Best way to clean 20" iMac G5 screen

Anybody know the safest way to clean the 20" LCD screen? I have a bottle of KlearScren. I think it's best to spray onto the cleaning cloth and then wipe the screen, but is there a suggested wiping motion so as not to scratch or damage the screen? Am I being to timid about it?

I mean totally disconnect the machine from any where near any power source.
Shut down correctly and then pull the plug from the wall BEFORE making any attempt to clean the computer.
I never use 3rd party cleaning products. Water had alwyas been good enough.
Using distilled water is even better. The cloth must be lint free and as soft as you can find. Avoid synthetic materials.... They can leave scratches.
Again I stress that the cloth must be only just damp - If it drips its too wet!!!
Please post back when you have done the cleaning so that I, at least, know that you have not been electrocuted

Hi, I've had my iMac for about five years, the white 20-inch iMac. I've noticed some flickring on the screen when I change window; looks like static for just a mili-second on screen. Also, sometimes I see dots and lines in the dropshadow of active windows... I've heard this is due to dust in the fan. What would be the best way of cleaning it out?

Could also just be an accumulation of dust on the botton grill work and small air intake behind the stand that is causing the iMac and graphics to run hot.
Every few months I shut down (stopping the fans) and vigorously vacuum the bottom grill work and small intake of my 2006 Early Core Duo to keep it running cool.
Check your current tempuratures with iStat Pro, vacuum the air intakes and check again. Apple - Downloads - Dashboard Widgets - iStat Pro
Unfortunatly if however the Graphic's chip is damaged from repeated overheating, then really the only fix is a very expensive repair or a new iMac.

Best way to clean 2010 MBP antiglare screen

Anyone got any tips on the best way to clean the antiglare screen on 2010 MBPs?
I have a couple of fingerprint smudges etc. on it but haven't wanted to attempt to clean it with anything as I don't know much about the surface of the screen (and therefore what might potentially ruin it!)

Do not use any cleaning agents other than pure (preferably distilled) water, so no residue is left.
Have 2 soft cloths. Dampen one, wipe the screen with it in even up/down motion, and then immediately dry up the screen with the dry cloth, so no streaks are left. Do not rub too much, just gently mop up the thin film of water.
This works really well for finger prints and stuck dust.
If you only have a few dust specs, try compressed can of air first.

It's a damp soft cloth. Like a microfiber cloth you'd see for eyeglass cleaning. Damp, not wet, and just water, no chemicals.
Unless your screen is really grungy, simply wiping away the fingerprints should help.

I never used any spray ever with the cloth so there cannot be any ''leftovers'' of spray in the cloth.
I guess my eyeglass cloth also is microfiber, but not for sure. But its very soft and there is no dirt in it. And its linnen free. And it also works awesome. Fingerprints are ereased very easily but i don't want to damage my screen.
Does anyone know if this can damage (by any reason) ? And if so, i used i one time, will it already be damaged ?:)

Everytime I have had my Mac in at Vertical IT in St Kilda they clean my screen and my machine which is a brilliant service but I always forget to ask them what they use to do it? I have heard windex may do the trick but doesn't it have chemicals in it that could damage the screen? Thanks!

The user guide recommends that one dampen a lint free cloth with water and use it to clean the screen. There are a few commercial products that work well, including Monster iClean and iKlear. Be sure to avoid any product with alcohol or ammonia. Also, whether you use water or a cleaning product, spray the cloth, not the screen directly.

i got my new mac a few months back and i remember asking at the store what the best way to clean the screen was and was told that the new screens where a special glass that required a special cleaning product, and of course i didn't write it down. i just want to make sure i don't scratch my beautiful new screen...and if i can do it with a fairly affordable product that would be even better.

I think there is iKlear, but I never tried it, it's pretty expensive.
Apple themselves say you should use their cloth with a little(!) water (see imac manual).
I just use the dry apple cloth and from time to time I use a little glass cleaner and a soft cloth. works well for me, others say that alot of glass cleaners are not good for the display, I can't say that's true
