Best Thin Case/Bag for MacBook Air 13"

Just purchased (and eagerly anticipating the arrival of) a 13" Air. Now I need to decide on a new case/bag for my Air as my previous bag for my ancient 17" laptop would be a bit superfluous... The most difficult thing about picking one out is being unable to try them out in person other than the standard ones that stores carry which aren't exactly tailored to the Air's uniquely thin profile. Basically what I'm looking for is a case or bag that will safely and securely hold my new Air, as well as a decent amount of extras (i.e. power adapter, superdrive, g-tech slim external hard drive, usb wireless internet modem, a small CAC Smart Card reader,) but still remain as thin as possible and be decently aesthetically pleasing.
So, does anyone have any recommendations based on personal experience? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, below are two links to cases that look like they might possibly do the trick:
Kenneth Cole Top Zip Sleeve
WaterField Designs Macbook Air Wallet
MacCase Jacket

Well, looks like I found my solution(s)
I'm going to get the following bag:
Targus 13.3" Radius Messenger Bag
And possibly couple it with the following hard sleeve:
Waterfield Design MacBook Air Smart Case
The Targus bag looks extremely well designed (saw it in person today) and very purpose built, as well as pretty high quality construction. It got extremely good reviews from fellow Apple users, so I'll pull the trigger on that tomorrow and give an update. I figure I'll couple it with the Waterfield Smart Case for those times when I can't/don't want to lug the entire messenger bag around (plus, it's pretty **** stylish )

  • Nice bag for MacBook Air 13" and iPad

I'm looking for a nice, possibly leather, bag to hold my MacBook Air 13" and iPad, both in sleeves, compact enough to 'sneak' on board a plane as an additional piece of hand luggage.  With cross body strap.  I've been looking for ages...  Could anyone recommend something, not too expensive and available in the UK please?  Many thanks, Karen

Yes, I must have laid my hands on a 100 diff. types, the ones i found best made, and most handy (without being extremely expensive) are the INCASE cases.
Same cases Apple stores carry as well.    The insides are fuzzy, theyre well made, and for a 13", cost is $60 US

  • What's the best multi-monitor solution for macbook air?

I am trying to create a 3 monitor setup for my MBAir 13" Late 2011, and also a 2-monitor setup for my wife's 2013 11" MB Air.  What is the best solution to accomplish this?  I have already narrowed down my monitor selection to the Dell Ultrasharp U2414H with the micro-bezel.
What should I use to connect the laptops to the monitors?  Matrox Triplehead2Go DP edition?  Any experience would be greatly appreciated here!
    Thanks!
    Rich

There are no good cheap solutions due to Macbook Air's only supporting thunderbolt 1 regardless of what your User Manual may say. U2414H is not capable of daisychaining on Macbook Airs', only 2013 Macbook Pros and later. Your Two choices are  Lg 34um95 and daisy chain those with thunderbolt cables or Apple's Thunderbolt display. If you dont care about quality of your second and third monitor external (meaning tearing and slow frame rates). Get a USB 3.0 to (HDMI or DVI) ( Your prefrecnce between HDMI and DVI (Make sure that the device you pick is Mac Compatible)) and a usb 3.0 hub with an AC outlet of preferably 12V, 5V may be too little. for your second and third external monitor and a thunderbolt to (HDMI or DVI) for the first monitor. USB 3.0 Does not have great video performance in viewing your screens. Watching Movies or Playing games using USB 3.0 will result in video tearing. I only recommend using the usb 3.0 adapter screens for Typing or web surfing.
    Basically
1st external monitor( Fast Normal Framerates and no Video Tearing) <----Thunderbolt to HDMI/DVI adapter
2nd and 3rd external Monitor ( Slow Framerates with Video Tearing)(USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI) connected to USB 3.0 12V Adapter Hub connected to 1 macbook air usb 3.0 Port.

  • What office program is best for macbook air 2013

what office program is best for macbook air 2013

    To create some sanity here:
If you are going to share files with family, friends, and coworkers Microsoft Office is the obvious and easy (though expensive) choice.
If you are trying to save money and still remain compatible with friends LibreOffice is free and can read/write Microsoft Office files nearly perfectly.
Another free choice is Apple's iWork suite (you'll have to download it from the App store because it isn't pre-installed) Numbers, Pages, and Keynote. These programs read Microsoft documents mostly accurately but not quite as well as LibreOffice and export to Office compatible documents. But neither LibreOffice nor iWork saves in Microsoft formats by default which means you must remember to export them. That can be a problem.
In terms of ease of use I give iWork a slight edge over the other two. In terms of doing annoying things I don't expect, Office is the hands down winner.

Do all your cases and screen covers for MacBook air 2010-2011 fit the 2012 model

Upon receiving my 2012 MBA, I removed the inCase hard shell from my 2011 model and fitted it to my 2012 unit. The fit is identical. Dimensionally they are the same.
So, if you are asking do all of mine fit? Yes they do.

  • Apple's Replacement Program for Macbook Air mid-2012

Hi everyone, I just wanted to know more about apple's replacement program for Macbook Air mid-2012. I updated the said firmware and then my mac air stops working. However, according to the program, they are replacing it free of charge. I just went to an authorized service provider here in the Philippines and I just want to know if I will be paying any. I can't find good discussions in Google. Thanks.

You should not, as the replacement program is worldwide. In case the reseller refuses to repair your Mac for free, print this website and take it with you

  • Which Storage for MacBook Air?

I can either buy the MacBook Air 13" 128GB or the MacBook Air 11" 256GB. Which one should I buy? How much can each one hold? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok, calm down a bit,.....this is a family boad. Peace
Each Air will come "missing" 8+ gig of data for OS files, recovery partition, and APP files.
As to which you should get that is subjective, however the 256gig and 512gig SSD are FASTER than the 128gig due to SSD densities,...up to 400mb/Second faster
That being said I have 50+ Apps on my 128gig Air, and 10gig of files, and STILL have 86gig of FREE space.
In the case of a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro Retina with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage (i.e. nice 1TB HD for $70), for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace.  You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.

  • What is the preferred anti-virus/malware software for MacBook Air

What is the preferred anti-virusmalware software for MacBook Air?

    None is required.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
    See these Apple articles:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
About file quarantine in OS X
If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.
