Best way to update audio files in library

I have quite a few audio files in the library for a Captivate project.  I just modifed a bunch of them, and I am wondering the best way to update the library.
If I delete the files in the library, I lose all the links to which audio went with which slide.
If I go into each slide and replace the audio, that is more time consuming, and still a problem when the old audio file is still in the library
I don't see an option for directly replacing the audio in the library; if I put the new version (same name) it just adds it with a (2), i.e. audioclip and audioclip(2)
The update option does not give me what I need, unless I am missing something.  First of all, I am using both a Windows computer at the client site, and my own Mac, so the paths are different.  To use the update I would have to update the path for each audio file, which is more trouble that updating every file manually.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi there,
The recommended way is to go to that slide and import the slide audio again, new audio will replcae the old.
Once you have replaced all the audios, the audio files that are not in use in the project will still show up in Library.
You can get rid of all unused items from the library, by clicking on the icon for unused icon and then delete icon:
Thanks.

  • What is the best way to download audio files?

I am building a website for a church.  How do I put the weekly audio sermons on the site, so that the files don't take forever to download?
I had a link with quicktime, but someone said they didn't have that plug-in, so I have embedded the files.
...what is the most popular and fast way for people to hear the sermons?
I have split up the pages.
I was hoping for one like, https://crosspointelpaso.ctsmemberconnect.net/sermon-ctrl.do?view=0&grpId=26073
This is where I am now...http://www.estevanfaithlutheran.com/listentosermonsonline.html
    Thank you.
    Em

The site that you referenced is using mp3 for the sermon audios...  if you look at the code for one of the links it is this:
    <a href="https://f1.ctsmemberconnect.net/garoupdb/O-0000000937/G-0000026073/audio/Sep 21 2008.mp3" title="" target="_blank">What Is God Looking At?</a>
It then depends on what the client machine uses to run mp3s as to how they open, automaticallly or the viewer is asked whether they want to open the file using their mp3 player.  Probably more widespread than using quicktime.

  • (workflow question) - What is the best way to handle audio in a large Premiere project?

    Hey all,
This might probably be suitable for any version of Premiere, but just in case, I use CS4 (Master Collection)
I am wrestling in my brain about the best way to handle audio in my project to cut down on the time I am working on it.
This project I just finished was a 10 minute video for a customer shot on miniDV (HVX-200) cut down from 3 hours of tape.
I edited my whole project down to what looked good, and then I decided I needed to clean up all the Audio using Soundbooth, So I had to go in clip by clip, using the Edit in SoundBooth --> Render and Replace method on every clip. I couldn't find a way to batch edit any audio in Soundbooth.
For every clip, I performed similar actions---
    1) both tracks of audio were recorded with 2 different microphones (2 mono tracks), so I needed only audio from 1 track - I used SB to cut and paste the good track over the other track.
    2) amplified the audio
    3) cleaned up the background noise with the noise filter
I am sure there has to be a better workflow option than what I just did (going clip by clip), Can someone give me some advice on how best to handle audio in a situation like this?
Should I have just rendered out new audio for the whole tape I was using, and then edit from that?
Should I have rendered out the audio after I edited the clips into one long track and performed the actions I needed on it? or something entirely different? It was a very slow, tedious process.
    Thanks,
    Aza

    Hi, Aza.
Given that my background is audio and I'm just coming into the brave new world of visual bits and bytes, I would second Hunt's recommendation regarding exporting the entire video's audio as one wav file, working on it, and then reimporting. I do this as one of the last stages, when I know I have the editing done, with an ear towards consistency from beginning to end.
One of the benefits of this approach is that you can manage all audio in the same context. For example, if you want to normalize, compress or limit your audio, doing it a clip at a time will make it difficult for you to match levels consistently or find a compression setting that works smoothly across the board. It's likely that there will instead be subtle or obvious differences between each clip you worked on.
When all your audio is in one file you can, for instance, look at the entire wave form, see that limiting to -6 db would trim off most of the unnecessary peaks, triim it down, and then normalize it all. You may still have to do some tweaking here and there, but it gets you much farther down the road, much more easily.Same goes for reverb, EQ or other effects where you want the same feel throughout the entire video.
    Hope this helps,
    Chris

  • I have a iMac Desktop and MacBook Pro laptop. I generate my work related files on both of these machines. What is the best way to keep the files in these machines synchronized?

I have a iMac Desktop and MacBook Pro laptop. I generate my work related files on both of these machines. After a few days or weeks, I have new files on some folders on either of the machines that is not on the other machine. What is the best way to keep the files in these machines synchronized?

How did you transfer the files to the iMac.  If you exported the files out of the MB library using Kind = Current you should get the edited version.  Any other  option may not.
If you want to keep the two libraries "synced"  any photos you want to move to the iMac should be added to an album, connect the two Mac with a LAN, Target Disk Mode,  Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, with WiFi. and use the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album from the MB library to iMac library.  It will also copy the original and edited versions, keywords, titles, etc.

  • Best way to update a solaris jumpstart OS image.

    Hi all,.
Ive been recently building some v240's but have run into trouble with the rather out of date 02/02 instance of Solaris 8 (yes, i did say solaris 8 - it's a political thing..)
Anyhow, I have cd images of Solaris 8 02/04 and have a copy of the Sun Blueprints Jumpstart book by "Howard and Noordergraph".
On page 92, it says to use the "setup_install_server" script with the -b option for /jumpstart/OS/Solaris-xx-xx-xx.
Ive done that without any probs, then it goes on to say if you want an install server do the same command again without the -b switch.
Problem is that it spews out this message.
    733 root&#64;bbs00080 # ./setup_install_server -b /jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_02-2004/
    Verifying target directory...
    setup_install_server:
The target directory /jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_02-2004/ is not empty. Please choose an empty
directory or remove all files from the specified directory and run
    this program again.
So i chose an empty directory and it goes and does it.
    Is this an errata?
I already have /jumpstart/OS/Solaris_8_02-2002/ and I wanted to update the files so that I can boot the v240r.
Except 02/02 doesnt let me do that as it doesnt support the v240r arch.
Sun told me this, but I'm lost because my existing profile for this box, lists all the packages I want to install, but it whinges about not being able to find a .cdrom toc file.
I already have three flash archives which i created from good builds from 02/02, in my rules file which work, but this pesky update for the 240r is getting to be a little tricky.
So far, ive tried copying all the packages from 02/02/Products directory into 02/04/Products but some of them don't install despite being there.
Can anyone suggest the best way to update my 02/02 with the 02/04 boot loader for the v240?
Thanks in advance and sorry for any confusion.
    D.

I'm sorry. I meant. Say my array of x positions is 3, 4, 9. I change 9 to 30. How can I make the polygon see that change?

  • Best way to handle audio and video?

Can someone give me suggestions on best way to handle audio and video clips. 2 issues:
Audio- I want to avoid problems for visitors who may need to install something to listen, and would like them to be able to remain viewing page while listening. I understand how to set up the Iweb player option, and I understand how to simply link to a mp3 file that relies on the visitors player. I'm thinking I need to "embed a player" (?) which is something I haven't dealt with yet.
Video- I have a link to a .mov file. It plays it in either a real small box, or if you enlarge it , the image deteriorates. Is there a better way to handle this?

Yes that should work for what you want.

  • Best way to update exposed schema as WCF service ?

    Hi,
I am newbie to WCF + BizTalk. I am doing small POC's on exposing & consuming orchestration & schemas as WCF service. I had successfully exposed schema as WCF service also consumed this service using C# client code.
My question is that suppose if there is a change in the existing exposed schema say a field has to be added then what is the best way to update a service. Do we need to add a field in schema & again expose this schema and update our service referernce
in the client code ? Or this can be achieved in a better way ???
    Regards,
    Rahul Madaan
    BizTalkVillage.blogspot.com

    Hi Rahul,
When you expose Orchestration or Schema as a WCF service and let's say if there are only few fields which got updated/added then there are multiple options to handle it.
    For example-
    1) You can go ahead and update the XSD files within AppCode folder. You can find this folder by doing explore on web application(in iis manager). Whenever we expose schema or orchestration these schemas are generated and kept in this folder. When you check
the WSDL it will have reference to these schemas and they will define the contract of incoming and outgoing message(request and response). This is the easiest way. I prefer it for Dev environments and testing.
    2) But I would suggest you to run the publishing wizard again as it's less error prone.
Please understand that BizTalk will always remain unaffected of the type of message it receives from the isolated host, the actual problem comes when hits the first receive shape(typed message).
    Thanks,
    Prashant

  • What is the best way to run .exe files on my mac?

What is the best way to run .exe files on my mac? I need to run some updates for my john deere gps and the downloads i get can only be run on windows.

There are several options for running Windows software (*.exe files) on a Mac, depending what your program is, how often you use it, and your personal preferences.
One way that does not require Windows is an open source effort called WINE.  Check out winehq.org.  You may find that that's all you need for your programs.  There is also a commercial effort that has grown from WINE, and you will find info about it on the site mentioned.  These DO NOT require that you have and install Windows.
If you want to run sessions devoted only to Windows software, and want programs to run as fast as they do on a PC, the Apple's Bootcamp program is useful.  With it you dedicate a partition on your hard disk to windows, and on startup choose to either boot into OS X or Windows.  Each runs without any connection to the other.  This requires you have a copy of the Windows software as well as the applications you want to run.
If you want to be able to easily exchange data between your Windows and Mac programs, and skip back and forth between the two, there are several emulators available that run on Mac OS X and create a Windows environment where many Windows programs can operate along side Mac programs.  Parallels and VMwear are two comercial packages available for purchase and Virtual Box is an open source effort available for free.  Google will find all three for you.
My only experience is with Virtual Box.  It is slow and a bit clunky, but it is free and meets my needs for the very few "just got to have" windows programs I sometimes use.
Google is your friend on this and can provide a lot more, and better, information than I can.
    Best of luck,
    Ray

  • I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1. What is the best way to update my phone to the latest iOS platform?

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1. What is the best way to update my phone to the latest iOS platform?

you can update over the air with strong wireless signal, or by connecting to a computer running iTunes.  Either works well.  If you do the update over the air, be sure and attach your iPhone to a wall outlet so you have a solid power supply and don't risk the battery dying during the update.
The iTunes approach installs a much larger file because of the connection, but if you have not updated since 5.1 that might be a better approach...replace the entire operating system instead of patching.
Either way, backup the iPhone yourself just for your own protection in the off-chance something should go wrong...a little paranoia while updating is a good thing

  • Best way to compress wav files?

I have been recording lectures using my digital camera, and they come out in a wav format and like 200-300 MB for one hour of talking. That seems unecessarily huge. What is the best way to compress the files (maybe to mp3?) so that they are still decent enough quality to understand the speaking?

You can convert songs in your iTunes library to another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings, change your option to MP3 for example. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format

  • What is the best way to update your reference images?

    Hello,
We are using MDT 2013 to deploy Windows 7x64. We have an automated process to generate our reference images using Powershell and Hyper-V. It works great.
We generate new images once per month, and I would like to know the best way to update the .wims in the deployment share.
Can I just copy the new .wim file into the deployment share with explorer and overwrite the old one? I assume this method will retain the old GUID in the MDT console. Will new deployments just start using this new .wim as soon as it is coped? Do I need to
    update the deployment share?
Do I need to import a new OS through the MDT console? Doing this I assume will require me to select the new .wim in my task sequence, since the newly imported OS will have a new GUID.
Also, these .wim files are used in our test deployment share before our production share. Can I just copy/paste from one share to the other? What does this do to the OS GUID? Does it get a new one or does it retain the old GUID from the original share?
    Appreciate any feedback.

As long as the replacement WIM is the same version number, and the same WIM Index, I would be OK with just robocopy'ing the install.wim over the old version.
Replication between the test and production shares should use the same GUID's so you should be OK.

  • Best method of wma audio file conversion for iTunes/iphones

best method of wma audio file conversion for iTunes/iphones

    Fazel,
As you know, iTunes for Mac is not capable of processing WMA files.  The two best choices are:
Get access (even temporarily) to iTunes for Windows.  It can convert your WMA files to the format indicated in import preferences.  Use a USB flash drive to copy the files back to your Mac.
Use a 3rd party conversion program.  The one most preferred by Mac users is EasyWMA.
In either case, once you have the converted files, add them to your iTunes library.  Then delete the WMA originals.
