Beta 2 - SharePoint Online

Does Beta 2 allow for SharePoint Online? Do we have the ability to write/post data back to the list if I have a simple form? Thinking something like First Name, Last Name, and Email address... then, post that to my Event SharePoint Online List.

Good question. Looks like only half your question was answered.
I would really like to hear a workaround or method for updating BACK to the sharepoint list.  Can we embed a url with a new entry form?  Ideally a simple table or record could be edited from within a siena project.
Really like the idea of Siena, but it has very limited usefulness until I can capture input from the user and store back at the data source.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

    change in sharepoint scripts not require compilation but anything else?

    Yes, PowerShell is great, since you can quick change your code without compilation.
    SP admin can write ps scripts without specific tools like Visual Studio.
    With powershell you can use cmdlets,
    which could remove a lot of code, for example restarting a service.

  • Is Office Home and Business 2013 fully compatible with Sharepoint Online (Office 365)?

    My client recently upgraded 3 Windows 7 PCs (2-32 & 1-64-bit OS) from Office 2007 32-bit (which was actually working fine against Exchange/SharePoint Online) to Office Home and Business 2013 (32-bit)
    Now, for all 3 PCs, while Office 2013 Word/Excel can open, check out/in, and save SharePoint Online files, there is ALWAYS a 2 minute delay in closing the file which is apparently waiting for the Local Security Authority call to return. This seems
    to indicate an issue related to SharePoint security on the client side.
      Problem Event Name: AppHangXProcB1
      Application Name:
    WINWORD.EXE
      Application Version:
    15.0.4657.1000
      Waiting on Application Name:
    lsass.exe:lsasspirpc
    This is the Local Security Authority Security Support Provider Interface Remote Procedure Call (LSA SSPI RPC)
    My client has 66 licenses for SharePoint Online (Plan 2) and 73 Exchange Online (Plan 1) "stand alone" services. The same failure is happening on 3 Win 7 PCs. All of which I've carefully reviewed against the MS Office trouble shooting guides (start
    Windows OS w/out non-MS services, Word/Excel safe mode w/out add-ons, O365 readiness checks, Office repair, etc.). We have PCs running Win 7 (32 & 64-bit) w/Office 365 ProPlus & Office Professional Plus 2013 that work fine. it's JUST these 3 Win 7
    PCs that were upgraded from Office 2007 to Office Home and Business 2013 that have the 2 min. SharePoint file close time.
    Can you please confirm that Office Home and Business 2013 is compatible w/SharePoint Online
    at least for Excel and Word?
    The "slow close" problem can be demonstrated on multiple site collections/sub sites and w/Excel & Word docs in doc libs and lists
    After many hours capturing information, following the MS Office trouble shooting guides, and repairing the Office install, I've had no luck in resolving this.While Word/Excel will eventually close SharePoint Online files after about
    2 minutes, this is certainly unacceptable. Otherwise, locally stored files close normally and new files were created by the Office 2013 Excel/Word for this testing.
    Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi raygabe,
    I couldn't find the document mentioned there is any compatibility between Office365 SharePoint online and Office Home and Business 2013 version, I would recommend that you check if the issue could be reproduced on other Win7 machines installed with Office
    Home and Business 2013 installed directly instead of upgrading from Office2007, see if issue is related to Office application upgrade.
    I also recommend that you post this issue on our dedicated Office365 SharePoint online forum and Office 2013 forum for a better assistance with more experts regarding this issue from the following links.

  • Multitenant application authentication in SharePoint Online (O365)

    I am able to use OAuth2 to authenticate using the mechanism described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn645542.aspx - my intention is to allow my 3rd party WebApp to allow users to grant access to their SharePoint content via Azure OAuth.
    I am able to use the login.windows.net/common/oauth2 endpoints, and having registered my app in Azure, I do indeed get the right callback once the user authentiates, and I am able to post to the token endpoint.
    At this point, I have an auth-token that I can use, but I don't know the URL to the user's default (or root) SharePoint site. I am required to provide a 'resource' URI so that authentication can succeed, and if I hard-code this value to a known URL, then
    it works like a charm.  Unfortunately, this makes my application specific to one particular tenant.  Far from ideal...
    My question is - how can I detect the SharePoint URL to use as the resource parameter for access to - before the user logs-in? Or even better - is there a way to login using OAuth2 that allows me access to SharePoint endpoints, but which does not require
    me to know what the endpoints are ahead of time?
    If not, I don't see how it is possible to write multi-tenant applications with this model. I must be missing something.   Help!

    There are some interesting details on the stack overflow post here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27303590/building-a-multi-tenant-app-for-sharepoint-online-o365
    Bottom Line : SharePoint Online O365 applications only seem to be viable with hard-coded tenancy URLs - and there does not seem to be a mechanism for discovering a user's root web or site by the time it is required. This seems like a major hole in the multi-tenant
    application architecture, or more correctly the Azure login procedure for SharePoint, which has implications on a multi-tenant application.
    I am hoping someone has the magic silver bullet out there...

  • Visio Web Access Refresh in SharePoint Online 2013

    I'm trying to pull in SharePoint Online 2013 List data into a Visio Pro 2013 diagram and then serve the diagram into a SharePoint Online Page under a Visio Data Access Web Part.
    I have no working knowledge of Visio, but made a data connection and presented SPO list data on my diagram. But the data appears to be static when deployed to the Visio Access Web Part - even when I manually refesh.   I think, I'm not correctly
    adding list fields to my document.
    I've set  refresh rates on both the document and the web part, but neither help.
    For a demo I want to show a single list field - nothing fancy.
    Possible to have dynamic data from an SPO List hosted in SPO?
    Any way to filter which row is sent from through a URL Query string?
    How?

    Hi ,
    Per the following article, the data sources will be disconnected and can't be refreshed after the Visio is published to SharePoint.
    "You can publish PivotDiagrams or Timeline diagrams to SharePoint, but they are disconnected from the data sources and can’t be refreshed."

  • SharePoint Online custom alert emails

    How can I change the alert email that SharePoint online (part of Office 365) send out.  I've seen alot of reference to AlertTemplate.xml but that is if you have SP installed on a local server.
    I would like to add the check in comments to the alert email.

    Hi Scott,
    The Alerttemplates.xml file is located at: Local_Drive\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Template\XML directory on On-Premise SharePoint local server, so we can customize the alert template file on local server with server
    administration permission per this
    article.
    But in Office365 SharePoint Online, if you wan to customize the alert template you need to customize the Alerttemplates.xml under 14 folder on Online server, but it is not permitted, check this article

  • Cross domain call to Azure ASPX from SharePoint Online Site Collection

    We have a ASPX page hosted on Azure that is creating a Zip of documents from a SharePoint Document Library against IDs that we are passing it through query string. Next we are flushing this ZIP as a download response to the client
    browser so that user can save it somewhere on his machine. This is working as expected.
    Next we are calling this ASPX from our SharePoint Online Site Collection. Sometime it takes time to create the ZIP & return to the client and therefore we want to implement a Progress Image showing something is happening at the server. We
    have used window.open() method to call this ASPX and at the same time we are showing up the Progress Image. But due to same origin policy we are not able to track any window specific events in Internet Explorer to close the Progress Image when the response
    returns to the client.
    Please suggest a suitable workaround for this scenario. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!
    Jitendra

    Hi Jitendra,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to call a aspx page hosted on Azure from SharePoint Online site and implement a progress image to show the progress happening at the server.
    In your scenario, if you want to call the aspx page on Azure to create zip and return to the client, the better way is createing a web service and call it in clinet side. You can add the progress status in the custom code and then judge the status to
    show correponding progress image.

    Actual Requirement

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to do customization in SharePoint Online with the requirement above.
    For the first question, continue to Scott, you can read the rss feed, the rss feed effectively contains the items from the list, you can read the list using Client Object Model to get RSS feed.
    For the second question, if you want to get current log in profile in my site, then you can try to use user profile rest api to get it.
    User profiles REST API reference
    For the third question, if you want to deploy the announcement app from on-premise to Online, if it's OOTB app, then it's not necessary, SharePoint Online have the announcement app as well.
    For the fourth question, if the CapIQ is a customize solution, I suggest you can use SharePoint hosted app to publish to the SharePoint online site.
    How to: Publish an app for SharePoint by using Visual Studio
    For the fifth question, if you want to upload the questions not create in site to the survey,  you can use Client Object Model to create the questions.
    Here is a similiar thread for your reference:

  • How to export SharePoint Online sites in an offline format that can be accessed without SharePoint?

    Details:
    Non-techie needs to archive SharePoint site and apps content into one convenient file.
    1. Currently SharePoint calenders, contacts and tasks synced to Outlook and exported to an Outlook .pst;
    2. Document libraries to a folder in file system;
    3. SharePoint Online 2013 microfeed cannot sync at all (correct me if I'm wrong).
    4. Pages also not really exportable.
    Migration between O365 plans and tenants I can use .wsp but still limited to 50MB export and needs site collection settings access.
    Ideally able to access these content offline (no security implications here).
    Anyone know of a simple way?

    Hi Tian-An,
    SharePoint contents (e.g. document files, list items, pages) are stored in SQL database, it may if you want to use the contents without SharePoint environment, I think you can click "Open with Exporer" from library ribbon and then copy them to

  • How to get Client ID and Client Secret for Office App for Word which accessing SharePoint Online

    we currently implementing an Office App for MS Word which access SharePoint list and get data from lists. Our aim is any user can get this app from Office App store and enter their SharePoint URL and browse their own SharePoint lists and use those. When
    I was checking mechanisms which you used to access SharePoint, in some of them have used ClientId and Client Secret to authenticate with SharePoint. I have following questions.
    1.If I want to sell my app using Office app store where can I get those clientId and client secret which is used to  get the access tokens.
    2.Is it possible to create SharePoint app and publish it to SharePoint app store and get clientId and client secret and use it when accessing through office. So users first download our SharePoint app install it to their SharePoint environment then get out
    Office App from Office app store and add it to word. Will this work?

    Hi,
    >> We are planning to develop an Office app to access SharePoint Online and SharePoint on Premise from Microsoft word.
    I’m not very familiar with SharePoint development, so please correct me if I have any misunderstandings about your requirement.
    The basic components of an app for Office are an XML manifest file and the default webpage of your app (server side).
    >> If I'm publishing my Office App for Word in to the Microsoft office app store, how do I get the ClientId and ClientSecret which I need to pass to authenticate with SharePoint online?
    As far as I know, when register your web app to SharePoint Online, you will get the ClientId and ClientSecret from the Azure Active Directory. And you need to store the Client ID and Client
    Secret on the app server side.
    For details, you could reference the article
    Building an Office 365 ASP.NET MVC app.
    >> If ClientId and ClientSecret not providing when we publishing Word Office App to the app store how what the ways which we can use to authenticate with SharePoint using Word Office app?
    You don’t need to provide the ClientId and ClientSecret when publishing your App to App Store. They are stored on your app server side.
    By the way, if you have the question about how to access the SharePoint resource in a Web Application, I will suggest you posting the questions to
    SharePoint Development Forum. For this forum, we mainly discuss the questions about using the Office JavaScript API to develop Apps for Office.

  • How to extend OOTB Content Search WebPart in SharePoint Online/0365 programmatically ?

    Hi All,
    We have some requirements wherein we need to extend some of the properties of Content Search WebPart in SharePoint Online/0365 using javascript (I am using 0365 NAPA tools). We are looking to create an App Part which functions same as content search webpart.
    To be specific I want to override "QueryText" property of CSWP (using javascript in NAPA tool).
    Any help would be greatly apprieciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dhananjay.

    If you're talking about affecting the CSWP within a host web from within an AppPart, then no it won't be possible as the AppPart runs within an iFrame.
    Perhaps a better approach might be to run your searches within the AppPart using the REST interface for search. Chris O'Brien has a pretty good example of this on his blog..
    http://www.sharepointnutsandbolts.com/2013/01/calling-sharepoint-search-using-rest-eg.html and I think Scott Hillier did a session at SPC which you should be able to find on Channel 9. (Just search for REST SEARCH API)

  • Add a list and column to about 200 sites using powershell in SharePoint online

    I have a sitecollection with about 200 identical sites. However I need to add a new list to each site and a lookup column (referring to this list) to two other lists. I'm not a developer so I struggle a bit. I found this as a starting point:
    [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SharePoint.Client") | Out-Null
    [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.Runtime") | Out-Null
    $WebUrl = 'https://yourtenant.sharepoint.com/sites/somesite'
    $EmailAddress = "[email protected]"
    $Context = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ClientContext($WebUrl)
    $Credentials = Get-Credential -UserName $EmailAddress -Message "Please enter your Office 365 Password"
    $Context.Credentials = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.SharePointOnlineCredentials($EmailAddress,$Credentials.Password)
    $List = $Context.Web.Lists.GetByTitle("YourList")
    $FieldXml = "<Field Type='Text' DisplayName='New_Field_Display_Name' />"
    $Option=[Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.AddFieldOptions]::AddFieldToDefaultView
    $List.Fields.AddFieldAsXml($fieldxml,$true,$option)
    $Context.Load($list)
    $Context.ExecuteQuery()
    $Context.Dispose()
    Can someone help me out or is there a better solution?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add a list and a lookup column in about 200 identical sites.
    Per my knowledge, there is no out of the box way to achieve it in SharePoint Server, however, I’m not sure whether it is in SharePoint online.
    As this is the forum for SharePoint Server, you can post your question in the forum for SharePoint online.
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/154.aspx.
    However, as you had known, we can achieve it programmatically.
    Besides the PowerShell command, we can also use the Client Object Model to achieve your scenario.
    If all the 200 sites in one site collection, we can first retrieve all the sites in the site collection, then add the list in every site.
    To retrieve all the sites in a site collection, you can refer to the following code snippets.
    static string mainpath = "SiteURL";
    static void Main(string[] args)
    getSubWebs(mainpath);
    Console.Read();
    public static void getSubWebs(string path)
    try
    ClientContext clientContext = new ClientContext( path );
    Web oWebsite = clientContext.Web;
    clientContext.Load(oWebsite, website => website.Webs, website => website.Title);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (Web orWebsite in oWebsite.Webs)
    string newpath = mainpath + orWebsite.ServerRelativeUrl;
    getSubWebs(newpath);
    Console.WriteLine(newpath + "\n" + orWebsite.Title );
    catch (Exception ex)
    http://chennaisharepointtraining.blogspot.in/2011/11/get-all-subwebs-using-client-object.html
    To create a list, you can have a look at the following article.
