Best way to vectorize an b&w image?

which do you think is the best way to vectorize a black and white image? (not grayscale, just two colors).
Because I've tryed a lot of different ways to do it but nothing gives me the results I want. I am sure there should be another way than manualy tracing it because its just black and white.
I want to get the exact same look but vectorized, I uploaded a picture to show more exactly what I'm trying to do.

As jhovan said; try Live Trace. Play with the modes and options. Even starting with the admittedly low-res jpeg you posted, it doesn't do too bad of a job (see below). The higher the resolution of your starting art, the better the result.

    if you have the att device, then use your att locker.
    ANYONE can sign up for the att locker here:
    https://locker.att.net/app/#welcome
    even if you do not have ATT service, you should sign up NOW.
    There is an application that is pre-installed to allow for the 1020 to upload the full resolution files to the AT&T locker.
    AND, because they are launching the 1020, they are giving a free upgrade to the account to the 50GB box instead of the 5GB.
    they are doing this for a limited time only, I have created a couple of accounts.
    after you create your account, it will have to be verified. after you check your email and verify the box, log back in and you will see it is only a 5gb account.
    click on "my Account/upgrade" and choose the 50GB and you should see it say FREE under the cost.
    then you can upload the full res pictures and share them that way.
    otherwise, if you are within reach, try Bluetooth transfer.

  • What is the best way to add text to an image

    I used the draw ap div to add text to an image.  will that cause any problems?  If so, what is the best way to add text to an image?  Thanks!

    APDivs will kill your design unless you fully understand the css behind the scenes and plan accordingly. They really are completely unnecessary in the vast majority of situations.
    An easy way to add "web text over an image" would be to use the background-image attribute in css for a standard <div> tag, then just add the text within that same <div>.
    Something like this in the css (if you are using a 300x300 pixel image)...
    #yourdiv {
         background-image:url(yourpic.jpg);
         width:300px;
         height:300px;
    And then this in the html...
    <div id="yourdiv">Your text here</div>
    You would then position the <div> using css margins, floats and padding. Using position:absolute (APDivs) is typically something that will blow your design to pieces if the viewer changes their browser settings.

  • Best way to store a lot of image files??

    I am working on a new project which involve user upload image to server and then do searching and view image. there will be a lot of image files. image will be displayed in web page as thumbnails, so there may be resized pic stored in server or resize on the fly.
    What is the best way to store image like this? as files in file system? database? etc...?
    Thank you very much

    Since seraching is invloved use a database. A file system is not good place to search in.
    Using a database will allow you to store additional data as well such as comments about the images or the ratings given by the users.
    Of course you will have to develop a propper table structure for this.
    Also do not generate thumbnails all the time instead cache them once they are created. Atleast the thumbnails of the images that are displayed often.
    Also store the last updted dates with the images so you can loow the images to be cached by the clients or the proxy server. That will reduce repatitive requests for the same image from same client.

  • Best way to store lots of tile images

    Hey, In my game I'm gonna need to store probably thousands of tile images. They are all in .png format, and I am wondering the best way to store the image data. I could of course keep them in some folder called images, and then have thousands of files...but then people could jack them, and plus that would be inneficient use of space??? right?
    What is the best way to store them??
    thanks

    Anything can be "jacked". The other possible ways are storing them in some sort of archived file like a JAR or ZIP or GZIP. The only way to even remotely ensure no one will "jack" your images would be to store them in a compressed format which you created. Which would entail creating your own compression algorithms. Have Fun! :)
    Seriously though, I wouldn't worry too much about the images and people "jacking" them. As far as inneficient use of space, I personally wouldn't worry about this either unless your app will be delivered via WebStart or Applet. Then load time could be an issue. You could use lazy downloading though and download the images when they are needed.

  • What is the BEST way to do a dynamically loading image slideshow?

    It will be the best $20 you ever spent. It displays images
    based on an
    XML file, which you can generate dynamically with PHP. All
    you'd need to
    do then would be to upload a new image and it could
    automatically be
    added to the show.

  • What's The Best Way to Assign Keywords to Multiple Images?

    I'm finally starting to organize my photos with keywords, but something about the way it works in LR2 is driving me batty.
    I came back from a concert Saturday night with over 1,000 photos (double coverage by me and my wife).  I'm trying to use keywords to designate the 14 different performers who appeared on the stage at different times during the evening, when there could be anywhere from 1 to 7 performers on the stage at the same time.
    Now, it seems to me the easiest way to assign these keywords would be:
    1) select a series of photos in which one or more performers appear
    2) in either the "keyword suggestions" or "keyword set" panel, click on the keyword "buttons" I've already created from the performers names.
    But this doesn't always work.  I note that when I highlight a number of photos, ONE is more brightly highlighted than the others, and sometimes, that's the ONLY one that gets the keywords I just clicked on. Apparently, that one image is more "selected" than the others in the series I've highlighted.
    It would not be quite so infuriating if that approach didn't work at all, but the oddity seems to be that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and I don't know what I'm doing different when it does or doesn't work.
    What does work universally is to to the "Keyword List" panel and type in the name I need, and then right click when the name comes up and select "add keyword to selected photos."  That seems to work every time.
    Or, I can type "Click here to add keywords," type in the name I need, and hit return twice.  That assigns the keyword to all the selected images.  But then I have to do it again for every performer that appears in that series of frames.
    Like I say, the easiest scenario would be the 1-2 step I outlined above, but I cant seem to get that to work all the time.
    Anybody know the trick to getting that 1-2 scenario to work every time?
    Thanks,
    --PS

    Oh, wow.  I have exactly the same problem of LR not assigning keywords to all my selected images.
    I will try the grid, select the grid and not the filmstrip, and look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.
    BTW, Adobe told me to delete the preferences file, which I did.
    They told me to optomize the catalog, which I did.
    And, lastly they told me to create a new catalog and import all the data from my old catalog, which I did not do.
    Stand by ...
    Wow, that is it.  You folks solved my problem.
    Library Mode, select in the grid OR filmstrip (yep-but harder to see in the filmstrip anyway),
    COULD NOT FIND-look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.

  • Best way to insert a table into image with high resolution for web?

    I've tried inserting a table from Excel into Photoshop and making a jpeg and gif out of it, but when I upload it to the web the resolution is terrible.
    Any ideas on how I can make get a table into an image? It's a bit too complex to create with HTML.

    Well, you are leaving out a lot of info.
    a: how are you saving it in Photoshop? What file type/compression amount, etc.
    b: how are you uplaoding it - where are you uploading it - are you uploading JUST the image, or are you uploading the image within an .html document?
    One thought, if you are JUST uploading it as an image, then trying to view it in a browser, if the image is larger than the viewport of the browser, some browsers will automatically rezie the image to fit visually into the viewport. More than likely, this resizing could be causing image distortion. Imagine it like when you zoom in/out in Photoshop - (unless you are using the accelerated graphic gui option in PS preferences), any zoom level outside of 25%, 50%, or 100% will cause visual distortion.
    Give a link to where you have uploaded the image (or whatever you are talking about). Like I said, there are other things to consider as to why this is happening.

  • Best Way to get part of a image

    Hi , i´m trying to achieve a behaviour with bitmaps but a little bit confused.
    Objective:
    (As shown in image attached)
    I have a Movieclip with a static Shape on Stage ( Let´s say ... a star)
    I would like to load a image(img1) , then i would be able to, rotate, zoom , and pan the image(img1).
    Then i would have only the star but filled with the part of the image that fitted that star.
    I was trying to  get bitmapData from the image, then draw the star on the image.... And at end, compare color pixels and only getting the ones i want to.... but i get a big mess with the rotations, scale and position of star to be exactly on the place it should be draw...
    Something tell´s me that i´m missing a point and it should be easier...
    Can anyone give me directions ?
    It´s a kind of masking, but i want to save that image only then...
    Thanks in advance!

    I would:
    1) Move and translate your image clip
    2) Set the star as the mask
    3) Once the mask is applied, use BitmapData.draw to draw the masked image to a new bitmap data
    4) TADA!
    As far as I am aware, 'draw' should respect masks? If it doesn't then you may need to put clip+mask inside another DisplayObject and draw that.  Some psuedo code (not tested, and simplified):
    // Parent object
    var canvas : Sprite = new Sprite();
    canvas.addChild( clip );
    canvas.addChild( star );
    // Manipulate your image
    clip.rotation = 35;
    clip.scaleX = clip.scaleY = 1.2;
    // Set mask and position it
    clip.mask = star;
    star.x = 40;
    star.y = 20;
    // Create a bitmap data and draw to it
    bitmapData = new BitmapData( Math.ceil(canvas.width), Math.ceil(canvas.height), true, 0x00000000 );
    bitmapData.draw( canvas, ...... );
    // You may need to use canvas.getBounds and create a matrix to get 'canvas' positioned correctly on the bitmapData
    Hope it helps,
    Peter

  • Best way to save mutliple frame grayscale images

    I am capturing data at 30 fps using an NI frame grabber. The images are all grayscale (monochrome camera). I've been testing saving them as AVIs, but it keeps converting them to RGB color images which I then have to cast back to 8 bit. Also, these files are HUGE (>1 GB for 30 sec) and not feasible at this size especially with the associated speed (or lack thereof) in accessing the frames.
    What better options are there for storing my data? The application is being upgraded from a Mac which stored them as stacked tiffs.

    All you should need to do is replace the old style image controls with the LV 7 version. Just use the error dialog to see which ones need to be replaced. Once you have replaced them all, everything should work fine.
    Technically, this format could be read outside of LabVIEW, but it would take a little work. Each JPEG string is equivalent to a complete JPEG file (just as if you read the JPEG file as a string). You could easily write the strings to a file in a format that could be read by another program, such as each string length followed by the string. The difficulty would be decoding the string. You either need a JPEG string decoder, or you would have to write the string to a file and read it as a JPEG image. Another method would be
    to just save each string in a separate JPEG file from LabVIEW.

  • What is the best way to put padding on an image

    I know there is a long winded solution to padding out an image. For example i want to increase the size of an image without rescaling it but by just adding a certain number of pixels in width and hieght and make the color of those pixels white. does anyone know of a good method to do this.

    Short-winded solution: Create a new BufferedImage of the correct size and obtain its graphics context (createGraphics), fill with the desired color (g.fillRect), and then draw the original on top of it (g.drawImage).

  • Best Way to Select Complicated Parts of Image?

    I'm trying to design a cover for a book and usually do the whole thing in Photoshop, which I know very well. I rarely use Illustrator and made the mistake of purchasing a graphic ornament I thought would be easy to alter, but has turned out to be quite complex, or at least complex for me. All I want is to move the inner loops on the ornament toward the frame (make them smaller so that I'll have more room for the title, and to shorten the bottom loop so it doesn't hang down so far into the rest of the cover. Being an illustrator novice, I thought this would be a simple adjustment (i.e. direct select and tap the arrow keys a few times), but this graphic is made of dozens, maybe more than a hundred, parts grouped and regrouped on two layers. Nothing is labeled and even figuring out what part to select and how to select it is really confusing. Sorry, this is probably a seriously stupid question, but is there any way to simplify an illustration so that I can more easily select the parts I'm interested in adjusting? I should probably just go purchase a different ornament, but really like the look of this one. Thank you!

    Thank you. I worked with it last night for hours, and tried something similar, but kept messing it up. I don't think the designer intended for it to be edited that much. For instance, just to change the colors would have taken forever, since all the pieces are slightly different. I gave up and bought another one that was simple and editable.
