Best work-in sleeve/case for MB Pro 15"

Hi my new Macbook Pro just arrived last Thursday and I was wondering what kind of sleeve or case I should get for it. It's the 15" model and I'm looking for a work-in sleeve/case that will also provide some protection against bumps and maybe even drops. I would also like it to have either some unique graphics/colour (like lime green for instance) or be customizable, if possible.
When I did some research I came across the Booq Vyper M3 (found at: http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Vyper-hard-laptop-cases/Vyper-M3-macbook-pr o-sleeve) case and I REALLY like the way it looks but unfortunately it's not a work-in sleeve. Anything that looks like that (or is made of ballistic nylon) and has straps inside to hold the laptop would be perfect! Thanks in advance for your replies =]

  • ZeroShock sleeve case for MacBook Pro is available...

In case anyone is looking for one, the ZeroShock sleeve case fitted for MacBook Pro is available at:
    http://shinza.com/productinfo.php?productsid=57
Although the manufacturer is Japanese, the product is apparently in inventory and shipped from their California warehouse.
I have ordered, but not yet received.
    Enjoy.

Ya the Biolithic is perfect for that application. I got one while my MBP was in for repairs so it's never been used. It comes with a screen protector, laptop bag, and peripherals bag. I can do $35 ($7 cheaper than if you bought from Biolithic) shipped, let me know if you're interested.
    Thanks,

  • Sleeves & Case for macbook.

What is the best Sleeve or Case for macbook?

There really is no "best" because it depends upon the user. I was never able to find exactly what I wanted so I had one made out of black thick flannel with a velcro envelope flap. Fits snug as a bug.
I also had a black soft canvas backpack with front pocket made in the same style. The backpack is three inches deep, 10 inches wide and 14 inches tall with a velcro envelope flap. The straps are the same canvas material only doubled and include a velcro chest strap to keep it all snug. The front pocket has room for the adapter, a mini-mouse, CD/DVD disks, and a few other things. The pack is just deep enough for the Blackbook and perhaps a half-inch thickness of papers like reports, patient records, letters, etc.
No matter where I looked I couldn't find anything like it. I wanted/needed something light to wear and easy to get in and out of quickly. Yes there are sleeves and backpacks but the sleeves were either too bulky, too gaudy, too stiff, and slapped with a large manufacturer's logo. Finding a simple comfortable soft laptop backpack is near impossible. I don't need to carry a folding tent, sleeping bag and camping stove on my back, just a slim 13" Blackbook.
I get compliments on the backpack all the time (and the sleeve too). If I had the time I would make up a dozen or so and offer them for sale. The pattern for the backpack, believe it or not, came from a Barbie doll pattern: "The Ken Doll Knapsack". I took it to a my elderly neighbor (a retired seamstress) and she used the pattern to create a larger modified version. The Ken Doll pattern called for a buckle closure and buckle adjusting straps and was much deeper. I asked for a velcro replacement and a slimmer casing to hold the Blackbook and a few papers.
So you see, there is no "best" for best is in the eye of the beholder. There are many offerings and look around before jumping off on the first or second sleeve you come across.

  • Speck See-Thru case for MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15 inch

Hi, I recently purchased the Speck See-Thru case for the MacBook Pro Retina. The case seems to fit very snugly and requires some degree of force to remove. The top half of the case proves to be more difficult than the bottom half. Is it normal that it takes some force to pop off the tabs of the case? I am probably over worrying but just want to make sure. Thanks

I have a Speck see-thru for mine and yes, they fit quite snugly. Probably to prevent a "rattling" feeling that would feel even worse. As time goes by and you inevitably have to take it off every so often to clean underneath, the snugness goes away.
Yes, in spite your best efforts, dust somehow finds its way in there and gathers in the corners which soon becomes unbearable and off it has to come. Guess that's the downside of transparency.   Maybe next time I'll get an opaque black model....

  • What is thes best 5.1 speaker kit for macbook pro 2011

what is the best 5.1 speaker kit for my macbook pro
    thanks for help.

A 5.1 is considered a surround sound system, it's typically used in home theater systems, not computers.
A computer doesn't have the necessary electronics to produce the rich quality of sound that a 5.1 system can deliver, the PC 5.1's are just gamers gimmick cards, they too really don't have the necessary electronics or wattage for rich, full bodied sound.
Now I can tell you what works really well as a 5.1 system for iTunes, movies and such from your MacBook Pro, or anything really.
A Harmon Kardon 5.1 Home Theater.
It has 110 Watt speakers, 5 of them, and a 200 watt subwoofer that will make your heart thump in your chest.
You need only two things with this system, a optical stereo mini Toslink adapter and a optical Toslink cable.
You plug one inside your MacBook Pro (enable the optical out) and the other to the receiver and mess with the remote to enable theater mode from the computer for iTunes (takes stereo and makes it quad sound with separate bass)
For playing DVD's with 5.1, you enable the right 5.1 encoding, Dolby, ProLogic etc on both and the Mac passes the 5.1 through the system to the receiver.
For playing 3D games, you just pass the 5.1 through, the receiver handles the surround sound.
The important thing is setup, the listening point needs to be right in the center of the four channel speakers, the center is over your monitor or TV and the subwoofer is stuck in a free corner someplace, it's placement is unimportant, as long as it's in the room and not blocked.
Brother, you have system like this hooked up to your iTunes and tears will be falling from your eyes the music sounds so good. Makes you full hear the full quality of the iTunes bought music.
Will set you back a couple of thousand, but it's worth it. All the cables etc are color coded, easy to setup.

    Hope that helps

  • What is the best audio production hard drive for macbook pro 13" 2.53 ghz?

I'm new to mac, this has been a big transition.
I've been looking on newegg and there are tons of choices.
Looking for a good hard drive for music production in live 8, 7200 rpm has been recommended. Should it be internal or external?
I'm making minimalist oldschool synthpop so I don't need too many plugins or tracks at once but I am gigging so I want gear that's simple, I love everything about the apogee duet in this respect.
    I have macbook pro 13" 2.53 ghz 4GB ram
    Apogee Duet
    Ableton live 8 standard

For internal, you can't go wrong with the Hitachi Travelstar. They work very well with the MacBook Pro and right now you can get 300 GB of 7200 RPM for less than 75 dollars at Newegg. You could try that and see if you really need an external given the type of music you're working with.
If you decide to get an external, I would steer away from all-purpose drives and get one designed for audio, like the Glyph drives. Along the Apogee Duet simplicity lines, they're designed for music production and they just work. Most of them come with carrying cases. Just plug the Glyph into your MacBook Pro, plug the Duet into the Glyph, and that's it.

  • Suggested carry case for MB Pro 15"

Just picked up a MB PRo 15" a couple of weeks ago. I am looking for a case that I can carry it in that will protect it. I would also like the case to accommodate my iPad and a couple of Pelican 1010 Micro cases for some of the various network adapters that I need to keep with me. I have found a lot of the "sleeves" that do little more than server as a slip cover. Will need to have room for the chargers for both MB Pro, iPad and iPhone.

I like the bags from WaterField (American-made in SF). Innovative, good looking, and well made bags. I like this sleeve with D-rings and a flap, but they have larger bags too.

Your kit looks like its around 8 lbs of Apple gear before "network adapters". Sounds like you might need wheels.

  • Trying to buy a protective case for MacBook Pro MD314B/A 13.3"

    Hi
It's my first message on here so hope someone can help me.  I've been an Apple user for three years now and absolutely love all of their products and currently have a MacBook Air, iPad 2 and iPhone 5.
I am trying to buy a protective cover/case for a friends son who is getting a MacBook Pro MD314B/A for his birthday but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find one for that particular model, in all my searches (pretty exhaustive so far) all I seem to find are ones for the model A1278 none seem to be coming up for the MD314B/A model that I am wanting.
I only have that to go by as that is all I have been given by his mum who's pretty computer and Apple savvy so I presume it's the correct information, I just can't understand why I can't find one as I it was a doddle when I found a cover for my MacBook Air.
I know it is the 2011 model of MacBook Pro and really don't want to guess and order a wrong cover and disappoint someone on their birthday.
I hope someone can throw some light on how to make sure I find the right one, obviously I can't check on the MacBook itself as it is all boxed up ready for the big day.
    Many thanks to you all

  • Custom Case for Macbook Pro 15 Retina

I have been looking for a place where I can create a custom hard physical case for a 15 inch macbook pro with retina display.  In my searchings I have only found custom skins and decals.  Does anybody know where I can create a custom plastic (or something like that) case for a macbook pro.  I DO NOT WANT TO GET A SKIN OR DECAL, BUT AN ACTUAL CASE.

Hi  Macsaregreat I found a company that does them the link is http://www.mrnutcase.com/en-GB/personalised-macbook-cover/ it is an actual hard plastic case for the top and bottom, I love mine came really quick as well.

  • Protective sleeve/case for MacBook?

I'm getting a new MacBook for a client who tends to be rather rough on his equipment; his old iBook's case has a couple of chunks missing (he doesn't know how it happened). So I'm looking for some protection for the MacBook. He'll be carrying it in a backpack, so what's needed is some kind of padded, tough sleeve/case that fits the MacBook itself; no need for pockets for power adapter, etc. Anyone have any suggestions?

When I got my macbook I bought a sleeve off ebay :

But it depends really... If this client is careless with the hardware then you can also get outer casing that clips on

  • Hard case vs Rubberized hard case for Macbook Pro?

I'm looking at cases for my MBP 13" and was wondering which is prefereable - hard or rubberized? Also, are there any particular models that you all reccommend?
As for keyboard skins, which is the best (affordable) one? I type fast & hard and want to be sure my keys are protected. Thank you!

Cases of any sort hinder the MPB's cooling requirements. Get whatever you want but don't be surprised when it runs hot.
My Powerbook withstood over a decade of daily typing. The keys are fine. Just don't spill anything on it.

Well, that depends. In your profile you say you are using Mac OS X 10.0.x, but that won't run on a MacBook Pro, so it must be much newer than that.
Since you also say you have a 13" Late 2011 MBP, you must at least be running OS X 10.7.2, so the answer is that the best anti-virus protection available today would be a fully up-to-date 10.7.4 which will protect you against all currently known malware that can impact your computer. But of course, there is always tomorrow and that could be a different story. Just be careful with how you use your admin password and approve certificates and you will probably be fine.
A good summary of OS X malware can be fourn on Thomas Reed's site http://www.reedcorner.net/guides/macvirus/
