  • Best way to store doc on iPad mini

What's the best way to keep documents available on an iPad mini - there's no desktop equivalent. Can I make folders?

No. iOS does not have a file system like a computer would. So no desktop, and no directly accessible file folders.  If you need to store documents, they are stored within the Applications that can open them. So PDF's can be stored in the Adobe App or in iBooks. Word documents would be inside Apple's Pages or a 3rd party App that can open them. If these Apps support folder creation (many do) you can make folders in there.
There are also more generic file management Apps that can store different types of files and support folder organization.  File Manager is pretty good.

You might also want to look into iTunes File Sharing.

  • What is the best way to print from an iPad?

I have the Printer Pro app, and it seems to do a good job locating my wireless printer, but it gets complicated to print webpages or pages documents. What is the best way to print from an iPad 2?

If you have a compatible printer, use AirPrint http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
If not, you would need to purchase software, such as:

  • Whats the best way to connect multiple iphones, ipads, ipods with multiple accounts to one mac

I have iPhone 5s, ipad 4th gen ipod classic and mac mini on one itunes account with iphone 4s with ipad 1st gen on another account (wife's account) and also want to be able to add to this in the future. I want to connect through the mac mini and be able to use music movies calanders reminders etc through all our i's, whats the simplest and best way to go about this, before i start down the wrong road.

Ok, here is the link to the original thread.  The key, for him, was that all of the pads used the same apple id, and needed to be set up identically.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15456170#15456170
The other trick they use for distributing materials for whatever class was using the pads, was to create an e mail account that they all had acees to.  The documents, pdf, or whatever, would be e mailed to the account.  Each kid accesses and downloads the email.  Does whatever they are supposed to do, and e mails the done result back to the mailbox.     Easy for the teacher and the kids.

  • What's the best way to set up my iPad and iPhone through I tunes

I have an iPad and now an iPhone what's the best way to sync these in iTunes I'm assuming I'll use the same account and as such the same music aps etcwill sync on both devices? Also it is best to back up to the cloud and would this allows instant transfer of data between device ie pictures? Thanks

You can use the same Apple ID, iTunes will still be able to tell them apart. If both are on IOS 5.x, you can use backup from the iCloud. To have pictures across all you devices, switch Photo Stream to ON.
Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream.
(Note: Photos that are already in Photo Library will not stream, only those you take after Photo Stream is switched on)

  • Best Way to Sync Multiple iPhones/Ipads

    Hi folks,
We're new to Apple computing and preparing for new iPhones and an iPad as a start. Would like to make sure we use the best setup for our main iTunes computer at home.
I understand one computer running iTunes can sync with up to three iPhones or iPads, is this correct? We'll have two iPhones and one iPad to start, we're thinking about building a master library of music, videos, and apps on the main home computer and syncing to all three devices - is that the best way to handle it? Are the Apps licensed to run on multiple devices, or do you have to buy a license for each device?
    Thanks.
    Pat

I'm a bit new to this also, but now have an iPod Touch and an iPad, and am syncing them both to one iTunes computer. Seems to be working fine. iTunes recognizes which device is currently connected and maintains separate sync configurations for each.
I have the iPod Touch set up to automatically sync all music, videos, podcasts, etc, when connected. (All but the ones unchecked in the library listing, this is only 10 or so high res videos that I want to sync only to the iPad.) So the iPod Touch is essentially set to sync everything but a few exceptions.
Then the iPad I have configured to only sync selected files. Those are the high res movies I want only on the iPad, a few of the apps, some music videos, etc. So the iPad is set up kind of opposite to how the iPod is set. That is, instead of syncing almost everything, sync only those items explictedly selected.
So when I add a new for example high res movie to the iTunes library, I unchecked it in the library listing which prevents it from being synced to the iPod, and I checked it on the movie tab of the iPad device so that it IS synced to the iPad.
    Works fine.
At this point most of my apps sync to the iPod Touch. I have a few like the Kindle app, USA Today, etc that are also synced to the iPad also. Those were free so I guess no problem with licensing.
I did briefly try additionally syncing a 99-cent game to both the iPod and the iPad and that worked fine. Not sure if this will hold for all paid-for apps or not.
Anyway, good luck with your new setup.

  • What is best way to give a used iPad to someone?

Buying the new iPad.  Want to give my iPad 2 to my wife.  What is the best way to do that?

Does she want any of your content on it, and has she got her own iTunes account ? Any purchased content on the iPad will remain tied to your iTunes account, so it will need to be on the computer that she syncs to if she wants to be able to have any of it (so your iTunes account will need to be authorised on that computer).
If she doesn't want any of your current content then you can log out of your account on the iPad by tapping on it in Settings > Store an you can then restoreit to factory defaults via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents And Settings.

  • Best way to watch Netflix? Ipad 3 or direct connect to Panny ready blu-ray?

    I am researching the best way to stream Netflix?  Here is what I have;
    Brand new iPad 3
Pioneer VSX-1120 which has both HDMI inputs and a iPad USB/rca input.
Panasonic DMP-BDT1-- Blu-Ray with Netflix ready, (has ability to connect to Internet via Ethernet or wirless adapter)
Panasonic TC-P58VT25 full 3d HDTV with HDMI and Ethernet inputs.
    Westell 7500 wireless router
    What are your suggestions?
Download Netflix on iPad and connect to Pioneer receiver  This would stream wireless from the router to iPad  Then wired from iPad to receiver???
Just connect the Blu-Ray player or TV to the Router with Ethernet?  No wireless involved.
    Help...???

I would go Ethernet (assuming it is not a problem running the cable), and allow your Blu-Ray player do the work.  That way your WiFi bandwidth for in hone computer-to-computer Data transfers is not affected, and any such in home transfers do not affect your Netflix viewing.  Also if you have any WiFi interference it will not affect your Netflix viewing.
This would leave your iPad free to play with during the movie :-)
I would use the iPad to browse and select Netflix movies putting them in your "Instant Queue", so you can easily start watching form the Blu-Ray player.  Chances are the Blu-Ray player's user interface is not very user friendly :-)
You can still download Netflix to your iPad, and watch movies directly on your iPad when you do not want to sit in front of your TV (such as when you are away from home, or someone else is using the TV).
This is more or less the setup I use, only I have an internet capable TV with Netflex built in. I had the option of Ethernet or WiFi, and went Ethernet, for all the reasons above, especally since browsing Netflix via the TV interface is a pain, but selecting a movie already in my Netflix Instant Queue was easy. And I still watch a movie on my iOS device, if that is more convent.
If the Blu-Ray Netflx experence is not as good as using the iPad, or if there is extra expensive equipment to buy, or getting Ethernet to the TV location is a problem, them adjust your setup accordingly.
