I came from a 3G I bought on launch day 2 years ago, upgraded two other phones in the family to 3Gs, and then bought 4 new iPhone 4s on launch day. BEST features of iPhone 4 (and ios4) having spent so much time with iPhones for the past few years:
1. Retina Screen - all I can say is 'wow'. It blows away the 3G, 3GS and my iPad screen.
2. Battery life
3. Camera and flash
4. Folders
5. Facetime
6. Speed
Most annoying problems/issues for me are:
1. Glass seems to scratch easily - my 3G was 2 years old and had no scratches. I already have 2 or 3 small surface scratches and I completely baby the phone.
2. 4.0.1. update messed up all 4 of our iphone 4s' camera rolls.
Non-issue for me
Out of the 4 iPhones, only mine loses bars (not calls necessarily) in the "death grip". I can't replicate it on the other 3 in the family. Of course, we all have cases (even very very thin ones) and it is not an issue.

Best BlueTooth what? BlueTooth is a technology for transmitting over short distances. Bluetooth devices include keyboards, speakers, car steroes, headsets, stereo headsets as well as more specialized devices. My Nike Fuelband uses BT. Computers and iOS devices also use BT.

Do you know what is the best thing about the retina display? the answer is they've solved the issue of the dead and stuck pixels thing you know how because the pixels are very very small so u can't see if it's working or not some day you will walking around holding your new ipad and you don't even know the plenty pixels that are dead and you can't notice them HAHAHA that was a good one LOVE YA APPLE.

I doubt that's the reason Apple spent the money on retina displays, but a good observation.

I was thinking of buying photoshop. I design <<spam link to dress shop removed>> and I was wondering if photoshop is easy to use. I need something that can help me touch up my photos. And something that isn't too hard to operate. Are there any good websites out there that can give me honest feedback on the product? Or is there a simpler version of photoshop?

Yes I shall be sarcastic:
The thing I like best about Photoshop is that it's full featured and really powerful for image professionals. It takes years of practice and learning to get things right, but when you can, it kicks butt. And then you can tell when dilettantes try to Photoshop things, the mistakes stick out like a sore thumb.
The second best thing I like is that Adobe changes up the UI every version, and also adds fancy features and filters that always work for Russell Brown but in reality only work on 5% of the images you ever actually use them on.
OK silliness over.
You might want to check out Pixelmator as well. Be forewarned though, serious retouching requires skill and practice. There is no "one click" solution to some difficult images sometimes.

Just to clarify this last post, you can sync contacts
and calendars on one computer (office pc in my case)
and media - pictures, music, et al - from another
computer (mac at home). It worked absolutely
seamlessly in my case.
How do you do this? I have my itunes on my G5 and my contacts/calendar on my MacBook Pro. I tried connecting my iphone to the G5 - itunes doesn't notice it. Any advice?

Unfortunately I am now within hour 15, in my attempts to replace Apples purposefully terrible ringtones with new ones, and I've bought a few now... However none of them work.. they aren't even recognised on itunes as ringtones. I bouhgt on my phone and on my pc and have imported, exported, synched, and read all of the information, attempted to edit 30 seconds and all that stuff, except my library will not pass them to the ringtones section, nor does it have the bell thingy or will it let me creat ringtone... The whole itunes thing is glitchy and has hijacked my music collection...
I am enfuriated by Apples attempt to force us into buying these awful things, as their selection is also dismal... Sod Apple, i'm off to windows... But before I do... how am I supposed to fix this thing... cos right now i'm considering sueing...

Did you buy the song, +and then+ buy the ringtone? Buy a song with a bell symbol in the Store. Then, go to your Music library (click on Music at the top of the list in the left, or on the Purchased playlist), find the song, click the bell icon, select your fragment of song, then click Buy. Yes, you must pay twice, once for the song, again for the Ringtone. That's how purchased ringtones work. Then, they show up in the Ringtones tab in iTunes and can be synced to the phone and selected in the Sounds settings or for specific contacts.
Or, make your own ringtones, for free.
EDIT: Just noticed you're in the UK - the record labels have basically prevented Apple from selling ringtones outside the US. So, don't bother trying to buy them via the iTunes Store - just use the link I provided, or any of the many 3rd party apps that will do the job (consult Google as Tamara suggests).

First, which USB port on your computer are you connecting the iPhone to, and are you going through a USB Hub? Ports on your monitor are a hub, and many times the ports on the front of the computer are a hub.
What other USB devices are connected? Sometimes memory card readers for reading the cards from a digital camera will be using USB even if "built-in" to the computer.
Second, if you look in device manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, do any of the Controllers mention USB2, USB 2.0, Enhanced or High Speed?
If none of them mention any of those, your ports are running as USB 1.1 ports. If your system specifications state you have USB 2.0 ports, then they have either been disabled (running in legacy mode), or it may require a driver or firmware update from your computer or motherboard manufacturer to resolve.

Fact is, the chances of fully recovering from water damage, on an iPhone, are extremely low. Your best bet is to belly up to the bar & pay Apple the out of warranty exchange fee: US $269. Make an appointment at any Apple store.

Best part about VZW getting the iPhone

The best part about VZW getting the iPhone is now when it is time for me to get a new phone I will not have to worry about any backorder for the Android phone of my choice since half the people on smart phones will want an iPhone for some unknown reason.
The bad part will be that I can never step foot in a VZW store again because it will be filled with people that have either never owned an iPhone and will eventually realize they are not any better than other phones now a days but will demand to know where the magic is or people who have owned one before and find out it wasn’t just AT&T’s network that was the problem it truly was the phone as well.
Of course not stepping foot in a store again is really not that bad.

A few question about iPhone OS in CS5 and CS5 in general.

I'm an IT trainer and I am trying to introduce my students to programming for iPhone/iPod Touch. (They are Secondary 2 students. 14 years old) The school is using a windows computer and CS5 right now is the best for the class (Not a steep learning curve and a user-friendly program). I know about the problems over the iPhone OS in CS5 with Apple but I was told it is still available for use. Furthermore, we have no intention of bringing the apps created to the Apple Store. I've tried the trial version and before I make any purchase, I would actually like to ask a few questions.
Is the iPhone OS in the trial version itself complete? Is there anything left out from the trial version because when I tried it, it seems fine however I did not try publishing to an iPhone due to the certificates. Is there a reason for the certificate? Is there any way around it because if there isn't do I need to get a certificate for every single student? (I'm looking at a class of 40 students.) Is the certificate available for windows platform?
Lets say, I got myself a certificate, create a simple program and then publish it, can I immediately bring it over to iTunes and then sync? Will it work that way? I don't want it to be too tedious for the students to see the end result. I've done quite a few research and have come across people having problems bringing it into their devices. Those people mention about bringing it to Cydia and needing to jailbreak the device. The devices made available for the students are not jailbroken. Will iPhone OS with proper certification still need Cydia for use with their device? Will only jailbroken device allow a CS5 app? I hope you get what I'm trying to say. We as trainers do not support teaching students to jailbreak, so that's definitely a no-no.
Another thing about CS5. Previously I have called customer support about the CS4 the school is using now and the problem with nested animation when publishing the animation as a video file, is this problem still in CS5? Does CS5 allow nested animation to be published as a video file? If it isn't, is there any way around it?

I'm asking for advice, if someone has an idea, or maybe there's a moderator around to tell me~~which version of iTunes and which version of iOS would be best for my iPhone 4S using Windows 7 professional~~with all the current MS updates installed?
I also have an iPhone 3S attached to my iTunes account, not sure which version of iOS I should be using with this phone either, not sure which iPhone 3S is which~~one was a 32G that went in the laundry, got repaired by the local iPhone repair. The other is an 8G, purchased at the same time as the 4S.

The iTunes version for the computer is 11.2.2.3 which is the current version. For your iPhone 4S, you can only have iOS 7.1.1 which is the current version also. You can update your other phones by connecting them to your computer and update through iTunes to whichever version they allow. I have not used home sharing, so hopefully someone else can address that.

If I may, I agree that version 3.1.3 is the best for the iPhone 3G, however, I am currently travelling in Europe and I have a SIM card from a local mobile company. I discovered the hard way that there is an option missing: Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data (on/off). This option is not present in iOS 3.1.3. So basically, you disable 3G but it is impossible to block EDGE, and your phone will automatically revert to it if 3G is not available, and you will occur cellular data fees anyway.
I am sure of what I am saying because with the local service I use, I have unlimited data for $4 per day, but it is debited as soon as I consume one byte of data, then it is free until midnight the same day. Event if I have set Enable 3G = off, Data Roaming = off, for two days in a row, I was still charged the $4 a day because the Cellular Data was not off!
I compared with my wife's iPhone 3GS with iOS 5.1, there is the three options, Enable 3G (on/off), Data Roaming (on/off), Cellular Data (on/off). The option to turn it off simply doesn't exists on iOS 3.1.3!
With some research, I found that it is possible to block it anyway if you change your APN (Access Point Name) to an invalid setting. The easiest way to do this is to connect to the Internet using WiFi, then access this web site with Safari: http://unlockit.co.nz/ (from your iPhone).
This online tool allows you to change your APN, it is very useful when you travel abroad and you use local SIMs. On the first screen press Continue, on the second screen press Custom APN to create an APN for a local mobile company, or press Disable Data (FakeAPN) to disable 3G and Edge for good. When creating a Custom APN, you will be asked to choose a Country and a Provider, then press Create Profile. Then, either way, press Install and "Install Now" or "Replace", then press Done. This will add two things to your phone: first, an app-like icon for quick access to the website http://unlockit.co.nz/, second, a new menu in Settings > General, labelled "Profile", that contains your new APN. Note that it is possible to add several profile information, and some may conflict with each other. Remove those you don't need. Don't remove them if you are not sure!
