Best way to move region and track automation??

I want to be able to highlight a region (option copy it) and drag it with automation data. Instead of copy automation data one lane at a time to move it. Eg. I have my synth line in a 4 bar loop with 3 different parameters of automation and i want to move that 4 bar loop (copy and paste) to the next 4 bars and so on with all automation in place.
Cheers!

If you enable hyperdraw on the region and zoom in enough you can see and edit the info. I often use hyper draw to draw in my automation in the first place. Saves me a step if I don't need to aactually perform the automation live with a controller.

  • Best way to move data and programs to another profile on same Mac?

    Hello,
What is the best way to move data and programs to another profile on the same Mac? I have a user who's profile is corrupt, I know that most programs will work on both the new and old profile however when trying to copy the Desktop folder, or Documents folder I am getting permissions denied.
Sort of like weeding a garden, I'm hoping I do not have to pick the data in each folder and copy individually.
    Thanks for your help!
    Johnathon

This usually means that a configuration or preference file is corrupted.  In this user's /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder locate any preference files associated with iLinc and drag to the Trash.
I would also check in the /Home/Library/Caches/ folder for a file or folder associated with iLinc and delete as well.
See if the problem is resolved in the user's normal account.
It's not that you cannot copy data from account to account, but doing so causes a lot of permissions issues that must be resolved.  The MacFixit article I linked above shows what you need to do after transferring from one account to another in order to change permissions on the "foreign" files to those of the destination account.

  • Best way to move a Garageband Track into FCP 5?

I had a sound effect clip that I had done in Garageband, and needed to import into Final Cut, but there wasn't an easy way to do it.. I had to export to iTunes and then open FCP and open the iTunes folder and get it from there..
Based on the way Apple products integrate, it "seems" there would be a better more direct way of doing it without exporting to iTunes... Is there?

Paragon even has non-destriuctive conversion utility if you do want to change drive.
Hard to imagine using 3TB that isn't NTFS. Mac uses GPT for default partition type as well as HFS+

  • Best way to move Mail, Contacts, and Calendars

I'm adding an additional server to my network to distribute some of my services and I would like to move the mail, contacts, and calendar services to this new server. It will be a ML machine running 10.8.5 with Server 2.2.1. I have these services already running on another server also running ML 10.8.5 and server 2.2.1.
What's the best way to move the data between these two machines? Any suggestion are greatly appreciated!

Mail: mailboxes from /Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail can be moved using command line
    - Note the correspondence between mailbox folder name(hexadecimal) and user name, can be extracted using Directory tool)
    - Also if u want to have the same username - hexa key maybe you should export the OD. Personally I would just rename old folder to new hexa key)
    - Do not forget to also check(mimic) the folder group/owner rights
    Calendar&Contacts: Use Export and Import.
I honestly think this are the best ways (fast&clean).
Also I think they are safe, mail 100% is transferred and for Calendar&Contacts I am not aware of any data that can be lost during export-import.
(of course you can also replicate your server using DiskUtility create new image, and then deactivate unwanted services)

  • Best way to move all music to new hard drvie and computer

I'm updating my existing computer, will be installing Vista home premium to new hard drive on new computer, using some of my existing hardware - setting up existing hard drive as secondary drive to move data over - I was hoping to backup all itunes files to the hard drive and then restore from backup to new drive but I can only backup to DVD - which i dont want to do. Once Itunes is setup on the new computer, whats the best way to move all files from the old directory without losing the purchased folder and all settings? thanks.
      Windows XP Pro

Make the drive name the same as the old one, or point to the first file when asked. PR will then find the rest of the files, at least if they are in the same directory.

  • Best way to move files to external drive in LR 5. Drag and drop or export, if drag and drop

Best way to move files to external drive in LR 5. Drag and drop or export, if drag and drop can I put all the dated folders into one single folder

Drag and drop should do the job. Or move the files (or folders) in your operating system and then re-link via http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm
Yes, you can put all the dated folders into a single folder (but if you plan to do this, then don't try move the files using your operating system and re-link)
Export most definitely isn't the solution.

  • Best way to move the distribution and subscriber to another server

What is the best way to move the distribution and subscriber role to a different server for transactional replication?
Stop activity on the publisher then script out the drop and create and point to the new ones?
The publisher will remain the same server.
    Thank you!
    Paula

    Hi Paula,
According to your description, you want to move distribution database and subscription database to a different server.
Firstly, to move distribution database without dropping and recreating the replication topology, you could follow the steps in the
article . However, the best way I recommend is to remove the replication, create the distribution on the new server, and recreate publication and subscription.
To make this process simple, you could use SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to generate scripts and run the scripts to recreate publications and subscriptions or drop publications and subscriptions as the screenshot below. Checking ‘To create or enable
the components’ generates the script for creating the publications and subscriptions, and Checking ‘To drop or disable the components’ generates the script for dropping the publications and subscriptions.
Firstly, please use SSMS to generate the script which is used to create publications and subscriptions.
1.Connect to Publisher, or Subscriber in SSMS, and then expand the server node.
2.Right-click the Replication folder, and then click Generate Scripts.
3.In the Generate SQL Script dialog box, check ‘To create or enable the components’.
    4.Click Script to File.
5.Enter a file name in the Script File Location dialog box, and then click Save. A status message is displayed.
6.Click OK, and then click Close. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152483.aspx.
Secondly, follow the steps above, check ‘To drop or disable the components’ to generate the script used to drop publications and subscriptions. Then run the script to drop publications and subscriptions.
Thirdly, please disable distribution using Transact-SQL or SSMS following the steps in the article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152757(v=sql.105).aspx.
Fourthly, please create the distribution at the new server using Transact-SQL or SSMS following the steps in the article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms151192.aspx#TsqlProcedure.
Last, please run the script generated in the first step to recreate publications and subscriptions.
    Regards,
    Michelle Li

  • HT1589 what's the best way to move content to a new library I created ie a holiday music only library?

what's the best way to move content to a new library I created ie a holiday music only library?

    Sophie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You're only hope to recover the library as it once was is to: 1 - if you have a backup copy of your iPhoto Library or 2 - you can put everything back exactly the way it was in the Finder.
Otherwise you'll have to start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your current library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Best way to move iTunes to different user account

My wife and I share a computer and it has a separate user account for each of us. She got an iPod but set it up and synced it on my account instead of hers. That was not a problem until now. I got an iPhone and want to set it up and sync in my account. What folders and files do I need to move from My Documents/Music to hers? Or what would the best way to move her personalized Ipod settings, etc? Thanks.

  • Best way to create tasks and assign to sharepoint groups

Hi everyone, I have a custom list which contains newsletter info that is to be seen by around 400 groups (they are stores) and then I need them to mark each list item as 'completed'
I have been trying to figure out the best way to do this and decided to keep the custom list and somehow link it to a task for each item in the list. We have nintex so was thinking of creating a workflow to create a separate task for each group (store) so
they can mark it as completed.
Is this the best way to go about it or am I completely off track?
Basically all I need is a list which contains around 30 items and around 400 groups (stores) which contain users (store staff) to be able to mark items on the list as completed so it recognises that each store has completed each task.
    Thanks

    Hi  ,
According to your description, you want to find the best way for creating tasks for 30 list items and assigning the task to around 400 groups.
For the workflow, it is heavy  that  you need to create around 12000 (30*400) tasks .  In my opinion, the best way is to do with a custom timer job. For more information, you can refer to the
    blog:
    http://www.splessons.com/2013/12/create-a-timer-job-in-sharepoint-2013/

  • What is the best way to move an iPhoto library from one internal drive to another internal drive?

the drive where my iPhoto library is store is just about full.  I have a second internal SSD that I'd like to move (not copy) the library to.  What is the best way to do that and still ensure that iPhoto will access the library in its new location?

Just drag the iPhoto Library package from the one drive to the second disk.  Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the library in it's new location on the second disk.  Once you're satisfied that it is working satisfactorliy you can delete the copy on the first disk.

  • Best way to move iTunes library & media from MacBook to mini server?

First, I searched the forums (parameter: "itunes") and didn't see this addressed.
Second, I searched the web (using multiple parameters), and didn't find an answer on point. I saw discussions about moving the iTunes library (well, media files) to another location (but same computer) and discussion about manually copying everything (with warnings about ensuring that the volume name and path are exactly the same, or else it's totally messed up).
That said, I currently use SL on a MacBook and I'm getting a mini with SLS. Among other things, I'd like the core of my iTunes media to be on the mini (for direct playback to my TV and for serving/sharing to my Apple TV). I'll still use iTunes on the MacBook for selected media (like books).
My media includes both iTunes purchases and non-DRM'd media.
Question: does SLS come with Migration Assistant and will this move my iTunes library from my MacBook (with SL) to the mini (with SLS)? I'm not interested in a migration assistant to move servers (web, email servers) or apps, or documents for that matter, as this is not a server move (some discussions online focused on this).
If it doesn't, what's the best way to move my iTunes library and media from my "clien" machine to the server so that playlists, ratings, purchases, etc. are all intact?

    MrHoffman wrote:
iTunes has its own private little world, and this question isn't really specific to Mac OS X Server, and the generic media-transfer discussion will likely receive better coverage over in the [iTunes forum|http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=149].
Mac OS X Server doesn't do anything special with iTunes, and likely doesn't do anything specific with it at all; you're going to a "different" Mac, and server makes this more akin to a transfer to a new Mac, rather than the "replacement Mac" sequence seen with Mac OS X client.
I'd be surprised if this music transfer wasn't something that could be sorted out (within the limits of the copyrights) from some FAQ over in the iTunes forum, or from some of the following support articles:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1329
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1203
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA38534
See if the folks over in the iTunes forum have something for this. (And again, server likely isn't relevant here; you're "just" going to transfer your music to a different Mac box here, and one that happens to run Mac OS X Server.
Thanks for the links - unfortunately, none of those are on point. The reason this is unique to server, I think, is that in the case of a regular mac to mac transfer, you would use Migration Assistant, and the move is easily done. But in seems like server doesn't come with Migration Assistant.
I suppose when I get it, I'll first try copying Migration Assistant to it, and try to run it. That will probably fail (but you never know), so my next attempt will be to have my MacBook move the media to the server (as if the server is simply network storage), and then copy over the library files. (I'm hoping that will enable the file paths to remain intact.)
The mini server is special in that it is the most appropriate home server, and home servers should be expected to do double duty - and outright server, and desktop. So, it would be handy for Apple to include Migration Assistant with the mini server.
