Best way to watch Netflix? Ipad 3 or direct connect to Panny ready blu-ray?

I am researching the best way to stream Netflix?  Here is what I have;
Brand new iPad 3
Pioneer VSX-1120 which has both HDMI inputs and a iPad USB/rca input.
Panasonic DMP-BDT1-- Blu-Ray with Netflix ready, (has ability to connect to Internet via Ethernet or wirless adapter)
Panasonic TC-P58VT25 full 3d HDTV with HDMI and Ethernet inputs.
Westell 7500 wireless router
What are your suggestions?
Download Netflix on iPad and connect to Pioneer receiver  This would stream wireless from the router to iPad  Then wired from iPad to receiver???
Just connect the Blu-Ray player or TV to the Router with Ethernet?  No wireless involved.
Help...???

I would go Ethernet (assuming it is not a problem running the cable), and allow your Blu-Ray player do the work.  That way your WiFi bandwidth for in hone computer-to-computer Data transfers is not affected, and any such in home transfers do not affect your Netflix viewing.  Also if you have any WiFi interference it will not affect your Netflix viewing.
This would leave your iPad free to play with during the movie :-)
I would use the iPad to browse and select Netflix movies putting them in your "Instant Queue", so you can easily start watching form the Blu-Ray player.  Chances are the Blu-Ray player's user interface is not very user friendly :-)
You can still download Netflix to your iPad, and watch movies directly on your iPad when you do not want to sit in front of your TV (such as when you are away from home, or someone else is using the TV).
This is more or less the setup I use, only I have an internet capable TV with Netflex built in. I had the option of Ethernet or WiFi, and went Ethernet, for all the reasons above, especally since browsing Netflix via the TV interface is a pain, but selecting a movie already in my Netflix Instant Queue was easy. And I still watch a movie on my iOS device, if that is more convent.
If the Blu-Ray Netflx experence is not as good as using the iPad, or if there is extra expensive equipment to buy, or getting Ethernet to the TV location is a problem, them adjust your setup accordingly.

  • Best way instant watch Netflix movies?

Since I've added Windows to my MacBook Pro, I can now watch instantly many movies and TV shows though my Netflix subscription on my computer. I'm amazed at the quality of the movies and the uninterrupted streaming through my DSL connection. Next step is to try to watch the movies on a bigger screen. I've looked at Apple Cinema display (kind of pricey and space consuming). Ideally I'd like to connect it to one of my TV sets. The best location would be in the adjoining room. The TV only takes S-video, so I guess I'll need a DVI to S-video adapter and a long S to S cable - is such a cable available? Also thinking about getting an HD TV? Anyone knows what connection I'll need for that? MacBook Pro came with a DVI to VGA adapter.

You can certainly have long S-video to S-video cable of 10m or so (or link some smaller ones). Signal will deteriorate the longer your lead but I've run 10m from DVD to projectors and been happy with the results.
    There's a DVI to S-video Apple adapter as I'm sure you've seen.
The one problem with using a Mac to connect to an HDTV is that depending on the TV there could be issues with overscan where one or more edges are shifted to some degree and also potentially with aspect ratio making the movie look distorted. I have a widescreen plasma that accepts HD inputs but doesn't have a full 1920x1080 panel - it's 1024x768 which makes the pixels rectangular and distorts the image.
I've only briefly tried connecting my Macbook to the set and got fed up as I couldn't easily tweak the image position etc (display shifted up and to the right slightly losing a bit of the top menu bar and a green line at the bottom), though it probably wouldn't matter for films.
Found this on the MacMini forum which is used for tweaking display output though I've not tried it:
    http://www.3dexpress.de/#HDTV
The beauty of the AppleTV device (this forum's content not TV per se) is the HDMI output that just works with HDTVs to give brilliant output. Shame it doesn't do NETFLIX!

Before you go, move the files to I tunes and sync them down.  There is no viable way to stream from your nas drive to the pad.

  • What's the best way to use your iPad instead of textbooks?

What's the best way to use your iPad instead of textbooks? I'm about to start a BSN program and have heard of using your iPad for textbooks instead of buying and carrying around 8 different books. Is there an app for that? Or do you buy or rent the books? What's the best solution?

Or, if you're like me and you want to do a lot of heavy reading, use the iPad because the low contrast on a Kindle is extremely fatiguing.
Seriously, though "screen glare will cause eye strain" is often taken as an article of faith, there's not a lot of good scientific evidence for it. "Eye strain" can be caused by concentrating on any close work for long periods of time. Looking up and focusing on something distant periodically is very helpful. Older CRT screens that flicker also can be aggravting. I'm not denying that some people find reading backlit screens uncomfortable. However, it's not dangerous. And, then, there are other people who find the higher contrast a backlit screen affords to be much less wearying over long periods of time.

  • The Best Way to make your iPad battery last the longest!

After checking many sources and also discussions here -- this is one article that pretty much sums up the best way to make your iPad battery last the longest!
It basically comes down to JUST ONE THING (mainly) -- and that is simply REDUCING YOUR CHARGE CYCLE COUNT! And how do you do that? Well, very simply KEEP IT PLUGGED IN as much as possible. And then, doing what Apple says by doing just one full discharge - once a month.
There are about 1000 charge cycles available for the iPad, at which point you should have 80% of the battery life left. SO ... Anything you do to slow down getting to that 1000 charge cycles, makes your iPad battery last longer. Keeping it plugged in "all the time" (or, as much as possible - since it is a portable object) slows down the process of getting to that "lessening of battery capacity". It's simply all about "charge cycles" - which then translates into "reduced battery capacity".

This is a common mistake and I highly advise against it.
1: TimeMachine saves states of changes and thus requires more room on the TM drive than the boot drive it's backing up.
2: Something happens to the TM drive, loss, theft, dropped, power surge, etc., you lose both backups.
3: The storage drive might become a portable need, with it being on the TM drive, now your increasing the risk to the TM backup that something could happen to it along with the storage drive, due to increased movement.

  • Best way to watch flash videos??

Hey so I really would like to watch flash videos for either movies or clips, what is the best way/app to watch flash videos whether the app is free or not it doesnt matter.
could someone tell me the most effective app and has experience with it? Thanks!

Search the app store. There are several alternate browsers that advertise the ability to play Flash content. However many people report very mixed results since the way these browsers work is to send the Flash content to a server to be converted to iOS format and then sent back to the browser. The bottom line is that Flash has never been supported on iOS so take that into consideration.
Most of the big web sites have long since supported iOS for video. I watch video clips, YouTube, etc. all the time on my iPad and don't really run into many sites that won't work. I'm sure there are and the best course of action is to encourage those sites to get with the plan and support mobile platforms like iOS and Android.

  • Best Way to Buy an iPad Gift for Somebody in Foreign Country (UK)

    Hi there,
I'm in Canada and want to buy an iPad for somebody in London, England.
What's the best way to do that?
I went to the Apple UK website, put the iPad in my shopping cart, and went to check out. Then I found out they have a security setting that won't let you buy anything unless you're from the UK/Europe/USA.
Do I have to buy one from an Apple Canada store online and mail it? If so are there any configuration differences for the UK that would prevent it from working even if I got it working here?
I'd prefer to buy it from the UK where they have free shipping direct and guaranteed compatibility. I haven't found any UK stores besides the Apple site that sell them.

Thanks. I was concerned about ordering from a potentially "difficult" UK firm. I once got a laptop from a US company and dealing with it was a lost cause.
I was wondering about ordering from the Regent Street Apple Store in London, which isn't far from the intended recipient.
But my credit card company might not let it go through even if the store accepts it, because of security restrictions.
To the person who suggested buying here and sending there, are there no compatibility issues?

  • How is the best way to sinc my iPad 2 to my MacBook pro

I have a new MacBook pro. I have transferred my iTunes library to the MB. I would like to sync my iPad 2 to the MB. What is the best way to do this? The MB iTunes library has 2200 songs while the iPad has 1300.
    Thanks

If you start iTunes, then under the iTunes on the menu bar, Preferences, then Devices check the box for prevent iDevices from automatically syncing.  That will keep the iPad from syncing the entire music library, and you can check the music you want it to sync.

  • Best way to set up iPad mini for child?

So I bought my 3yr old an iPad Mini since he already knows how to fully operate most things on my iPhone! Now when I go to set it up, I don't want my music and apps and other content popping up on his iPad. Now can I create an Apple ID for him but set it up to where I can still have control over it? The guy in the store suggested I set it up using iCloud Family Sharing. When I got home and looked more into the family sharing option, I am not sure that is what I want either. That sounds like everybody in your family would have access to everything on the main device correct or am I wrong?
So this is what I want. I want to be the one who can purchase apps or download free apps by typing in his Apple ID info (if possible). I want him to have his own favorite songs via iTunes. The only thing I would want to share is probably a Family photo album in iCloud.
So what is the best way of setting this device up?
Before he mentioned the iCloud Family Sharing option, the guy in the store suggested I leave the iCloud info blank when it asked for it but set up the iPad Mini as if it was my device. I think that just confused me even more.
If I chose the Family Sharing option, can I select exactly what gets shared or no? If yes? Can apps be shared?
Lastly if I set him up with his own Apple ID, and he wants a new song or some music or download a movie etc. will he need his own iTunes Library?
    Thanks for your help!

I think that, if you read through these forums and familiarize yourself with the number of problems allowing children the ability to exercise and maintain control of an iDevice, and to purchase and download content, you'll change your mind.
