Best way to move securities from one Active Directory (AD) to another ?

Hi experts,
We are currently moving all our employees from several Active Directories (AD) to a Global active directory (GAD). So user accounts and all our BPC securities set up will keep being the same. Only the active directory has to be changed.
What would be the best way to proceed to migrate all our current securities from our various AD to our new GAD ?
We are on SAP BPC MS 7.0 SP3, SQL Server 2008
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Ludovic

If the name of somain will remain the same then you don't have to do anything from BPC point of view.
You just to make sure that doing ping of "domain name" it will respond the new active directory GAD not the old one.
If the domain name was changed then from BPC point of view we are speaking actually about complete different users.
So the security must to be redone for all users.
domain1\user1 is different by dmain2\user1.

  • What is the best way to move data from one array to another

    I'm going to be moving data from one array to a larger array on the same RAID but different controller. (I have some extra extra drives I'm also going to be installing Retrospect so I can't just restore from a backup.)
    The RAID has 450GB of production files, fonts etc.
    What is the best way to move the data over?
    I saw that someone had suggested using ditto. Would that be better than MacMV?
    I also own Bru LE so I could use that.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Ditto is a great option -- probably the best.
    ditto -rsrc src_folder /Volumes/targetvolume/targetfolder

  • What is the best way to get PATHS from one Photoshop psd file to another?

    Hi! New on the site, and I signed up specifically to ask the best way to import one .psd file into another, including the paths on the paths palette.
    Almost all of my Photoshop drawings make heavy use of vector paths, which I then stroke using using PS natural-media brushes and the "stroke paths" function (usually with "simulate pressure" checked.) Also, my .psd files tend to be, um, HUGE... and I typically break up a whole drawing into separate PS files and then assemble all of them into one final finished graphic.
    I have no trouble moving raster stuff from file to file. Just put all the layers I want to transfer into a group and drag the group to the other .psd. Works fine, including layer masks. But I have not found a good way to get vector paths from the Paths palette of one .psd to another. Of course I can select paths and copy them to the Win clipboard, switch to the other .psd, and paste them back in. The drawback to that method is that I lose the correct size relation between the results of previously done "stroke paths" operations (on raster layers) and the paths that generated them. Sometimes the copied-in paths are way too large, sometimes way too small, never Just Right.
    As I'm sure most of you know, if you resize an entire Photoshop document from within PS, any paths it contains are correctly resized along with everything else. That's no longer true after grouped raster layers are dragged over to another document but paths are copied and pasted in. The size connection is lost. (Location placement, too.)
    I WANT those paths! After I bring a piece of a drawing into the full final drawing, what looked good when I was working on it separately often doesn't look right any longer and I want to re-stroke those paths using different brush diameter, opacity, etc., or maybe even a completely different brush.
    I've tried bring outside .psd files in as smart objects with the Place command but either that doesn't work or I'm not doing it right. Using Place, the paths in the Placed document don't come in at all.
    I'll be very grateful for any hints or strategies any of you knowledgeable folks can give me. Thanks very much!
    Jim

    1. Connect the two macs - firewire, ethernet, sneakernet as suits you - and copy the iPhoto Library Folder from Old Machine to New Machine. Drag it from Home/Pictures to the same location on the new machine.
    2. Because all the files 'belong' to the account on the old machine, you have to update the file permissions: hence Download BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
    And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Pictures/Forum/BatChmod.png
    (Credit to Old Toad for this one).
    Note: This must be run on the new machine after copying the files over.
    3. Then launch iPhoto on the new machine.

  • Problem migrating account from one active directory domain to another. Using NetBIOS

    Hello,
    I'm migrating a Lion machine from one domain to another. When I try to join it to abc.example.com it joines it to 123.example.com in the list of domains. 123.example.com is the NetBIOS name of abc.example.com. This configuration does not work.
    What is even more strange, is if I go into the Open Directory Utility > Active Directory to set the create mobile account settings, once I apply the settings (or even if I don't apply the settings) when I get back to the list of domains, it show BOTH abc.example.com and 123.example.com as domains I am joined to. If I remove 123.example.com it removes abc.example.com.
    I've only seen this problem one other time and this was with a snow leopard machine that was not bound to AD. I upgraded it to Lion and tried to bind it, and had the exact same thing occur.
    I'm certain there is a "stuck" setting somewhere that is causing this. I have had successful snow leopard > lion upgrades work, and many lion machines joined to AD so this does work normally. Just not sure whats wrong or really where to look.
    The OS is fully patched and updated to the current version.
    Any thoughts?

    Case 1:
    Here you can written pre-update event handler which will check whether minor and major org code changed or not.
    If changed then first starts de-provisioning and then start provisioning.
    If not changed then do nothing.
    This approach will not transfer accounts from one domain to another but it will create fresh accounts and remove accounts from old domain.
    Case2:
    If you want to transfer accounts from one domain to another in that on pre-update you have to change OU of user on process which automatically move to another domain.
    but not sure about exchange it is possible to move to another domain.
    hopping that all domains under same forest otherwise same Connector Sever will not work.

  • What is the best way to move everything from one MacBook Air to another MBA

    I bought a new MacBook Air ( OS 10.6.4, 2.16 GHz, 4GB RAM) = MBA 2. I already have an old MBA (bought late 2009, OS 10.6.0, 1.86 GHz, 2 GB RAM) = MBA 1
    Whenever I had to do a clean install of the MBA 1, I was able to successfully restore all the files and the same architecture of the HD by cloning the MBA 1's HD (onto an external drive) before doing the clean install, then sticking the external drive into the USB port and then using Migration Assistant (selecting other drive in the choices).
    Another method I can use but haven't tried is by connecting the two MBAs together with an ethernet cable (I have ethernet adapters for the two MBAs) and then using Migration Assistant.
    If I use this method, do I have to change anything in Network (in System Preferences) like this person did?
    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/apple/macbook-air-diary-day-3-migration-assistance/125 3
    So the questions I am asking are:-
    1) Which is the better method (faster, more fail-proof, simpler) for migrating?
    External drive plugged into the USB port (with clone of the HD of the older MBA on it)
    OR
    Networking the two computers with an ethernet cable
    2) If I use the networking method, do I have to change anything in Network?
    3) The MBA 2 had 10.6.4 already installed on it. I have used the MBA 2 a little bit, adding browsers and so on, but there is nothing there I want to keep.
    Do I have to do a clean install (sticking the USB flash drive that came with the computer into the MBA 2 and then erasing the disk) before I use the Migration Assistant?
    OR
    Can I just delete all the applications and files I have added since I started using the MBA 2, and then just start up Migration Assistant?
    OR
    Can I just leave the MBA 2 alone and leave it as is and start Migration Assistant? Will the Migration Assistant write over everything that's currently on the computer? (I don't mind if it does.)
    4) Will it be a problem that the MBA 1 has 10.6.0 on it whereas the MBA 2 has 10.6.4 on it? Do I need to update the MBA 1 to 10.6.4 before I do the migration? (I'd rather not if I can avoid it. However, I plan to use 10.6.4 on the new MBA 2).
    Thanks for any replies.

    If the clone is already made, that will be somewhat faster.

    Your best bet is to erase the disk, install OSX from the USB stick, then use +Setup Assistant+ when the new Mac restarts. See [Setting up a new Mac from an old one or its backups|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Setup.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Snow Leopard > Installation and Setup+ forum).

    No.

  • Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?

    Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?  The cut and paste function is not available and there's no "move to" function.  Am I missing something?  It was so easy with Windows.

    Drag the files, or press Option when pasting them; this accesses the Move To function.

  • A way to move layers from one file to another in actions?

    Ok, question for the gurus out there - rather than try to explain, I'll give you an example: Lets say I have a series of adjustment layers that I want to apply to a sequence of 40 images. The adjustments are in a layer group, and are saved as a separate file.
    I DON'T want to drag and drop them, I want to run an action that will copy the adjustments to each image- now I know I can save down each adjustment as a separate file, lets a curve (acv) a selective color (ahu) file and load THAT in as part of my action. But I don't want to do that either, because these adjustments will change and I want to easily re-render my changes on all 40 images in one step.
    I also don't want to use After Effects to do it, because my client doesn't own it. There used to be
    a way to move layers from one file to another in actions because I seem to remember doing it. The answer is not Duplicate Group either because that needs you to specify a destination file name.
    Is it possible to do this without scripting? I'm pretty sure it used to be because I seem to remember doing it, just cant remember HOW I did. Maybe I'm wrong about this though.
    Thanks and sorry for the long post, this has been baffling me for weeks.

    Thanks Ed, but as I explained above
    "I know I can save down each adjustment as a separate file, lets a curve (acv) a selective color (ahu) file and load THAT in as part of my action. But I don't want to do that either"
    What I want to know is is there a way to move adjustment layers from one file to another in an action. I know also that you can use the clipboard to move pixel layers, but I've yet to find a way to move adjustments.

  • What's the best way to move files from my old G3 to my new Intel DuoCore?

    I just received my new Intel DuoCore 17" iMac. For years I have been using a much-loved G3 500 mHz iMac. The new Intel iMac is still in the box, but I believe it shipped with OS 10.4.4. The G3 runs 10.2.6. I have a dial-up connection to the Internet; currently DSL is not available in my neighborhood. What is the best way to move my files from the G3 to the Intel dc? Can I simply connect them with an Ethernet cable and transfer files directly? Or is my best bet to simply save the files I want to transfer to a disc and do it the old-fashioned way? Please forgive me in advance for my ignorance; although I have been a Mac user and supporter for many years, I am astonishingly ignorant when it comes to the best way to using both Mac hardward and software.
    iMac Intel DuoCore   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    There are two issues - 1. Getting the files moved over, and 2. Being able to open them on the Intel iMac.
    1. This can be technically easy if you are willing to spend the time. I moved all my stuff from my old Mac to my new one by hooking the two together with an ethernet cable, directly. You would need both machines to have appropriate IP addresses. (go to the network preferences and pull down the built-in ethernet panel.) Some addresses such as 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101 would work with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0) Now go to the new iMac and make sure the finder is selected (click on the desktop) and under the "GO" menu select "Connect to Server". You will need to put in the IP address of the old machine, and later it's administrative password. Then select its hard drive from the list (possibly only one choice) and it should appear as an icon on your iMac desktop. You can open this like any other drive and just drag items to the new iMac.
    2. Whether you can use all the files moved over from the old G3 is difficult to answer. You may be using Classic mode sometimes on the G3 and have some stuff created with a Classic application. You are probably aware that the new Intel iMac does not support Classic mode, so some of these files may not be useable without a bit of work (or at all, perhaps.) For instance I had to purchase Appleworks to handle some of my old Clarisworks documents because Pages couldn't understand them. Once I had them converted to Appleworks documents, I could then convert them again to Pages documents.
    I had some old MacDraw Pro documents that were equally problematic.
    I would advise you to get the new iMac out of the box and connected to your dialup internet connection first. Do all the software updates until running software updater says there is nothing new. Then you will be at 10.4.7 with all the latest security and fixes etc. Then disconnect from the internet and use an ethernet cable to get the stuff off the old computer.
    There will be lots more to do such as moving your mail, address box entries etc. later, but this is a start.

  • What is best way to move pictures from laptop to EHD pse10

    I have gotten differing views on the best way to move my pictures from my laptop (to free up space) to an EHD while keeping PSE10 on my computer.  When I want to do something in PSE10 I would connect my EHD.
    It has been suggested to follow the pse10 "back up" procedure but there are no directions on how to get the program to read the EHD after the back up is made (so pse10 can find my pictures on the EHD).
    It has been suggested to do a "drag and drop" procedure but I have not been able to get step by step directions for this for pse10.
    Can someone please assist me in this task with good directions.  I am marginally literate in these things, probably enough to make a big mess if I tried this without consult.
    If no one can answer this is there a next level that one can go to?
    I have tried chat with Adobe help and they won't help me because I do not have the newest version of pse.

    One more thing...
    I have a MacBook pro that I'm using to connect to the thunderbolt drives. I believe I should be able to just connect my pc to the Mac via an Ethernet cable and network them, yes? Well, I tried that and could not get it to work. My pc never saw the new network.
    You see, part of the problem actually has nothing to do with the transfer process at all. The movie comes with 12tb of footage files. That's ALL the footage shot during their 18 day schedule. However, only certain shots, about 4tb worth, made it into the final cut of the film, and the editor did not separate those shots out for me. So now, I am responsible for manually sifting through all the footage and copying over just the shots that made the final cut. I have a list of the shots needed, and I have an exfat formatted 500gb usb2 drive that so far is performing as well as out can, but it's an incredibly slow process that is compounded by the slow, usb2, copy speeds I'm currently getting.
    Would a network connection handling such large amounts of transfers be faster than usb 2?
    And also, I tried a free pc utility that allows my pc to read and write to Mac drives, but the transfer speed was so slow that I abandoned that strategy. Would Paragon have faster speeds?

  • Best way to move data from page to page inside app

    Hi all I started writing this and it got way to complicated to explain in full without a novel.
    Breif description. I am using query string that starts in the parent window (from href in json file) it then has to be moved into the iframe url when moving to other pages to avoid security as page and iframe are conflicting http and https. and cannot be accessed.. it seems there must be a better way.
    So my question is what is the best way in open platform to move data from one page to another?

    Hi Liam
    Small data just a webapp ID and I am using the URL. But if you pass a ID say from Json ie "href":"/Admin/AppLoader.aspx?client_id=dev-name&ID=111111" it gets passed to the page url. This can be referenced using document.referrer initially. As the app is inside another frame and url that is https there is security issue using parent.location between https and http. Fine but then if you move to a new page referrer is no longer as there is no real referrer and you have to use location but you cannot. Now the work around is to pass the value from the page url to the app url at the start. and then you get around http https security issue when using parent.location but this seems convoluted and like a work around. Is this really the only way or the best way or a bad way. without using other ways that seem over kill for 6 odd characters.

  • What is the best way to append data from one field to another?

    I have the following table, table1:
    Name Null? Type
    MAIL_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(10)
    LAST_NAME VARCHAR2(45)
    FIRST_NAME VARCHAR2(45)
    MIDDLE_INITIAL VARCHAR2(1)
    ADDRESS_1 VARCHAR2(45)
    CITY VARCHAR2(35)
    STATE VARCHAR2(2)
    ZIP VARCHAR2(10)
    REMARKS VARCHAR2(200)
    The table has duplicate entries that need to be removed. The records that will be removed need the
    data in the Remarks column appended to the Remarks data of the record that is not deleted.
    For example, the following listing shows a sample of the duplicate records.
    Mail ID Last Name First Name M Address City St ZIP Remarks
    189 BROWN STEPHEN 6706 MOESER LN EL CERRITO CA 94530-2909 Sf7#s124,f16#d7996(NML)[Cl#117][Ml#1649][NMf1#d288][NCf9#d319][SNl#e62]
    211023 BROWN STEPHEN B 6706 MOESER LN EL CERRITO CA 94530 RLl#a12047[IDl#i398]
    287796 BROWN STEPHEN B 6706 MOESER LN EL CERRITO CA 94530 SNl#e1163
    The following listing shows how the kept record should appear after the duplicate records are deleted.
    Mail ID Last Name First Name M Address City St ZIP Remarks
    189 BROWN STEPHEN 6706 MOESER LN EL CERRITO CA 94530-2909 Sf7#s124,f16#d7996(NML)[Cl#117][Ml#1649][NMf1#d288][NCf9#d319][SNl#e62]RLl#a12047[IDl#i398]SNl#e1163
    I have the process of deleting duplicates working but have yet to determine the best way to move
    the Remarks data from the deleted records to the preserved record.
    I know there are probably various ways to approach this.
    Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
    Here is the sql for deleting duplicates.
    DELETE FROM table1
    WHERE mail_id in (SELECT mail_id FROM table1
              where not first_name = 'Null' and
    not last_name = 'Null' and
              not city = 'Null' and
              not state = 'Null'and
    not last_name = 'Anon'
              minus
              select min(mail_id) from table1
              group by first_name, last_name, city, state, address_1, organization, title);
    THANKS in advance!!!!

    Here's quick and dirty example probably a better way to do it, but this is what I came up with quickly.
    My table looks like this:
    MAIL_ID LAST FIRST PHONE REMARKS
    123 Ruff Shawn 555-555-5555 Called 10-10-04
    135 Ruff Shawn 555-555-5555 Called 10-12-04
    201 Ruff Shawn 555-555-5555 Called 10-19-04
    The code below will concatenate the remarks column from the rows, and delete the 135 and 201 rows, then update the 123 row with the concatenated remarks.
    declare
    l_remarks varchar2(500);
    l_min_mail_id number;
    begin
    select min(mail_id) into l_min_mail_id
    from test
    group by last, first, phone;
    select remarks into l_remarks from test where mail_id = l_min_mail_id;
    for i in (select mail_id, remarks from test
         where last = 'Ruff'
              and first = 'Shawn'
              and phone = '555-555-5555'
              and mail_id <> l_min_mail_id)
    loop
    l_remarks := l_remarks||','||i.remarks;
    delete from test where mail_id = i.mail_id;
    end loop;
    update test set remarks = l_remarks where mail_id = l_min_mail_id;
    commit;
    end;
    Hope this helps.

  • What's the best way to move files from my 2012 iMac to my 2014 MBP?

    What’s a good way to move files from my 2012 iMac to my MBP?
    I prefer to do graphic work on my 21-inch iMac (2012 version). But when I travel I need to copy files to my 2014 MBP. I learned that my 2012 iMac is too old for use of AirDrop, so I’m copying and moving files with a flash drive. That seems slow and clumsy. Is there a better way?

    Target Disk Mode would provide a direct connection between the two Macs:

    Nothing simpler than that is available.

  • Best way to copy table from one database to any other database

    I need to write an application to perform database table copy from one kind of database to another kind of database.
    I just wrote a simple JDBC program which essentially does the something like below:
    PreparedStatement statement = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    try
    System.out.println("insertSQL:" + insertSQL.toString());
    statement = target.prepareStatement(insertSQL.toString());
    System.out.println("selectSQL:" + selectSQL.toString());
    rs = source.executeQuery(selectSQL.toString());
    int rows = 0;
    while (rs.next())
    rows++;
    for (int i = 1; i <= columns.size(); i++)
    statement.setString(i, rs.getString(i));
    statement.execute();
    System.out.println("Copied " + rows + " rows.");
    But problem with this one is that it takes lot of time( more than 60 mins) for 100k records transfer. Would there be any faster way to do this?
    TIA...

    Thanks...
    I am using now batch update mechanism and set the fetchsize of resultSet cursor.
    Now I need to copy a table with almost 10 million records to the target database. My program works fine but it takes more than 3 hours.
    I am copying from Postgres table to MS SQL server table.
    Is there any other way or more better appraoch to make this more faster?
    TIA..

  • What's the best way to move apps from an old iphone to a new one?

    I just got the iPhone 4S and am having difficulties figuring out how to restore the backup from my old 3Gs.  When I first plugged it in all of my contacts, calendar and email migrated just fine.  (All except for my mobileme email for some reason it defaults all mobileme email adresses as .mac.  Which is silly consider many of us have .me)  Anyway...  I've plugged in the old phone and backed it up.  I've tried to restore the new phone with the old backup, but it doesn't seem to be working.  How do I get all of the apps I have purchased on to the new phone?

    Use an ethernet cable to connect the two computers, and set up file sharing. After that copying files from one computer to the other is exactly like copying from one hard drive to another:
