Best way to bounce Flexed Multitracked Drums?

Hi there,
I know there's a few things on here about this, but I'm wondering if there has been a quicker/better solution found?
Most of the time, once I've flexed and quantised my multitrack drums, I bounce each one out separately, by hitting the 'mono' button on the Stereo Out, then hitting 'bounce'. Each track is, of course, soloed at the time.
However, this is not always accurate, as I have found just now when it gave me a completely different fill to what I flexed!
Is there a quicker way than sending each track out to a separate bus and recording them down manually?
This seems long winded and there must be a better way?!

if you want to record the sounds that your drum kit makes, as audio, you can get the audio interface (however, all you really need is an audio cable).
if you want to play GB's (or any third party) drums, get the MIDI interface. MIDI gives you some advantages, like being able to edit each note, if you wish. plus there are many drum kits you can install and then play with your hardware.

  • Best way to record Roland V-drums

    Hello to everyone!
    I am a new owner of a mac mini, as of today. It is a 1.83 GHZ Intel Core 2 duo w/ 2 GB of ram.
    The question I have pertains to recording. I own a Roland TD-10 Vdrum kit, and would love to be able to record into Garageband with it. My question is - What is going to be the best way for me to record?
    I believe I have 2 options - One would be to go with a Firewire interface Audio Interface, like this one:
    http://www.guitarcenter.com/M-Audio-FireWire-Solo-Mobile-Audio-Interface-1029518 37-i1154073.gc
    The other option would be to get a USB MIDI interface, like this.
    http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOUNO
    I am very ignorant when it comes to this, and therefore, before purchasing anything, I am asking for advice. The TD-10 drum kit of mine has MIDI ports on it, as well as a line out.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Zach

  • What is the best way to use single shot drum sounds?

    I have a huge collection of wav. format single sound drum sounds that I use in FL Studio. What is the best way to program drums in GB using them besides buying iDrum? I like the flexibility of using drums from different kits when I make my music so I kind of get board using a preset drum kit from GB even layering 3-4 kits isn't as nice as choosing each individual drum sound.

    Would be great to have more info but on a 24fps timeline with 24fps footage, you can simply right click and change the speed/duration to whatever. It'll be more jittery than smooth 60fps slow-mo. If your footage is shot at 60fps and you are editing on a 24fps timeline, just select the clip and right-click and choose MODIFY>Interpret footage and change the fps to 23.976 and you're done. Now when you drop that clip on the timeline it's in smooth slow-mo. Or, you can just toss the original clip on the timeline and change the speed/duration setting to 40%. Pretty much the same thing although the former is better if you need to add any warp stabilization to the clip. Anything you want to speed back up you can either duplicate the clip in the project panel and change it back to the original frame rate OR you can simply adjust it on the timeline to 250% speed which is back to normal. Good luck!

  • Flex/AS3 Best way to construct a derived class instance from an existing base class instance?

    What is the best way to handle the instantiation of a derived class from an existing base class.
    I have a base class which is being created via remote_object [RemoteClass alias] from the server.   I have other specialized classes that are derived from this baseclass, but serialization with the server always happens with the base class.     The base class has meta data that defines what the derived class is, for example
    [RemoteClass (alias="com.myco...')]
    public Class Base
         public var derivedType:String;
         public function Base()
    public Class Derived extends Base
         public "some other data"
         public function Derived()
    In my Cairgorm command which retrieves this object from ther server I want to do this:
    public function result (event: Object):void
        var baseInstance:Base = event.result;
         if (baseInstance.derivedType = "derived")
              var derivedInstance:Derived = new Derived( baseInstance );
    What is the most efficient way of doing this?   It appears to me that doing a deep-copy/clone and instantiation of the derived class is pretty inefficient as far as memory allocation and data movement via the copy.

    Thanks for the assistance.  Let me try to clarify.
    MY UI requires a number of composite classes.    The individual components of the composite classes are being transfered to/from the server at different times depending upone which component has changed state.    The construction of the composite classes from the base class happens in my clients business logic.
    Composition happens in a derived class; but server syncronization happens using the base class.    When I recieve the object from Blazeds through the remote object event, it is in the form of the base class.  I then need to instantiate the derived class and copy the elements of the base class into it (for later composite construction).   And likewise when sending the base class back to the server, I need to upcast the derived class to its base class.   But in this case just a mere upcast does not work.  I actually need to create a new base class and copy the attrbutes into it.  I believe this is limitation of how remoting works on Flex/AS3.
    My question is, what is the best way to turn my base class into it's derived class so further composite construction can take place.   The way I am currently doing it is to create a  load method on the base class, that takes the base class as on argument.  The load function, copies all of the instance attribute references from the base class to the target class.
    public Class Base
         public function Base()
         public function load(fromClass:Base)
        {  //  copy the references for all of the instance attributes from the fromClass to this class }
    Then,  after I recieve the base class from the server.   I create a new derived class and pass the base class into the load function like this:
                for (var i:int=0; i < event.result.length; i++) {
                    var derived:Derived = new Derived();
                    derived.load(event.result[i]);
    The drawbacks of this approach is that it now requires 2 extra instance creations per object serialization.   One on recieving the object from the server and one sending it to the server.    I assume copying references are pretty efficient.  But, there is probably some GC issues.     The worst of it is in code maintenance.   The load function now has to be manually maintained and kept in sync with the server class.
    It would be interesting to hear how others have solved this problem.      The server side is an existing application with around 2M LOC, so changing the code on the server is a non-starter.
    Thanks for your help.

  • [Flex 4.5.1] What is the best way of adopting a flex built website for mobile "as is"?

    What is the best way of adopting a flex 4.5.1 built website for mobile "as is"?
    I have a website built with flex 4.5.1 which I want to be working on mobile as it should - meaning that touch style of interactions should be working not mouse.
    The question is: Do I HAVE TO recode all of my website from Application into Mobile Application in order to be a more lightweight version of the original one, which includes: remove some functionality, pages, animation, build a separate backend and cms to control it etc.?
    OR
    Can I just define mobile skins, for my existing components to use when in mobile mode, in which I could have done some tweaking by removing some unnecessary parts and changing component interactionMode to Touch ?
    Are both options which I see possible and if yes - which one would you recommend?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the answer. Yeah I bet you figured out what I want the answer to be, but is it ? That's why I am asking here. I can see my website on my HTC Desire HD and it's working pretty well. If I reskin the parts that need a bigger hit area or the scrollers to work with touch so I don't have to scroll the actual scrollbars with my finger, remove some complex animations - everything will work just fine... The problem is that I am not sure if that is the right way to do it or if it is possible at all.
    I do get your point about not designed for mobile stuff, but while with html 5 you get the job done for web and mobile with little differences at the same time, in flash you need double time cause you'll have to build 2 projects. And since the framework is one for both web and mobile.. why not...
    I want to see the pros and cons of the both approaches I suggested. In a complex modular architecture I could easily swap one web module with a mobile module for example or change skins or components if I need more lightweight ones, but do I have to copy all that logic in to a MobileApplication, can't I do it with Application and use the MobileComponents (which are simplier and less functional) if the project actually needs them...
    I do hope you get why I am asking these questions, and I can't believe I haven't found a guide or something like that "why this and not that" when it comes to mixing web with mobile development and flex... If you have, please share the link, I would be happy to read. Or someone with the experience in what I am talking about shares some knowledge, that would be great!
    Thanks.

  • Best way to import Drums on Demand samples ?

    Anyone know the best way to import drums on demand samples.
    Drums On Demand is the name of the company that samples real drums for looping.
    They are .WAV files.
    I'd like to know the best way to import those files into GarageBand.
    Will they be files I'll be able to hear a sample of like the other loops in GarageBand?
    thanks,
    t

    When you order Drums on Demand from the company, you have to choose the "Apple Loops Format" if
    you are working with Garageband. They will work exactly like your existing Apple loops when you click and drag the the DOD folders to your browser. To the best of my knowledge, .wav files do not work
    like Apple Loops in GB. When you order, they give you a variety of formats to choose from. Choose
    "Apple Loops". I use them, and they are very good.

  • Best Way to Export Single Tracks in Audition

    Hello,
    What is the best way to export one single track (stereo or 5.1) from a multiple track mix in the Multitrack Editor if I want to make it mono? Is it by just muting the tracks I don´t want in the final mixdown and then selecting a mono Master in the Mixdown Options box?
    What about exporting only a few of the tracks from a multiple track mix to one mono file? Same process?
    Thanks!

    "Export all Tracks as Audio Files" found under File>Export.
    This will render audio files of your software instruments that start at bar 1, beat 1, and can be dragged right into Pro Tools. The export happens "pre-fader", so it is bounced at unity gain, and excludes any automation.
    If there is automation that needs to be included (like a filter sweep or something like that), you'll need to solo the track, and bounce it, because a bounced file does include automation.
    Also, if you're using a multi-channel instrument, you'll need to bounce those tracks separately as well.

  • Changing the tempo of multitrack drums

    Hi guys,
    I am a Scandinavian songwriter-producer and I'm in the middle of an important project that will be mixed in about a week. We recorded the drums originally at the tempo of 145, but decided to change the tempo to 152 (yeah, it's a drastic change). I haven't got much time left till the mixing, but the drums are still at the wrong tempo and thus need to be recorded again or tweaked to the correct tempo if that's possible. To be able to re-record them I'd need to pack all my recording equipment (mixer, preamps, mics, stands etc.) and travel a long way to a different town, which I'd obviously love to avoid if possible.
    Since it's possible to move and quantize audio (also multitrack drums) in Logic, Pro Tools and Melodyne, I was wondering if the tempo can be changed naturally enough as well. I guess Melodyne won't work because there are 14 drum tracks and Melodyne only supports up to eight tracks. This would leave me with Logic and Pro Tools. Does anyone know if one works better than the other or if either works well enough? How do I do this so that the phases remain the same? I use Logic much more than Pro Tools, so it'd be great if this could be achieved within it, but I don't mind going into Pro Tools if that's required to get the job done.
    Thank you so much!
    Toni

    Hi
    If you are on Logic 9, Flex should take care of this. Group the tracks, and *IMPORTANT* set the tempo to the original recorded tempo, then enable Flex on the tracks.
    You should then be able to change the tempo as required.

  • Best way to record reason??

    Hello all, i just got logic and i'm slowly figuring out all of its tricks. i'm up to speed on using rewire and i don't have any issues there. my main concern is finding out the best way to put a reason file into logic. i'm basically using reason for the drum machine, and i always automate the patterns i create. when i rewire, the auntomated patterns play just fine in logic. i can't seem to record the drums i'm hearing in logic as if they were a completely separate instrument i'm trying to record. any suggestions?
    thanks
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Rusty,
    It has been answered before.
    Bounce the Reason tracks and import them to logic as individual audio tracks, that way you have more control over each track.
    Sorry the delay,
    Kindly Regards,
    Jorge
    Ps: it's a waist of time trying to record in real time, when you can bounce and import in a matter of secounds.

  • Best way to rearrange audio slices?

    What's the best way to move audio slices around? Is there a simple way to do that using flex time that I haven't discovered yet? I usually do alot of snare replacing on live drums, taking one hit where the drummer hit hard, and pasting it in to replace weaker hits. There doesn't seem to be a way to grab a flex slice with the mouse and move it around ...
    I've used the new drum replacement feature on L9 and it works well, but was wondering if flex audio offers a better, more elegant way to move slices around other that just cutting and pasting them the "old fashioned" way.
    Thanks

    Greetings,
    You could always try to convert your loop into an EXS24 instrument and move the midi notes around. I can totally see what you mean though. It would be nice to simply re-order or replace the slices right on the arrange window. As for converting to EXS, the transients don't quite read as nice as I would like them to, so converting might still be a little unfriendly.
    I still do it the "older" fashion way, by opening ReCycle 2.1 (its 2010 and still Rosetta) slicing my loop and importing into Logic. Only there can you rearrange at will within the imported folder that's created once you imported the REX. On the upside, you get complete control of your transients along with ReCycle's stretch algorithm.
    I second the ability to rearrange flex (slice) transients directly on the arrange window.
    Hey, it could happen. Crazier things have.
    Cheers

  • Whats the best way to check the speed of my macbook Pro

    Hi people.
    I just wanted to get some advice on how my Mac is running, as i think it has become slower since i bought it and wondered if it is anything i have done or should be doing
    First of all, i have a MBP bought mid 2011, has thunderbolt port, its 2.3Ghz Intel i5, 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3, 320Gb HD and now running Mountain Lion.
    When i first got it i thought it was quicker than anything i have used previously, an example would be when i click to open an apple program e.g. iphoto, the icon jumped up and then seconds later it was open. Now any program i try to open, it seems to take much longer, it bounces for a while and then finally opens.
    I have not got any clutter on the laptop, i keep all my files on a network hard drive. The only thing i have is 80Gb of photos stored under iphoto and i have Windows XP running on a 40Gb partition using Bootcamp.
    I am thinking about getting rid of the XP on my mac to see if it helps, but thought i would ask here first. I need XP as it allows me to run programs which dont support Apple OS X.
    I was also wanting to know the best way to store photos, would i be able to store the photos on my network drive and have iphoto work exactly the same..?
    Help much appreciated.

  • What's the best way to deal with floating point errors?

    What's the best way to deal with the decimal number errors in Flex?
    Lets say I have:
    var number1:Number = 1.1;
    var number2:Number = 1;
    var result:Number = number1 - number2;
    trace(result);
    I get "0.10000000000000009".
    What's the best way to deal with this so that i get the right result?
    Using the trick: result = Math.round( result * Math.pow(10,13) ) / Math.pow(10,13); is not useful as such when using big numbers.
    For example, If number1 = 100000000001.1, and number2 = 0.2, I get "100000000000.90001" as result. The previous rounding fixes rounding errors after 13th decimal, but here the first rounding errors come after 4 digits.
    The toPrecision method in Number and NumberFormatter dont seem be of use by themselves because of the same reason.
    So I'd have to check how big the number is, and then round the number based on that.
    So far I've constructed a method that does that with logarithms like this:
    public function floatFix(number:Number):Number{
          var precision:int = 14-Math.floor(Math.log(Math.abs(number))*Math.LOG10E);
          var precisionFactor:Number = Math.pow(10, precision);
          return Math.round(Number(number*precisionFactor))/precisionFactor;
    It just seems rather odd that one would have to create and use something like that to just count 1.1-1; There's a lot of calculating in that method, and i'm guessing that having to use that in a loop could slow down a program quite a bit.
    I think there really should be a pre-built method in flex for something like this, but I can't find any.
    Anyone know any better/faster ways?

    Use the application server database pooling services to create a datasource that can be access using JNDI.
    Move the database access code to a Servlet so that a JSP submits a form to the Servlet that does the database access and packages the data into a bean which is passed to another JSP to be displayed.

  • What is the best way to separate functionality ?

    I have this project where I need to develop a component  for other flash developers to use. The scenario if you are the one who's going to use my "component" is like this:
    1) you create a new project
    2) you load the provided swf (or include the provided swc file) file and use the documented api (using interfaces if loaded as swf) to initiate it (for example just call the initiate function and that's it). What the component does itself is pretty much just adding a start up functionality to the website you are building, which includes: functions which make httpRequests and get data which the website will use, loading modules with fonts/graphic assets. It will also communicate the progress of these to the main application so the flex dev can display the progress to the user. At the end when the component has finished prepearing the assets you'll need for the website it notifies the main application.
    3) And there is where the flex dev start his work using the api provided with the component to access the data he needs.
    So what I want to do is package and keep my component source code compiled (to restrict access to the source code) and provide and easy way for the developers to use it. So I figured there 2 ways of doing that:
    1) compile a module/application swf
    2) complie a swc with a singleton
    I started doing it with module swf when I started wondering if that's the best way to do it. I would be happy if someone could give me any thoughts on this one, pros and cons maybe why should I do that and not the other, hopefully an adobe employee will take a look too. Thanks in advance!

    Actually, can I even compile swc files from flex using framework components like httpRequest and then load them as RSL ?
    *UPDATE:
    Seems like I can make my custom component include it in a library project, export it as swc and include that swc as RSL in my actual Flex project.
    But I'm still not sure which approach is better, using RSL for this case or just a module? Does it make any difference ?
    Also another question that rises in my mind is that if using RSL which class should I extend from, when this component will have no visual representation but should be able to do httpRequests and load modules/applications?

  • Best Way to Define Employee Numbering For Different Countries

    HI all
    I am working on for a project which will be for Multiple countries.But Each country has different Instances.Now the questions is What could be the Best way to Define Employee numbering for all the Regions ? As for as My knowledge goes It would be Number prefixed by Country.Then How we can have Alpha numeric in employee Coding ? We need to have Fast Formula to Ahieve this task.If any body has come across this scenario please share your thoughts .Any thoughts are greatly Appreciated.
    Cheers
    Kumar cs

    If you have each country on a different instance and you want employees to retain their employee number on transfer between countries, I believe you have two options:
    i) Use manual numbering. One recent change to the system is that you can update the numbering profile from Auto to Manual and back to Auto again. So you could potentially leverage this manual workaround when a cross BG transfer happens.
    ii) Bespoke module to export all emp numbers into a 'central repository', e.g., flat file, that can be accessed by all instances, imported regularly and then referenced by your Fast Formula. You would also need processing to determine when a person is a transfer from another BG or a new hire; probably have to be some control field on flex. Basically, this is a requirement made difficult by the decision to host each legislation on a different instance; I would never recommend clients to go down this route but I guess it's too late in your case.
    If cross BG transfers are not common, e.g., less than 5 a week, I would recommend option 1.

  • Best way to work with multiple photograph angles?

    We are going to be taking 360 degree view photography shots of certain objects and placing these objects on to different backgrounds so the shots will look something like this:
    We expect to have about 20 shots of each object and about 5-10 objects per photoshop file. So basically these will be single images all taken at different angles in which we will also be clipping off the background and placing them on transparent layers so that they can be overlayed onto different backgrounds.
    I'm wondering what would be the best way to streamline this process. We need to be able to pick the correct shot at the right angle to fit the perspective of the background, once we do we will only be using that one image and all of the angles will not need to be used.'
    Does anyone have any suggestions? I've considered creating folders for each object and a different layer under each folder for each angle/shot, however I think that may be a bit tidious to find the right angle. I've also considered creating some kind of an animation so I can scroll through the timeline and the images change in order as if the object was actually spinning in a 3D/360 view like this: http://3dbin.com/public/zummarva but im not sure if that will work or if it would make the photoshop file very big. Ideally I would also like to keep the photoshop files as small as possible.
    I'm not sure if it is possible to use photoshops 3D plugin so the images can be rotated as if it were a 3D object?
    Thanks
