Best Way to migrate Planning application from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2

Hello Gurus,
What is the best way to move or upgrade the planning applications from EPM 11.1.1.3 to EPM 11.1.2.2 ?
Is there an option to use LCM to move the planning application by exporting it from EPM 11.1.1.3 and then importing it in EPM 11.1.2.2 .
I think there are many functions that are deprecated in EPM 11.1.2.2,hence it fails with errors.
I would like to know if there is any other way around.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
HyperEPM

If you are on 11.1.1.3 classic using Essbase business rules, you are forced to convert to calculation manager. You can't use Essbase Business Rules in 11.1.2.2.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_1112200/frameset.htm?launch.html see the "Business Rules Maintenance Release and Upgrade Installation Prerequisites"
Personally I would rewrite them to be safe - yes it takes longer but you know its safe and probably a good time to revisit it anyway.

  • Best Way to Migrate an application from one server to another

I couldn't seem to find the best way to this by Googling. If you have two instances of Sun Web Server 7, and you want to migrate a web application from one server to another, what is the best way to that?

I am sorry. My question was poorly worded after some hours of frustration. What I am really trying to do is develop a base virtual machine snapshot with Sun Web Server Loaded and a base set of applications.
When the need arises, I need to deploy another VM and start it up. There seems to be some issue with the host name of the VM and the administration server, or something. It is my impression that as longs as I have everything contained in one directory like /webserver, I should be able to copy everything to a new machine and start it up. I know I need the listeners listening on all ip addresses and the jdk being used would need to be in that directory as well. Is there anything I am missing here or that I need to watch out for?

  • What is the best way to port complete applications from DEV - Test - PRD?

    Hi,
One of my customers recently asked me, Supposing I do the complete integrations and modelling in SOA Suite on the DEV Environment. Then,
What is the best way to port complete applications from DEV -> Test -> PROD ??
Also, since the URLs in use in the DEV environment would be very different from other environments, what is the easiest way to maintain them, and to build in Access Control mechanisms ?

    Hi AJ,
    Nice PDF !
Though the PDF does give a basic idea as to how we can go about the deployments using ANT and EM in Test and Prod, it doesn't really give extensive details. For eg. ANT would obviously need huge ANT scripts to be written for migrations to multiple Test servers, etc.
Similarly, when we talk about EM, does it mean each of the services has to be manually deployed on Production ?
I am sure we would be looking more towards a fully automated solution. No ?

since the URLs in use in the DEV environment would be very different from other environments, what is the easiest way to maintain them, and to build in Access Control mechanisms ?You may use deployment plan for this purpose. For access control, you may use Role Based access of Weblogic and EM. Please refer -

    Hi Jay,
good news for you - since Oracle 11g it is allowed to have a physical standby between Windows and Linux. So the absolutely easiest way would be to build up a standby on your new Linux server, do a switchover with one minute downtime at a maximum ... and that's it.
You may check ML Note:413484.1 for certification (the table shows which OS mix is allowed).
The process will be the following:
    1) Let RMAN build up your standby automatically through the network while your PROD is still running
    2) Once RMAN has done this job you'll do a simple switchover
If a standby solution is not an option for you, then you could use Data Pump on a NETWORK_LINK.
This means: You build up a new and empty database on your RHEL server - you create a database link between those two databases.
Then you run a full import without creating a dump file through the db-link:
    IMPDP usr1/password NETWORK_LINK=db_link1 FULL=Y
You may check out Note:553337.1 for more info on Data Pump.
Transportable Tablespaces or Transportable Database with RMAN would also be an option but those require some additional prep work.
    Kind regards

  • Upgrade/Migrate Planning application from 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3

I have installed 11.1.2.3 on Window 2008 R2 servers.  Our old environment is on  11.1.1.1 is still up and running on different server(windows 2003).  I have successfully completed the following:
    1.     All Hyperion products (HSS,BIPLUS,CALC MGR,EPMA,Planning,FDME installed successfully and everything working fine.
    2.     I am able migrate the all FR reports successfully(Export/Import method) and Yet to test the reports after application migration.
    3.     I created  Planning apps in the new system which is similar to old application , I can open the Planning Application Administrator via WorkSpace URL.
My question :1) Can i migrate Planning repository DB schema from SQL server 2005 to New application schema on SQL server 2008.
(There is any update required before and all the repository table of 11.1.2.3  similar to 11.1.1.1
                       2) How can i migrate the Business rules to  Calc manager(.i.e 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3)
                       3)How can i migrate the FDM application (.i.e 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3)
Please let me know if you need any further information.

First of all 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3 direct migration is not supported so if you have issue upgrading planning then unfortunately that may be the reason.
SQL Server 2005 to 2008 should be ok but if you are concerned then upgrade the sql server 2005 version to 11.1.2.3 then use LCM to change database versions.
Business Rules read the following support doc - "Hyperion Business Rules (HBR) to Calculation Manager Migration White Paper (Doc ID 1528121.1)"

  • Best way to migrate Aperture version from old imac

    Hi,
What is the best way when you want to upgrade from Aperture V2 to Aperture V3 with a new one imac ?
I have an imac with Aperture V2 and i want to buy a new imac and migrate in the same time to Aperture 3.
Do i ask to pre-install Aperture 3 in the new imac , and do a migration after from the old one imac to the new one,
Or, no pre-install, migrate to the new imac ( so aperture v2), and after that install Aperture V3 an do the Aperture migration.
    Thanks for your help.

You might consider the fact that Aperture from the App Store is cheaper than pre-installed.
You can copy your A2 library over to the new computer and then open with A3 to upgrade.

  • Best way to migrate an Applications folder..?

So I have this clone drive of mine that I'd like to copy over to my current system. However, some of the apps on this clone drive are newer, while other are older -- hence, I'd like to transfer (migrate?) its Applications folder onto my current setup (Macbook Pro) without risking making some apps invalid or unusable. Hence, my question is -- since there're a lot of settings, preferences and permissions files involved, I wonder what would be the best & safest way to do this. Any help appreciated.

  • Migration of Planning Applications from 9.2 to 11.1.12

    Hi All,
How to see the installed Planning version (applications, and all objects)?
Actually We were trying to migrate planning applications from 9.2 ( planning web and 1.5.0.0034 is desktop) to 11.1.1.2 version. I have followed steps as follows
    1) Create the users as per earlier planning application in SS (optional assume)...I didn't do.
    2) Creating Database(DB) for New Planning application
    3) Create Data source connection to the created DB for creating application
    4) Create the application in planning in accordance with outline of given backup files
    5) Restore DB.bak file from backup into newly created DB
    6) Restart planning service
    7) Open Planning web application, after login you can see migrate option there...click it
But when I click that migrate button, I wondered to see that it is throwing the following error....
"The application Version is invalid. Existing version : 4.1.1, Expecting version 11.1.1.2"
    Please advise...
Appreciate your responses on the same.
    Thank you

We have tried this but are unable to log in to the v11 planning app after copying the 9.x schema. updatuserd.cmd fails with a comment in the log about v9/v11 version mismatch.
In v9, our users are via an LDAP server and in v11, they will be via AD so the users can't possibly match anyway.
We are wondering how it is possible to migreate our v9 Planning apps to v11 now ...

  • How to migrating planning applications version 9.2.0 to 11.1.1.3 directly

    Hi All
    Please help.
Can be migrated Planning applications from version 9.2.0 to version 11.1.1.3 directly?
There is documentation that explains the process?

    Hi Pedro,
The quick way, assuming you are using Classic Planning Administration in 11.1.1.3 is to export the application schema and Essbase data & objects from the 9.2.0 environment and import into the new environment.
    Thanks,

  • Best way to migrate data

I'm having a new HD installed and I'm using TM to back up my data to a new HD. What is the best way to migrate the data from my external HD to my new installed HD? thanks

To use Time Machine you must first boot into OS X which means you have to install OS X from somewhere. A fresh install of Leopard from DVD takes roughly 1-2 hours depending on the speed of your computer and optical drive. Then you have to restore your data with TimeMachine and that will take ????. Obviously that depends on how your TM drive is connected to the computer and how much data there is to transfer.
A SuperDuper clone is bootable. You connect the drive to your computer and boot into the drive. Was your crash catastrophic and at a horrible time? You are back in business right now - not 2-? hours from now as you would be with TimeMachine. That is the big advantage of SuperDuper.
TimeMachine will have/has had a huge impact on my backup scheme but I'm still assessing how I'll ultimately use it. What I do know is that I'll continue to clone my computers using SD so that if Murphy strikes I'll be right back in business immediately.

  • Migrating planning artifacts from 11.1.3.3 to 11.1.2.2.

    Hi,
I am migration planning application from 11.1.3.3 to 11.1.2.2 . I am trying to use LCM to migrate the artifact using shared service but while importing all the components are grayed out.
Can you please let me know how to migrate artifacts from 11.1.3.3 to 11.1.2.2.
    Thanks.

LCM migrations are not actually supported between different versions, though saying that is it usually possible to get most artifacts migrated, you may need to edit some of the xmls.
If you perform an export on the target you get an idea of the format that is required for the import to work.

  • Best way to migrate Applications across environments of different versions

    Hello Gurus,
Source EPM Environment - EPM 11.1.1.3
Target EPM Environment - EPM 11.1.2.2
What is the best way to migrate applications for Planning , Essbase , HFM and also the related reports from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 .
Any help will be highly appreciated..
    Thanks
    HyperEPM.

I tried with upgrading the application and it was done pretty smoothly as compared to the LCM import export method.
Now what would be the feasible way to move all the applications when following is the scenario and we need a minimum downtime.
    1. Move from EPM 11.1.1.3 to EPM 11.1.2.2
    2. DB used to configure EPM 11.1.2.2 should be fresh and not the existing one.
    3. We want to move all the applications across to EPM 11.1.2.2 on the freshly configured EPM 11.1.2.2.
    4. Move all the applications intact across the version.
    Thanks

  • Best way to migrate from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion (different MacBook)

I'm planning on getting a new MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion, and I'd like to know what would be the best way to restore the files from my current MacBook. It has Snow Leopard installed, and I've been using Time Machine to back it up the last couple years.
I've been doing some research, but I couldn't really get a clear idea on what would be the best method to do that. I heard there are some problems with Time Machine functionality when upgrading from SL to ML. It wouldn't be necessary to copy the whole disk with each system record. But I do need to transfer many of my documents and files (which are backed up by Time Machine/Time Capsule)
Should I use the Migration Assistant? Or is there a setup option to import my files during the first Mountain Lion boot? Or what else would be healthier/recommended?
Thank you all for the attention.

Should I use the Migration Assistant? Or is there a setup option to import my files during the first Mountain Lion boot? Or what else would be healthier/recommended?
I recommend NOT using Migration Assistant. Setup Assistant will produce far better results. When you turn on your new Mac for the first time, you will be asked if you want to transfer data from another Mac. That's Setup Assistant at work. Just follow the on-screen instructions. Answering "no" to Setup Assistant and then trying to use Migration Assistant later is almost always a mistake.
