Beta 2 broke link with printer including link to 1.3.1

I downloaded the Beta and the printer suddenly was not recognized. Then when I went back to 1.3.1 it too would not recognize the printer. I have checked the printer with other software including PE6 and it works fine. I've deleted the printer and then let it be found. I've checked for update software and even spent an hour on the phone with printer support. It's in LR>
I've reloaded LR 1.3.1 but it still won't recognize the printer. It continues to do just as Beta 2 started to do. It won't let me set up the print page within LR now and when I do hit "print" it crashes and closes down.
Any ideas from anyone?

I got it to work, but it was not easy. I occasionally ditch the backup files and had done everything prior to 1.4 so that wouldn't work.
In the end I had to remove the preference file as noted above then the printer from the computer (software delete) then open Lightroom and open the catalog and then back it up with no printer attached.
Then I closed LR. While closed I brought the printer back on line by using the set up printer commands and after that I then re-opened LR and opened the saved catalog that had no printer in the preferences. When it opened it found the new printer....and...
It works!
Pain in the yahoo!
I want to play with Beta 2, but am afraid to load it again.

  • Any Idears on how to use my D-Link Router with Print Server on my mac ?

I just got recently a D-Link Router with Print Server.
The Model is a DI-704UP. does anyone know how i can access the printer to my G5 ?
talked to D-Link and Apple and they have no solution.

According to this page on the D-Link website about your product, the router includes a print server for Windows and that the software is for Windows only.
However, this page also on D-Link's website does offer you an unsupported solution.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • Unable To Communicate With Printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network)

I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600. One morning a couple weeks ago I tried to print something and I received a prompt saying "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)". I turned off the printer and turned it back on which did not help, I then turned off my wireless network, turned it back on and still nothing. I finally figured out that I first have to turn off the printer, then turn off my wireless router wait thirty seconds, turn the router back on and the turn the printer back on. After these steps my printer was working. The next morning the same thing happened "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)" and I've been replaying Groundhog's Day ever since.
    Please help!

    Hello msheehy-
I would like to help you with this issue. It sounds like the router is changing the ip address of the printer. This could be caused by a couple reasons. (ip lease time, power loss to the router) I would recommend looking at the following link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03781399&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4323648&tmp...
I think if you would set a static ip address in the printer EWS you would better off. I hope this helps.

  • Problems printing - Unable to communicate with Printer

I just reinstalled my printer and it was working fine yesterday but now I can't print today as it's giving me the error message "Unable to communicate with printer".  We did also change wireless companies but we set up the printer to it as well as my laptop.  I printed out the Network Configuration Page to get the IP address but not sure how to change it.  I need direction on where to go and how to do it and hopefully that will work.  I saw in a post that I need to  change your computer(s) printer driver configuration to match the printer's IP address, but I have no clue how.  If that is correct please help and if not, please guide me on what to do.  Thank you!

  • Black ink 'incompatible with printer'

I brought a new laptop from PC World 4 days ago and with it came a printer (included in the laptop price).
I started to set it up today, but after I turned it on and it asked me to put in the inks, I did it in the way it showed me on the piece of paper that accompanied the printer using the inks that were provided in the box, although it showed that the black ink cartridge was incompatible with the printer. I tried taking them out and putting them back in again and the 'turn it on and off again' theory but in the end it didn't work so I'm currently only using the colored ink.  Any ideas as to what I can do next?

Hi , Welcome to the HP Community!I hope you have a pleasant experience here.  I'd like to help you with the incompatible black cartridge error you are getting on your HP ENVY 4507 e-All-in-One printer. If you look at the label on the cartridge itself, does it say SETUP? The printer should come with a complete setup of setup cartridges and those have to be used to initialize the printer. If it does say setup on the label, then I would recommend following the steps in this document:A 'Cartridge Missing' or 'Incompatible Ink Cartridges' Error Message Displays for HP ENVY 4500 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540 Printers If the issue persists, I'd recommend contacting our HP phone support:Step 1. • HP 5510,windows 7, new setup of printer, "unable to communicate with printer" when i try to print

HP 5510, Windows 7, new printer, just picked it up!, "unable to communicate with printer" when I try to print a page, all network conections check out OK with Print Diagnostic Utility.

Are you receiving any error messages when you print from the desktop? Its possible the print spooler is having issues which is not pushing the jobs to the printer. Lets restart the print spooler to get any old jobs that could be stuck in the queue removed.
    1. Press the start orb in the bottom left on the screen.
    2. Click on "Run"
    3. Type "services.msc" (without the quotes)
    4. Locate the Print Spooler service in the right column
    5. Click restart on the service link on the left
After it restarts the spooler go ahead and retry printing. Let me know if this works.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Windows 7 64 bit machine with printer installed locally takes 2-3 minutes for printing most of the time and fails to print some time.

Our customer  have 3-4 windows machines in local area network (No Domain Login) with different OS versions and platform architecture (32 / 64 bit)
I have no idea about the configuration of  machine to which printer is hooked up but it is running Windows for sure.
This machine is accessible from any other machine in LAN. They have another machine running Windows 7 64 bit OS  on which they have installed the printer connected to earlier machine  using local printer driver installation
with local TCP/IP port being selected during installation. Installation goes well,  printer gets installed successfully and  shows ready state. but when we try to print anything on it takes 2-3 minutes to complete print job. They have tried
this on printers with couple of different model and make but the result is same delayed printing. They have also tried to install different printer drivers like HP printer model specific driver and HP universal driver too , but the result is
the same in all cases. earlier when they were using  32 bit XP machine with printer installed same way that they installed now for win 7 64 , there was no issue seen with regards delayed printing. is this a issue with windows  7 64
bit printing system ? or it has to do something with mixed and matched (32/64 bit )printer drivers running on different machines on LAN ?
I will try to get more information with regards to the machine to which printer is connected. In the mean please revert back to me if any one had face similar issue and able to resolve it successfully.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
Have you tried ping ip address of printer? and check if there exists any data lost in network connection. If your network connection is crowded, it can cause delay for printer.
Also, please attempt to disable all security software temporarily, such as antivirus, firewalls, etc and
    clear all printer cache.
Locate to task manager, check the state of spoolsv.exe, including cpu and memory. If it has high cpu or memory usage, it may be caused by malware. Thus, you'd better to make a full scan with the latest anti-virus.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 "Problem with Printer or Ink System'

A gander at this forum suggests I am one ofa multitude of people perplexed by this issue. There is a notation beside one enquiry which says 'Problem Solved'.... well it isn't for me. My printer (typical!) is one month out of warranty. I had to replace the black cartridge and, when I did, it came up with this error prompt. I then replaced all the other cartridges. HP suggests removing the printhead and following that they say place it 'upside down on a clean sheet of paper'... NO instructions for cleaning it!! When it is replaced in the printer they suggest you 'rock the printhead left and right to make sure that the printhead fully seats in the carriage' and if THIS doesn't fix things 'try reseating the printhead up to 3 times'... This in itself is an admission of an 'issue' with this product. It doesn't sound like a very scientific engineering 'fix' to me!
A new printhead costs almost what we paid for the printer a year ago. I hate consigning anything to landfill that I can avoid... unfortunately it looks like that is where this unit belongs...

    Hi @Robin_Perth,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!

  • "Unable to Communicate with Printer"

I work at home, dialing into the office through VPN. Windows 7. Been using my HP printer flawlessly for 7 months, including up to yesterday, but today, I get the above error.  The printer is connected, the wireless is working in my home for all other peripherals attached to it. My work help desk is talking gobblygook to me and can't help.  It's something about an IP address. Can anyone help?  Work firewall won't let me download the HR Scan Doctor.

    Hey @GinaCh,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you have been using your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer through the wireless connection to your Windows 7 computer fine for months now. However, recently, when connecting to your VPN to print you are receiving the message 'unable to communicate with printer'. Unfortunately, this error message is the exact reason why your printer is not supported over the VPN connection when wirelessly connected.
When you network the printer it comes down to a numbers game. To explain this better I am going to use an example below. When you have a wireless printer on your network it is assigned an IP Address from your router that allows it to communicate with other devices on your wireless network, such as  your computer. The first 3 sets of numbers in an IP Address are the same on every device connected to your network.
    As an example,:
    Printer IP: 192.168.1.8
    Desktop Computer IP: 192.168.1.5
    Laptop Computer IP: 192.168.1.3
As you can see, the first 3 sets of numbers are identical and the last digit is different on each device.
When you connect over a VPN your computer disconnects from its local connection (your home network that the printer is connected to) and connects to your business network. This VPN connection will change the numbers so your computer that is connected to the VPN will no longer have the first 3 sets the same as the printer.
    As an example:
    Printer IP: 192.168.1.8
Desktop Computer IP (On VPN): 10.1.10.19
Laptop Computer IP (Not on VPN): 192.168.1.3
If the Desktop computer 'thinks' it's on a different network when connected to the VPN than your wireless printer will be blocked from communication. The 100% way to resolve this issue would be to connect your HP Officejet to your computer through a USB Cable. If this is not an option than the next supported step would be to log into the VPN and open the document you need to print, then disconnect from the VPN and select file and print and everything should work fine.
Now there may be security settings or port settings that may have changed on the VPN which is why the printer is now being blocked from communicating over the network. To resolve this you would need the IT Department for your company to take a look into this issue for you.
I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Should you wish to connect your printer through a USB Cable connection I can certainly assist you with that. Best of luck!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: "Unable to Communicate with Printer" error message

I receive the error message "Unable to Communicate with Printer" regularly when I print. Sometimes it will print 3 or 4 times just fine before I get this message. Sometimes it happens my first try at printing. I then have to reboot my computer to get it to work again. My OS is Windows 7 and my printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8600. My printer is wired to my computer. I have tried re-installing the printer software but this did not help. I've had this printer for only four months. Started happening after the second month. Any suggestions?

I finally solved it.  Reflecting back on previous message boards I decided to try one last time.  Some posters have found the problem in the Antivirus, Firewall protections.  (By the way, I had even upgraded my router with no luck).I have Norton AntiVirus provided by the cable company.1. I turned off everything in the firewall.  Although this left me vulnerable for a few mintues, I needed a fast test.2. It worked!  I was able to print something immediately.3. I went back into the firewall, turned everything back on but turned off an individual switch within the firewall that said to "share the printer. "4. After turning it off, I was able to print and still have the most important parts of the firewall. This ultimately met my needs.Perhaps HP could:1. Do a better job at beta testing prior to release, including various brands of firewalls.  Is there even a beta test process?2. Provide a better description of the error since all indicators within the drivers say the printer is connected.  There should be a message indicating that it's connected but unable to print due to firewall protections.
