Best still image file type to import?

Hello,
I am working with a graphic designer and the question is how should they set up their document and export for the best results importing to PrePro.
Are the Ps/Ai HD presets fine?

I work with very few pictures, but my understanding is that your picture will depend on what you are going to DO with the picture

  • Image file type and settings

hi i have a hard time determining which image file type works best in capt 3.
jpg's for example get really bad,
Which photoshop export settings (png 8/ 24 , dither no dither etc etc) work best and have a nice file size / image quality balance?
Can anyone help me out, much obliged and loads of karma points to you!

    Hi there
I too use PNG images. Note that you have control over the quality settings for images.

What is raw10 image file type format of X3-02 ? Is it same as camera raw files in general ? If so, is there a raw converter program with support for the file type ?

  • Importing images - best res and file type?

What is the best file type and resolution for creating crisp
graphics in Flash, when importing from Photoshop?
    Thanks,
    Amanda

    Amanda,
It all depends on the size of your stage and what you plan
on doing with the graphics. If you will not be zooming in on your
image save it at 300dpi. If you plan on making the image larger
than its original size I would say make it 600dpi, then you can at
least scale it up twice as large without it getting pixelated.
Scaling down is not a problem, it's scaling up that can get you in
trouble. If your image has transparency then save it as a PNG file.
That way you'll be able to use all of your transparent areas
effectively. I usually just save my files as PNG anyway then if I
decide to go in an mess with them later on I won't have to convert
    to a different format.
    hope that helps.

  • Best Image File Type & Size for Photo Books?

When you select your photos to be included in a Photo Book submission, is there a required file type and maximum size. Most of my images are presently Photoshop .psd files and TIFF files of substantial size -- around 2 to 4MB, that I will have to import into iPhoto '09. Thanks.

Interesting. Presently, all my image files are at 300 dpi.
Remember that DPI has no meaning for a digital file - digital files have only dots - the per inch part comes form the print size so until you select a print size you had only "d" - not "dpi" - that is a totally meaningless number
See +The Myth of DPI+ for more information
How exactly is print size determined in the photo books -- from your selection
Obviously from your selection - you place a photo into a frame and the frame size is the size
You may want to take the tutorial for more information - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/#books
or, whatever size results from the image resolution.
remember that images have no inherent size - they are just dots (pixels)
Is the ideal resolution 300 dpi? Thanks.
any image that will print at 180dpi or above will give good results (and will not get a resolution warning)

  • Allow filter file type at import!

It should be possible to exclude/include file types, especially video/image in the import wizard (or through some preference).

Lossless is really good, however the files are large and will drain your battery quicker. I settled on AAC at 192kbps as an acceptable Quality to Battery life compromise. MP3 will be more compatible if you wish to use the tracks on non Apple hardware or software.
Here's an article that compares formats: http://www.recordstorereview.com/misc/aacmp3part2.shtml

  • Still Image File Format

Had a question about the best format for still images in FCE. Tom Wolsky on his FCPBook site recommends creating a PICT file with an alpha channel. Richard Harrington at Lynda.com states that a TIFF works best.
Do you have any information or preference for one over the over. I will be creating files to be exported for web and for DVD.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

I don't think I said PICTs were best, just one of the file formats. PICTs are different in that they carry addressable alpha channels for transparency, while other formats like TIFFs and PSDs don't. You can paint a PCIT alpha like a mask and have it carry over to other applications.
TIFFs are good but they are usually larger than necessary, waste drive space, and have had problems with Final Cut in the past. For most things I just use Photoshop.
JPEG is OK for flat images as long as you use it at best quality. At any reduced quality it will recompress each time the file is saved. The quality can deteriorate.

  • Still image file confusion.

    Got an unusual problem...
Importing folders of JPG still images into CS5 to product a slide show.....
On random occasions Premier confuses individual image file names and replaces them with alternate files from within folders imported on the time line....
Ive re checked the original source of the files affected and they are unaltered...
At first I thought files may be damaged by a virus..... However I;ve used other editing software and they work perfectly........Wondering if anyone has a solution....

I've seen this same thing...drove me nuts!  I reported it as a bug, so Adobe knows about it. Hopefully a fix will come along soon.  A work around is to right-click on the files in the bin, choose Edit in Photoshop, then in Photoshop just do a Save As, and re-save over the old file using the same name and format. When you go back into Premiere Pro, it should be fine. Be sure to back up your original files somewhere...just in case.  Hope that helps!

  • Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type while importing from Canon 5d Mark iii

Anyone mind helping me trouble shoot why my Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type of my Canon 5D Mark iii ?
I have seen this in a couple other threads but none of those suggestions worked for me. I am also a Mac user.

I have Lightroom 4.3 and a Mark iii and cannot import raw files into Lightroom.
    The above contradicts with this:

I am downloading images through the Canon EOS Utility manager and have to import the photos in a folder into Lightroom.
So my reading of that is that you ARE importing Raw files from the 5D3 into Lightroom, but having to use a roundabout route to do so. Is that correct? If so, how are you trying to import when you "cannot import raw files into Lightroom", are you using a card reader or direct camera attachment? Have you tried both methods? And what happens when you do try?

  • How to see all image file types when saving images without selecting "all files"

Hallo, and thank you fom reading.
I am a person who saves a lot of images online in different folders with different names like G - 456 or F - 35.
I have been using firefox 10.0.2 for a long time because of a bug (I guess) that made it easier to save images.
When I saved an image it would always show me all the image files in any folder I wanted to save it, and that way making it easier for me to save files with the right names.
Now with the newer firefox (currently 19.0) whenever I try to save a JPEG I only see the JPEG files in the folder and only way to see the others is by selecting "save as type" all files, but with this I also see all the files that are not images.
This used to save me a lot of trouble and a bit of time but I dont see anything in the options menu that can help me. Is there a way to recreate this function?
    Thank you for your time.

I suspect this is a Windows problem. I am surmising the FilePicker uses the Operating System or Desktop facilities. Does Windows 7 offer any other file categories like ''images'' ?
I do not normally use Windows 7, but may the option depend upon the directory being an indexed one, I ask after finding this thread ''Bring File types tab back'' [http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/819]
This question is a duplicate of [/questions/951764]
Normally I would lock the duplicate question, but in this instance I will leave it open as it is unanswered and someone may give a better reply.

  • Different File Types to Import - To Conver or not to convert?

I have a project that I am dealing with which is requiring several different file types. Mainly .avi exported from VEGAS and footage ripped from a DVD.
I have heard that it is best to use MPEG Streamclip to convert everything to a DVPro format (I am outputting in SD for broadcast) but wouldn't that just cause more compression?
What is the best way to handle multiple file formats and the best output settings for broadcast when dealing with multiple formats? Thanks!

The Avi's might work OK as they are, but the DVD footage has to go through MPEG streamclip. You might have to do this with the Avi's too, but not always... depends on the codec that was used to capture them in Vegas.
Might try putting the AVI's in Compressor for the conversion if need be, as it might look a bit better in the end. But you've no choice with the files ripped from the DVD.

  • Where do RAW image file go when importing images into iPhoto?

I've imported images from my camera card into iPhoto but I want to have access to the RAW files format. I was given the option of erasing the data from the card after import but luckily I opted to not erase because I can't seem to find the RAW images on the computer. Does iPhoto not import RAW image files? I want the RAW file format for obvious reasons.

By default all imported photos are copied into the iPhoto library. To edit them in an external editor check the box in the iPhoto preferences to use RAW with external editors or export the photo with kind = original

  • Why does PE7 create a duplicate still image file

I loaded PE7 and it located my Photoshop element calalog. That was fine however PE7 created duplicate or edited files. Not good when you photoshop elements catalog contains 20 thousands pictures. Is there a way to prevent PE7 from creating a duplicate still image. I had to delete the catalog and start over/

I've never seen or heard of this, md, and I don't know any reason this would happen.
Since this is a Photoshop Elements problem, I'd recommend you try posting your question to the Photoshop Elements forum and see if someone there can help you.

  • Changing image file types

Is there any way to publish my sites through iWeb with JPEG image files instead of PNG's?
I know I could open them in Photoshop and "Save for Web..." as a jpeg, but I'm looking for a quicker way to produce these files from iWeb.

    Hi jrod318,
Are you talking about the template image files? If you are, jpgs will not work because they don't have the transparency that the png files have. This is why the templates are so nice with the layered transparent image files.
I know there is a better way to explain it, but that is the gist of it.
