  • Best webcam for Mac mini core solo?

What is the best webcam to use for my Mac Mini with an older display - is MacAlly icecam 2 sufficient? and i'm still on 10.4.11. Many thanks for your kind responses.

I've been looking into webcams for my mini and have noticed that some webcams whilst the video works, the sound doesn't. I have an old webcam which my wife uses on our windows box, and I got it working on my mac using the Macam drivers http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/ The only problem was that the microphone wasn't supported, a recurring trend!! From my investigations the Logitech Quick Cam Vision Pro for Mac seems to be the best available, but it is a bit expensive £89.99 here in the UK.

  • Is iSight the BEST webcam available for Macs?

Can anyone tell me if iSight is really the best webcam for the Mac? Assuming I find the appropriate 3rd party software to support it, is there a better webcam available?
Also, my Digital Video Camcorder does will not work for this purpose.
    Thanks!

    Hi Matt:
Interestingly, a number of folks have been asking the same question lately. You may want to review the many posts in this forum. I think they will be quite helpful. As always, if you need anything specfic, let us know!

  • Best webcam to use for Facetime on a Mac Mini?

Long story short, my mother's PC bought it last night and after many years of trying to convince her, I'm going to order a Mac Mini for her to use.  She wants to use Facetime with it, however, as her friends have iPads and whatnot.   I have always relied on my built-in iSight cameras from my iMacs, so I have no idea what a good 3rd party camera is.  Without suggesting I track down a used iSight on eBay or whatnot, what are the best webcams currently available on the market that use Lion (most recent update) and are available to use with Facetime?
I have been told that Logitech has one (c910), but I can't seem to find verification that it supports Facetime on Lion, as most of the reviews I have found are from 2010 and early 2011.
    Thanks.

  • Best webcam for Mac Mini with lion os

WHat is the best webcam to use on most recent mac mini (lion OS)?

I purchased a Logitech HD C910 and it works really well. The non-included software for Mac you have to download is crap, but you don't need it for Skype, iChat, PhotoBooth, Google+ hangouts, etc.

  • The best webcam for the Mac Pro?

I have a 23 inch desktop and frankly, I'm upset at the iSight not being made anymore and the people making serious bank off it on ebay and amazon. I tried the agent webcam by liquid digital which is a company in australia, http://agent.liquiddigital.com.au/index.htm
The problem? Too expensive and the video did poor in well lit situations. It also looked grainy. I want a webcam that will look as good if not better than the ones on the Laptops and iMacs. It looks razor sharp at The Apple events when used for iChat demos. I want the same thing at home.

Do you happen to have a Firewire Camcorder ?
Also see the bottom this page http://homepage.mac.com/john_kenn/video.html
Although written at the time of Jaguar (iChat 2 demo) it does list some Firewire web Cams you may find in some corners of the market.

What was the iRez Kritter now leads you here with all sorts of prices. (They tend to specialise in Medical Cameras now)
After that it is looking at USB cameras
Ones that are listed as USB 2.0 and therefore more likely to be UVC compliant are the next best bet (UVC is USB Video Class which is now got a driver in the Mac OS since 10.4.9)
This chap has done some comparisons http://www.speedycam.be/webcams.html
The X-Box 360 cam has a focus ring and works on computers that have 10.4.9 and above and USB 2.0 ports (it is UVC compliant).

  • Best webcam / camera for iChat - definitive answer?

    So,
loving my iChat with iSight, I need to get a friend a camera to use with their Mac Pro (2007) / Leopard to communicate with us; and of course, not having the luxury of iSight to purchase anymore, is there a definitive 'best' camera to buy that works 'flawlessly' with iChat ?
I liked the Quickcam 9000 per spec, but it looks like people have a lot of problems with it (5 frames a second is not acceptable). Is there a better / more reliable option?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hello Dan
Because of system configurations and other possible webcam uses, what it "better / more reliable" for one may not be for you.
Your Leopard equipped Mac Pro can use any of the suggestions offered in this post:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5725045&#5725045
For lowest cost, best picture, and great zoom capability, (albeit with less convenience than a webcam.) I suggest you use your Mac compatible Firewire-equipped DV camcorder if you have one. The only possible problem I know with Firewire connected cameras is possible hardware or software conflicts for some of us.
A UVC cam will avoid that problems with your Firewire ports. However, understand that every USB device that shares one of your Mac Pro's USB channels also shares its bandwidth. Therefore, you will get best performance from a UVC webcam if you disconnect other devices from the channel that your UVC cam is using while you perform your video tasks.
I started with my DV Camcorder, but I have been using my old Rev A iSight since I got it about four years ago. Therefore, if you want actual users' experiences with USB webcams, we will need to await input from others.

  • What's the best webcam for Mac with tilt/pan/zoom?

I am trying to find a good quality webcam to use for videoconferencing with my Mac (MacBook Air actually). The camera is to be positioned on the 60-inch screen on the wall in our boardroom so the built-in Facetime camera doesn't do the job. It needs to have tilt/pan/zoom (in software). When I started on this search I had no idea such a thing was going to be so hard to find. There is no shortage of such products for Windows but I can't find a single one for the Mac.
There are a lot of webcams that claim to support Mac but on closer investigation not a single one of them (that I've found so far anyhow) provides any conrol features like tilt/pan/zoom - nor even brightness and contrast control for that matter. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places because it's hard to believe the Mac world really is lacking such products. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Would be much appreciated.

    You're most welcome, Julie.

If you are still shopping, you might be able to find a compatible used camcorder at a local store that sells used cameras or electronics. One with a failed tape mechanism that otherwise works would likely be very low priced.  The same store may also have compact tripods.
Because your MBA is so portable, it is easy to take with you so you can test any camcorder before you buy to be certain it meets your needs.

  • Best webcam?

Help!  I'm doing a lot of interviews by Skype for television programs and need a better webcam than the one built into my iMac (see below for specs).  The hard drive for the iMac is 250 GB, and I have two 2-TB external drives tethered to it (one for extra media storage, one for backup, in addition to my Time Capsule).
What make and model do you recommend for a new webcam?
    Thank you!

    Hello,
I don't use anything else than the webcam in my iMac but you can find some interesting products on this page :

You will see a Skype rating and a Customer rating. Check reviews for some of them on Amazon too. And don't forget to verify if the webcam is compatible with Mac.

  • Best webcam for stop motion in Premiere Elements 7

The Gear Head usb webcam my son has been using for stop motion does not seem to work with Premiere Elements 7.
Adobe used to have a list of compatible cameras, but the link is dead.
Anyone have any suggestions for a usb webcam you know works with PRE 7?
Also noticed that it "requires" a usb 2.0 connection with 1.0 drivers. Anything issues to look out for there?
    Thanks

Here's another ask of you Paul.
I've also seen a tutorial on a guy adding a glow to a wedding shot that he had.  It was a shot of some of the grooms party in a church I think and also a shot of the grooms party outside the church.  The tutorial showed how to bring up the whites on certain areas of the images to glow out the whites and have them shine through ... if you know what I mean.
I forgot to bookmark the tutorial so just wondered if you knew (again) where it may have been from.  A big ask I know but I thought I'd try just in case.
