Best way to wireless print from ipad (without wifi)?

I work with kids in various settings and would like to print from the ipad when I have no wifi available. What is my best option?

You do not need a connection to the internet but a WiFi connection is necessary and many of the AirPrint printers create an ad hoc network.

With iPhoto or with the Image Capture application.

  • Is there any way to print from iPad without having wireless network?

My mom is getting an iPad 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G to be able to surf the internet easily since the only service available to her at her house is dial-up. She would like to be able to print from her iPad. It seems from my research that all the printers require connection to a wi-fi network to use airprint. Does anyone know of an easy way for her to print? Also, she doesn't have a computer available to her right now as it recently died. Does anyone know of a solution?

Well, without a wireless network she can't surf the 'net!
Yes, printers require connection to a WiFi network AND they must be AirPrint compliant.

  • How does Wireless printing from ipad work?

How can I print wirelessly from ipad? I have a wireless printer but the ipad does not pick it up.

What printer model do you have?
It has to support AirPrint http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Alternatively, there are apps for that, e.g., http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printcentral/id366020849?mt=8

  • What is the best way to import pictures from iPhoto without compression?

I'm trying to create a slide show using Final Cut Pro. No, I'm not interested in using iDVD slide show function because it doesn't allow me to do a whole lot. I would like to add titles and music for certain segments with video inserted here and there.
Anyway, when I used the slide show function in iPhoto, exported it out as a quick movie file, and then imported it into Final Cut Pro, I noticed a significant downgrade in quality of images. It obviously looks different from when I play the slide show in iPhoto. What would be the best way to import pictures into Final Cut Pro without any compression?
    Thanks in advance.

I only see Share > Export.
Some versions of iPhoto work that way -it's just Apple moving things around.
what's the difference between exporting it from iPhoto then import it into FCP vs. just importing directly from FCP?
Your first post mentioned exporting a slide show from iPhoto -I assumed that is where your images are stored.
I do not want to import pictures one by one...
You don't have to. iPhoto will let you select as many as you want, or if the images are elsewhere, you can also select multiple files from FCP's Import dialog.
    ...and stick them together manually.
Editing is an art and involves some effort on your part. It is not an automated process. This method opens up far more possibilities, access to filters and color correction and the opportunity to use Motion for even more sophisticated animation.
But, it only allows me to export it as 720 x 480. The original size of my photos is 3872 x 2592. Is there any way I can create a quicktime file in the original size?
You should be aware that 3872 x 2592 is not a standard pixel aspect ratio that is used in video. The images will be resized to the Sequence settings that you set up in Final Cut Pro.
I have never used iPhoto to make a slideshow before, but I just gave it a try and was able to export one with the images in their native size, simply by typing the pixel dimensions into the boxes in the dialog window:
I don't have PhotoMagico myself, but it comes highly recommended by several of the forum regulars.

    Hi,
Are you able to make copy.
Try downloading HP Print and Scan Dr utility from link below.

  • How difficult can you make it! wanted to print from ipad to wifi photosmart c6180.

I have an iPad3 and Photosmart C6180 WiFi in my network.
Installed HP Home&biz. Why does connecting/finding to the printer so long?
While it took so long I bought 3 (NOT HP) apps to get it working....
One of those, PrinterShare find my printer directly after start. So is is possible....
Is HP planning the option to print from the browser to?
Finding information is a lot of work. I am not the first going to a forum while it does not work, and than find out during my search that suddenly the printer is found.

    Hello hmroep,
Your c6180 was not made to work with any of the HP web services.  That is why the Home & Biz app will not work.  The app that you did get to work was desigined by a third party, and is not supported by HP.  To the best of my knowledge, HP has not plans to upgrade older printers to have web services capabilities.  The companies that have released apps that allow you to use non-ePrint printers to print from mobile devices, can tell you more about how those apps work.

  • Fastest way to wirelessly print from wired printer?

Hi all, I have an old laser printer (Hp Laserjet 1320n) that I have ressurected, and I wish to connect it to my wireless network (airport extreme 5th gen). It has a usb 2.0 port and an ethernet port. I am wondering which printing method would be faster. Should I connect it by usb to the usb port on the extreme? Or, should I connect it to the extreme by a Cat5e cable? Which one would be faster?

Just set it up today, thanks for reply. After a little digging through hp's site, but I found the manual and set it up. The thing that prevented it from working correctly was that it was still trying to connect to my old office's wired network which no longer exists. After reseting the network card everything is working now and seems more reliable than with usb .
    Thank you both,

  • How to print from iPad without AirPrint printer

I attempted to download 'handy print' to my iPad2 but received the message, "Safari unable to download." I simply need to send info to a printer which is not AirPrint compatible.

    marc.garcia wrote:
... Can you confirm that a Mac running printopia can announce non-Airprint compatible Printers Airprint-disguised across the network while it is asleep?
Wake on Demand is not related to Printopia in the strictest sense, and it is not as if the Mac announces the presence of its non-AirPrint printers as much as it announces the presence of itself and its available services, which would include Printer Sharing.
    From Printopia's FAQ:
Q: Does Printopia require my Mac to be on?
A: Since Printopia runs on your Mac to share printers to iOS devices, the Mac must be on and logged in for Printopia to function. You may be able to take advantage of Apple's "Wake on Demand" feature if your Mac and your base station meet certain specific requirements. See Apple's Wake on Demand support page for more details on this.
About Wake on Demand: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3774. Read about how it works to understand its capabilities and limitations. Portable Macs, for example, must be plugged in to a charging source.
I could never get WoD to work reliably on earlier releases of OS X, but the feature has been working reliably since at least Lion. The Mac wakes, the print job is sent, and the Mac goes back to sleep according to the settings in Energy Saver.
Wake on Demand requires AirPort Base Stations, anything else may work but is not guaranteed.
Printopia has a trial version so you don't have to spend $20 just to find out.

  • How to print from iPad via WiFi

    Hi,
My printer is a HP Photosmart C4680 who's usb cable is connected to a small box or hp print server that connects wirelessly to my Linksys router. I tried Airprint but it didn't work because my printer is not in their list.
Then I tried HP iPrint but this doesn't work either because according to their instructions I have a USB printer that should be connected to an apple airport extreme/express.
So do I get this right, either I buy a new printer that is in the list of supported AirPrint printers
or I buy an apple airport extreme/express, get rid of my hp print server box and linksys router and attach my printer's usb cable to the airport extreme?
Another question is, how is apple airport extreme compared to linksys wrt610n? In other words, what will I loose and what will I gain?
    Thanks in advance

AirPort extreme should indeed solve your problem.
If your Windows PC is on more often than not, you may find it more practical to look at a software solution like http://jaxov.com/2010/11/how-to-enable-airprint-service-on-windows/, this works well with me and in your case won't require a network overhaul by using a new router.

  • Should I  be able to use a Lexmark Pro 205 wireless printer from my iPad 1?  My iPad can't find the printer.  Iveinstalled the Lexprint app on iPad and downloaded the Lexmark Listener on desktop computer. Still can't print from iPad.

Should I be able to use a Lexmark Pro 205 wireless 3 in 1 printer with iPad 1?  I have installed the LexPrint app on iPad, downloaded the Lexmark Listener on desktop computer but still can't print from iPad. My iPad cannot find the printer.  But I can print from desktop without USB cable. I upgraded the system on my iPad sometime ago.  Suggestions??

Here is the list of AirPrint printers, and you particular printer is not on it.  So that means you will need to use the Lexmark app, and print through your computer.
There is a Lexmark guy that hangs around these forums who may chime in with a response as well.

  • How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer?

How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer.
....been trying to save document to pc to print.... but cant find a way to do so.....?

Actually you can print to a non wireless printer if you have apps on the iPad and your computer that will do this and as long as you can set up a WiFi network or the iPad and the computer are already on the same network.
I Am running an old OSX version on my iMac at work (Tiger OSX 10.4.11) and I have an app on my iPad called Save2 pdf. I downloaded a helper app on the Mac called WePrint. I do not have WiFi at work, but I create a WiFi network using the Ethernet connection to the Mac that my iPad can also join. As long as I can send the file/text/document to the Save2pdf app, I can print it on my old HP LaserWriter1012 which is not a wireless printer. This uses the Mac as the print server and the WePrint app on the Mac sends the doecument to the printer.
It's not a very elegant solution, and it is a little convoluted, but it does work.
