Best way to clean your screen?

What's the best way to clean the screen on a MacBook?
Should I just turn it off and thoroughly wipe it down with the cloth that it came with? Or would something like a damp paper towel be better?

A slightly damp soft cotton or microfiber cloth might be better. Myself I spritz a microfiber cloth with Invisible Glass and then wipe the glass, kb, and case.

What is the best way to clean display screen on ipad4?

    Hello earl6,
The following article provides details on how to clean various Apple products.
    iPads
    iPad and iPad 2
Handle your iPad with care to maintain its appearance. If you are concerned about scratching or abrasion, you can use one of the many cases sold separately. To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe iPad’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.

  • Best way to clean my screen...?

    hey all
I have had my macbook since july, and i was wondering whats the best way to clean my screen?? This screen looks much more sensitive than my prior HP laptops, so i'm deathly afraid of leaving scratches...so i have just gone without touching it at all!! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi bejerble,
best way is not to touch the screen, and you can use compressed air in can to blow the dust away (do not spray to close).
if you really need to clean it off from smudge or finger print, you can use soft micro fiber fabric that slightly damped with water and wipe the screen without applying too much pressure.
IF the smudge or oily dirt won't go away that easily, I usually use water based glass cleaner and just spray lightly to the damp fabric (not directly to the screen), and wipe it couple more time.
    Good Luck.

  • Best way to clean LCD screen w/o destroying it?

After several thousand sneezes, coughs and splashed coffee, my PowerBook's screen is looking rather gross -- lots of spots and smudges.
What's the safest way to clean the screen w/o risking scratches, abrasions, melting and shorting out the display? Thanks.

    My method:
I use a large soft cloth, iClear screen cleaning fluid and a small medium-weave Microfibre towel.
Place the soft cloth (it should be larger than your PB) flat on a table.
Open the PB so the screen is at a right-angle to the keyboard area.
Lay the PB on its back (Apple logo on reverse of screen flat onto cloth).
Spray some iClear onto the Microfibre towel (insted of spraying directly onto screen). Don't soak it through, you don't need much.
Using horizontal strokes and light pressure, wipe screen from side to side with the Microfibre.
Repeat until marks are gone, and finally buff with a dry side of the Microfibre.
Done this for years, never scratched a screen, treat my Apple LCD the same way and am rather
    particular about Car Detailing!

  • Best way to clean imac screen...

    Hi...
wondering the best way to clean the imac screen - first time i have had a lcd screen
    thanks

    Nick,
The user guide recommends that one dampen a lint free cloth with water and use it to clean the screen. There are a few commercial products that work well, including Monster iClean and iKlear. Be sure to avoid any product with alcohol or ammonia. Also, whether you use water or a cleaning product, spray the cloth, not the screen directly.

What is the best way to clean a laptop screen?

If you are only talking about fingerprints and dust, a microfiber cloth works great.  Gets everything off without scratching.
If there are things on the screen that don't come off by wiping, do not use chemical or spray products as they can get into places they don't belong.  A slightly damp cloth, very very slightly damp not wet, and wipe only on the screen surface, not along the edges where moisture can get inside.
But if you use any moisture you have to be really careful as electronics and liquids do not play well together.

  • What is the best way to clean your iPhone 5 screen ?

I Just bought an iphone 5 and i was wondering how i can clean my screen.
I used an eyeglass cloth, can i use that ?
Or is there a better way ?
    Thnx!

I never used any  spray ever with the cloth so there cannot be any ''leftovers'' of spray in the cloth.
I guess my eyeglass cloth also is microfiber, but not for sure. But its very soft and there is no dirt in it. And its linnen free.  And it also works awesome. Fingerprints are ereased very easily but i don't want to damage my screen.
Does anyone know if this can damage (by any reason) ? And if so, i used i one time, will it already be damaged ?:)
    Thanks!

  • Best way to clean the screen?

I can't fully clean my screen. It is always dirty with finger prints here and there. What is the BEST and SAFEST way?

Despite the cool features and operation of your MacBook Pro, it is indeed quite delicate. After eight months of ownership I have traveled to Europe twice and bounced around the airports here in the states quite often while using my Mac in every conceivable dirty location. I’ve only had to actually clean my machine twice in this period. I use a standard clean micro-fiber lens cleaning cloth with bottled water. It works. If you have accumulated any crud, then simply apply a small amount of plastic lens cleaner to the water dampened lens cloth and that will gently remove most any soil from the case. BTW: if haven’t already done so, consider a Marware case protector that will greatly reduce the accumulation of stains, scratches, etc from developing on the wrist area. I don’t think much of the overly thick keyboard cloth that’s included with it although the stick on pad works very well and adds a nice appearance to an already beautiful Mac.

  • Best Way To Clean iPhone Screen?

I've had my iPhone since the day it came out and, as such, it's been jostled a fair bit.
I use the cleaning cloth that came with it but sometimes there are spots that it can't get off.
I'm afraid of using anything wet on it, even a damp cloth.
Someone recommended alcohol-based solutions but I'm not sure.
What is the absolute best way to keep this thing clean?

Yup! That's what I was gonna say was rubbing alcohol. I just dabbed a cotton bud in a little bit of peroxide and wiped the screen; everything came right off. If you're concerned about damp stuff, you can squeeze out most of the liquid from the cotton bud first before rubbing it on the screen.
To be completely honest, though, in my case I do not have to deal with cleaniness that frequently. I've had my phone in a case with a plastic cover film on the face almost since the day I got it. I don't remember why I pulled it out of it's case for a little bit there, but I do remember it got dirty and this was a great way to shine it up!

  • Best way to clean screen?

Every now and then my screen gets slighty dirty. What is the best way to clean the screen? Recommended products??

My MacBook came with a beautifully packaged microfiber cleaning cloth in the same box with the user guide and install discs. I don't plan on using it, but you can find similar cleaning cloths at an optometrist or the eyeglass repair/contact lens care section of most discount stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc). I personally buy eyeglass cleaning cloths at the Wal-Mart optical dept afor use on my glasses, cameras, and LCD displays.

  • Best way to clean screen of new imac?

i got my new mac a few months back and i remember asking at the store what the best way to clean the screen was and was told that the new screens where a special glass that required a special cleaning product, and of course i didn't write it down. i just want to make sure i don't scratch my beautiful new screen...and if i can do it with a fairly affordable product that would be even better.

I think there is iKlear, but I never tried it, it's pretty expensive.
Apple themselves say you should use their cloth with a little(!) water (see imac manual).
I just use the dry apple cloth and from time to time I use a little glass cleaner and a soft cloth. works well for me, others say that alot of glass cleaners are not good for the display, I can't say that's true

  • Best Way to clean monitor???

I want to know the best way to clean my screen on my MB Pro. Im afraid to clean it with anything because i dont want to mess it up... Any suggestion are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Wood fibre as you describe would not be allowed into the food chain and hence, not allowed into the manufacture of kitchen paper towel.
Sorry Ned but that is simply not true. Paper towels are a paper product. As such they are manufactured just like other paper products.
From Bounty's Web Site FAQ #4: How are Paper Towels Made.
We make Bounty from trees that are processed into pulpwood. Long fibers from softwood trees, such as pine and spruce, are used. After debarking, the pulpwood is turned into chips that are cooked. The natural "glue" that holds the fibers together is removed, leaving a fibrous pulp mixture. The pulp goes through cleaners and screens and is bleached to make it absorbent. The pulp then goes through a high-speed paper machine. A translucent substance called resin is added to the mixture to strengthen the paper when it is wet. The water is removed and the fibers bond to form sheets of paper. Two layers of paper are combined with a thin layer of adhesive and embossed to form many tiny air pockets that rapidly attract moisture. Diamond shapes are pressed into the paper to give it a quilted pattern that holds water. Designs made with water-based printing inks are added to some Bounty rolls.
Orange Sodas contain wood resin as well. Just because it has wood fibers in it does not make it inedible, just a poor choice for cleaning monitors, lenses and eyeglasses.
That being said I would never consider a paper towel to be edible either. Bleach is not exactly on the food chain nor are the inks used for patterned towels. Those two ingredients aside humans lack the enzymes to properly split cellulose molecules into sugar molecules. They will pass through if you don't ingest huge amounts..but edible? Not really.
And I would not presume anything is edible simply because it comes in contact with food, so does aluminum foil, plastic wrap, wax paper, teflon, Silverstone and other non-stick materials. None of which are edible.
Anyway a very off-topic debate over what makes a good or bad choice for cleaning screen
BTW have you ever really looked at what goes into a hot dog? I eat them but I try really hard not to thing about it <g>

what is the best way to clean a soft screen on a laptop

i dont know what you mean by "a soft screen", but read this: To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen the included cleaning cloth with just water and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.
