Best Soundcard for KT3 Ultra ??

Hi
Can you give me your experiences of the most compatible sound cards for this motherboard.
I am having problems with my tv tuner card and my SB Live 5.1.
I never had these problems in my ECS K75SA.
Cheers

read the sticky guides, building and bios
bios one suggests not having acpi on with tv cards might help and a few other ideas in them, pci latencey etc
In addition you can find numerous articles in this forum and on the web about the combination of VIA Chipsets and SB cards; it just appears that there is still an inherent risk in that combination. Problems some times - but not always - can be solved using Latency settings or patches ...
I recommend to look for other soundcards in case of VIA chipsets (unless you can arrange with your dealer that you may return the card in case of problems). There are, also according to my experience, several cards around which will at least match the quality of SB for the same price or less - just go out and use your ears.

  • Searching for best Soundcard for record

    Hi,
I'm a Dj and I'm looking for the best card to record from vinyls. I'm looking for a card witch can record in 92 kHz but I'm not sure if the "Creative X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion Series" can do so.
    Could anybody help me

I found that the onboard sound was as good as my soundblaster audigy, so I took it out.  I have two identical systems networked. One system is used as a jukebox/media station, so sound is important there.
I put the audigy in one & hooked up my Altec Lansing 880 speakers to each system.  These are excellent speakers, by the way, so any degredation would be in the soundcard.  There was none.  So I pulled out the Audigy, & happily game & mp3.  Then again, I'm using the 845E max2, so your onboard sound may be different.  In which case, ASSAF is right, just disable onboard sound, networking, or whatever, & drop in your additions.

  • What is the best soundcard for Linux?

What soundcard would you recommend to buy?
I was thinking that Audigy is best choice, but then I looked on ALSA website, and found out that most of Audigy is not supported or mostly unsupported (lack of capture?!).
Currently I use SB Live 1024, I want to have something better, without so much noise on inputs.

At the moment, I use RCA cables to connect the sound card to my mixer (both in and out). From the mixer, I get sound through my headphones or a pair of studio monitors. I'm sure you've looked at the card online, but it's main output is an RCA connection. If you attach the extra cable, you get MIDI and S/PDIF connections. So if you are going to use regular computer speakers, you would need to get an adapter (RCA to 1/8" jack), which is what I used to use before adding the mixer.

  • Best soundcard for recording with audition

    Hi guys,
Im considering upgrading my soundcard. I'm using soundblaster audigy now but want something with a phono in or at leaste a right and left channel inputs..I'm gonna be recording a lot of vinyl and want a good soundcard.
    thanks
    George

ART makes a USB phono preamp...Not too expensive and designed for what you want.

  • Best soundcard for headpho

I want to purchase a soundcard $30-$50 range that will allow me to have the headphones hooked up all the time, but allow me to mute the speakers when on the headphone. Most store sales people cannot answer the question. Do I want one the USB types? Thanks for any info.

Well, then you can directly plug it into your sound card. Most sound cards have a mic port.
If yours is the big one and cannot fit into the small jack, then you can very easily buy a converter for it.
If you need a sound card, and on a budget, then try Sound Blaster Li've 24 bit.
Otherwise, just go in full force and get Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (don't bother getting anything in between, especially Audigy 2 Value.)

  • Hey Bas...you have a modified 5.6 bios for KT3 ultra series?

i saw a post you made at http://www.amdforums.com about one. here is the quote:  just wondering if you have a new one for the 5.6 bios?
Modded KT3 BIOS Tweak and Full-Raid....(Updated)
    Hi,
Don't confuse this one with the BIOS-Mod from PMShodan.....
    It's not the same version....
The Kunibert BIOS has many tweak options and a full-blown raid....
So it's cool too for non-Raid users
The BIOS and Raid drivers can be found here:
http://ftp://ftp.heppen.be/MSI (look in the KT3 directory)
We have tested this BIOS with a single Array.
Please let us know if there are any problems.
The problem with above 2 disks/array's should be fixed now.
!!! NOTE: This BIOS can void your warranty on the board!!!
!!! Don't blaim us when something goes wrong!!!

    Hi,
    You didn't look did you?
I found some 5.61 modded BIOS'ses and they are there :D

  • KT3 Ultra wont run at 133fsb?

Ok.. I tried just about everything, but can't run this board at 133fsb, it runs fine at 100.
I found a thread here with best settingfor he KT3 Ultra and I tried them for same results...
The thing is it used to run at 133fsb before. The thing that changed is that I had a defective GeForce 4600 (MSI) and I returned it for repairs (wich they did) but while the card was on repairs, I went ahead and bought the MSI GeForce MX 440 8X agp, by the way thta is a sweet little card! but thats another issue.
After getting my 4600 back I was never able again to run the board at 133fsb, when I set it to it, it hangs when Windows XP first screen comes on, and sometimes even before that.
Any help anybody? while I still got a few hairs left ...
I been thinking on upgrading to a KT4 board, but wanted to wait a little longer, the KT3 has been a fine board up until now... Do you think I got a bum board, should I try to get a RMA and send the thing back?
    Help!!! ;(

    Adviced noted and apreciated...
The reazon I do the cleaning in the HSF unit is, I got the Volcano 7+ and I dont know if you seen the cooper grill, the blades are extremely thin and close together and are the perfect dust catchers... I only do this monthly thing during the hot months of summer when the house is warm and the HSF has to be switched at the highest RPM's during full loads ( game playing etc.), and it is not religiously "monthly", I do a visual check and if it looks clean enough, I wait till more dust is colected, or until I notice an raise by a couple of degrees or more for no aparent reazon in the cpu temp. Anyways, I found a neat little minivac at the office depot that comes with a brush head, the bristles in this handy gadget are perfect for vacuming the blades in the Volcano 7+, so there is no need for removing the whole unit any longer...
When I apply the Silver Arctic ( yes indeed, very conductive) I apply a small dub in the center of the cpu and then rub it a bit with my finger tip (dust and particle free) in a very thin layer, leaving about a milimeter clear in the edges to allow for a bit of "flatening expansion" that the pressure from the cpu on top will do.
I dont recomment the Silver arctic to less meticulous folks either, but if done carefully, it does a great, great job...
But I dont want to turn this thread into a CPU cooling HSF one, and at the mean time, I sure do apreciate the advice on the cooling issues, and hope the new doit yourselfers putting their PC's together take a mind note on it.
I  am still puzzled by the 100 to 133 fsb issue, I think it might be IRQ related, I got to do some more reading on this. I run a 3 PC home network and never had this problem before, and I do put together all my PC's...
Txs again for the replays, I will post I ever find a solution to this, as I seen some other posts in the same subject.

  • Via 4in1 for kt3 ultra2

I just bought a kt3 ultra2 mobo for my server
    i use raid only
    and run xp  pro
normaly we install the via 4 in 1 drivers
    but is still usefull?
get i better performance or a more stable system?
when is usefull to install them
do i have to install al 4 of them or just some of the four
and are there other things, like the way of installing
    thanx in advance

Install 4 in 1 driver all versions available from http://www.viaarena.com Other VIA patches mentioned below also availabe from VIA website.
For K7T Turbo Series - no 4 in 1 drivers are needed
For K7T266 Pro2 Series. Install 4 in 1 driver version 4.35 When installing in XP it will only offer the choice to install the ".inf" file/portion of the 4 in 1 drivers. For your motehrboard thats what you wanna do.
For KT3 Ultra Series. Install 4 in 1 driver version 4.38 When you are given the coices of what modules to install choose only the INF 1.40a file (unselect AGP and IDE modules) Once done and you have rebooted. Install the VIA IDE Filter Driver. THis is a separate VIA pack that is not part of the 4 in 1 drivers. Be sure you download and isntall the IDE Filter Driver and NOT the IDE Miniport driver. Please note, I am aware this method may not give you the full ATA133 VIA promises with the IDE miniport. However the above recommendation takes into consideration the following
    * WIndows XP will almost certainly have native support of ATA133 UDMA6 in the upcoming Service Pack
*This provides the cleanest path for you to fully employ the upcoming Windows XP Service Pack. Being familiar with the miniport and the 4 in 1 IDE module, there is reason to believe the future XP Service Pack may not fully install properly with these VIA patches. (for clarification, see me in the forum)
Its as important to think of the future of your computer as much as your immediate desire for performance.
*the Miniport drivers cause some people problems.
*no IDE hard drive can truly provide full ATA133 performance
Based on all these, the above 4 in 1 driver recommendations have been made.

  • PSU Query for MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU running 3000xp

    Hi There,
Before buying a new Motherboard I was just wondering if the problems I'm getting are related to the PSU which is about 5 years old. I've just upgraded my processor to a Athlon 3000 XP 333 FSB which goes into the MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (MS-6380E v1.X) motherbaord, which I've upgraded the Bios to version 5.7, I've also  upgraded my graphics card to the Leadtek Geforce FX5900XT which also plugs into the PSU. When setting my fsb to 166 my PC either won't boot or when I try to run say 3DMark it just freezes, but when I set my FSB to 133 it works fine. I was wondering if it is trying to draw too much power from the CPU.
I don't really know how to write the PSU details down correctly so I've just copied everything from the unit.
    Power Man MN :- FSP 300 - 60 BT
    AC Input - 115/230v~, 10/5A, 60/50 HZ
    DC Output - +3.3V  14.0A(org), +5V - 30.0A(red), +12v - 11.0A (yel) + 5VSB
                    -  2.0A (purp), -5V - 0.3A (white), -12V - 0.8A(blue)
    Fuse Rating 6.3A, 250V
Max Output Power 300W (+3.3V&+5V=150W Max)

  • MSI KT3 Ultra ARU, FSB for Processor

    Help me!
I have a KT3 Ultra ARU, which is lovely, however, I had an XP 1700+ with 512 DDR 266 Ram. The FSB was running at 133. However, i tried to change it, and it wouldn't boot.
Fine, so I resetted Cmos and all was ok.
I have now just installed an XP 2200+ with 512 DDR 333 Ram. My FSB, again, is 133, but i'm sure I read it can go up to 166 for these components. Is that right????
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jon

I know that the 40.41 drivers were specifically targeted to the vertex shader performance, thus increasing the nature test, however, I don't know what else they did to get such a high performance increase. All I can say is amazing. You can get the drivers here , that is assuming you are running winxp or 2000 as this driver only supports those.
Edit: It is a good idea to burn in your hardware before you go overclocking stuff. You may need to play with clock frequencies for your vid card as I can overclock alot higher then 305/605 but performance (and therefore score) drops significantly. Try different settings and run the test, when you feel comfortable overclocing. Be aware if you have never overclocked, that it can damage you components and void any warranty you have on your hardware.
