Best Way to Capture

I been using FCP for a while. I am PC Vegas convert. I started editing vido on iMovie. I liked the fact that iMovie and even Vegas makes individual clip when capturing and it detects when camara starts and stops. If there a setting on FCP capture like that.
Also in iMovie each clip has a time stamp. it tells the duration time date etc. I had project where we used 2 cameras. But I can't figure out how to sync these footage My assumption was if there was time stamp on the capture clip it will be so easy to do that.
Also, I am getting message saing that the audio bit rate is differen then what is on the tape. It plays ok but it bothers me.
thanks all..

As stated above, you have to forget imovie.
FCP performs non-destructive editing, like other professional nle's. Basically that means when you capture a clip, there it is, and there it stays. you can use the same clip over and over in a sequence, using different portions, slice and dice any way you like, the captured media remains the same. Anfcp sequence is really only a set of instructions as to how to play back portions of the media, with a GUI.
What's the point of logging? If you have to ask, I almost despair at giving you an answer.
Logging your media is a part of the editorial process. Should you ever have to recapture a project at a later date, it's simply a matter of feeding tapes to fcp when it asks for them.
A logged clip is a joy forever. When you "capture now" you risk the inability to ever recapture the same way twice, making all your previous work worthless.
There are plenty of other reasons, but this is wearying and unpleasant to type. Unrewarding.

    The class java.util.Date is not itself deprecated, however several of its methods are.
    For converting string -> date, you should use the class java.text.SimpleDateFormat. That allows you to specify format strings such as MM-dd-yyyy hh:mm:ss for converting date -> string -> date.
    If you are wanting to set day/month/year on the date object directly, instead of the Date methods setDay, setMonth, setYear, you should instead use the java.util.Calender class:
    calendar.set(Calendar.MONTH, 4);
    The calendar can then be converted to a Date object by calling calendar.getTime().
    If you are going to use the date as part of a sql query, I would recommend using a Prepared statement, and the java.sql.Date/java.sql.Timestamp class as well.
    To convert from java.util.Date to java.sql.Date)
    jva.util.Date utilDate = Calendar.getInstance().getTime();
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getTime());cheers,

  • Using LabView version 6.1, Best way to capture data every 5 milliseconds

    Best way to capture data every 5 ms (milli-seconds) in the .vi diagram when using "Time between Points, and Small Loop Delay tools"

    I have no idea what "Time between Points, and Small Loop Delay tools" is. If this is some code you downloaded, you should provide a linke to it. And, if you want to acquire analog data every 5 milliseconds from a DAQ board, that is possible with just about every DAQ board and is not related to the version of LabVIEW. You simply have to set the sample rate of the DAQ board to 200 samples/sec. If it's digital data, then there will be a problem getting consistent 5 msec data.

  • What is the best way to capture off of an AVCHD Camera in final cut?

    Im kinda new to final cut pro so, please don't flame me. I was hoping to capture some extra footage on to my system through my AVCHD camcorder. And i want to know the best way to do so? Thanks for the answers.

    I was not successful using mpegstreamclip for this. However, I found VoltaicHD from ShedWorx and it works great. Simply load all the clips you want to convert, assign a location and walk away. The result is beautiful HD .movs ready to be imported into FCP. I paid about $35 for it and it was well worth it.

  • Best Way to Capture Stored Procedure Calls through Extended Events?

    I am trying implement Real Simple Solution for Database Monitoring:
    If any of the RPC Calls takes more than 200 milliseconds or more than 10K Reads , I want to compile the list on daily basis and sent out an email to our team. We usually did that through RPC Completed event through Profiler.

  • HTML form Date field - what's the best way to capture it on the backend?

    Hi,
    What would be a good way to capture a text field that contains a date string?
    In my app I have a page with several text fields, that are populated by a calendar pop-up. On the server side I can capture them into a java.util.Date object, but Date is dperecated.
    Should I still use Date or is there a better way?

  • Best Way to Capture Streaming mp# for Download and Burn?

    Anyone have any suggestions on capturing streaming audio in mp3 format for download and burning to a CD-R disc for private listening away from the computer (Intel Duo2Core)?
    What I want to capture is definately legal download but it only seems to want to download into Quicktime, and I can't figure how to get that into a format so I can import to iTunes and burn to a CD so I can listen in my car when I drive.

    Actually that is one of the reasons I use Audio Hijack. Maybe WireTap is different now, but earlier versions would record ALL sounds, including system beeps and application alerts. Audio Hijack can record on a per application basis, excluding sounds from other apps that don't belong in that recording.
    Audio Hijack records a standard audio file in the format of your choice (MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, WAV etc). Once it's recorded, you can play it back in any sound app you like, or move it into iTunes so you can sync it to your iPod, or burn the file to a CD.
    It records in real time, so if you want to record an hour of audio, you have to let it run for an hour, like a VCR. This is the only way to capture real-time streams. That said, if you wanted to record a program like This American Life that is also available as a ready-made podcast or audio file, you should download the podcast version instead of recording it, because it would be faster to download the ready-made file instead of recording it in real time.
    WireTap and Audio Hijack are for when no easily downloadable file is available, and only streams are provided.

  • Best way to capture changes on VBPA table.

    Hi:
    Which is the best way to have an extractor based on VBPA table, but including the "changed on" date to have the appropiate delta in BI?

    Hi,
    When you check :SE11 is that VBPA is a child table to VBUK and VBUK is having Last Changed date.
    May be you can create a view between these 2 tables by selecting all the columns from VBPA and Last Changed date from VBUK.Here my assumption is that there should be a transaction which updates both table together and whenever any field is getting changed in the VBPA the Last Changed Date in VBUK is also getting updated.
    If the above is true and tested based on the view you can achieve the delta.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards

  • Best way to Capture Analog Video (via DV)

    I have no issues with capturing DV video froma DV Camcorder in PRE. The process is very smooth and I really am comfortable with it. However, when I am capturing my old wedding and other personal VHS tapes (via an ADTech Pyro AV) I really hate the capture capablities within PRE ( I am use PRE 7).
    I was wondering if there is any advantage to using PRE for the DV Capture for my Analog material verses using either Windows Import Video, or using some other capture program like Pinnacle Studio (which allows me to specifiy the length of the capture verses having it just run on until I stop it.) Most of my VHS tapes are 2 hours in length and I would like to be able to say capture 125 minutes then stop (so I could just run the captures at night or while I am otherwise not using the computer.) With PRE7 it will just continue capturing forever until I stop it, which creates some enormous files that then need to be trimmed.
    (Does anyone know a way to tell PRE to just capture for x amount of time on a analog to DV Capture?)
    Is a DV Capture the same regardless of program? Is there any advantage to actually running the capture through PRE7 verses external where I can provide better control over the length and time of the capture.

    If your ADS Pyro AV Link is set up right and capturing over FireWire, you should get the same quality no matter what program you use to capture -- and that quality should be as good as the original. Premiere Elements does nothing to change the video data of DV as it captures; it just saves it as it comes in.
    But I would not recommend using any program or device that captures as anything other than DV-AVIs. Otherwise you're dealing with conversion issues and possibly incompatible video files, etc.
    Does that answer your question?

  • What is the best way to capture RGB8 image to memory for later write to disk?

    HI-
    I have been using the code below for some time now but wonder if an expert can take a look and let me kown if there are ways to improve it.  Problem I run into is that I preallocate the memory beforehand (camera.buffering[]), and with a 5 MP camera, this takes up a lot of RAM.  It seems like when I am running this program in debug mode all day and constantly start/stop it without allowing it to free the memory gracefully, i eventually bog the system and start getting Out of Memory error -12, in other places in my code such as DisplayBitmap or GetBitmapfrom File.  Is this all related to how much memory I am trying to allocate prior to begining the camera capture routine below?  Am I not allocating and free-ing it properly?
    Code is below for how I grab the image and then send to memory usign memcpy.  Is there a better, more efficient or faster method?  I have removed error checking/etc from code below simply to save space. This operates at 15 fps.
    I also included my allocation and free-ing code, too.
    Thanks in advance.

    stat = imaqScale (scaledimage, rotateimage, 4, 4, IMAQ_SCALE_SMALLER,IMAQ_NO_RECT);

    //memory allocation code//
     camera.buffering = (int **)malloc(camera.maxcount*sizeof(int*));
     for(i=0;i<camera.maxcount;i++)
          camera.buffering[i] = (int *)malloc(camera.info.pixelsPerLine*camera.CAMY*camera.bytesperpixel);
    // free allocated memory code//
     for(x=0;x<camera.maxcount;x++)
             free(camera.buffering[x]);
    free(camera.buffering);

    How many images are you storing in RAM?  Typically when I need to work with tens, hundreds, or even thousands of images, I save them to the hard drive after I capture them as a PNG with 1000 quality.  Sometimes I process them before saving, sometimes I process them offline from the saved images depending on the application.  If you don't need all of the images simultaneously in memory at once, just save them to PNG.  If you only process one image at a time, only allocate enough memory for the processing you need to perform on a single image.

  • Best ways for Capturing video using SD cards

    Hi
    I have a lab of Imacs and we also have mostly Canon FS200's with SD cards. I'm experimenting with different software to capture the video using both streamclip and IMovie, but find that both will cause problems. The biggest problem is that the audio is out of sync. Is there any way to use final cut Pro version 6 that will accomplish this task more efficiently? Or should I use some other program?

    The manual is embedded in the application. You can access it from the help menu and open it in Preview. Save it as a separate PDF. Or you can hack the application contents and copy it from there. PDFs are much better any way as they search incredibly quickly compared to trying to search an index that spans three volumes.

  • Best way to capture session attributes?

    I want to gather usage data from my Servlet. For example, when a user visits the Servlet and performs a keyword search, I want to capture the term(s) searched for and the number of hits.
    I have this working with a listener that's defined in the deployment descriptor. Each time an attribute is replaced in or removed from the session, the Listener captures it and saves it with the session info.
    My problem is that knowing which attributes go together (from one submission to the next) is pure conjecture, and while it may work, it doesn't seem like a very good design.
    What is the proper way to gather this sort of information? Can the attributes be sent as a group to the Listener for each submission? Or is there another (better) way?
    Thanks for reading.

    Hi Quirky,
    I'm not sure what you mean exaxtly, post a little code please, from your listener where you are collecting the data. However wouldn't it be better to cache the data in the session object for each client? If you are gathering data from the whole app and you don't care about following the path of each client through the app then a filter would be less fine grained and simpler I would think.
    See ya
