Best Virtual Orchestra Under $500??

Hello-- any of you serious composers/orchestrators...I'm looking for a good symphonic library for $500 or under.... MOTU Symphonic? Eastwest? Miroslav? Someone told me that the Miroslav technology was 15 years old..what does that mean? 16-bit? Any advice? Also, ease of use is important...

mr asher.... would the kirk work with EXSP 24 --
which is the logic express synth?
i've seen the kirk ...they don't get a lot of
attention...they are a legit outfit and all that?
that's what you use?
Yes Kirk's sample library will work in the EXSP24, which is Logic's Express Sample Player not synth btw.
Kirk is a one man outfit and he does not have the big bucks for promotion that VSL and East West has.
In fact, I am the guy who nagged him into creating an EXS24 version.
His strings have a very specific sound that you either like or do not like. On one forum I visit they are very popular while on another they hate them.
I like them and use Emerald and his new Virtuoso Pro Concert Strings along with several other sample libraries.
They are an excellent bang for the buck and Kirk is a very customer support oriented developer. If you do not have enough dough for a bunch of libraries or even one very expensive one then Emerald is definitely worth your consideratrion IMHO.

  • Best Monitor for Under $500

I'm looking to pick up a new monitor for the office and I was given a budget of $500 to work with. Obviously, this excludes the best models available, but
I should still be able to find something decent. Any help is appreciated.
    Here are my requirements.
    1. Cost must be under $500
    2. Good color accuracy. I'm a graphic designer, so this is very important.
    3. 22" or bigger.
    4. 1920 x 1080 or better
    5. Wide viewing angle.
    6. Good contrast ratio
    7. Good overall sharpness. I do not want grainy whites.
    8. Glossy or matte screen is fine.
    More details
    1. Well lit office environment (fluorescent lighting).
    2. LED or LCD. Either option is fine. Looking for the best overall quality regardless of technology.
    3. Gaming performance / response time is not important. This will only be used for design work.
    Models under consideration
    1. HP 2310m
    2. Samsung SyncMaster F2380M (It seems to no longer available)
    3. HP 2311x
    4. HP ZR24W
    5. Dell UltraSharp U2410 (poor quality control)
Are there any other good models that I am leaving out?

I can only say that I have three F2380's (without the M) and even while they are not up to IPS monitors, they are way better than TN monitors, meet all the other requirements you stated and IMO they do deliver a very, very nice price / performance ratio.

So if the vendor doesn't provide an uninstall program or instructions, we're just stuck with stuff we may no longer need?
Pretty much. You can always erase your hard drive and reinstall the OS. Some people may attempt to talk you through manually deleting files. I try very hard to avoid doing that because 100% of the time, the person I'm trying to help can't find the files and, instead, starts randomly deleting required system files. Then you have no choice but to reinstall the OS.

  • Compatible cheap camcorders - under $500.00

    Hello List
I am looking into purchasing a cheap camcorder, that are compatible with Final Cut Pro. Tape or Card I don't care. The important thing is that I can easily edit the footage without having to do any conversion or ripping.
There used to be a supported cameras list for earlier versions of final cut. Is there one for Final Cut Pro 5?
any advice or receommendations are much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Regarding HD versus SD in the under $500.00 camcorder pricerange, what is your opinion regarding workflow and image quality? I understand that with a cheap HD'ish camcorder you'll get more pixels but in an 'inconvenient' delievery format that needs to be converted for FCP. Is the final image quality compareable to an uncompressed miniDV image that is smaller yet not compressed?
What about the workflow, how much of a pain is the additional conversion from mp4 or mpeg4 ( or whatever format these camcorders output ) to a dv quicktime movie?
Any insight or advice much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello All,
We want to install SAP Best Practices for Utilities (UTILITIES - V1.500) in our landscape. I checked the system requirements proposed by SAP and observed that most of the s/w releases they are reffering to are ECC5 (500) and our system is at release ECC6 (600).  I beleive that there will be a lot of changes in the config nodes of ECC6 from ECC5. So if we install it in our landscape then will it cause a conflict in configuration? So is it advisable to install Utilities Best Practices in our system? Here is the text from the download site from 10.3.3 that applies to 10.3.0 as well:
Note: This table includes links to WebLogic Server installers that include 32-bit JVMs for the platform
in question, and links to WebLogic Server generic installers that can be used on any supported platform.
To use WebLogic Server with 64-bit JVM's on Linux and Solaris or to use WLS on other supported
platforms, use the WebLogic Server generic installer listed under "Additional Platforms". The generic
installers do not include a JVM/JDK. For instructions on using the generic installers, see this document.
So regardless whether the OS is 64bit or not, you need to select the installer on whether you are running WebLogic Server in a 32bit JVM or a 64bit JVM. If you run in a 32bit JVM, you can use the 32bit binary installer for Solaris that has a .bin extension. If you are going to run a 64bit JVM, then you need to download the "generic" .jar installer and separately download the supported 64bit JDK and follow the instructions similar to this, but for 10.3.0.

  • ITunes crashes in Mountain Lion virtual machine under Mavericks host

I have been trying to test iTunes 11 under Mountain Lion in a VM running under Mavericks using the 30-days demo mode of Fusion 6, so that I can make a purchase decision.
Each time I have tried to conduct the necessary tests, iTunes crashes in the Mountain Lion VM.
The crash report shows that it is an Exception Type:  EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP).
These crashes have happened after each of three occasions that I've created a brand new VM and then installed Mountain Lion in it.
The crashes consistently and reliably happen after I click the Accept button in iTunes' splash screen or after I click any of iTunes' menubar items.
The VM has no third-party apps; I've only created the VM, installed Mountain Lion (on two occasions updated to 10.8.5 using the combo updater; on the third, left it at 10.8.3 as installed), and then installed VMWare Tools.
On two of the three occasions, during the installation process, I chose "Mac OS 10.8" from the list of guest Mac OS versions because "Mac OS 10.8-64 bit" was not one of the options.
On the third occasion, I chose "Mac OS 10.7-64 bit" and renamed the VM to "Mac OS 10.8-64 bit."
I am using Mountain Lion's "InstallEDS" disk image file from the factory installation that came with my MacBook Pro with Retina display (which I subsequently updated to Mavericks).
Can someone please point me in the proper direction for getting this VM prepared so that iTunes launches properly?
    Many thanks in advance!

This problem evidently is related to VMWare Tools.
I created a second virtual hard drive in the Fusion VM, cloned a vanilla Mountain Lion installation to the second virtual hard drive, and then launched Mountain Lion iTunes in the VM without installing VMWare Tools.
iTunes behaved normally; I could click the Agree button in the splash screen and access iTunes' menubar items normally.
After installing VMWare Tools, I launched iTunes and it became very unstable; clicking any menubar item or just resizing the application's window resulted in iTunes quitting unexpectedly.
I then uninstalled VMWare Tools using the uninstall application.
    iTunes then behaved normally again.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to install VMWare Tools without compromising iTunes' stability?

  • Errors on French virtual keyboards under ios6

    Hello,
There is a very annoying error on the French virtual keyboards for the ipad under ios6  - when you hit the .?123 button it shows the pound (£) sign rather than the euro [€]. To find the euro you have either to press and hold the pound sign, or hit the #+= button. Not at all logical, and highly impractical.
This was not the case under ios5 - the euro sign was the default on the numeric keyboard and holding it down showed other currency signs, which is how it should be. Why on earth has it been changed ?
I also wish that the numeric keyboard didn't automatically return to the alpha keyboard when you hit the spacebar. Extremely annoying when typing phone numbers for example, or if you want to type numbers followed by a space and a dash.
How can I report these problems to Apple, please ?

    hey aLicer,
did you find a solution to your problem,
I am having the exact problem but with eclipse 3.11 and Nokia prototype_2_0_S60_MIDP_Emulator
if you have found a solution can you please let me know because I really need to know as I have spent weeks on this stuiped thing ?
    thanks a lot

  • Printing from a Dos Program which uses LPT1 running a Virtual XP under Windows 7 Professional.

The Virtual XP uses the printer assigned to Windows 7 Professional by using Microsoft Terminal Services so you see a TS... pointing the the printer
    in Windows 7.
It works fine in the Virtual XP system.
When you open the DOS application to print you must first do a Net Use lpt1:
\\Virtual XP computer name\Shared name you assigned to the printer you want to use /persisent:yes
This works well when you are running in a regular XP machine, but will not work from the Virtual XP machine running under Windows & Professional.
I believe it has to do with the fact that the Virtual XP machine is connecting to the Windows 7 printer that is connected via a Net Use command
for the TSclient  prn12 pointing to the Windows 7 HP network printer.
Has anyone encountered this situation and if so is there a way to correct it.
The error message I get in the DOS application says the printer is offline or not connected.

Have you tried to share the printer over the network in the Windows 7 environment - and then do a net use from inside the virtual machine (rather than using the terminal services printer redirection)? Note that for this to work you will need to be using
a direct network connection on the virtual machine - and not shared networking.
    Cheers,

  • Run a virtual machine under both 7 and Vista?

I have a windows 7 pro computer that is set up as a dual-boot with the OEM copy of Vista home premium.
How do I use XP mode in Windows 7 professional,
and also share another virtual machine running an image of an old Windows 98 system with the Vista OS without duplicating the 40gb virtual hard drive?
I'd like to be able to use that virtual machine in both operating systems without having to convert it back and forth, or mess with  the "virtual machine editions" every time.
Is this possible? I get a message that Virtual PC 2007 is incompatible with Windows 7, but it is all I have to run in Vista. Both host operating systems are 64 bit.

So, you want Windows 7 run XP mode and run this Windows Virtual PC 2007 at your Vista? so you can run old Windows 98 on your Vista
for me, this is complicated process, what I suggest here, you upgrade your Windows 7 version (if need to be upgraded), installed latest version Windows Virtual PC version, and make Windows Vista and other OS as guest
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3702
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/958559?wa=wsignin1.0
but I don't think Windows 98 will run using this software, but some people report can, even though operating systems that are not officially supported
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2010/05/27/installing-windows-98-on-windows-virtual-pc.aspx
    note:
I also bit confused regarding this, "Virtual applications are not supported on Windows Vista Business or on Windows 7 Professional or on Windows 7 Professional(SP1). All other features of Windows Virtual PC are supported on these two guest systems."
You also have another option like install 3rd party Virtual application software, like Virtual box or VMware
but everything worth to try, good luck
