Best way to transfer data from other computer
I'm wondering what is the fastest, or most reliable way to transfer data from another computer to my G5. I've skimmed through manual for G5 and it seems to list several options, if I'm understanding it correctly.
1. Using Airport Extreme
2. Using Bluetooth
3. Hooking up a local Ethernet connection
4. Setting up a Firewall connection?
I want to be able to transfer a completed iDVD project created on an iMac G3 to my G5 for burning the DVD. And which method (if any) will work with a non-Mac computer?
Anyone know the advantages, disadvantages of the transfer methods?
ccCarol
If you have a high-speed connection, another easy & fast way to transfer files between computers is through AIM (AOL Instant Messenger).
iChat has the same ability of transferring large files as AIM.

If you know how to set up a computer-to-computer Ethernet network, then you can give that a try, but a hard drive will be faster than Ethernet unless you don't have a lot to transfer.

Best way to transfer data from one MBP to another
Hi there,
In few days time I'll be swaping MBP 15 Retina (os 10.9.3) for new one. Some thech issues with the current one. Have to send old and will get new.
TM Backups runs automaticaly Airport Time Capsule (wireless).
What is the best and safest way to transfer whole data?
How to setup Time Machine? Any special settings for last backup before will send it?
How to get all stuff back on the new one?
About 150GB on HD.
ThanksMake a bootable backup/clone of your current machine onto an ext HD. Better than restoring from TM. Then, when you get the new machine, on first boot (assuming whoever's providing it to you hasn't already set it up), follow the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide, migrating from the bootable backup/clone.

What's the best way to transfer everything from my 5-year-old iMac to my 1-year-old iMac?
What's the best way to transfer everything from my 5-year-old iMac to my 1-year-old iMac?
I'm doing role reversal with these two. The newer imac is becoming our business computer, the older one will be our personal computer from now on until it gives out. For the record, I have Carbonite on the business unit. Should be a no-brainer, right? (Which is precisely why I'm asking!)
Thanks for whatever timely and accurate advise you may have.Thanks. I stumbled across migration assistant later that afternoon in a google search. Just finished using it today to do the deed. Appreciate your quick response!

I have a macbook running 10.6.8 is there a way to transfer docs from that computer to iCloud with out using a third party app like dropbox?
Yes - if you have the iWorks apps or apps that support iCloud and if you have iCloud setup on the iPad correctly. You do by using Safari on the Mac.
If you have Pages on both devices - you can log into iCloud.com on the Mac. Sign in, and click on the iWorks icon in the browser window in Safari. Then click on Pages at the top in the next window. Then drag your Pages document from the Mac desktop onto the browser window and the document will be available in Pages on the iPad when you launch it. -

Different ways to Transfer data from one database to another database
Hi all,
What are the ways to transfer data from one database to another database. With the following options, i Can transfer data as far as i know. Please
correct me if i am wrong or tell me if there is any other options are available.
1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.
2) By using Export and Import utilities.
I told first one to my interviewer, he told, its strange, by using, COPY command also can we transfer data ? As far as i know, we can transfer data. Am i right ?
Thanks in advance,
Paltransfer data from one database to another database. You mean store the data of one to another?
1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.every SELECT on a DB-link is transfering data. And you can have all kind of transfers and store on the e.g CTAS of materialized views or.... the SQL*PLUS COPY :
The COPY command is not being enhanced to handle datatypes or features introduced with, or after Oracle8i. The COPY command is likely to be made obsolete in a future release.
But there are many others. Check for ORACLE Streams, and the "COPY" your interviewer was mentioning is about the operating file system COPY right? That's transportable tablespaces.

Hi All
What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?
Release: 11.5.8
OS: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit) verison 9
DB: 9.2.0.1
Thanks in advanceWhat kind of data you are looking to move?
Database export/import is only supported for full database export/import and the application release should be the same on the source/target nodes.
You can move the setup using iSetup or FNDLOAD.
Thanks,

Best way to transfer files from old Macbook Pro to new one?
I just got a new Macbook Pro from Apple...YEEEEAAAHHHH!
So....
What's the best way to transfer files from old Macbook Pro to new one? I know Migration assistant, but is there a recommended way? I don't want to put do a system restore or transfer everything from the old laptop, but I do want to move important things like photos, music, documents and such over. Any suggestions on best way to do this?
Another question, perhaps subquestion. If I have, say, an older version of iPhoto but a newer version of one on my new Macbook Pro, will it still transfer photos no problem?
Just looking for hints from the experts so this puppy is set up in the best way possible.Just one comment on this:
‘If I have, say, an older version of iPhoto but a newer version of one on my new Macbook Pro, will it still transfer photos no problem?’
the problems are ALWAYS in the reverse way, when you have the newest (or a newer) version of a given app, and wish to transfer its library to an older version.
Otherwise, see the link to Pondini.
I have been using Martin Jahn’s iBackup, with which I have become accustomed and works fine. It also makes daily backups. Its advantage over other apps is that you may add whatever you wish to save, beside its default settings (which you may delete or cancel, of course, even if not recommended); it also has a friendly interface and easily customizable. Of course, this is a personal view, you may try other methods as well, or other backup apps. All are good if you are satisfied and correspond to your needs. -

Remove the hard drive and get one of these USB hard drive adapters. http://tinyurl.com/a5l2htj Then plug the adapter into your iMac to see/retrieve the files.

What's the best way to transfer footage from a Sony miniDVD camcorder?
Do not use "mini" DVD's in any slot loading DVD drive.
Buy a cheap "tray loading" external DVD drive and attach it to your Mac. -
Best way to extract data from archived cube
Hello Experts,
Can anyone tell me best way to extract data from archived cube.
Basically I am trying to pull all the data from archived cube and then load it into another brand new infoprovider which is in different box.
Also I need to extract all the master data for all infoobjects.
I have two options in my mind:
1) Use open hub destination
or
2) Infoprovider>display data>select the fields and download the data.
Is it really possible to extract data using option (2) if records are too high and then load it into another infoprovider in new system.
Please suggest me the pros and cons for the two options.
Thanks for your time in advance.Hello Reddy,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
Actually in my case I am trying to extract archived infocube data and then load it into new infoprovider which is in different system. If I have connectivity I can simply export data source from archived infocube and then reload into new infoprovider.
But there is no connectivity between those two systems (where archived cube is and new infoprovider) and so I am left with the two options I mentioned.
1) Use Open Hub
or
2) Extract data manually from infoprovider into excel.
Can anyone let me know which of the two options is the best and also I doubt on how to use excel in extracting data as excel have limit of no.of records 65536
Thanks

Best way to transfer data between loops?
Hi, whats the best way to transfer data between loops(state machines, regular while loop etc) in labview. For so many years ive been using local variables but these can cause race conditions. Anyone advise?
StuIt depends one the structure of the loops and how they need to exchange data (unidirectional, bidirectional, broadcasting).
The simple case of one loop passing data to the other loop: producer/consumer design pattern using a queue
If the structure already contains an event structure: User Events
The way I code is documented in my community nugget on events
I often mix this with producer/consumer.
