Best way to view DVI ADPCM format in FCP

i need to import footage taken from a mini portable camera and the format is in AVI ( DVI ADPCM ). Obviously the Mac quicktime does not recognize it....Any idea ??? Thanks

Get the camera, dub the material to a more universally available codec such as DV. You could also play the tape/disk directly out of the camera to another conventional DV device and capture from Firewire.
Try searching at versiontracker or macupdate.com to see if there are any conversion utilities available. I don't think there are but I haven't looked recently.
Also try looking carefully around the mfr's Web site for the user group forum. There will be hundreds of similar posts from surprised owners of the cameras who have discovered to their horror they cannot use them with their cool Macintosh computers.

  • Best way to view footage.

    Hi Everyone,
If someone has Standard Definition PAL DV captured using a PAL easy setup, what is the best way to view it.
It's FCP 6.0.5 running on a 24' iMac. Not sure of the processor but it's top spec.
I have to ask because I get a bit confused with the whole 'what your watching it on' thing. This footage in particular will only be viewed on a computer or an LCD tv which, as far as I knew, are both non-square pixels. But purely for viewing/editing on the computer, is the native resolution the best it's going to get?
    Thanks,
    Double Ohh

best is to view your footage while working is on an external broadcast monitor, but if you don't have that - connecting a TV through a camera is better than just working off your computer monitor.
    computer monitors are square pixels.
for viewing on a computer native is as good as it gets (quicktime will compensate for the pixel aspect ratio)
Viewing on a DVD is mpeg2, not PAL DV - you converted it during the dvd making process - either with compressor, dvdsp or idvd (etc.).

  • Best way to view and edit OpenOffice files on my new iPad Mini (originally Word and Excel files). Thanks!

Can someone tell me the best way to view and edit OpenOffice files on my new iPad Mini (originally Word and Excel files)? Thanks!

wmf files is a MS Windows video file, you will need a tool to covert the wmf files to another file format OS X will read. Simply Google to find a converter you are interested in and use it.

  • Best way to view a panorama

I was wondering what is the best way to view a panorama on the iPad?
The panoramas are NOT 360 degree. It is created by a digital camera, one of those which has this newer built-in sweep panorama mode, where you hold the camera and turn, and it snaps photos and stitches them together for you in the camer itself. And of course you can hold the camera in portrait or landscape mode and you will get a panorama with different dimensions this way.
So I import one of these panoramas into the default Photos app (after scaling it down in PS because obviously I don't need to see a 5000 something pixel wide pano on the iPad).
Anyhow. I think the iPad's Photos app displays panoramas in a rather stupid way. First, it just shrinks the pano so it fits the whole display. Then, if I double click it, it zooms into the panorama like 3 times or so, completely blowing up the pixels.
The only way I find is to zoom into the pano with two fingers, and then I can pan the photo left/right. I think this is rather lame way of doing it and was wondering if anyone has a better way to tackle this issue.
I am NOT interested in purchasing programs for the iPad that creates/stitches panoramas together for me. I want to create the panos with my digital camera, edit them and then import it to the iPad, which results just a simple photo, albeit much longer width then height. I'm just looking for a better way of looking at them on the iPad other then that mediocre default Photos app.
    Thanks!

Here's a free viewer that can be used for panos on ipads even though it's a product viewer ... you would need the beta one that actually works on ipads with zoom support http://www.webrotate360.com/360-product-viewer.html

  • Best ways to view data, total records of an application table ie VBAK

    Hi all,
What is the best way to view data of an application table in the source system?
I know about SE16....but are there other ways to know details ie the total no of records and different field information about a
application table ie VBAK in source R3?
Also, using SE16 when i checked for VBAK and clicked on the "number of enteries" then it showed 0...however
when i directly checked from the sqlplus then i found about 5000 records in there in VBAK. I am not sure why
via SE16 it showed 0. Does anybody have any idea what i missed here?
Thanks...will give points for ur input.
    ak

I tried "number of enteried" on se16 and it shows 0 enteries without any selection criterion...i cheked by putting relevant time range as well but it shows 0...
As i told that when i checked VBAK separately via logging to database directly then i did find 5678 rows there.
Please note that this is a new demo version....so i thought that i first need to activate the table which i did using tcode SE11. Now the VBAK table is active but still via SE16 shows 0 nuber of enteris....
    Can anybody please advise here..
    Thx

  • Best way to view Text files from Mac on iPhone 4?

What is the Best way to view Text files (loaded) from my Mac onto my iPhone 4?
Will any of the "readers" (e.g. Kindle, Kobo) allow me to put my own text files onto my iPhone and read them easily?
    Thanks

I actually purchased GoodReader because it is easy to transfer files without iTunes.  I dislike the file sharing through iTunes.   You can use a Mac or PC.  Once I was in the app I clicked the "Wi-Fi" symbol which brings me to "WiFi-transfer."  It will show this --
    "WiFi status: ON
Use one of the following addresses exactly as you see them
    1. IP-address: http://192.168.0.98:8080 <-- Local LAN address the iPhone is broadcasting on.
    2. Bonjour-address http://Myname-iPhone.local:8080"
All you have to do is type one of those addresses into your browser. (Safari, etc.)
It will take you to a page that has iPhone Connection and a list of options.  You can either create a new directory within the application or use an existing one to upload a text file.  It's rather simple, you just select "Choose a file to upload" > Select your file > Press upload > Start the app and see your text/pdf/whatever file.
You can also connect to a server to download a text file, browse the web, or enter a url.  I see it also has an ICloud folder which I'm not sure if it integrates with Apple's iCloud or not, I think it does.  I'm not affliated with the app and I'm not saying you have to buy it, I'm just a happy user.
If you don't want to buy this app let me know I'll keep looking for a free or cheaper one for you if you want.

  • Best way- p7-1380t dvi to hdmi connections to a monitor HP w2207h

Have 2 DVI outputs from computer - current hookup using DVI to VGA. Want to hook up DVI to HDMI. Are there any advantages? and, best way to do it?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    GDicker, welcome to the forum.
Here is an explanation of both connection types:
    DVI to HDMI
DVI is a digital signal in the same format as the video portion of HDMI. The difference is that DVI doesn't carry the audio signal like HDMI does. This means that if you are only using the video signal you can use a simple DVI to HDMI plug adapter that changes the physical connections. If you want to go from a DVI source with audio, you'll need an active converter to combine the video signal from the DVI source and the audio into the HDMI signal.
As you can see, DVI is a digital video signal and HDMII is a digital video and audio connection.  Simply using a DVI to HDMI adapter is only going to give you digital video.  Therefore, the advantage of the DVI to HDMI will be to give you a digital signal.  VGA is an analog connection.

  • Best ways to view/display PDF/Excel files stored in the Database

What are best ways to display/view PDF/Excel files stored in the Database? thanks L

Thanks tom, sorry let me explain. Currently we have oracle forms screen, using webutil to store/view files into DB. client won't like the interface, they want us to make it more friendly, drag and drop if possible, load multiple files, as possible.. So I am exploring different ways to improve may be java (or jdev/any any other), different screen designs, different features for fileupload/download/view options.

  • Best way to view PDF page(s) with in a custom program

What is the best approach for viewing PDF page(s) in a custom program?  I know you can hook in Adobe PDF Viewer, but I need access to mouse clicks and location on the page.  As well, I need to control the scale and zooming of the PDF page(s).
I'm not looking to change the PDF file, but rather draw over top of the page(s).
Thanks for any help or pointing me in the right direction,
    Shayne

Actually, Ive already implemented an interface after throughly reading all the Acrobat documentation on Javascript within the PDFs. Its functional but not spectacular. It simply uses the setField function to get and set the values to the Field objects. It do this by posting messages to and from the web page that is hosting the PDF object.
I was wondering if there is a better way. It needs to stay a thin-client interface - nothing besides PDF Reader loaded on the workstations. I am currently investigating the several other methods but was hoping for some guidance.

  • Best way to view iPhone sms and imessage messages from backup

Hello I have sms and imessage messages that I would like to export from my phone or computer to be viewed on another device.  I know there is a way to view texts through third party software and I was wondering if there is one that is  particularly good at it or if there was a native way to do it?  Any help would be much appreciated as these texts will be used as evidence in a court case so some kind a log format with timestamps would be ideal.

  • Best way to view ipad iWork help offline?

I noticed that if I have my 3G turned off or dont have signal, I cant view the help items from the wrench menu because it goes to a web site, not local in the apps. I understand this, it keeps the help files updated easily.
But... I was trying to find a way to view the help files offline. I can find two answers right now and am wondering if anyone else has a better solution...
both involve visiting the help website while connected to internet first, olf course.
Method 1 starts on a desktop computer:
    visit http://help.apple.com/iwork/1.3/safari/index.html#button-0 in safari
and click the button to print in the upper right hand side
    print to PDF
send to ibooks on your ipad
    Method 2 from the iPad:
Visit the help file from any of the iWork apps
Once fully loaded... "add to Home screen", add.
This can be visited while offline, you get a notice that it cannot connect to the internet, but it will (mostly) load.
Method 1 preserves everything (I think), Method 2 saves the whole help site to a link, but doesnt save graphics.
    Any better methods?

  • Map View, Best way to view only desired locations?

I have large areas peppered with dozens of thumbtack locations, and would like a quick way to view only photos whose thumbtacks are shown in the current map view, without creating a new Smart Album to do so.
iPhoto has this ability, and hoping someone here knows a work-around in Aperture.
It would be nice if manually selecting multiple thumbtacks worked, but only one at a time seems possible.

What do you mean by "view only photos"? The only way I know to restrict the Images shown in the Browser is to use a filter.
In all views including Places view the Browser shows the contents of the currently selected container with the current filter applied.  You can apply filters based on the Rule "Place" by selecting from the tiles at the top of the map view.  You cannot select more than one item at a time, but you can manually add additional "Place" rules to the filter.
You can also apply filters by clicking the small blue-circled arrow that shows when you hover your cursor on the pin label that pops up when you hover over, or select, a pin.  This works with only one pin at a time, however.
You should be able to select all Images associated with each pin you click by pressing and holding the Command key while clicking pins one after the other.  You could then create a new Album which will show just those selected Images.
I know of no way to create a filter from multiple selected pins.
Léonie's method of zooming out to create new pins will allow you to create a filter based on the newly created pin.  Note that the pins change dynamically with the zoom level of the map.  But you are still limited to one pin per filter unless you manually add "Place" Rules.
Message was edited by: Kirby Krieger — reworded for clarity.
It would be nice if clicking the "small blue-circled arrow" would react to multiple selected Location Pins, rather than just one!
By "view only photos," I was hoping there is a similar function to iPhoto, in that the current map view, and the Pins shown within that view, can be used to quickly "find" images.
Aperture does have this functionality, but only through creating a new Smart Album.  This is located in the "Gear" icon, bottom left in Places view.
leonieDF, Perhaps the "Hide Place badges" option would help?

  • What is the best way to view Batman and Love Boat to see their transitions?

David Brewer, you mentioned Batman and Love Boat as providing bad examples of transitions, IYHO. How do you think I could most easily see them in this year? Netflix?
Other viewers - shy off from responding to this. This is for David Brewer.
    LM

oh, i cannot not respond to this one.
"batman", the tv series? still, in my mind, one of the best produced shows ever. the "pow" cartoon box transitions were awesome! in many ways, i felt "sin city" drew a lot from the batman series. i have a batman movie in my dvd collection. i'm sure you can find dvds of the series. "google" springs to mind.
"the love boat" on the other hand, well, i have no idea where you'd find it and it's probably good that it's not resurrected.
