. So what is the best settings to export video to the web without having it get all blurry? I also use an XL2 so the video is good.

    JB
but I'm concerned about whether H264 is accessible by an audience outside the Mac umbrella.
    They need QT7 installed.
You can get Flip4Mac and add WMV export capabilities to QT. I'm sure that with a little of experimentation you'll get good results and the needed component isn't expensive.
    Hope that helps !

  • Need advise on best settings for FCP 7!

I am looking for some advice on the best settings for FCP 7 when I am syncing sound using pluraleyes, exporting into quicktime as one file and then importing that new file into FCP 7 for editing. I have noticed that sometimes my Quicktime files are very large (20 gb) and sometimes they are much smaller (130 MB), but I never changed the settings.
I am working on FCP 7 and shot using my Panasonic GH3 at 24 fps (which comes to 23.98). My frame size is 1920x1080. Compressor is H.264. Data rate: 8.6 MB/sec. Audio rate: 48.0 KHz.  I have heard that FCP 7 does not properly deal with H.264. So, I am wondering, what should my settings be?  Should I set to "Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920x1080 24p 48 kHz"?  Is there anything I need to know when I export to Quicktime 7 Pro in order to not reduce the quality of the video? Should I be changing my video files first before I even start to work on them?
I haven't edited in almost ten years so I am desperate need of some guidance!
Final Cut Pro 7, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    Hi Shane Ross,
Thanks for your help.  So, I already synced all of my interviews in FCP 7 (using pluraleyes) before I changed the video to ProRess 422.  Can I just go into FCP (in the same project) and compress the video footage, import the new video files and throw it into the timeline? Or will this cause issues? I tried this as a test and it seems to be okay but I just want to check that there aren't any issues that I am not considering.
Also, when I do compress, it seems to take forever (sometimes two hours). Is there any way to make this move along faster?
    Thanks so much!

  • Best settings for PP mov's?

Got a few videos SD 720x486 I need to export from FCP 7 (uncompressed timeline) for use in a Powerpoint - what's best settings for PP? mov, h264, audio at 44 or 48k, what? Should we keep them at full 720 size, probably?
    Thanks
    K

ON a Mac or a PC?
WMV for the PC but learning how to embed is a function of learning how to use Ppoerpoint, not FCP's tools.
H.264? Dunno, what does the manual for PP say about compatible movie filetypes?
If you are handing these movies off to an experience PP producer, they will be able to give precise specs. If your'e doing this yourself, give yourself some extra time to work out the screwups. We have two wiseguys who insist on doing their own PP instead of letting our PP wonks do the jobs. They have never been able to figure out how to embed or link to movies and they do not understand why we tell them to have the movines in the same folder as the PP files.

  • Best settings for 4k video in Premiere Pro CS6

I am trying to nail this down. I have an (Asus G20AJ Series) ASUS i7 3.6 Ghz with 16GB RAM 64 bit. I now have a drone that uses 4k video. I am pretty sure I have the rendering down but I wanted to ask if you guys can suggest options for all the best settings for setup, playback and export of the video. My drone does video of 4096x2160 @23 fps. When I went to render the 6 minute file, wow, it was going to take more than 4 hours! Is this right? Any info you can suggest would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

4 hours sounds about right for this source material on such a system. Better hardware may be needed to reduce the exporting time or you have to convert the source material to a less demanding format.

  • Best settings for film based PAL to MPEG2?

There's a fair amount of useful information online regarding the best settings for film based NTSC footage export etc but I'm unable to find anything regarding the best Compressor settings for the export of MPEG2 from PAL video from a 25 frames per second film sourced master.
    Can anybody help?

Okay, so after reading heaps of stuff on interlacing and progressive, my head is hurting. Since my 1080i50 Pal footage captures into Final cut interlaced and setting field dominance to NONE doesn't do much, I realise I need to de-interlace in an another application. Ken Stone has a great example of what to do in compressor though I dont have the current version (3) and am not sure how to reinterpret this for Compressor 2. I had a go without much luck. I am in the process of trying to use MPEG Streamclip to deinterlace and trying getting the right settings. Will see how that goes. I also have tried using JES deinterlacer but also wasnt sure about settings etc with this application either.
Which is the best to use and what settings should I set. I wish to use my footage for watching on our macs primarily and also from our mac server which is hooked up to our hdtv. I can then convert to other formats for iphones and web etc. But my main problem is this interlacing issue. I have a nice new HDV camera but it certainly isnt looking too much better atm than my old dv footage.
    PLEASE help!
