Hey,
Having backed up my Macbook Air using an external hard drive and Time Machine - I just needed some guidance in what best to do now to clear up my laptop please.
I've started to get a message that my 'start up disc is full' - now I have backed up my laptop what is the best way to completely clean up/delate everything so I can effectively start again from scratch? and also when time machine backs up, does it back up all the profiles on my computer too? I have a few family members who have accounts too on my computer..

You don't provide enough information onto which anyone could reasonably formulate an answer.
As mentioned, you don't indicate the circumstances that would warrant consideration of multiple partitions. Moreover, you also don't indoicate the size of the SSD in question.
Like Fred said, ordinarily you leave it alone as one. Some people like to keep data and the OS/apps separate, but it is for specific reasons.

My daughter is a Medical Student with a 2013 MacBook Air 256 SSD. I should have anticipated her video, (lecture), storage requirement. Anyhow what is the best solution to expand her storage capabilities beyoun 256 gb and maintain some sense of portibility? A high capacoty USB drive?

You would have to buy a third-party piece of hardware to do that. There is no other way to connect two monitors to a computer that has only one video out port.

Yes. For those two applications specifically there is sharing. This presumes both computers are on and connected to the same network.
In iPhoto, enable sharing by (on the iMac) going to the iPhoto menu > Preferences > Sharing > check Share my photos. You can either share the entire library or only selected albums. Now on your MacBook Air, in iPhoto, go to the same preference pane and select Look for shared photos.
iTunes has something similar. In the iTunes menu > Preferences > Sharing > check Share my library on my local network. On the other computer, look in the left column for SHARED and select the iMac. You can now play that music on the MacBook Air.
There are other ways to share files but for those two applications this is the simplest way.

Sorry, I don't like "skins". They inhibit the heat transfer necessary to keep your MBA cool. Get a soft or hard case to store it when not in use. I like Speck products.
Just take care of it. Battle scars make it uniquely yours.

hey guys, what's the best way to charge macbook pro retina ? I know that it actually damages the battery to discharge it but how often should I leave it plugged into a/c ? I heard that if I leave it plugged in for too long, than it could also damage the battery.

assigning the length to 0 is the most efficient way to clear an array.

I use an app called FileApp to transfer photos to my PC - I can then selectively delete photos from my iPhone and still have them on my PC - just download the app to your iPhone and follow the instructions for the accompanying program for your PC - then use your iPhone cable to connect - iTunes will also start up so just close it and you will see the iPhone storage as a drive - go the DCIM folder and open the device folder and you will see your photos.

Use a collection for the dataProvider, and call removeAll();
Call it on the hide, show or change events.
Avoid raw Array an XMLList as dataProviders.

Is there a way to prevent MacBook Air to go to sleep when using Spotify?

I have a Macbook Air with the latest version of Maverics and I often listen to music on it, via airplay and headphones. This works great, but when I'm not using the computer for anything else but spotify it goes to sleep after the specified time and I loose the sound. I wonder whether there is way to adjust the settings so that only certain programs like Spotify can prevent my Mac from going to sleep when they are active.

Any way to share MacBook Air's external SuperDrive with PC?

Not really sure if this is the right spot to put this question but I couldn't really think of a better one. Here's my problem: I've got a PC which I need to run the backup disc creator on. Unfortunately, the optical drive on my PC doesn't work. My question is whether or not it's possible to share my MacBook Air's SuperDrive through my wifi connection. I know it's possible to utilize a PC's optical drive on a computer running OS X but does it work the other way around? Any answers would be greatly appreciated

System Preferences / Sharing, then check CD/DVD sharing. If you want to share files, check that area too, then—under Options—also check SMB protocol.
