Best Way to Embed Flash in DW??
What is the best way to embed a flash movie in Dreamweaver
w/o messing up cells/rows of a previous creation?
I have a site together & want to insert a movie on a page
& keep the nav bar the same from all the other pages , when I
insert the Flash movie it royally messes up all the rows &
cells
here's the site

"Messing up cells/rows" could mean quite a few things. For
example, you
would certainly have trouble trying to pack a 550 x 200 SWF
into a cell
whose dimensions were 50 x 22. Is that what you mean?

I checked out your URL, but didn't see any Flash on the home
page. In
fact, I didn't see Flash on any of the pages, but admittedly,
I only clicked
into a a few. I wonder if you mean that Flash content appears
*on top* of
your drop-down navigation -- is that it? If so, there's an

Best ways to embed Video??
What is teh best way to embed video in DW? Quicktime, WMV,
streaming? I have tried a few with varing results across different
browsers...
And suggestions - I have seen some very cool interfaces out
there but sadly the source for the player interfaces I cannot
find..
Any help would be appreciated..
I need the ability to set auto play or not - and other
options for video in the browser window or at least in DW.
Thanks in advanceIf you have the entire Studio, I would definitely convert to
Flash Video and
use the DW Insert/Flash Video dialogue to insert it. You have
a choice of
skins and you can set a lot of options .. surely the ones you
mention. Best
part is Flash Video is crystal clear with the ON2 codec in
Flash 8 and you
won't believe how small the file is, compared to the other
options.

Is there a way to EMBED Flash player?
Hello Earth-lings,
Good Day!
First of all, I have created a website for a client of mine
but whenever they wanted to
visit their 100% Flash website, they can see the 'Flash
Detection - Download Flash
Player from Adobe' prompt but they could not install the
downloaded Flash Player
as they got an error something like ' You don't have
privilages . Please contact your
Admin.'
Is there any way to solve this issue?
PS. Sorry for the 2x posts. But is there a way to embed Flash Player in it so that it's
easier for
them - what I meant was the trouble to inform their admin
just for
this. -
Best way to obtain flash developers.
We are a fortune 500 media company in mid-town Manhattan.
What would be the best way to obtain flash resources for our
flash video project?
Should I get a macromedia consultant, or look for someone
from the outside?
I agree that macromedia consultant may not get us the most
bang for our buck, but I would like to make sure I cover myself. If
something happens, I could at least say I had macromedia involved.
I was thinking of maybe a part-time macromedia consultant,
and another developer outside of macromedia.
What our my options? Not sure why a consultant would not get the most bang for
your buck!
Measuring in dollar per hour or dollar per productive hour is
the question
there.
The age old debate between consultant and employee will go
on, but a general
decision criteria is do you need a long term full time
employee or staff
that you will see gets professional development in this
rapidly changing
field of technology or do you have specific needs that will
expire in a
known time frame.
As for looking for a "Macromedia Consultant", you may find
looking for
"Flash Developer" or the new title "Adobe Developer" with
experience in
Flash Video and Flash Communications or Flash Media Server
development.
Also you can post to the adobe.general.job.opportunities
forum (might still
be macromedia.general.job. opportunites as my news reader
still reads it
that way) for candidates who might want some short term
assignments as well
as long term and permanent.

Best way to embed an Mov file into interactive flash game?
Hey,
just a quick query. I'm creating an interactive flash game for a university project. It's along the lines of Guitar Hero, Tap Tap Revolution, Boom Boom Rocket etc..
At the moment the game comprises of streaks of notes generated by Actionscript which the user much hit the corresponding key when notes are in the receptor. The background at the moment is an audio spectrum analyser created using AS based on the music playing.
I want to add loop movie file as the very background of the stage and was just wondering what was the best way to place it there with the least ammount of overheads. At the moment I have it in a child movie clip placed on the stage, in which I use File -> Import and embeded the FLV file into the time line. This works, however lags out quite badly.
Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance,
John MinnsHave you tried this method?
1. Save as new file.
2. With your usual color management preferences selected, run Xtras>Color>'Name all colors'.
3. In color swatches list, select all colors. From swatches pop-up menu 'Make RGB'.
4. In Preferences>Color, set color management settings to 'None'. The RGB colors should look about the same as they did with color management on.
Now you should be able to export to Flash with RGB colors that look quite close to your CMYK version of the file.
This should work the same in FH9 or FHMX. I hope it does the trick for you. -
What is the Best Way to Embed PDF in HTML?
In the past, I have included one page PDF's in web pages by placing the PDF in an iframes. This worked fine until recently. Starting with Safari 5.1.2 running under OS X 1.6.6, instead of opening within the original page, the PDF has opened in a new tab. Is there some other way to embed the PDF so this doesn't happen? Many thanks to all!
Move it into Flash and insert it as a progressive download.

saves as a

Best way to embed playable movies on website?
I have a video clip that I neede dto break down into pieces
and put in viewable form on a website. The file is currently a .wmv
file.
My plan was to use flash to make files that I could embed in
the website, and the end user could click on it to play it in the
web page. In reading how to do it in flash, it looked like there
was some action script requirements, I am not sure best how to make
it happen.
What is the best way to get my videos on the site? Should I
stick with flash, or get a reasonably priced 3rd party program that
automates the process, or go another route?

Hopefully your WMV is not already compressed/downsized from
the original
video. If it is, go back to the original file first. Take the
video file
into the Flash Video Encoder and make an FLV file. Then you
can either use
DW's built-in Insert | Media | Flash Video or you can use a
3rd party like

Best way to develop flash games for desktop + mobile, today
Hi
It has been a nice run of about 7 or 8 years now that we have developed Flash browser based games for the web exclusively. Of course with the ubiquity of mobile devices, things have changed. Clients are starting to demand, almost assume, that games will work in the browser - on the desktop and on their tablets.
Putting aside the whole discussion of using an HTML5/JS solution instead, we're sticking with Flash for the next project and need to figure out the best way to get it to run on the desktop browser and on the iPad, while maximizing code re-use.
Given the current state of technologies today, what is the best path? This game will be a 2D side-scroller type game, and development will be done mainly with bitmap graphics (as opposed to vector) and spritesheets :
Option 1: Develop the game targeting the 'standard' flash player for web, then port to an iOS AIR 3.2 app, doing appropriate optimizations.
Option 2: Use Starling/Stage3D for desktop, and then port to an iPad app. Just wondering if starling is ready for primetime making production quality games for mobile + desktop. Does Stage3D still work well enough in software mode on older machines?
Option 3: The new feature in CS6 that lets us publish to HTML5. Is this even close to mature enough to publish a full game? The benefit of this solution is that it could run in the browser on the iPad instead of being a separate app.
Thianks so much for any guidance.. I'm also wondering about pitfalls, and optimization techniques involved in any of these.
-richWell I don't know if I can give you 'guidance' without knowing the details of you and your project and all that, but here's my personal opinions:
Option 1: I would go for developing for iOS and Android first and then "in-brower" over the other way around. But I would actually develop for all targets at once so that I know I am not using a solution that breaks another platform/formactor that has to be redone later. iOS has allot more guidelines and things you have to consider than the the 'browser' where there is no approval proccess. So if you can get it approved on iOS then it should be able to go to Android and the browser without so much trouble, but the other way around you could really create allot of stuff that needs to be redone -- Apple is very strict on making sure that the users are not stuck with bad UI or a bad user experience(as is defined by their user interface guidelines). I have some projects that were made for in-browser flash first, and it has been hell porting them over to iOS/Android. The whole way they interact with the user has to be rethought for mobile/small screens/touch screens. If I had made them originally with mobile in mind, then it may not have been as much of an ordeal.
Option 2: I am not familiar with 'starling' or Stage3D, so I can't be helpful here.
Option 3: I was under the impression that the 'publish to HTML5' feature was just for animations, not ActionScript -- Maybe someone else can answer this for sure. Even if it could do ActionScript, there still may be no way to access some of the stuff an app could (saving levels/data/whatever to the device hard-drive, etc).
Anyhow, curious why you would want to avoid vectors? With so many screen resolutions, and the potential that they may get higher in the future (like they did with retina display on iOS), vector would make your project better suited to work on future devices without having to redo things and add higher resolution bitmaps later. If you have something that absolutely demands insane perfomance, then the bitmap/spritesheet stuff might be needed I guess... (or if it is some '8-bit retro' type of thing) -
Best way to watch flash videos??
Hey so I really would like to watch flash videos for either movies or clips, what is the best way/app to watch flash videos whether the app is free or not it doesnt matter.
could someone tell me the most effective app and has experience with it? Thanks!Search the app store. There are several alternate browsers that advertise the ability to play Flash content. However many people report very mixed results since the way these browsers work is to send the Flash content to a server to be converted to iOS format and then sent back to the browser. The bottom line is that Flash has never been supported on iOS so take that into consideration.
Most of the big web sites have long since supported iOS for video. I watch video clips, YouTube, etc. all the time on my iPad and don't really run into many sites that won't work. I'm sure there are and the best course of action is to encourage those sites to get with the plan and support mobile platforms like iOS and Android. -
Best way to put flash background on website?
Hello,
I am very new to both after effects and flash and need some help with a few things.
I am trying to put a flash background on my website that will loop over and over.
I created the file in after effects but understand that it is best to export to flash to keep file size down.
I have tried exporting from after affects using F4L, FLV, and XFL and always seem to get a file size of 2-4 MB.
My video is only 8 seconds long and I exported at half resolution so I am unsure why it is so large.
How can I reduce the file size?
When I import F4L and FLV to flash and then export as an SWF file, the file does not work on my website(nothing shows). It seems to only work when I import as an XFL and then export as an SWF.
Also, how do I get the video to loop? Do I do this in flash or in the object tags in my website?
If anyone could please help me out that would be much appreciated.
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.Don`t export to flv from after effects, instead choose png.
You will end up with having your pictures rendered as file001.png....file200.png.
Create a new fla press ctrl+F8 (on PC) and then import the first of the files (file001.png) to the stage. Flash will ask you if you want to import the rest of the animation as well.
Now from the Library you can drag your new created symbol (with the png loop) on stage. Publish it as swf.

Advice on best way to structure flash movie
Hi,
I'm a little mixed up on the best way to approach this movie I need to make. Basically it includes a loading screen, some narrative sections, and a few interspersed interactive sections (a couple of quizes and some forms to fill out).
I'm thinking because of the complexity I should seperate it into "scenes" but my understanding is scenes are bad, so I'm thinking I should be using movie clips for each major section?
I also want to have a controller for skipping forward and backwards, so let me see if I have this correct.
Would I have one master timeline with all my actionscript and what not and my navigation controller, and would each major section of the animation be a movieclip that would be trigger by a frame in the master timeline?
I pretty much have the whole thing storyboarded out, I'm just wondering the best most efficient way to do it.
One other question: is it bad practice to have a raster visual asset with an alpha based mask on the main timeline that overlays on top of all the nested clips? For example I have a "frame" with is an png with a abstract white border with the middle masked out that remains static throughout the entire movie. Or am I better off applying it to each movieclip.
Thanks. It will probably be easier to manage if you make each section a moiveclip by itself, That way you aren't always manipulating the main timeline to fit in or adjust for changes in each section. You can either spread them out along the timeline, using frame comands to navigate to the different sections, or you can have them all in one frame and control navigation by controlling the visibility of each section.
If the frame you mention is to be applied to each section, then having one on the main timeline to cover all would be easier to manage in most cases. -
Advice/opinions on best way to use Flash for website
Hi
I am working on an animation in After Effects (dimensions 1000px x 350px) which will sit in the masthead area of a website. I intend to render from After Effects as a flv (or as uncompressed avi and then convert to flv) and then import this into a mc and export as a swf to be placed in the masthead. However, I would be grateful for some feedback/suggestions on a couple of points...
My guess is that the final swf of flv will be about 9mb, which is quite hefty. I need the quality to be good and crisp. If you look at the excellent CS5 trailer on the adobe.com home page you will get an idea as to the quality I need. I'm guessing this is a fairly large file yet it plays great with hardly any pre-load. Any ideas how they achieve this? Using Media Server or streaming video isn't an option for me, only bog-standard progressive download.
One thing I thought was to break the animation down into a number of swfs and load these one after another. It needs to be seamless. Would that work - any ideas?
Ok, hope this post isn't too rambling. I'm excited about the project, but I could do with some ideas as how best to get a good looking video or swf to play in the masthead without long preloads etc.
Thanks in advance.

Best way to take Flash graphics/animations on web sites to HTML5 to play on all devices?
I have a number of web sites that have different elements I created in Flash. Galleries, menus, animations, etc. I need to make them playable on smart phones...including iPhones, and iPads/tablets. I don't want to go the "publish it as an app" route. Such as PhoneGap. Are there other ways to do it? Or is this the work flow that everyone is going to?
ThanksThis is a very abstract question. Flash CS6 and CC support CreateJS which can convert some types of simple projects to HTML5+JS for you. Download a trial and see how it works for you. Outside this the answer will be on a site to site basis. If the entire site is Flash, you should be rewriting the HTML5 yourself where you don't need Flash, such as basic images, text, backgrounds, etc. But again, the complexity of the project greatly determines how much work you'll need to do. There is no Staples Easy Button on this subject.

Best way to export flash movie for JAVA
Here is my dilema. I get all kinds of flash movies to post to our site. I had been asking for a final output of .swf, whenever possible. Occassionally I get some videos that have a player and I wind up with .swf and some related FLV files, which we always have problems with in our JAVA environment. We have issues locating the player files, sometimes they don't play for people with particular browsers etc.. The coders tell me that it is a problem with the "base" locations, and recommend that we get a single swf file and have the videos and players embedded into the .swf. They tell me that the browser sometimes cannot find the supporting files, and that it forces them to post the flash files on the root directory. Any ideas what might be happening here?
One other thing - I currently have an embedded swf file on one of our sites. It seems pretty heavy and skips - our Flash Developer did not include a loader. I sent it back to him to compress the file and include the swf. The developer is telling me that compressing the file won't do anything for me an that we should export it as an FLV file or have the FLV load into the swf. For one thing this is not a video - so I am not understanding why we would need an FLV. Am I misunderstanding something here.
Thanks! Thanks again Winston. (You helped me out in the past).
In my playing around, I was leaning toward AIC with a compressor pre-set of 1080i or p would give me decent results on export. I'm still a little confused over a number of the other options, and this seemed simplistic. (I'm still learning here as I go).
One question on that though if you would. Am I best off leaving the FPS settings to current? I am assuming I can experiment with that if I want to keep a computer copy, but for back to tape purposes, that seems to make sense to my simple mind.
On a side note, I was quite surprised at how good the default "large" export looks when viewed on the computer. I may keep that as my default for iTunes\Front Row.
Thanks again.
