There is no way. IE has not been available for the Mac for years now.
Your only option is to install native Windows and use that - either through a bootcamp dual-boot scenario, or use a virtual machine to run windows in (eg. Parallels or VMWare Fusion). Either way, you will need a full retail install disk for Windows.
P.S. the last version of IE for Mac was for PPC machines, and it was discontinued in 2003.

Crazy I know, but what is the best way to PREVENT a report portlet from running ?

I know this sounds a very weird question.
On a page I have a html form (that I use as search criteria for my report) as well as an actual report published as a portlet.
On certain situations, such as when going to the page initially, I require that the report not be executed due to bind variables passed by the form not being initialised.
I know I can set default values for parameters, and use decode statements in my query etc etc, but this means the report is still actually run, but no rows are returned!
I dont want the report to even run!
Is there a faster way of stopping a report from executing.

I have about 50GB of photos on my old MBP iphoto library.
To be able to merge your libraries, your Aperture version and iPhoto version must match. For basic reading see: Aperture 3.3: Using a unified photo library with iPhoto and Aperture

Assuming you are running the latest Aperture and iPhoto versions:
Before merging libraries ensure that your iPhoto Library has no issues. While still on your old mac run the "library first aid tools" on your iPhoto Library. Hold down the key combination ⌥⌘ and double click your iPhoto Library, then select "Repair database".
Make sure you have a backup of your current Aperture Library and iPhoto library.
Do both macs have a FireWire port? Then you could connect your macs in Target Disk Mode:

This way your new mac could see your old mac as an external disk and you could copy directly between the macs.
Otherwise copy your iPhoto library by drag-and-drop to an external disk (on your old mac) and connect that disk to your new mac. Check, if the external drive is formatted for mac (MacOS X Extended (Journaled)). Otherwise reformat it, before you copy the iPhoto library to that drive.
When your iPhoto Library has been moved to your new Mac launch Aperture and use the command "File > Import > Library" from the main menu bar. If there are duplicates in the Aperture library (if you imported earlier from iPhoto) you may be prompted if you want to "Add" or "Merge". If you have lots of duplicates, pick "Merge", otherwise "Add".

Best way to implement Aperture on a shared Mac

I'm looking for some suggestions on the best way to implement Aperture on my work computer. It's a 15" MacBook Pro Retina. Since I don't own the laptop, can I just run Aperture from an external drive in case I have to give the computer up on short notice? I have a 1 TB Lacie drive (USB 3.0) that currently holds a copy of all of my images. I don't currently have Aperture, so this would be a completely new install.
I know I can keep the images on the external drive as Referenced files, but what about the Library? Can (or should) it be stored on the external drive? If not, would a backup copy on the external drive (perhaps using Vault) be sufficient for portability? For example, if I have to give the laptop back could I simply hook the Lacie up to a new MacBook, install Aperture, restore the latest Vault backup and be up and running?
Any thoughts (pro & con) would be appreciated.

If you use a fast drive with a relatively fast port (Thunderbolt, USB 3) you can keep your Aperture library on the external volume. But I would keep the Aperture application on the internal drive. If you buy Aperture from the AppStore, your licence would entitle you to install Aperture on any Mac you own or control - for private purposes. So while you have the work computer and control it, you can use Aperture there - for private purposes. Simply delete the app when you return it and unplug your external drive.

That would work.
Make sure, your Lacie drive is formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled), and set the "Ignore Ownership on this volume" flag. I assume, you are using different account names on the two macs.
You should be able to download Aperture again to your new MacBook, if you use the same AppleID.

I have extensively searched, in the cocoa documentation a way to create a display a hierarchical collection of items, each having a corresponding icon.
Bottom line, the best way of representing it is what mail does with your mailboxes and folders, or what the finder does with the folder tree of the drives.
One "reasonable solution" I have tried is, through the delegate, returning always the same instance of NSBrowserCell.

Everything works, but I am not satisfied with the display.
1. When a row is selected, the color effect of the selection breaks at the cell boundaries. NSBrowserCell does not show represent the selection the same way that the outline view does.
2. Spacing between items (vertically) is not good.
3. If I change it, (by means of the delegate) I loose the settings NSSmallControlSize that I did define at the beginning.
I have been messing around with the settings without managing to have something as nice as mail.app or the finder.
I am also willing to try other approach, but I ma not fond of subclassing madly everything, especially if it results in a loss of functionalities (e.g. loosing the editability of the text, or having it edit with a shift in position)
I post this message because I imagine there is an elegant way of doing it. It is a common functionality after all, used in many native MACOS app (finder, mail, itunes, ...) So it should come for free, right ?
Anyway, any working fast solution, (my app may have to display very heavy collections, is more than welcome.

Best way to sync sharepoints on two different xServes running Tiger Server?

Situation: I have two xServes. Both are Dual 1.0 GHz G4/1 GB RAM/Mac OS X Server Tiger 10.4.x. One xServe is located here in Florida office. Other (backup) xServe is colocated in California. Each xServe has three sharepoints. I need the Florida sharepoints to sync with their respective California sharepoints. Meaning, I want as often as possible, the California sharepoints to be a mirror of the Florida sharepoints. Best scenario is the 'sync' runs every 24 hours, or more often, if it won't effect day to day activity and production on xServe(s) and network(s).
What is the best way to do this?
Also, is it ok that the Florida xServe is version 10.4.7, while the California xServe is 10.4.4 (the difference in versions is for a reason)?

   Carbon Copy Cloner uses psync, which actually works pretty well. However, the greatest number of features in this kind of tool are found in rsync. Since Apple's rsync handles resource forks, even the psync man page suggests using it. Beware though, there are several bugs in Apple's rsync.
   Fortunately, not only has Quinton Dolan kept track of these bugs, he's fixed them. There are several "fixed" rsyncs for Mac OS X on the web but Quinton addresses so many issues, he may have fixed them all. He also patched the latest version of rsync. His discussion and fixed rsync can be found on his page, Fixing rsync on MacOS X 10.4 (Tiger). Tests on Apple's UNIX discussion failed to find fault with it but maybe someone did (probably Quinton) because he regularly updates it. Thus, I imagine he supports it as well. He's very sharp, appears to have done an impeccable job and I highly recommend his solution.

What is the best way to set up iTunes on our home network so all family members have access to all of our itunes library, even music we don't have on the cloud?

I have five different people using 10 different apple devices on one itunes account in our family. We have had trouble sharing. What is the best way to set up itunes on our home network? I have recently created a website for my family's business. When we bought the Macbook the guy in Apple said the best way to send an email campaign to our mailing list was to publish a hidden page, find it in the browser on Safari, then share it via email, so that is what I do. For most of my customers this works fine, however I have a number of people each month who cannot see any of the content of the email. I have added an 'If you can't see this email properly...' link at the top of the page, with no shapes or images etc near it, but even that does not appear for them.
I am a self-taught novice unfortunately, so haven't a clue what the problem is. I'm not sure of the operating system, but we bought the Macbook in May and it has all the recent updates installed. I have just had a new baby so can't get into the store fdor a one-to-one, so if anyone could explain why this happens / what I can do about it, I would be very grateful! Thanks!

If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.

Best way to refresh page after returning from task flow?

What is the best way to refresh data in a page after navigating to and returning from a task flow with an isolated data control scope where that data is changed and commited to the database?
I have 2 bounded task flows: list-records-tf and edit-record-tf
Both use page fragments
list-records-tf has a list.jsff fragment and a task flow call to edit-record-tf
The list.jsff page has a table of records that a user can click on and a button which, when pressed, will pass control to the edit-record-tf call. (There are also set property listeners on the button to set values in the request that are used as parameters to edit-record-tf.)
The edit-record-tf always begins a new transaction and does not share data controls with the calling task flow. It consists of an application module call to set up the model according to the parameters passed in (edit record X or create new record Y or...etc.), a page fragment with a form to allow users to edit the record, and 2 different task flow returns for saving/cancelling the transaction.
Back to the question - when I change a record in the edit page, the changes do not show up on the list page until I requery the data set. What is the best way to get the list page to refresh itself automatically upon return from the edit-record-tf?
(If I ran the edit task flow in a popup dialog I could just use the return listener on the command component that launched the popup. But I don't want to run this in a dialog.)

The way to achieve your desired functionality is as follows:
Create a flow activity, and within that flow activity, you will call web services (using an invoke activity) webservice1 and webservice2.
After the flow activity, you will then use another invoke activity to call the 3rd webservice using the output given by the first 2 webservices.

I don't really see any better options for SharePoint. SharePoint use other production called 'Office Web App' to allow users to view/edit Microsoft Office documents (word, excel etc.). But the web version of excel doesn't support that much records as well
as there's size limitations (probably the default max size is 10MB).
Regarding second problem, I think you need some custom solutions (like a SharePoint timer job/webpart ) to read and present data.
However, if you can reduce the excel file records to something near 16k (which is supported rows in web version of excel) then you can use SharePoint Excel service to refresh data automatically in the excel file in SharePoint from some external sources.
