Best way to validate currency field based on two picklists

Hi,
Im having a great deal of trouble creating validation for the following statement:
If (Task type =”Call” or “Callback”) and (‘Outcome Category’ is “In Progress” or “Tried and Failed to Save” or “Saved”) then (‘Total Value of Policy’ must be > 0)
Both task type and outcome category are picklist items.
What is the easiest way for me to do this? Ive created something horribly complex which only works when I first create the record (possibly because of the use of FieldValue rather than stored values). Ive seen people use the NOT function before to do this - could this be an option?! Ive had no luck with anything Ive tried so far.
My current expression is as follows:
(FieldValue('<cTotal_Value_of_Policy_ITAG>') > 0
AND FieldValue('<Type>') <> LookupValue("TODO_TYPE", "Investigation") - - Because call or callback are the only other options in the list.
AND (FieldValue('<IndexedPick2>') <> LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_2", "In progress")
OR FieldValue('<IndexedPick2>') <> LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_2", "Tried & failed to save")
OR FieldValue('<IndexedPick2>') <> LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_2", "Saved")))
OR FieldValue('<Type>') = LookupValue("TODO_TYPE", "Investigation")
OR (FieldValue('<Type>') = LookupValue("TODO_TYPE", "Call")
AND (FieldValue('<IndexedPick2>') <> LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_2", "In progress")
AND FieldValue('<IndexedPick2>') <> LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_2", "Tried & failed to save")
AND FieldValue('<IndexedPick2>') <> LookupValue("OCC_INDEX_CUST_LOV_EVT_ACT_2", "Saved")))
Sorry for including this confusing chunk of code, but I think it explains how more complex i have made this than i probably need to!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is quite an urgent issue..
Many Thanks
AJ

Anon,
In your edit form, create two hidden items p10_ha, p10_hb (for e.g.) Make the default values for these items as values of p10_item_a and p10_item_b respectively. So when you are processing the update, you have old values in hidden items and new values in p10_item_a and b.
Now create 'after submit' pl/sql computation and put similar code
if p10_ha !=1 and p10_hb !=1 then
    if p10_item_a = 1 and p10_item_b = 1 then
    -- your business logic here
   :p_date_item := sysdate;
   end if;
end if;Hope it helps
Cheers

  • Best way to validate and xml file against a schema?

    As the subject states, I want to validate my xml file against a given schema....
    Currently my code looks like this:
    InputSource ipSource = new InputSource(new ByteArrayInputStream(bytesData)); // my xml file
    DOMParser parser = new DOMParser();
    parser.parse(ipSource);
    Document doc = parser.getDocument();
    I see that there is a setFeature method on DomParser.... but from what I read that doesnt support
    xml schema's, just DTD's. So what is the best way to validate with schema's?
    Any help would be appreciated

    This is the other way I tried doing it.... the problem with this way is I am building my xml file through DOM
    operations... and I haven't figured out how to add the schema line to the xml file through DOM manipulations.
    Has anyone done this bofore?
    try
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
         factory.setNamespaceAware(false);
         factory.setValidating(true);
         InputSource ipSource = new InputSource(new ByteArrayInputStream(bytesData));
         DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
         doc      = builder.parse(ipSource);
         return doc;
    catch(Throwable t)
         System.out.println("parse error: " +t);
    return doc;

  • Best way to validate a name field... (PHP)

    Hi,
    I'm trying to improve my contact form and as it is now I do
    the

    I limit the input (40 characters)
    I only allow one space between first and lastname
    I strip and add slashes

    Is this the best way to do it or is there something very

    Validate, but don't over-validate. There are some things you
    can fix
    silently, for example multiple spaces - just replace them
    with a single
    one and move on. Length limit is OK if you want to insert the
    data into
    a database.
    Slashes - you should remove them if magic quotes are enabled
    (check with
    get_magic_quotes_gpc()) and then use an appropriate escaping
    function if
    necessary, for example mysql_real_escape_string(),
    htmlspecialchars() or
    whatever. It just depends on what you want to do with the
    data.

  • What is the best way to validate?

    This image is a template Im using to create an expense form.
    http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/963/form25vp.jpg
    I have a specials item section which is just totaled from all the Special Items fields.
    Was able to create a totals script to but could not get it to leave the field blank. Thanks to Justin Klei using this script it totals without a problem.
    This has been placed it the Calculate section of the Total field.
    var totalval = form1.costs.spei1.rawValue + form1.costs.spei2.rawValue;
    if (totalval == 0 || totalval == null || totalval == "")
    this.rawValue = "";
    else
    this.rawValue = totalval;
    If the user types $12.00 into the Special Items 1 field they then are able to transfer this to the main table by clicking on any of the Special column fields. In each field Ive got the following script that will allow the user to click on any of the Special column fields and only apply the total once. If the user clicks on the Tuesday field and then decides to move the total to Sunday all they have to do is click on the Sunday field.
    This have been placed in the mouse down event (will create a transparent button later).
    if (this.rawValue)
    sunspe.rawValue = ""
    } else {
    sunspe.rawValue = spetot.rawValue
    monspe.rawValue = ""
    tuespe.rawValue = ""
    wedspe.rawValue = ""
    thuspe.rawValue = ""
    frispe.rawValue = ""
    satspe.rawValue = ""
    Ive just reused the script for each field and moved the spetot.rawValue to the appropriate day.
    Here is my question.
    If the user types a figure in Special Items 1 and then applies that figure to the Special column and then decides to add another figure to Special Items 2, what is the best what to validate the Special column?
    Would having a message pop up be the best?
    This has been placed in the Validate section of the Total field.
    if (spetot.rawValue != sunc1.rawValue)
    app.alert("There has been a change to the Special Item Total \n Please update the Special column.");
    Is it possible for the form to automatically update the figure if it has been applied to the Special column?
    The problem I have with the message currently is obviously it pops up every time you add a figure into the Special Items. Is there a way to compare only if there is a figure in the field?
    Any suggestions would be appricated.

    Hi,
    it was the same i built my small proj with the user authentication with SQL server and JSP.
    u should first create a table with 2 fields "user" and "pass"
    in ur jsp the name of the textboxes for the user and pass should b the same .
    use some other name to retrive the data form the table say "user1"and "pass1".
    u need 2 write some connections say "
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("user", "Pass");
    i'll post u the entire code soon.

  • Best way to validate multiple entity objects with each other

    I have the following scenario.
    There is one entity object with the following fields.
    Name
    Start Date
    End Date
    My requirement is to validate the dates in the entity do not overlap.
    What is the best way to achieve the same.
    This validation should be fired when we commit, since the user should be allowed to change the dates freely between entities.(Validation should not kick off when the current row changes)
    Thanks

    For this to achieve there is a concept called Effective Dated Entity Objects in Oracle ADF.

  • What is the best way to update Currency information in SRM?

    Dear Experts,
    there was additional information introduced in R/3, with respect to a certain currency (this currecy got a second abbreviation, whereas the first abbreviation was set as the primary ISO code).
    Can you please help me understand, what is the best way to get this additional information updated in SRM 7.0 (Classic)?
    - Do we replicate via the DNL_CUS_BASIS3 object?...and if yes, do we replicate from Development R/3 system to development SRM system and than transport it to SRM Quality and Production...or do we replicate level by level, i.e. from R/3 development to SRM development and than from R/3 Quality to SRM Quality and so on...
    OR
    - Do we update this change manually in SRM Development and than transport it to SRM Quality and Production?
    Thank you very much.

    Please elabotate what additional information regarding currency you need to update.
    As per std. SRM we may use "BBP_GET_CURRENCY" that will update currency details from ECC to SRM.
    But always you may add on required fields as required using enhancements.

  • Best way to autofill related fields (ADF Faces - ADF BC )

    Hi,
    I have the following database structure:
    Restaurant (RestId*, RestName, ..)
    |1
    |
    |n
    Categories (CatId*, RestId (FK), CatName, CatOrder,..)
    I am trying to implement the Categories page as follows (sorry for the layout but was the best I could do with text based interface...):
    Restaurant
    | RestId | | RestName |
    Categories List
    Select Category Name
    | o | CatId#1 | CatName#1 |
    | o | CatId#2 | CatName#2 |
    Category Detail
    | CatId |
    | CatName |
    | CatOrder |
    | Commit | | Rollback | | Create | | Delete |
    Autofill Functionality:
    1. After leaving the RestId input field RestName and Categories List gets populated. (For this I will be using the autoSubmit feature).
    2. If the user enters a wrong RestId (not in table restaurant) an error should be raised and user shouldn't be allowed to leave RestId field until it has the correct value.
    Question:
    Which is the best way of achieving such functionality having most part of the code at the ADF BC Layer ? It would be nice to have all validations inferred as they are when you define them at the Entity Object Layer.
    Thanks,
    Claudio.

  • Right way to validate form fields !!

    Hi,
    I am having a form with many fields including TextFields, Dropdowns, DateFields, Checkboxes, Radiobuttons etc.
    I am validating the most fields by making them REQUIRED. But I didn't found way to make Checkbox field required. So I am doing it by script by making its MANADATORY property to true. I am validating fields at the Form's preSubmit event.
    All I want to know that whether it is the right way to validation i.e.
    Making field.mandatory = true; (for checkboxes or may be some other field too)
    Check it at preSubmit event of the form;
    I want to code it according to best practices. That's why this question bounces up in the mind.
    Thanks.

    Thank you for your replies!
    I understand how to get data into a JCombobox,
    but what about my bigger, general question?
    "I am confused because in other parts of my program I get a database connection and am not sure if you just form a query each time you need data or store the results somewhere (vector, array, collection)and use it this way." when the data or parts need to be used again.
    This is the help I need.
    Thanks again1

  • Best way to create a table based on another table

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a table based on another table with all the data in it. It has large data.
    create table <tablename> as select * from table1.
    Is this the best way of doing it or is there any other way. please advice.
    thanks

    I am suggested to create new table as
    create table <newtable> as
    select * from <oldtable> where rownum < 1;
    then
    alter table <newtable> compress;
    then
    insert /*+ append */ into <newtable> as select * from <oldtable>;
    but i getting an error saying missing values key words ora- 00926.
    please advice

  • Best way to select distinct values based on another column?

    I have a table with three columns: id (NUMBER), data_dt (DATE), and data_value (NUMBER).
    There is a primary key on id and data_dt.
    I want to select the record with the latest data_dt for each unique id.
    What is the best way to do this?
    I have three different methods, but there may be something I am missing.
    First:
    SELECT *
    FROM
      SELECT id, data_dt, data_value,
             FIRST_VALUE(data_dt)
             OVER (PARTITION BY id ORDER BY data_dt DESC) AS last_data_dt
      FROM the_table
    WHERE data_dt = last_data_dt;(I use ORDER BY...DESC instead of just ORDER BY so I don't need the ROWS BETWEEN clause)
    Second:
    SELECT t1.*
    FROM the_table t1
    JOIN
      SELECT id, MAX(data_dt) AS last_data_dt
      FROM the_table
      GROUP BY id
    ) t2 ON (t2.id = t1.id AND t2.data_dt = t1.data_dt);Third:
    SELECT t1.*
    FROM the_table t1
    WHERE t1.data_dt =
      SELECT MAX(t2.data_dt)
      FROM the_table t2
      WHERE t2.id = t1.id
    );-- Don

    Hi,
    There are more possible scenario's, for example:
    select t1.*
    from   the_table t1
    where not exists ( select null
                       from   the_table t2
                       and    t2.data_dt > t1.data_dt
    What is the best way to do this?Only you can tell:
    Test all scenario's, check the execution plans, set timing on and pick the best/fastest one ;-)
    If it's not clear, please post the execution plans here.

  • Unable to filter a formula field based on two conditions

    hi,
    I have a report with 3 subreports in it. When i drill down onto first subreport i am getting correct records in details based on selection criteria but when i am unable to populate the same record count in summary.
    For example
    On summary i see : 60 when i drill down i see 20 records which is correct but not reflecting onto summary report
    the details selection criteria is based on two  fields where field1>=1 and field2= "Text"It is coming out good (20 records) but in summary i am unable to populate this based on same selection criteria
    The main issue i am facing was if i apply a filter on summary selection criteria all the subreport counts are getting affected. Is there a way i can apply filters only one one field
    Please suggest
    Thanks!
    Lucky

    Thanks! for the prompt response Abhilash
    I got part of what you told me. Yes i am calculating the counts in the summary report.
    Basically here is the selection criteria: i need to filter the records based on two conditions. One is x.field1= "Admin" and x.field2=act_pct>=1
    For example:
    Admin Returns         50  but when i dig into details it showing as 20 records ( based on selection criteira above)
    when coming back to summary . 50 what ever is returing here is based on a formula ( if x.field1="admin" then 1 else 0) ..in addition to this i need to filter that by x.field2>=1 which is not taking it
    Is there any syntax to do this
    If i apply a filter on this particular 50 record its bee applying for whole summary report ...
    And from what you said :
    Why don't you create the summary in the Subreport and maybe use shared variables to bring it back to the Main Report?
    i did not get this
    Please suggest
    Lucky

  • I have two videos and I would like to use parts of both videos with one audio track what is the best way to edit this?, I have two videos and I would like to use parts of both videos with one audio track what is the best way to edit this?

    In Final Cut Express I have two videos I'd like to merge parts of each video into a final film.  What is the best way to do this in FCE?

    Hi
    I use a slightly different way than Alchroma.
    Same
    • One video on track 1 and the other on Video.track 2
    • Resize to 25% and move one to the left and the other to the right
    Diff
    • I don't use the blade tool
    • I use the Pen tool and change the transparency - then I get fast or slow transitions in same stroke and easy to fine-tune later if needed. (But this can be done with the Roll-tool if Blade is used - so it might be as easy)
    Final
    • Resize to 100% and Center
    Video is done
    Audio - very close to this by changing the level so that best audio will dominate
    • Pen tool here too
    But that's me - the Alchroma way is as good as this or may be better for some

  • What is the best way, while creating Function Module based extractor

    Hi Friends,
    I am Sreekanth.
    I have created a Functio Module based Extractor,
    To fetch data from COPA tables.
    In this extracton 3 tables are getting involved.
    1) CE3OP01 2) CE4OP01 and 3) CE1OP01.
    Logic required is as follow:
    1) get data from CE3OP01 and for all entries of this data set,
    get data from CE4OP01 and CE1OP01 and finally send the data set to BW after few manupulations.
    I have implemented the whole logic and its working fine in DEVELOPMENT box where data volume is less.
    But the same code is timing out in Quality Box, due to huge volues of data.
    Below I am copying the code that i am using . Any body can suggest me how to proceed further so that my code works with huge volumes of data.
    Now I am getting the time out error while selection data from CE3IOP01 table itself.

  • Best way to do a tile-based map

    Hello everybody-
    This should be a simple thing but I just can't get it to work. I'm making a tile-based top-down online rpg (application, not applet), and I pretty much have most of it done except I can't get the map to display and scroll right. i will admit that java graphics isn't really my thing, but i just can't get it. Its been so frustrating that i actually quite develpment on my game and quit for awhile, but i decided to try again. What I have is an array if images that make up the map, and then i manipulate the array depending where the character is so i only draw the tiles necessary. what i want to do is to combine all the tiles i need for the particular position, draw that image to the screen (so i don't have to draw each tile individually to the screen). then i could move that large image depending where the character moved, and add tiles to it depending on which way the character moves. I just can't get it to work however. I've looked at double-bufferning posts and that gave me some ideas, but not enough for my particular situation. if anybody has any experience in this i would be more than greatful. thank you

    I know exactly what you are talking about, I had your problem a while back when I was doing mobile phone games.
    To reduce the number of cell draws needed, cells were only drawn when at the edges of the view area. (all other cells were maintained from the previously drawn frame.)
    It gets pretty complicated, but it will work - stick with it.
    I would post some code - but I don't have it anymore - and it was pretty specific to J2ME MIDP API (java mobile phone).
    p.s. When I did it, I had to include several additional optimisation, these made it incredibly complex :(
    I will try to describe it, but without pictures, It will probably be in vain. (don't worry if you don't understand it :P)
    here is the summary of the logic :-
    the backbuffer had dimensions SCREEN_WIDTH+CELL_WIDTH*2, SCREEN_HEIGHT+CELL_HEIGHT*2 (I effectively had a border that was CELL_WIDTH wide, and CELL_HEIGHT tall.)
    this meant new cells only had to be drawn every time the view area passed over a cell boundary.
    however, doing this, meant it was super smooth until it hit a cell boundary, at which point it had to draw all the cells in the newly exposed column and/or row - which caused a jerk.
    To get around this, I devised a speculative rendering, where by the next column/row was pre-rendered over a series of game frames.
    (each column/row had its own buffer into which the pre-rendering was done)
    On average 2-4 times as many edge cells had to be rendered than needed, but, because the camera moved slowly, this could be distributed over approx. 10 game frames.
    By distributing the rendering of the edge cells over a number of game frames, I hoped to remove the jerk experienced as the camera crossed a cell boundary.
    The system worked... ish... but I never finished it :(
    basically, these were crazy optimisations that were only necessary because I was developing for mobile phones.
    On mobile phones the speed of rendering is relative to the number of draw calls, NOT the actual area of the screen being repainted.
    e.g.
    fillRect(0,0,50,50)
    fillRect(0,50,50,50)
    will take almost twice as long as
    fillRect(0,0,100,100)
    even though you are only painting 1/2 the area.
