Best smartphone/PDA device for MAC users?

Hi everyone,
I am finally upgrading from cell phone to a blackberry-like device that can pick up phone calls, email and internet access. What are the best devices that work with MAC? I currently have a G4 tower and will be adding a new mac laptop in a month or so and would like to be able to synch with the mac just like I do now with my palm device.

I have both a Blackberry 7100t that I use for business and a Palm Treo 700p that I use as my personal phone.
Ideally, these 2 would get together and make a baby!
The Blackberry is a great device if all you need is a phone and push e-mail (which I do for my line of business). The other good thing that it does work with Google Maps for Mobile Devices (The Treo currently is not supported). I really like the keyboard on the Blackberry much more than the Treo one. The predictive typing works very well on the Berry and does not take a long time to train. The tiny buttons on the Treo make me feel like I must have "man hands!" You need to install PocketMac for Blackberry to perform syncing on the Mac.
Otherwise, the Treo is a great all-around device if you're mainly wanting a camera phone w/a PDA. I've used Palm devices for years, so I feel quite comfortable with the OS. Although after purchasing a Palm Tungsten E (tons of problems, am on my 8th unit) I had sworn off all Palm hardware, I gave in and am very very happy. The other really nice feature I discovered this week when my cable modem was down is that you can use the Treo as a modem. You can either go the official route and pay for the Sprint Phone-as-Modem service or purchase software that lets you do this without Sprint -- not advocating one way or the other, just letting you know what your options are! The Treo does come with the Palm Desktop software -- which I find quite fugly. Have had fairly good results with using the Palm conduit & ISync. I can then sync my iCal and Address Book with the Palm device (again this can be done with the Berry through PocketMac).

I would like to suggest a Verizon-specific forum for Mac-users

Verizon is the largest provider of wireless and other related solutions. When I have problems with my Mac or supporting services I am consistently able to find solutions on either the Mac or Verizon forums. However, this takes quite a bit of effort to locate the right answer for my problem. And, this takes a lot of time.
I would like to harness solutions for Mac-users who are Verizon customers all in one place. This could make it easier for Mac-users to get quick answers. This could also be a great referral point for Verizon as it sorts out answers/solutions for Mac users.
Currently, Verizon hears from less than .05% of its customers that there are any issues of compatibility, less access to great services, needs for solutions for Mac. However Mac users represent at least 20% of computer users around the US. On the one hand you can infer that there are issues with less than .05% of the Mac universe or, on the other hand, you can infer that many just don't go to Verizon for the solutions.
I am not sure which is right. I just know that having solutions in one place, my Mac home, would be useful. I hope you will consider the idea.
I do realize no forums are dedicated to any one provider. However, Verizon, again, is the biggest provider. Maybe this is worthy of a forum.

I am sure there are many that are also Language based all over the world or at least country based where a language is spoken in more than one part of the world.
It is about the level of question involved and some may already get answered in the "Getting On Line" and similar forums already here.

I accidently deleted my pre-installed safari program on my iphone and can't find it anywhere. I have tried to search spots to download it again, but not sure which is the right download as only see for mac users etc. Need help to get safari back Iphone 4

I have accidently deleted safari from my iphone and can't find it to put it back. I did it ages ago as I didn't know what it was and I was trying to create extra space! Now when I click on a link say in an email, it doesn't come up with a browser. I have looked at the apple site but can only see a download for mac users. Not sure if this is the case because it is preinstalled on the iphone.
Help needed please!

Trouble with forms not fuctioning for Mac users

I have created a form in LC Designer that works great on PC, but doesn't work on on Mac. Or rather doesn't work on all Mac machines. I have tested the form on two different Mac machines in my office and it seems to work fine. However, those outside the office are not able to save the completed form or allow the user to use the email submit button. Is there something I can do to make this user-friendly for Mac users?

The email button function is the least of the issues. The fonts and type size are altered, parts of the form drop out and the form fields appear to be blank until you click on them. Upon click the information then appears. It's really very odd.
Additionally, they can not save the form to their desktop. I thought that this was me forgetting to enable user rights, but that was not the case. At the moment, Mac users can only print the form and fax it.

That's an impossible question to answer - what type of writing will you be doing?
Before we can point you in a direction you need to tell us what kind of writing you will be doing. As phrased, the question is a bit like "what's the best car?" Well few would doubt that a Ferrari is superior to a Honda minivan, but the Ferrari will not much use if you're dragging 4 kids, two dogs and the grandparents along.

Word is the nearest thing to a standard format in the Humanties, but in the sciences and math you'll find Tex more useful for laying out formulas. The older Pages is quite good as a substitute for Word in many cases in the Humanties, but you'll have big problems with citations in the newer version. Apps like Nisus Writer Pro and Mellel are more powerful than Pages, but each have shortcomings. Scrivener and Ulysses are excellent drafting tools but you'll need a Word Processor for final layout. There are lots and lots of lightweight editors out there - Byword, iaWriter (and Writer Pro), OmmWriter - that have little functional use in Academic settings - poor or no support for citations for instance, or poor or no interoperability with Word - but which might be excellent for other uses.
So, back to the key question: what kind of writing will you be doing?

Thank you both! I ended up going for DupeGuru because it was free and it worked well. Easy Duplicate Finder baited me with the promise of free download then when the search was over I got the "buy the software" if I wanted to delete more than 10 files.
DupeGuru worked well and so far I have not been asked for money.
This solves my question.

I think MP4 is better quallity.
To copy a DVD: simply use Toast (maybe withe popcorn, but I don't use it).

because, it is not only a 'grabber', but it includes an 'editor', drop-dead-simple as iMovie, which includes many features ESPECIALLY made for tutorials - e.g. you can zoom-in after recording without quality-loss, you can change cursor-size, highlite, 'print' pressed keys on screen, add a pic-in-pic (if you like your face in your tuts ) ..
side-note: screen-grabs are off the standards, iM or FinalCut/express support! so, a built-in editor is a ++ ! (the exports/uploads from a SF-project are superb!)

Three issues to consider about an external HD:
1. Connectivity. In other words, USB 2.0 and Firewire. If you intend to move large chunks of data at once, such as when streaming audio or video for professional applications, then Firewire is better suited for that. Otherwise, for normal applications, USB is ok.
2. RPMs. In other words, how fast the HD platter spins around. Most consumer HD have a 5400 rpm (rotations per minute) speed. Some HD have a 7200 or even 10,000 rpm spec. The faster the rotation, the faster the access time, the faster information on the HD can be accessed. Not a critical factor unless you deal with audio or video.
3. Brand. In other words, reliability. Best ones, form my experience, are Seagate and Western Digital. Go for Seagate if you can. I've never had any issues with a Seagate drive. You can also go to your local computer shop and they will have separate drives and enclosures, so you can customize the look and connectivity of your HD.
