Best way to work on Calendar for PC

I work/organize my schedules on Calendar and iCal, and sync both data on my iPhone and PowerBook, and I love them to work.
And I told my husband about them when he bought new iPhone(3GS 16gb) a few days ago. We found that iCal is not available for PC users, and found the information that using yahoo, google, outlook, etc. What would be best way to work on Calendar of iPhone for PC users? With free service.
Thanks in advance for help!

For syncing contacts and calendar events direct via the iTunes sync process with Windows, Outlook 2003 or 2007 is required.
Google now supports accessing a Gmail account as an Exchange account via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client. This provides for Push access for received messages, and syncing Google contacts and calendar events over the air.

  • What is the best way to publish my calendar for free?

I want to know if there's an easy way to publish my calendar for free. We have a server at our work, that everybody has access to. Is there an easy way to publish it on that hard drive. Also how is the best way for Microsoft Outlook users to share there calendar for free to iCal users like me?
    Thanks in advance

If the Mac came with Mountain Lion or Lion, press Command, Option and R keys on boot, open Disk Utility, erase the disk and reinstall Lion or Mountain Lion. If it came with Snow Leopard or older, insert the DVD, press C key on boot, go to Utilities > Disk Utility, erase the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard

  • What is the best way to work with Word documents in The InDesign CS4???

I work in Microsoft Word 2007 and all my documents have *.doc format.
What is the best way to work with Word documents in InDesign CS4???
David Blatner says to avoid copying and pasting text from Word instead of placing it (Ctrl+D).
How about pasting RTF or Text Document???
I want to make book's layout in ID CS4 and its main feature is that there is the left page with text and the right - with graphics.
So, as I understand to place the text on each page I must create for example 70 Word documents and place each item on 70 left pages???
It loks like wasting time. I sthere another way of making such layout???  What kind????

It's best to place any text.
You can have all of your text in one file and use auto-flow to add threaded text frames and pages as required (Hold down the Shift key when you click the loaded text cursor), but it's a little non-standard to have the thread only on one side of the spread from the auto-flow perspective, so you'll have to set up properly.
This is one case where a master text frame will work to your advantage. On your master page spread, add a text frame to the left page, but not to the right (or at least not threaded to one on the right -- for some other project you might actually want two independent text threads). Hold the loaded cursor over a frame on the left side of a document page and auto-flow. ID will add new spreads as necessary, but only put the text on the left side.

  • Advice on best way to setup Disaster Recovery for SOA Suite 10.1.3.4

    Hi Everyone,
I need some advice on the best way to setup Disaster Recovery for a SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 install deploying JSF/ADF OC4J applications.
The way we are trying to do it at the moment is manually copy the "applications" and "applications-deployments" folders for the OC4J application on the production server, then compress and ship the files across to the DR application server nightly. (We don't require high availability).
In the event of a disaster we then extract the files and copy to the OC4J instance (pre-created and configured) on the DR server. Unfortunately to date we haven't been able to reliably setup a DR application (seem to mostly get 404 errors etc), even though the OC4J application has its connection pool resolved to the DR database and is showing as "up" in the ASConsole.
My question is, is there a more "native" way to do what we are trying to do. We do not have Enterprise version of SOA Suite or 11g database so any advanced recovery features are not an option. The setup is also stand alone, i.e. we are not using clustering or RAC etc.
Any ideas would be really helpful.
    Thanks,
    Leigh.
PS we are also running the production apps server with Oracle Application server 10g 10.1.2.3.0 as the HTTP apache server (with Forms, Reports and Discoverer deployed) and the SOA Suite 10.1.3 applications use the 10.1.2 HTTP server via the HTTP to AJP bridge. So the 10.1.3 OC4J instance is configured to use AJP on port range 12501 - 12600.

For enterprise solutions, AS Guard would work.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_04/core.1013/b15977/disasrecov.htm#sthref303
However, since advanced recovery options are not available (as you said), then what you are doing should not be too bad.

  • Best Way to Define Employee Numbering For Different Countries

    HI all
I am working on for a project which will be for Multiple countries. But Each country has different Instances. Now the questions is What could be the Best way to Define Employee numbering for all the Regions ? As for as My knowledge goes It would be Number prefixed by Country. Then How we can have Alpha numeric in employee Coding ? We need to have Fast Formula to Ahieve this task.If any body has come across this scenario please share your thoughts .Any thoughts are greatly Appreciated.
    Cheers
    Kumar cs

If you have each country on a different instance and you want employees to retain their employee number on transfer between countries, I believe you have two options:
    i) Use manual numbering. One recent change to the system is that you can update the numbering profile from Auto to Manual and back to Auto again. So you could potentially leverage this manual workaround when a cross BG transfer happens.
ii) Bespoke module to export all emp numbers into a 'central repository', e.g., flat file, that can be accessed by all instances, imported regularly and then referenced by your Fast Formula. You would also need processing to determine when a person is a transfer from another BG or a new hire; probably have to be some control field on flex. Basically, this is a requirement made difficult by the decision to host each legislation on a different instance; I would never recommend clients to go down this route but I guess it's too late in your case.
If cross BG transfers are not common, e.g., less than 5 a week, I would recommend option 1.

  • What is the best way to work with AVCHD 720 24p footage in FCE4.1?

Hi I have a Panasonic HMC-150 and I've been shooting 720 24p footage at 21 mbps transfer rate.
I was wondering what is the best way to work with this material in FCE 4.1? I see that in the easy set up menu they only have the option of 1440X1080i at 50 or 60 fps or 1920X1080i at 50 or 60 fps.
Also in the rates drop down menu there is only 50 or 29.97.
So I was wondering which is the best choice for 720 24p footage and will it look alright in any of them? Also is it possible to customize these settings?
And finally can you work with faster transfer rates (21mbps) in FCE?

Yikes, this is going to be tricky since FCE does not support native 24p editing.
The work around for some of us is that AVCHD material that is 24p is often recorded to disc at 60i using telecine, in which case it can be editing at 29.97 frames per second, and then detelecined afterward for final export at 23.98 fps. The problem is that I think your camera actually records real 24p - not 24p packed into 60i. When you import the material from the camera what does QuickTime report the framerate as?

  • What is the best way to work with mixed media in 1080 timeline?

    Hi there,
    I have a project shot mostly in 1080 24p but a bit of 720 24p and 4x3 30p footage.
What is the best way to work with this mixed media?
    Thanks!

    Hi Shane,
Ok just to recap (thanks for being patient by the way)...I have put some questions in here...feel free to write in caps to respond and we'll put this baby to rest!
    1) I will work in a 1080p FCP sequence, correct?
    2) HD 1080p footage captured as applepro res hq I will leave as is and work with?
    3) HD 720p footage which was captured as applepro res hq. Can I just drop in 1080 timeline and let FCP do its work? Or should i run through compressor, if so what setting shall I submit it too?
    4) I dont have a budget for an external hardware to convert SD to HD...should I capture my SD Beta through Final Cut and just leave and let FCP do its work? Or should I run through compressor? If so what setting shall I submit it too?
    5) For for my master sequence in FCP am I not using an I-Frame format apple pro res if I am using my apple pro res hq 1080 footage as my formatted sequence? I am not sure what you mean by GOP?
    6) I also found some 60p footage 1080p XDCAM compressor shot with the same XDCAM camera. I put in the 1080p 24p timeline but it was pretty choppy...any ideas of this conform?
Thanks very much for all your help it has gone along way,
    Steven
Saying what CODECS you are working with was my question. 1080, 720, 4:3...really says nothing. There are a dozen 1080 codecs, another dozen 720 codecs, and nearly 100 4:3 formats.
Best to capture all the footage to one uniform codec.
Second best is to work with one format and let FCP conform the rest to that...IF and only IF that format is an I-Frame format like ProRes. GOP formats as master sequence formats cause TONS of issues.
What I'd do is work 1080 ProRes, just add the 720p footage (Use Compressor to convert it if you didn't have a lot, but if you had a lot, just add it), but I'd capture all the SD 4:3 footage via a Kona 3 or Matrox MXO2 as 1080 ProRes. Hardware conversion of SD to HD is much better than anything FCP can do. AE might do good as well. But then use Compressor to convert 29.97 footage captured (you can't convert 29.97 to 23.98 when you capture) to get to 23.98.

  • Best way to work on a large project in CS5

    Hello friends,
I've recently started editing a feature length film in APP CS5.  I've never worked on a project this large before (around 160 GB).  Since I've been just doing small projects, it hasn't been an issue to have my source footage on my C: drive.  I sort of forgot the first rule I ever learned: Don't keep your source footage on the same drive as your program.  So, I set up a master project, and then set up a sequence for every individual scene.  The idea was to edit a scene, the drop it on the master time line.  So I actually imported all of my footage and placed it in each corresponding sequence.  Seemed like a good idea at the time.  But then I started trying to edit a scene and my computer laughed at me.  It just couldn't process anything within a project that big.  So I started from scratch.  Moved all my footage to an external drive, deleted it from my C: drive and started over.  Now, I'm just moving a scene's worth of material in at a time.  So far so good, but will I get bogged down again as the project grows?  Even though I'm pulling everything from an external?  And if I probably will, what should I do?  A friend told me that I should export each sequence at a lossless format, such as the animation codec, then bring them back in and place them on a new master timeline.  My concern is that those files are going to be bigger than the original files, so won't that kill my computer, too.  What's the best way to work on such a large project?  I'm running CS5 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro, Intel Core i3, 2.10 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, Windows 7 Pro (64 - bit).  Thanks guys!

It's both AVCHD and DSLR.  Are you saying it's too underpowered to do either of the scenarios I mentioned above, or both?  One way, I will just edit each scene, and export them.  Then, I'll begin with a clean slate, bringing those edited sequences back in and dropping them on a timeline in a new project.  The files will be huge, but I'll only be working with those files.  Nothing else will be in the way.  Then I'll just have to put them in order and do a few transitions (dissolves mostly) between some of the scenes, then export the whole thing.  The other way was to just build the entire movie with every scene as a sequence, editing them, and moving them to the master timeline.  Are you saying I won't be able to do either?  If that's the case, then I suppose I'll have to just edit each scene, export them, and then get someone with a monster machine to put it all together for me.  Hoping it doesn't come to that, but it's not the worst thing I could have to do.

  • What is the best way to work on multiple songs in one long recording?

I often record the local open-mic nights and generally just leave logic recording the entire night so i end up with lots of songs/bands in one big recording.
What is the best way to work with such a recording? Is there a better way than just using the event marker when a new band plays?
Also once i get home id like to save each band to a separate project but i cant seem to find an easy way to do this?
Obviously each band needs a different mix hence needing separate projects? or am i missing a much better work method?
    any help greatly appreciated!
    many thanks

As for your second point, just do a "save as" new file name and cut and erase any unwanted audio from the arrange window (ie. the bits that aren't in the song you want separate). You can do this for as many songs as there are and create a different mix for each one no problem. You multiple select and drag all the regions to the beginning of the arrange window (make sure you do them at the same time so's they don't go out of synch. All the separate songs and mixes can be saved in the same project folder as the original audio files are stored in (the folder structure should be there already if you started a new logic project, so no need to change that.
I would think using markers so you know where each song begins during the show, and the above method after, would be a very good way of organizing things. You may want to stop actually recording between bands too though I expect you are already doing this.
Its really as easy as that. Sometimes things just are.

  • The best way to make proxy files for editing?

    Hi,
What is the best way to create proxy files for editing? I'm thinking Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy). The original material is DVCPRO HD 1080i50, shot on Panasonic P2 cards, and copied on to hard drives. But as there is about 400 hours of it, I desperately need to find a clever way to make smaller proxy files for editing.
I would also like to make the proxies at a smaller resolution than 1080i for the editing process.
I guess it's possible to import the media and then batch export it to the proxy format, but Is there a better way?

I'm not able to ingest the material directly from the P2-folders as ProRes 422 (Proxy). No matter how much I change the import settings in "Log and transfer", it still ingests as DVCPRO HD 1080i50.
Correct. DVCPRO HD P2 can only come in as DVCPRO HD. You can't transcode it. AVCIntra P2 is what you can bring in as ProRes. (Sorry Tom).
I can of course transcode it form there to the proxy format and delete the ingested files,
Why? Why do that? You have ingested all the files, right? You ALREADY HAVE THEM...right? Why not work with them? You obviously have the room (20TB). Why import all this, then now take the days it would require to make proxies?
Making the ProRes-proxies directly from the P2-material seems more logical, or isn't it?
DVCPRO HD P2 cannot come in as anything else, so the offline/online workflow for them doesn't work unless you import it all, then transcode to a smaller format...but then need to keep the originals online to relink to when you are done. If you wanted to do an offline/online, you needed to research this better...or test it...before you shot your hundreds of hours only to find that what you want to do won't work.

  • What is the best way to create shared variable for multiple PXI(Real-Time) to GUI PC?

What is the best way to create shared variable for multiple Real time (PXI) to GUI PC? I have 16 Nos of PXI system in network and 1 nos of GUI PC. I want to send command to all the PXI system with using single variable from GUI PC(Like Start Data acquisition, Stop data Acquisition) and I also want data from each PXI system to GUI PC display purpose. Can anybody suggest me best performance system configuration. Where to create variable?(Host PC or at  individual PXI system).

    Dear Ravens,
I want to control real-time application from host(Command from GUI PC to PXI).Host PC should have access to all 16 sets PXI's variable. During communication failure with PXI, Host will stop data display for particular station.
    Ravens Fan wrote:
Either.  For the best performance, you need to determine what that means.  Is it more important for each PXI machine to have access to the shared variable, or for the host PC to have access to all 16 sets of variables?  If you have slowdown or issue with the network communication, what kinds of problems would it cause for each machine?
You want to located the shared variable library on whatever machine is more critical.  That is probably each PXI machine, but only you know your application.
