Best way to Remove movies from iphoto to freeup space ?

I would like to remove all the movies from iphoto and place them in a folder for later processing in imovie ...i would like to free up all the space
any suggestions

Really easy:
Find all the movies in your iPhoto Library. Then Export them to a Folder. Then delete them from iPhoto.
What makes this easy is that every movie is automatically keyworded when you import it.
So to find all the Movies:
File -> New Smart Album
Keyword -> is -> Movie
Now that you've found them. Select All and
File -> Export *_Kind: Original_* (Note: setting the Kind: to Original is vital)
And export them.
Then trash them from iPhoto.

This is difficult to answer without fully knowing what you are trying to do.
That said, a few excellent and user friendly retouching tools include:  The Spot Heealing Brush Tool, Healing Brush Tool, Patch Tool, and the Cloning Stamp Tool.

What are the best ways to share photos from iPhoto?

If you use Adobe Photoshop, or even Adobe Photoshop Elements, stay as far away from iPhoto as possible.
iPhoto does not play nice with Adobe software or with software from any other third party developer.
iPhoto will hide your image files in a library paradigm where you have no access to them other than through iPhoto.

  • What is the best way to remove footage from the middle of a clip?

What is the best way to remove unwanted footage from the middle of a clip? I have a clip that I've trimmed from the start and finsih, but I need to remove "boring" footage from inbetween.

Thank you for your replies. I tried the blade tool followed by select and delete but it did not seem very precise. I had better success with this aproach at the ends rather than in the middle. I watched a tutorial video on using the precision editor, but the video was small so I had a difficult time following where the person clicked, etc. Any info on using the precision editor would be greatly appreciated. I need to make precise cuts to avoid creating unatural motion for the subject. So far, close but no cigar.

  • Removing movies from iPhoto 11

I wish to remove all my movies from iPhoto 11.
I will then store on a separate HDD as my iPhoto is now up to 100GB :-/
Previous posts (https://discussions.apple.com/message/10649344#10649344)  suggest flagging movies and send to Trash BUT I have 93 photos flagged for specific purposes.
If I create a Smart folder of movies the original movies cannot be deleted. They can be dragged to a Finder window and folder but originals remain in iPhoto.
I could try iPhotoManager I suppose but surely iPhoto has a solution... or not?
    Thanks.

    They can.
Option-command-delete will move them to the trash.
BUT I have 93 photos flagged for specific purposes.
Flagging is designed for quick and dirty selections. If you're holding those for longer periods of time than a keyword would probably be better.

  • Best way to remove glare from glasses

I ended up having a picture take with a point and shoot camera.  What would be the best way to remove or at least look presentable to remove the glare from the glasses from one side?  It is bad but I want this picture to be as good as I can get it.

First I did Juergen's method and merged down the two layers.
    Now to improve the lighting...
    1. Add a Level adjustment layer. These were the original Levels settings:
    2. I moved the sliders like this to lighten the whole picture.
    3. I went one step further to lighten the background. Added another Levels and moved the middle slider left. This however also lightened the men further which I did not want to do, so on the layer's mask I painted over the men with black to mask out that portion of the Levels adjustment and reveal the previous Levels adjustment.
Rather than painting black you can select the men and on the mask fill the selection with black. In either case if you revealed too much or too little of the first Levels layer you can fine-tune the mask by painting black or white as needed.

  • What is the best way to import photos from iPhoto 9 into PSE 11?

I just installed PSE 11 and I would like to move the pictures from my iPhoto 9 Library in to PSE 11.
What is the best way to accomplish this as far as accuracy of data?
    Thank you!
    Len

There is a direct option in Organizer which lets you import from iPhoto. This is under Import dropdown menu in left panel.
If you are importing from iPhoto'09, your Tags, Albums Events, captions, star rating would also get imported apart from your media. This works differently for iPhoto'011 where you can get only the media to the Organizer,
Just a couple of things to know:
    1. If in iPhoto preferences, you have chosen to create copies of your photos in iPhoto library and your library hence refers to the media store inside the library package, then on importing from iPhoto, Organizer would create copies of all those media under your pictures folder. That means, it would not corrupt your iPhoto package or modify it in any way.
    2. However, if in iPhoto, you are organizing by using references to original location on your Hard drive i.e. you are not creating copies of media in iPhoto library then on importing from iPhoto to Organizer, the Organizer would also use the same references and would not create copies of the media.
    Hope that helps!

  • What is the best way to import pictures from iPhoto without compression?

I'm trying to create a slide show using Final Cut Pro. No, I'm not interested in using iDVD slide show function because it doesn't allow me to do a whole lot. I would like to add titles and music for certain segments with video inserted here and there.
Anyway, when I used the slide show function in iPhoto, exported it out as a quick movie file, and then imported it into Final Cut Pro, I noticed a significant downgrade in quality of images. It obviously looks different from when I play the slide show in iPhoto. What would be the best way to import pictures into Final Cut Pro without any compression?
    Thanks in advance.

I only see Share > Export.
Some versions of iPhoto work that way -it's just Apple moving things around.
what's the difference between exporting it from iPhoto then import it into FCP vs. just importing directly from FCP?
Your first post mentioned exporting a slide show from iPhoto -I assumed that is where your images are stored.
I do not want to import pictures one by one...
You don't have to. iPhoto will let you select as many as you want, or if the images are elsewhere, you can also select multiple files from FCP's Import dialog.
    ...and stick them together manually.
Editing is an art and involves some effort on your part. It is not an automated process. This method opens up far more possibilities, access to filters and color correction and the opportunity to use Motion for even more sophisticated animation.
But, it only allows me to export it as 720 x 480. The original size of my photos is 3872 x 2592. Is there any way I can create a quicktime file in the original size?
You should be aware that 3872 x 2592 is not a standard pixel aspect ratio that is used in video. The images will be resized to the Sequence settings that you set up in Final Cut Pro.
I have never used iPhoto to make a slideshow before, but I just gave it a try and was able to export one with the images in their native size, simply by typing the pixel dimensions into the boxes in the dialog window:
I don't have PhotoMagico myself, but it comes highly recommended by several of the forum regulars.
Perhaps one of them will see this discussion and help with your last question.

  • Is there an easy way to remove photos from iPhoto in the organizer?

I had been using iPhoto, but quit when I started using Photoshop Elements.  With version 9, it imported not only photos in my pictures but those in iPhoto.  So I have hundreds of duplicates I need to remove from the organizer.  Is there an easy way to find the ones from iPhoto so I can remove them?

OK, but is there a way to search/filter on a string in the location (i.e. iPhoto) so I could then easily know which are the duplicates I want to delete?
If there isn't, then it seems that I will have to delete the catalog and start from scratch again.  I had originally thought I didn't include iPhoto in the folders to search, but apparently it was somehow included so I will have to be more granular in what folders to search if I recreate the catalog again.

  • Best way to store movies from iTunes

I have several movies I purchased from iTunes on my computer. Now I want to free up some space on my hard drive. What is the best way to store them off my computer so I can access them again in the future?

I believe you can do Back up to Disc and burn them as Data Discs. (Be sure to check your burning preferences first.) You won't be able to view them from the burned discs, but you can use them to restore to your library. Burning the movie itself....I doubt you can get it to fit on one CD. Another option would be to invest in an external drive. I hear they're pretty affordable.

  • Best way to archive photos from iPhoto?

I have 463 events and 18,177 photos in my iPhoto with photos dating back to 2004!  I'm running iPhoto '08 and I would like to know if there is a good way to archive these photos so I can clear out the oldest photos (at least 80% of them) and allow iPhoto to run at a faster speed (I assume that's why it's slow at this point in time).  I spoke with a sales rep in an apple store and she suggested burning the photos to DVD and then deleting from iPhoto.  I have done this once before in my last batch from years before 2004 and the pictures were not organized in any way on the DVD.  Is there a way to preserve the events or albums from iPhoto when moving to a DVD?  Is there a better way to archive the photos in general?  I could not possibly sort through the 18,177 pictures on the DVD and start regrouping.  Any advice is much appreciated!

You can bring those photos back from the DVD - how to do this depends on how you made the DVD.
To speed issues: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Archiving photos to an external:
Here's one way to do what you want: Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto.
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the external drive.
Now you have two full copies of the Library. To choose between them:  Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
    3. On the Internal Library, remove the pics you don't want with you all the time.
Now you have one full library on the external and another smaller sub-set on the Internal.
    A couple of comments:
    a. The external disk needs to be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
b: When you're removing the unwanted pics from the Internal Library you need to delete them in batches of about 100 or so. Trashing more at one time can cause problems with the database.
c: Managing Multiple Libraries - including moving pics/albums/rolls and metadata between them - is greatly facilitated by using iPhoto Library Manager

  • Best way to remove dust from a MacPro

what is the best way to clean the inside of a Macpro. When I go inside to remove or update components there is considerable dust. In the past I have grounded my self and gently wipe some of the areas with a light cloth to remove dust. There are areas on the mother board I would like to clean off also would canned air be ok.
    Thank you

    www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-ED500-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW/
My guess though is any thing that was loose or can be loosened (cable connection somewhere?) can be, would be the only thing to watch out for. Less on Mac Pro than on my PCs with fans and clips for power or an SATA cable that could slide off.
I don't know what mac model you have but DIMMs do have a tendency like any electronic part to attract and hold onto dust.
The old G5s were notorious for how much dust could build up down inside those systems and get empacked. And somehow still work but not as well.
If you see temperature sensors that don't look normal, or the fans seem to be working when you aren't doing anything, that would then be a reason to take action. Otherwise, not sure if more harm than needed good.

  • Best Way to Remove Server from Active Directory

I was wondering the best practice to remove a server from AD according to Microsoft.
    Option 1 :
Login to server and take it off the domain and put it into a workgroup
Then login to AD and make sure it is removed
    Confirm removal from DNS
    Option 2 :
Login to Domain Server and manually remove
    Confirm removal from DNS
    Thanks
Also the servers are running Windows 2008 R2

So if its just a file server, I would just go with option 1 to ensure the cleanest removal from Active Directory?
What would happen if I just removed it from Active Directory after powering it down?  Still a clean result?  Or is it considered best practice to take the server off the domain from the server then power it down and then remove from Active Directory?
Please let me know and also if you want me to clarify.
I am not sure if I understood you correctly but if you just right click the computer object in Active Directory and delete it you have to manually delete the DNS records as well or wait for scavenging period to delete the outdated DNS records.
