Best way to share photos with PC users?

I'm a new mac user so have been using my pc and kodak gallery for quite some time now as a tool to share pictures, however,I woul like to continue sharing photos with mostly pc users. I usually share about 100 at a time. On my PC, I was able to change the name of a picture into a description that would then get imported into kodak gallery so I had the description on both the site and the pc. On the Mac, I love the ability to assign a comment to the picture but is there anyway to bring this comment into the title of the pictures in any of these photosites (such as shutterfly, snapfish or kodak gallery).

You can do this with the title field in iPhoto, rather than the comments field. Changing the title in iPhoto does not rename the file; it is only used within iPhoto. However, you can select all the photos you want to share, then do File > Export to a folder on your desktop. Where it says Name you have the option to export by title. The original files inside iPhoto will be untouched. You will get a copy (outside iPhoto) of each selected file, and the file names will then match their iPhoto titles. During the export is also where you can choose to resize the files, so that you are uploading smaller photos (necessary for email and some websites).
Kodak Gallery has a batch uploader for Mac, called Ofoto, that you can download onto your Mac. You can drag the whole folder of exports from your desktop to the Ofoto window and upload at once. When you have finished uploading, you can trash the desktop files, since they are only copies.

  • Best way to share photos with friends?

    Hi,
I want to share photos with my friends and family non-publicly. They should be able to view them and download them if they want. What would be the easiest way for this? Any good or bad experiences here?
    Thanks
    p.

Do your friends and family also have a mac or iPad/iPhone, or a Windows / PC? Then you could use Shared Photo Streams:  See: iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ
    For further information:
iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
Shared Photo Streams would let you stream selected photos from your Aperture library directly to your friends's devices.  Alternately upload your photos to an ftp-server and share the download link, for example, if you have a Drop Box account, you can share the link to folder in your Pictures folder.

  • Best way to share photos with others

I have over 1000 photos in iPhoto '11 and want to share them with 3 others, 2 of whom have Macs and one has a Windows machine. None of the 3 are on y local network.
Is there a way I can share all my photos with these 3 people? I would ideally like to allow them to view the photos using the facial recognition so that they can search for specific people.
    Thanks!

To share with faces you need to use a sharing service that supports face information - Facebook for example
    otherwise shared photoStreams

What are the best ways to share photos from iPhoto?

If you use Adobe Photoshop, or even Adobe Photoshop Elements, stay as far away from iPhoto as possible.
iPhoto does not play nice with Adobe software or with software from any other third party developer.
iPhoto will hide your image files in a library paradigm where you have no access to them other than through iPhoto.

  • What's the best way to share photos?

Now that MobileMe Gallery is gone, what's the best way to share photos over the internet?
Is there some simple method where I can upload an entire album from iPhoto and then send a link to others so they can view them?
I've tried both Flickr and Shutterfly and did not like either.

Thanks for the idea, but it still seems kinda kludgy.

Why can't iPhoto just pull the images from a media browser or something over the network?
I don't know. Part of the issue has to be that iPhoto is not a HD browser. Another part is what you mean by " ... just pull the images".
Any tips on creating a locally hosted web gallery?
My greatest single tip of all time: try it! The tools available to use for just a few hundred dollars are astoundingly powerful.
Or... does anyone have any Automator magic they'd like to share?
No need. Web galleries are built into Aperture 3. Put the images you want to be in the gallery in one Album (Smart or otherwise). Select all the images. Click "New→Web Page". Select a theme. Change some of the text. Make some other changes. Click "Export Web Pages ... ". Make some more decisions. Give the folder a name. Save it somewhere with access to those whom you wish to see it. Select "Tell me when done". Check your email (have a coffee). Click "Show in Finder". Open the folder. Double-click the file "index.html". Brilliant! Enjoy.
The trick to sharing this is to make the folder available. The index file will always open the web site pages in a web browser.

  • Best way to share analytics with 3rd party?

What's the best way to share analytics with a third party (our client in this case)? Setup a new DPS user and restrict access to just analytics (is that even possible)? Is there some other software out there to accomplish this? Perhaps something that scrapes itunesconnect? Basically, our client wants sales numbers. I'd like to go a step further and provide content stats.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • What is the best way to geotag photos with data from GPS Tracker Log (GPX format)?

I just returned from a 4 month trip to Southeast Asia. Before I left, I set the time on my camera, a Canon 7D, to match the GPS time on my GPS tracker, a QStarz BT-Q1000X. Both times were set to UTC, also known as GMT.
I have imported the data from the GPS log into Aperture as a GPX file. Now I would like to sync the location metadata on my photos with the data from the GPS log. How can I do this using Aperture 3?
I seem to be having two problems:
Aperture wants to shift the times based on which part of the track I drag the images onto. Since the camera and gps tracker times were sync'd, I do not want any shift.
The time shifts that are displayed are 12 hours and a few minutes, rather than 0 hours and a few minutes.
    A few additional notes:
When I imported the GPS track, Aperture automatically changed the time zone of the track to Asia/Ho Chi Minh City, which is correct (GMT+7).
I have batch changed the images from Camera Time: UTC to Actual Time: GMT+7
The time on my computer is US/Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4), or Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) when the photos where taken.
Since I was gone for so long, and my GPS tracker memory is limited, I set the tracker to record a trackpoint once every 60 seconds.
Is there a solution to my problems using Aperture 3, or should I start looking for third party applications to geotag the photos before importing them into Aperture?
    Thank you.

I think the 12 hour discrepancy is more likely a result of the 12 hour difference between GMT+5 and GMT-7. The dates and times of the photos and the GPS track are displayed properly in Aperture. See the images below.

  • Best way to share files with slow upload

Hopefully this is the right place..
I have a large number of files (about 500mb each) that I need to send to the states (I'm in Ireland) but don't want to have to burn discs and post them etc.
As the title suggests I have a relatively slow upload speed. Anyone know what the best way to do this would be?
currently I am doing 7 files that total 2.3GB by iDisk and it says it will take 13 hours..
    Regards

    Hi Alax
Just a thought if there's no rush, how about investing in a 4GB flash drive or 4GB SD Card if you have a card reader on both ends and send the data that way?
    Example's:

  • How to share photos with other users

    Hello,
how can i share my photos in iPhoto with the other users (my family) on my mac. There is only one mac-computer. When i go to preferences sharing, there is allways the allert: your firewall software let not pass the port 8770.
    Achim

    Hi Achim,
You have to open that port on your Mac. Usually when you go to sharing prefs there is a checkbox to allow iPhoto sharing (thus opening that port)
Here are all the links I have on sharing.
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine

  • Any way to share applications with two users?

My sister's PC just up and started not working on her, so I've made her an account on my Macbook. Although, I have some applications (like Microsoft Word) that I don't exactly feel like reinstalling on her computer. Is there a way that I can drag and drop those applications into some folder, so that she'll be able to use them on her account?

    Applications that need no installer,
always drag them into your Applications folder
(so all users accounts can use them).
Apps that need an installer, are automatically installed in the Applications folder
(so any account can use them).
    Some rare installers will ask
"install only for this admin user or for all users?"
    Then choose "all users".

  • What's the best way to share iTunes with my old phone?

    Hi all,
Recently upgraded to a 6 and would like to keep my old 5 as bike / running GPS + iPod.
Is it possible to sync both with the same iTunes account without having the same apps on each?
Music seems straight forward, setting up separate playlists for each but the apps syncing / removing is a mess and I have limited space on the old phone.
    Many thanks for any help
    Tim

hey Tim , do you want to erase all your apps ? but keep your photos and contacts ?
well if you want this , sync your device with iTunes , and then take a backup , when you click on the backup iTunes will bring up you a window , which ask you do you want to backup your apps or not. choose don't backup apps , then after you backup your device. go to Setting ~> General ~> Reset ~> erase all content ... after you erase your apps. just restore your backup. then you can sync your device with no apps and books and more like that.
if I misunderstood please tell me so I can help u.

  • Best way to share files with 2 powerbooks

    Hello, I have 2 powerbooks 15" 1.67, the first one is running 10.39 the 2nd is 10.46,
I would like to be able to share files between the 2, will it be as easy as just connecting a cable between the 2? I know how to connect one of them as an external using firewire but I would like both systems to be on...do i need to update the 10.39 to 10.46 first?

    The answer is NO.
You do not need to have both on the same OS version...
They are seperate machines and each OS handels stuff that takes care of all this. In fact you can do this from PC to Mac, which are different too.
Assuming that you have a switch/router that both machines are both hooked into, then you don't need firewire - just ethernet, which is how I network mine together...
Then from what I remember go into one of the machines.. from the system preferences go to file sharing and turn personal file sharing on.
From the other machine with finder on the top bar cliock on "GO" then connect to server. Browse to find the other machine.
Again it has been a while, and I don't have 2 machines currently running, but I recall that you need to copy and paste, or else you end up drragging the files from one to the other.
I usually turn the sharing off when I'm not actually moving stuff around, probably good to have a firewall somewhere shield it from outside of your 'network'.
