You can setup an iCloud account and sync your Macs since you have Lion installed on both. If you have iCloud enabled, if for example you add a bookmark in Safari, that bookmark will sync via your Wi-Fi network to the other Mac automatically.

I have successfully installed VMware server on my machine and set up a virtual machine, powering Windows XP for study issues (emulation via wine does not do the trick for me). The virtual machine runs fast and stable but does not meet my requirements unless I have two issues faced:

How to access a USB pendrive monunted by the host system properly within the client?
Second:
What is the best way to share file system space between host and client? Should I set up a Samba share which is accessible for both host and client or is it save to grant my VM access to my physical hard disc as a whole (using it as a partition)?

Do not setup your VMware to be able to access your physical disk as a whole. This would have you mounting the filesystem twice, corrupting it in the process.
You /can/ setup VMware with Sharing Folders that lets you share your filesystem (either / or just /home or something else) and that is what I would recommend.
As for accessing the pen drive from both operating systems at once, I'd say use the same Sharing Folders method. I always share /mnt so that I can access my cdrom/USB/etc from the vmware OS.
The sharing folders is basically the same as a samba share, but uses vmware's own method (HGFS). Samba is more secure (if you are worried about your VMware OS breaking from it's shell and attacking your real filesystem, which is unlikely). You need the vmware tools installed to make use of it.

Please Advise On The Best Way To Keep Your Battery Healthy And Not Deformed

I am a black macbook (mb) user and have had my mb for 37 months now. after a year and a half, my battery (the first one) was deformed and i was advised to replace it quickly. i was also advised to calibrate my battery occasionally and so i did after that. but in just over a year after i replaced my battery, it is starting to deform and swollen. i have been following the advice and calibrated my battery as advised. my battery is still in normal condition according to the system profiler.
when i first bought my macbook, i was told NOT TO keep recharging my battery whenever i used it and the battery drains because this would make the battery's life shorter. i was also told it is OKAY to have the power plugged in. and so i did that. but it turned out that my battery had deformed from it. most probably from the heat but i don't know.
i use my macbook regularly. i keep it switched on almost 24 hours a day and i keep it well ventilated (i sit it on top of iLap) because i have my internet on 24 hours a day and use the internet regularly. i am not planning to replace my battery just yet even though the battery capacity has gone down to 77%. it's expensive here. i will keep on continuing with the calibrating every now and then. now it might be the magsafe's problem that the battery is deforming too soon. one time, the magsafe fell from my bed onto the floor quite hard. and since then it wasn't working properly. sometimes it heats up and it becomes too hot to hold for long. at times the battery would say 0:00 (time left charging) but the light doesn't change to green so i have to plug it out from my mb and from the main plug and rest it for about 10 seconds and then it runs as normal. i know i probably need to change the adapter soon.
anyway, i'm just asking. for someone who uses his mb regularly or everyday and almost 24 hours a day, what is your best advice on how to keep the battery healthy and in good condition for a long period of time?

If you're simply working in generic Motion project, ProRes 422 Quicktime files are the best format for going back and forth.
If you want to save a Motion project to use as a template in FCP X, it has to be one of the template Motion project types. Title, Generator, Effect, Transition. You would select these from the Template Browser that opens first when Motion is initially launched.
If you want to start creating templates, I stronly recommend Ripple Training's "Rigging and Publising" video course for Motion 5.

i just got a macbook pro and was wondering how often i should completely shut it down instead of just putting it on sleep. ive heard from people not to shut it down completely and rather jus put it on sleep. is this true?

I just put my mac to sleep unless I am going to leave on vacation or on business for more then a few days. But usually I only turn it on and off once a month to refresh everything. Other than that, I just put it to sleep when not in use and as stated before, just restart once a month. Is an external hard drive the best way to keep tons of photos and songs, or does it slow down the mac too much to retrieve it?

I have an old Macbook that has a bunch of pictures and songs on it, but few videos. What I do have is slowing it down, particularly iPhoto - I sometimes have trouble editing pictures because the RAM just isn't there (I have it maxed out at 2gb), or even organizing them. I have thought of moving my pictures off the mac onto a hard-wired external drive, but have been told it makes mounting iPhoto even slower to do so. What do people do that have many thousands of pictures?

Install software such as Paragon NTFS. Regardless of the method you use, back the data up; that drive may fail at any time.

How did you transfer the files to the iMac. If you exported the files out of the MB library using Kind = Current you should get the edited version. Any other option may not.
If you want to keep the two libraries "synced" any photos you want to move to the iMac should be added to an album, connect the two Mac with a LAN, Target Disk Mode, Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, with WiFi. and use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album from the MB library to iMac library. It will also copy the original and edited versions, keywords, titles, etc.

In iCloud Drive you could create two separate custom folders, one for work documents and one for private documents and organize your documents there. Don't use the app specific folders (Keynote, Pages, Numbers, ...) , because you can only create one level of folders inside these folders.

Best way to keep a BSO and ASO in sync?

Hi all,
I have been trying to find the best way to keep in sync the same outline. Source is a planning cube, while the "target" is an ASO one for reporting purposes.
My approach has been to use ODI in order to load the metadata in the Planning app, but after some research I figured out I cannot use ODI to build the ASO outline due to license restricitions (It isn't "free" for this).
As I already have created the interfaces to load the metadata in the planning app, I would like to keep this and then create a method in order use the BSO outline to get the ASO one
I know there is a wizard to convert the BSO outline to an ASO one, but I wonder if there is a way to execute and automate this process by using a command line script? and if yes, where I can find information about how to set this operation ( with all the automatic outline changes we found in the wizard)
I appreciate you comments and I'm open to receive you suggestions about any method to get both outlines in sync.

Though If you are using ODI to load planning metadata from a source you could create an essbase load rule to load from the same source to the ASO database.
I would have thought if you are not licensed to use ODI with ASO then you are not licensed to use ASO, it used to be that if you only had a license for planning then you couldn't use ASO.

Get a third drive if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, set it not to exclude that drive, and drag the files to it. If you're moving an iTunes or iPhoto library, launch the application with the Option key held down and choose the moved library.
