Best temperature monitoring software?

I have the 990FXA-GD80V2 and speedfan shows
some of the sensors show -111C and some show 127C !? which one is my CPU? I've tried many other utilz and they show the same thing... I have an H100 cooling my CPU inside an obsidian 800D case so heat is not a problem. Thx

xmad, What do you mean setting it for 4 sticks? Where do I find that config?
Svet, I have tried many different tests and the latest beta bios has helped but has not eliminated the problem completely ...... yet.
The Revodrive is working as needed and there are no fw updates available. All drivers are on their latest.
Principle, I'll try that tonight when I get home with 2 sticks ..I was kind of disappointed that the WEI score for CPU & RAM was *lower* than when I had my Phenom x4 965 and a 790FX-GD70 (with the same sticks of ram) - i took the ram out of this old system since the board died and put it in the new one since the specs are the same but I guess its not?
Since you have the extra bandwidth, you need to overvolt the ram and I/o slightly. Perhaps a dramv of 1.65 and a small increase in NB voltage.
Also, setting the command rate to 2t may help and/or loosening the timings.
As a last resort you can slow the memory down to lower the amount of bandwidth to the IMC. Typical setting w/ 4 sticks of ram are 1066/1333 and sometimes 1600 and with enough tinkering higher speeds may be possible but really isn't worth the trouble to be honest. If you really need so much ram, you just need to keep testing until you can find a speed and latency that your IMC likes.
Also, if the 4 sticks of ram are not for a quad channel kit, that can cause this issue as well. Modern IMC's don't like ram that isn't identical and ram of the same line but different kits doesn't always match. If you purchased 2x dual channel kits you may need to return them for a quad channel kit.

  • What is the best temperature gauge software for MacBook Pro?

My MacBook Pro (late 2011, i7 Quad 2.4 GHz, SSD, OS 10.8.5, 8 Gigs RAM) which I use for pro audio production has started stuttering while playing back audio a couple of times - only editing a stereo track with no plug-ins.  I thought it was my Glyph drive because my studio can get warm when the weather's hot in San Diego, even though I've never experienced this before.  However, I moved the current project to my internal SSD boot drive and it started again after using the computer for several hours.  I now think it's a heat issue effecting the laptop itself (it was 85 degrees F in my room).  I want to buy the best software for checking temperatures (CPU, drives, etc.) and am looking at both iStat Menus and Temperature Guage.
Are there any recommendations for which is best (or if something else is better)?  I would rather pay more for software that won't cause me problems when I'm doing large mixes, etc.
    Thanks!
    Robert

They all access the same data, so one's as good as another. iStat Menus is good for displaying a variety of information in the menubar for convenient access. But if all you want are temperature readings then I would select Temperature Monitor 4.98.

  • Temperature Monitor software and Snow Leopard

On my Mac Pro Core Temperatures are not displayed with Snow Leopard as they are under Leopard. Do I have a problem or do others notice this?

    Berkley,
I'd try reinstalling whatever software you're running, I assume Temperature Monitor from Marcel Bresink. It's possible there's a SL update you didn't get yet. Also try Using his Hardware monitor in demo mode. I'm seeing my core temps clearly under Snow Leopard.
Also, sometimes quitting and restarting the monitor software helps. Several times if necessary. Temperature Monitor has some menu items that are helpful if readings don't display, like Rescan Sensor Configuration and Update All Readings Now. Try those.
    Hope that helps,
    Rob

  • Best Temperature Monitoring Program?

Hey all, first time posting in the forums.
I recently got a mid-2012 MBP for college, so of course I immediately began putting games like Borderlands and GTA:SA on it. It runs anything I throw at it beautifully, but it gets awfully hot while it does. I know this is common for MBP's, even up to 90 degrees celsius, but it is something a tad worrisome when it gets over 80 (some games get it there every time....). So I've been trying to monitor it to at least be sure I'm not letting it get up there too often or for too long.
So had a few questions about temperature monitoring with Macs. I've currently got 3 programs running monitor temperature and system usage- System Pal, iStat Pro, and SMCfancontrol (which I also kick up a bit when playing the more GPU intensive games). The problem is that all three show different temperatures. Right now SystemPal reads 41 degrees celsius, SMCfancontrol reads 49, and iStat Pro has temps between 30 and 42 degrees. Which one's right? Is there a more accurate/definitive program for temp monitoring?
If it makes any difference, I usually play projected onto a 32 in LG TV using a thunderbolt to HDMI. I know this is more GPU intensive to begin with, but after going HD it feels a necessary evil.
If anyone happens to know of ways to keep temps down while gaming, monitor temps during full screen apps/games, or ways to monitor GPU usage (right now I have none ) I'd greatly appreciate advice on that too!
    Thanks so much for answers!

Try iStat Menus 4.02 or Temperature Monitor 4.96 or Hardware Monitor 4.96.

  • Best temperature monitoring app.? Freeware or Shareware.

    Hi,
I really need to know my G4's components' temperature, so if you know which temperature app. is the best and why, I'd really appreciate if you shared!
I looked last night on the Version Tracker site, but it was kinda difficult to choose an app. Any favs out there? Freeware or Shareware, I'll take either.
    Thanks_

  • Temperature monitoring software

Shortly after booting into windows xp with bootcamp I notice the top left of my Imac (24" 2.4ghz alu) is warmer than when i'm in OSX. I've become quite paranoid of it when i'm playing games and was wondering if there's any temerature monitoring/fan adjusting software that works with XP and the imac hardware? I've seen some people have used Notebook Hardware Control for their MBPs, will this work on my imac?
    Thanks!

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
It could be that the NHC works on an iMac.

  • Looking for temperature monitoring in OS 9.2.2

    Hello!
Got one of the last dual 1.25 models of the MDD G4 series. Although, I don't really use OS 9.2.2 anymore, for some reason I am reviving my usage of it(to a point) - Does anyone know of a way to check temperature readings with MDDs in OS 9? there has to be a temperature monitor software that will run in OS 9? I checked with the people who make temperature monitor, and they don't even have an OS 9 version.
I am anxious to see what my cpu temps are while natively inside OS 9.2.2
    Thanks!

There is a Mac OS 9 version for Daystar's MAChSpeed. One of its functions is thermal monitoring.

  • Question for anyone who uses temperature monitor

i think my temperature monitor is broken..i had it on my last macbook and it worked fine..but this one says my computer is constantly at 21*Celcius...and i've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it..what is the best temperature monitor?

None of these these temperature monitors are going to work right with the current Intel Duo Core chips. It's an Intel processor design fault. I got this info from the Hardware Monitor developer.
Q: I have a Mac with an Intel Core Solo or Core Duo processor.
Sometimes, the temperature readings seems to "hang" and are no longer
being refreshed. Is this a problem with the application?
A: No, this problem is caused by an internal design flaw of current
versions of Intel Core processors. The Digital Thermal Sensors may
stop working when the processor returns from a C3/C4 power saving
state. Intel plans to correct this hardware bug for future steppings
    of the CPU.
Intel refers to this hardware problem as Erratum AE18. For detailed
information, please see Intel document 30922204

Whch is best to monitor when rendering with Blender 3D with the Nvidia 750M. Thanks for your responce!

    How about one of these?
When Bresink update their software, the choices are rather sparse.  I saw this but have never tried it:

  • Good Temperature Monitor for C2D MBP??

Just got my 17" MBP and it's great!!
I am new to the laptop world, so if someone can recommend a temperature monitor (preferably free) that would be great.
It seems fine, but I'd like to be able to monitor this.
    Cheers

    It may actually be overkill......
But this is the best one I have found:

  • Cisco video camera monitoring software from remote location

    Hello
What is the best way to use the  Cisco video camera monitoring software from remote location.
I am talking about the AVMS / SWVMS software.
I am thinking of either a vpn tunnel or Remote Desktop (Terminal Services).
I would like to use the vpn tunnel, but am afraid that the encryption/decryption of all data will drastically slow down the data throughput.
    THanks,
    Cliff
    CCO: clifford.gormley

    Hi Clifford,
Thank you for posting. I use the AVMS software remotely and it works good. At first I changed the http ports of each camera and forwarded those ports in the router. I set up the cameras in the remote AVMS software with the WAN IP address and port number. That worked quite well. I then decided to try to reach the cameras through a VPN tunnel. I found that it worked perfectly and I was able to view up to 6 cameras. Your results will vary depending on how much bandwidth you have at each end. The important thing is the upload speed at the camera end of the tunnel. I have anywhere from 3-4 Mbps at any given time for the upload speed at the camera side and 30-40 Mbps download speed at the AVMS server side. I have also used UltraVNC to view the AVMS server through the tunnel and that worked well. Note that if you view the AVMS software using RDP you will see a black screen where the video should be. This is a limitation of RDP, not the software.
Please reply if you have any questions.

  • Room Temperature Monitoring

    Dear All,
I need to develope a room temperature monitoring system which will alert by send mails when the temperature goes high. I just wanted to know whether there is any such hardware in the market, together with java, I can acheive this. Any help will be greatly appretiated. Thanks in advance. You can also mail me to [email protected] Thanks once again.
    Ramya.

    ramya1us,
Have a look at http://www.ibutton.com/ibuttons/thermochron.html and at http://ibutton.com.ibuttons/java.html . They seem to sell plenty of hardware and information on writing software to interface with it.
I know of someone who has bought some of their hardrware and created a user controllable WebCam with it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Internal temperature monitoring utility?

Is there any monitoring software (similar to Activity Monitor) that detects whether key components such as the CPU and hard-drive are running at a reasonable temperature or are overheating?
I believe that temperature-monitoring sensors are present inside the casing so in theory what I am asking about should be possible.

Hi, KDS-KDS. My experience has been that temperature-reporting utilities such as the one linked by roam above (which I've tested) are only able to find a single sensor in my Tibook, the same generation as yours. That sensor watches only the hard drive, which is normally one of the cooler parts of a Tibook. Though there clearly are additional sensors in the machine, it appears that their output is unavailable to (or perhaps isn't readable by) such reporting software, for some reason. Owners of other Mac models have reported quite varied results, from highly satisfactory (several sensors detected) to no sensors detected at all.
This question came up several times in the Tibook discussion forums a while back, and my recollection is that no Tibook owner, regardless of which of the four generations his machine belonged to, ever found any temp-reporting software that could provide a readout on the CPU. If you do find one, please post in over there and let us know.

  • Temperature monitoring for Core i3 CPUs

    I have a i3 330M and lm-sensors results in nothing. Any ideas?

I've dug up some more info..
For temperature monitoring, a QST SDK is needed for supporting the ICH8 southbridge. The OpenAMT project is working on that (http://www.openamt.org/), but there doesn't seem to be much progess.
However, it looks like Intel will be releasing an SDK itself. See: http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/ … hp?t=54851
Maybe after that we will have temperature & voltage monitoring support for all Nehalem and Arrandale chipsets.
