Best Speakers for CD-quality in iTunes?

What are the best speakers to hook up to the IMAC to get CD-quality from the iTunes digital jukebox? I want a full, rich, clear sound (clearer than what iTunes offers) that is not bass heavy. Sometimes, the sound appears far away or tinny just on the iTunes jukebox.

I use the Bose Computer speakers already mentioned. If they are not suitable then go shopping to listen to what suits your ears.
My home system is Bose Acoustimass 10 speakers through a Denon AVR. I also interface a Apple TV to the Denon and all sounds nice to my ears.
What suits my ears might not sound nice to yours - it is subjective.

  • Best speakers for ipod

I would like to use my Ipod Nano to play music for my
wedding/reception. I'm wondering which speakers would
best serve this purpose. The wedding is small, but
moves from outdoors to indoors, so I need something portable that also has good sound quality (i.e., loud). Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Best speakers for an 80Gig iPod?

What are considered the best speakers or plugin unit to use with an 80 Gig iPod to replace a domestic hi fi system, a unit that would sit in a living room?
I know this is a regular topic on this board but am asking specifically for definitive recommendations from you guys...
(I'm in the UK so those wonderful but heavy USA systems that are not available over here and would cost a fortune to ship would be a problem...)
    Thanks!
    Chris

(Forgot to add this bit - oops!)
Do any of these speaker units have AUX IN inputs? I actually want to replace my hi-fi system with this unit so will need to be able to take audio from my DVD player too.
    Thanks!

  • Best settings for highest quality results, Blu-Ray vs DVD

    I am shooting AVCHD 1080p 60fps with a JVC GC-PX100, using a Windows 7, i7-2600 3.40Ghz., 8Gb.RAM, 1 TB HDD with PE11 and a Pioneer Blu-Ray writer drive.
I'm looking to find the best settings for replay on a 55" HDTV.  I have tested both BD and DVD without seeing very much difference between the two as far as video quality is concerned,
but I want to make sure I'm using the right settings for the best quality on both drives. Can someone please offer a step by step settings procedure for both BD and DVD, also which do you
think is the better route to take between the two?
Also, I have noticed there is a ghosting image after letters/numbers on faster moving content (like railroad cars) on my video even before transferring it, can anyone give some insight to what that might be and if there may be a solution ??
Many thanks for your anticipated help.

    Thanks for the reply.
Referring back to your post 4.
Additional info:  When I published my test video for DVD I chose “Computer” on the Publish+Share drop-down list, then chose MPEG, Presets: HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality.
Saved and burned to DVD.  I also did the same choosing AVCHD Presets: MP4 – H264 1920x1080p 30. Saved and burned to DVD
Let us clarify. When the end result is "...burned to DVD" in either case, are saying that you take your saved file to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc or AVCHD on DVD disc, using another Premiere Elements 11 project on Windows 7 64 bit.
My post numbered 1, contained the step by step for taking your 1080p60 Timeline directly to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc.
If you are going to introduce intermediates in your workflow (Timeline content saved to file and then burn to disc), then I would offer the following scheme
    a. 1080p60 project preset (project 1)
    b. 1080p60 Timeline saved to file via
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
with presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30 (and then under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, customize the export settings for 1080p60 instead of 1080p30)
    c. Import that back into Premiere Elements 1080p60 project (project 2) and burn to disc DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, AVCHD on DVD disc, or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc..
This is another alternative interpretation to your saved and burned to DVD.....in one project, you are doing two different exports...one to a file saved to the hard drive and after than the burn to disc (be it DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, AVCHD format on DVD disc, or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc). If this is the case, there is no "intermediate".
There used to be the discussion about HDV to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc - whether HDV file should be imported into the project as source or whether the user should downsize the HDV to DV widescreen in the camera before import into a DV Widescreen Premiere Elements project. As we getting into this type of question with your 1080p60 to DV widescreen?
Please review and consider. And, then please let me know if any of the above addresses your considerations.
    Thanks.

  • Best options for decent quality output?

Hi all, I'm using a Canon HG10 shooting HD AVCHD. I am pretty pleased with the new archive facility as it's helping save space, and I'm debating whether to edit in 960x540 or 1920x1080.
The 1080 footage looks way better onscreen (to my eye at least) in the original AVCHD and the ingested AIC format. However I can't seem to get a really decent output stage.
Can anyone recommend share/export settings that will give me 1080 video in the 4-8gb/hr range that approaches the quality of the raw footage?
    Thanks in advance!

For good quality 1920x1080 video, you will need much higher data rates.
If you are burning BluRay, export using Quicktime in AIC, and drag the resulting file into TOAST version 9 or 10. If you want to play on a Sony PS3 or on your MAC, export using QuickTIme to h.264 format.
Here are some settings that work for me:
    1) export from iMovie using Share using Quicktime...
    2) select format MPEG-4
    3) select options:
    a) under file format select MP4 (not MP4 ISMA)
    b) under video tab select H.264
data rate in of 16000 to 18000 kbits/sec (Toast uses 16000 when burning to BluRay)
    image size---1920X1080HD
    frame rate---select 29.97 (I am NTSC)
key frame---select either automatic or every 24 frames
video options---select "MAIN" profile and single pass encoding
under audio tab select default AAC-LC
under streaming tab select default "not enabled"

  • Best speakers for the Mackie Big Knob?

    Hey,
I'm an FCP users but thought you logic lot would have a better idea perhaps. I'm using a Mackie Big Knob mixer for editing and need a couple of speakers for under £300.00 and wondered if anyone had any suggestions?
Also is it at all possible to monitor 5.1 of the mixer?
    Much Thanks, Matt

Have a look at the little KRK's as well. Sound decent for the size, and look kinda purdy, which is the most important thing in an edit suite...

  • Best speakers for MP3player in my room

What is the best 2.1 speaker set for my Zen Micro? I just want to connect it to my ZM, not to a PC.. The I-Trigues should be right for that purpose, i think.. Which is the best Quality/Price choise?

Can't hurt to try but I wouldn't get my hopes up. As others have said, you can disallow in app purchases in restrictions, you can also, after you change your iTunes password, set it to always demand a password to do anything.

  • Best settings for highest quality for exporting a .mov  file to h.264

    Hi,
I want to know what the best settings are for the highest quality for exporting a .mov file (720p50) to h.264. I want the same quality as the original.
I want to know the data rate etc.

There is no way to get the exact same quality when transcoding from an editing source to a highly compressed H.264 QT. However, you can get a real high quality by adjusting the data rate.
However, these things depend on the length of the original. I routinely encode H.264s with good results in the 3000-5000 data rate range. I also make sure that I use multiple pass encoding. Take a short snippet of your project (10 seconds or so), and try various bit rates until you have one you like that doesn't take forever.

  • Logging old VHS/Beta tapes to FCP. Best route for picture quality?

Logging old broadcasts recorded on VHS. Most look very good for the time from, some have slight "ghosting" and other carious imperfections. I am using one of the best VCRs and Beta Machines ever made in Sony Super VHS and Super Betas. Both have S-Video outputs. Logging with Formac Studio and I also have a Canopus ADVC-100. Shall I go this route because the picture quality won't get any better? Or any other suggestions? Thanks.

I have an AJA IO, which is an older capture device, and have done quite a few jobs like you are describing. The IO (or another high-quality capture device) allows you to input S-VHS, or another analog signal, such as YUV component video, which many beta decks have, and capture the material to an uncompressed 8- or 10-bit QT, thereby preserving the maximum quality possible. Converting to DV compresses the footage, which can't be undone later down the pipeline, so if you are planning to output to another compressed format, such as MPEG-2 for DVD, you will compress it yet again and lose even more quality. I guess it all depends on the deliverables you need.

  • What's the best speakers for the Z3

Today I was looking at some induction touch speakers and they were mainly made for the iphone and wouldn't really work with the sony z3.  So what would everyone suggest??  Should mention that I'm trying to go for something wireless.

  • Best export for dvd quality using final cut express hd?

    hey guys
i have final cut express hd...what would be the best export settings to get nice highquality dvd?
i am going to put about 25, short 5 minute clips in the dvd..will it be able to fit and all be a nice quality?
    any suggestions?
    thankyou!

Yes, provided you use dual layer DVD-R and your burner supports this newer media.
Otherwise the most you can burn to DVD-R SL media is 120 mins. (but keep in mind menus, titles, photos, etc all consume space as well thereby reducing the available amount of run time / QT Playback.

  • Best speakers for iMac from the Store?

My budget is around $700, I'm currently looking at these from the store:
    B&W MM-1 $500
    Focal XS 2.1 $600
    Paradigm Millenia CT $700
Has anyone tried out these speakers and can make a good assesment on them? Is it safe to say the B&W and Focal would sound better quality due to their built in DAC? Any input would be appreciated. I'm on the verge of just ordering all three and giving them a test run myself.

Personal preference.   All 3 are awesome choices.  There are other choices out there that aren't listed on the apple store ( thus cheaper ) that also sound excellent.  Could save yourself a little money.

  • Best speakers for imac

    Dear all,
I cannot decide between the Harman Kardon Soundsticks II or the Bose Companion 5.
Does anyone have any experience of using these with an imac and can you advise?
Are the Bose speakers worth nearly 3x the price?
    Many thanks

Ok, I listen to bunch of speakers this week. Here's my amateur review: The Bose Music Monitors and the Companion 3 sound about the same. You're paying for MM's small size. The Companion 5 sound better for sure, but they are not 5.1 surround sound. It's surround-ish. So I would think of the Companion 5s as simply good sounding stereo speakers. It's $150 more and I think it's worth it.
Also listen to Bang & Olufsen's BeoLab 4s ($1000) and BeoLab 3s ($4000). The 4s sound good, I'd say the Companion 5s sound slightly better. The 3s sound great! But at $4k though. IMO, clearly not worth 10x more than the Companion 5s.
Also listened to the BeoLab 5s for the fun of it, which are full size floor speakers. Positively overkill as computer speakers, but they sounded awesome!! But they are $20k for the pair!!

  • What is the best way for cleaning up duplicate iTunes files in iCloud?

I have about 5000 of my songs in iTunes that are duplicates in iTunes, when I go to delete them it asks me to delete in iCloud too. I do this and then another file is either uploaded or downloaded with iClouds. Is there a webbased way to access iCloud and clean up duplicate iTune songs?

iTunes 11 has removed the Show Duplicates/Exact Duplicates functions so I've added two new scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates to my scripts collection.
If deduping by hand use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
The Exact Duplicates script makes a good starting point from which to run my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
