Best way to store movies from iTunes

I have several movies I purchased from iTunes on my computer. Now I want to free up some space on my hard drive. What is the best way to store them off my computer so I can access them again in the future?

I believe you can do Back up to Disc and burn them as Data Discs. (Be sure to check your burning preferences first.) You won't be able to view them from the burned discs, but you can use them to restore to your library. Burning the movie itself....I doubt you can get it to fit on one CD. Another option would be to invest in an external drive. I hear they're pretty affordable.

  • Best way to store data from a plot on hard drive

I have a DAQ set-up that will be on 24/7 for several days, and the whole time it's streaming data to an XY-Graph with a limited buffer.  My question is, what's the best way to store my plot data in such a way that I can empty out my plot every few hours but if I want to pull up data from a few hours ago I would just have an option on my initial VI to view any old saved plot data.
Basically, I'm trying to not overload my RAM with all my plot data so I'd like to save it to the hard drive while my VI is running, and only display, for example the last 8 hours worth of data... I've been looking at TDMS, but I'm not sure if that's the right solution.
    much thanks!

    Hi,
You could save your data using TDMS as well as ASCII to simply load it in another application later.
Attached VI shows you how to save your data to a File after a certain amount of iterations, you can combine this then with your code and a timestamp.

  • What's the best way to store movies?

Hello, I have burned almost all of my videos to the iMac, and subsequently to iTunes and Apple TV.  I'm now running out of disk space on the iMac, no surprise.  I have a cloud based backup system (not iCloud), but it's not fast enough to support actually playing movies through iTunes to Apple TV.
so I'm considering buying a local storage drive and connect it to my network.  then I'll store burned movies, as well as about 200gb of home movies on it to use locally, then back that drive up to my cloud storage.
My question is how can I set this up to get optimal connection speed on the external drive?  I have a wireless router with 3 unused ethernet ports.  I don't think my iMac has firewire, and I know it doesn't have thunderbolt.
so is it possible for me to get an external harddrive plugged into the router via ethernet and access it as a local drive?  is that the best, meaning fastest way to do it?
Are the other options I'm not considering?

Connection speed for watching video isn't important. I've kept my video, photo & music libraries on EHD's for years with no issues. Apple explains how to move the libraries in:
iMovie: How to move the Library to an EHD
iTunes: How to move the library to an EHD
iPhoto: How to move the Library to an EHD
BTW look at the owners manual for you iMac, it has Firewire if it's newer than 2006 it has Firewire 800.

  • Can't I use time capsule to store movies from itunes?

    Hi,
Here's my problem. I have a Time Capsule running as a router as well as a HDD and my OS is Windows 8. My music and Tv Shows purchased on Itunes are stored on the TC. However when I try to store movies I get this message:
"This item is incompatible with your hard drive.
You have a FAT32-formatted hard drive. This means that you cannot buy items that are larger than 4 GB. Click OK to learn more."
Is there anyway to store my movies on it without change the quality from HD to SD? And if someone knows please tell me why the limit is 4 GB and not 10GB for example(it would definitely solve the problem).

    Sure.
Why are so many peolple asking this?
    Just store your files there.
And when using Time-Maschine for the back-up select the Time-Capsule (whatever name your has) as the place to store the date.
    cheers, anne

  • Best way to Remove movies from iphoto to freeup space ?

I would like to remove all the movies from iphoto and place them in a folder for later processing in imovie ...i would like to free up all the space
    any suggestions

    Really easy:
Find all the movies in your iPhoto Library. Then Export them to a Folder. Then delete them from iPhoto.
What makes this easy is that every movie is automatically keyworded when you import it.
So to find all the Movies:
    File -> New Smart Album
    Keyword -> is -> Movie
Now that you've found them. Select All and
File -> Export *_Kind: Original_* (Note: setting the Kind: to Original is vital)
    And export them.
    Then trash them from iPhoto.
    Regards

  • Best way to play movies from MacBook Pro to HDTV

I have some hi-res 1080p movies on my MacBook Pro which currently runs Lion 10.7.4.  Planning on upgrading to Mountain Lion but my hardware will not support Airplay Mirorring (it's a mid 2009).  I will soon be buying an iPad 3rd generation also which of course does do Airplay to an HDTV.  Somehow can I get the material off the MacBook Pro directly to the HDTV though maybe the new iPad or even an Apple TV?  I will be running the audio through an external stereo receiver/speakers, so just concerned with the video.  Also had read that my model of MacBook Pro only supports video from the minidisplay port to HDMI.
Best solutions?  I may get an Apple Tv if necessary or anything within reasonable cost including any programs for the Mac or iPad.
Oh NOTE:  My movies are just avi or mkv files and NOT in iTunes.

I believe you can do Back up to Disc and burn them as Data Discs. (Be sure to check your burning preferences first.) You won't be able to view them from the burned discs, but you can use them to restore to your library. Burning the movie itself....I doubt you can get it to fit on one CD. • How to view and store movies from iTunes.

New purchase of ATC 2TB this month Aug 22nd 2014. new surfboard modem same day. I am running direct TV as well.  The  ATC is tied in after the Surfboard 802.11. What is best configuration to watch ATV(2)? tried it last night and it ran even slower than before the upgrade. All devices are running on wifi. I have an early  2011 MBP 15" 500GB, and a late 2013 MBP air 11" 256GB. All devices are running the latest versions of iOS and required firmware.  Im trying to learn and figure out the best set up for the little ones to watch the many purchased iTunes movies. Most of which are downloaded to our laptops. I can put them on an external HD if need be. I have read that its NOT ideal to use them from the ATC itself as a storage location for movies as the ATV2 needs a computer to access iTunes  and to homeshare.

If you are switching the SIM card this is pretty easy. Copy the contacts from the Nokia to the SIM (consult the manual on how to do that). Then on the iPhone go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar and tap "import SIM Contacts."

  • What is the best way to Sample Vocals from iTunes using Logic?

I would like to add a couple 1 to 5 second vocal lines from an Itunes song to a Logic project on which I am working. I cannot figure out the easiest/ cleanest way to do this. Any ideas? Much thanks.

If you use Melodyne (with the new DNA feature) you can simply open Melodyne as a standalone app, drag the song into Melodyne and you can selectively start removing instrumentation to leave only the vocals.
It is an amazing app. I used it to mess up the chords in Day Tripper and played it back for some folks and told them it was a "bootleg" recording. You can have a lot of fun with Melodyne beyond the usual Logic plug functionality (time/pitch correction).

  • Best way to store video's in itunes

    Hi All,
Just wanted to get some thoughts on what you feel is the best way to store music videos in itunes.
    Would you either:
    1. Have music videos that come with CD’s tagged and retained in the same album with the music.
    Eg
    Track 1 of 3 – Audio
    Track 2 of 3 – Audio
    Track 3 of 3 – Music Video
    or
    2. Have music videos stored under their own “album”. That is, Track 3 above not linked to the audio tracks on the same CD, so that you effectively create an “album” with all your music videos.
I know either way will do, but wanted to know what way was working well for the masses!
    Thanks

ok, maybe im not saying it right. I just want to store my movies in itunes, I know how to import them there i was just wondering if i can create folders for all those video clips in itunes? Im tired of storing them all in imovie and creating new events each time i upload videos?

  • HT1657 i rented a move from iTunes...i was on a plane and tried to watch it, but got a message that there was a problem in accessing the iTunes store.  i had a wifi connection, but had to buy internet access to watch the movie.  is this normal?

i rented a movie from itunes.  i was on a plane when i tried to access it...but got an error message saying "cannot access itunes store".  i had a wifi connection but had to purchase internet to watch the movie on the plane.  never had this problem with my ipad and never have it when i download tv shows.  what's the deal with movies?

It's not normal, presuming that the movie downloaded completely, but it has come up from time to time. I've not been able to figure out from the various posts why rentals work for most but in some cases insist on a connection to the iTunes store. Go here:
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
to report the issue to the iTunes Store. Perhaps they can provide an explanation, though you may just get canned and rather inapplicable replies about how to rent or download.
    Regards.
