Beta 2 Video Component.

Where is Video Component?
How to create it with out video?

Videos are similiar to images in Catalyst in that there is not a video component or image component in the  Components panel to drag to the stage. Instead, you import a flv or f4v video file and a component will be created for you.
Steps:
1. Choose File > Import Video/Sound File and choose a file on your hard drive to import
The video will now appear on the stage and in the Library panel
2. Use the properties inspector to set visual properties for the video like whether to show the play controls
3. Use the Timeline panel to control when videos play. In the Add Action menu in the Timeline panel you will find Play Video, Pause Video, and Stop Video. These can be used both in Action Sequences and Transitions
A few examples:
You could put a video in a button component and cause it to play on rollover by putting a Play Video action in the Up > Over transition. To make it stop on rollout add a Pause Video action to the Over > Up transition
If you want to play an introductory video when your app starts do this. Import a video to the first state of your application. When nothing is selected go to the Interactions Panel and chose "Add Interaction". Choose "On Application Start" and "Play Action Sequence". A new Action Sequence will be created. Now select a video and choose Add Action > Play Video. The video will now play when the app loads.

  • Video with Synched Slides used as a Video Component ?

I would like to take an existing Synched video and slide show
.fla file and convert it to a FLV file for insertion onto a page
with multiple videos. I was willing to try and convert to QT format
and then convert to FLV and drop the video component on the page,
however CS3 reqiuries you to output in flash 5 format for QT
conversion....... CS3 wont let you convert synched slides and video
below flash 6. Hope this makes sense to somebody.... I suppose
there is a much better way to handle what I am trying to do.... Any
help would be most appreciated ....

It seems like your trying to composite......Did you try after
    effects?
I think you can do this easily in after effects.

  • AVI files delete video component

Hi... New problem. Pretty significant as it brings my current project to a stand still. I capture video files of my screen with "Debut". It is a trial version but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I get great video clips from it, one of which is attached. They are AVI files. When I import to Elements there is no video component, just the audio. It makes them an audio file in Elements.... Hmmm....

Please check out the following for the VLC Media Player download
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
A while back I looked at one of its version for conversion and was ready to throw it out the door. Hopefully the latest version will be helpful.
So, we will be watching for your progress to guide us.
The VLC player is a favorite for video playback of all kinds. Conversion part????
    You wrote
[I downloaded the 'convertavitomp4' program and it worked. I have the video in the timeline, slightly blurry of course. Do you think chaging the wrapper would produce better quality or not?]
At this point, not sure what that conversion program is, but check your project preset choice and make sure that you render the Timeline by pressing the Enter Key of the computer main keyboard to get the best possible view of the Timeline content...you could also just press the Render button above the Timeline. But if you have no colored line or a green line over the Timeline content, no rendering of the Timeline is possible. The rendering is to get the best possible preview of the Timeline AND non colored line or green line over the content means you already have the best possible preview.

  • Wrong layering/depth of video component after re-activate on Nexus 7

    Hi,
With Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and AIR 3.4 or AIR 3.5 (air 3.5.0.520 - beta version 24 oct 2012),
the video component appears on top of the display when you  re-activate the application.
    More information here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3354849
    Philippe

    S3 - 4.1.1 - 3.4.0.254
    Nexus Phone - 4.1.2 - 3.4.0.271 !
    Nexus Tablet - 4.1.2 - 3.4.0.254
    HTC One - 4.0.4 - 3.4.0.254
In our player when a user, via a click through video advert launches a browser instance/window and then closes the browser or presses back button to return to the application. The video layer (display object) that wraps OSMF is now rendered at the top of the Flash display stack preventing all other views from being seen. It only happens when a click through opens a browser. Closing or backgrounding the application in any other way behaves as expected.

    Hi All ,
I have done the installation of the ffmpeg for trans-coding video, changed the environment variable .
i have also test the video in the First profile "Firefox HQ ogg" it is successfully transcoding and running successfully in FF through http://localhost:4502/etc/dam/video/hq.html but when i drag and drop the video in the video component provided in sidekick.it is not even buffering.I have also checked the design mode and set the profile to "Firefox HQ ogg". but no luck

  • Video component and mov's

I am trying to insert a looping movie into flash using the video component. All seems fine i get the video in with no problems and used actionscript to loop the file but when i publish the file it seems to play it like it is on fast forward and occasionally plays it at the correct speed before doing its own thing again!
Does anyone know if it doesnt like mov files? I have compressed in h.264 and jpeg 2000 to no avail! I am new to this flash and video so maybe i am doing something wrong? I need the video file to be very small (under 100kb for an advert). the original file is 700kb, I used QT pro to reduce it to 88kb and it plays fine until i throw it in flash. I also tried it in flv and avi format using adobe encoder but it whacks the file up to 700kb again!
Any ideas? Help asap would be good with ad deadline today!
    Thanks in advance

    Hello JASCHI,
iPhoto doesn't really have the means to get movies into an iTunes format. iMovie 8, on the other hand, does have this ability.
If you can open the movie file in iMovie, from the Share Menu, you can send an iPhone ready copy directly to iTunes. You can find more information on the iMovie support page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/

  • Video Component in 5.5

    Hi -
I am trying to use the OOTB Video component in 5.5. I have installed ffmpeg. I am overriding the arguments to it by using the custom arguments only in the etc/dam/video/hq.html. This is what I have in custom arguments --b:v 64k -threads 2
When I upload a test video to hq.html and run the transcoding, i get no errors. When I add that video to DAM, it also transcodes properly (atleast it throws no errors) and I see ogg,flv and the thumbnail created. However, when I drag that video into a video component on a page, it drops ok, but does not play at all. Is there a problem with the transcoding (even though I get no errors)? The documentation does not specigy which version of ffmpeg to install, so i have installed the latest. I have also tested with mp4 and a .mov file and get the same result. Is there something wrong with the codecs I am using? What codecs should I be using? Thank you for your time.

I noticed that you did not mention the h.264 (m4v or mp4) rendition (from the High Quality H.264 profile) being generated. Might be an issue with ffmpeg for just this encoding - but you should see that in the error log. You'll need this profile rendition for Safari and Chrome (and for the hq Flash fallback for older browsers).
Otherwise: did you define the profiles to be used for the video component in the design dialog of the video component? The ootb geometrixx design uses "High quality h.264" and "Firefox HQ ogg".

  • Apple Video Component Cable only for audio

I want to buy an Apple Video Component Cable to use it with an iPhone 3GS and also with an iPod 5G.
The cable will be connected to the TV and to the audio receiver.
I know that this cable is not compatible with the iPod 5G, but in this case I only want to use it to listen to music. Therefore, only audio with iPod 5G, audio/video with iPhone 3GS.
Does anyone know if using this cable, despite the fact that video won't work on iPod 5G, audio will work fine on iPod 5G?
I'd like to know that before I buy it.
    Thanks!
    Andrés

    I'll answer my self.
Yes, it does play music on the iPod 5th gen.

Hopefully you have a Beta VHS Player handy:

  • Where's the new video component?

I just installed the 9.0.2 update (on my Mac Pro) which is
supposed to have a new video component that allows the use of h.264
video. However, there doesn't seem to be any new components and the
old FLYPlayback component still doesn't recognize anything other
than a .flv file. Is there a problem with the updater or am I
    missing something here?

    > try using NetStream/NetConnect on a video object. I
    haven't
    > tried this yet, but give it a shot.
That's a good thought, and it certainly does work with a
    Video object
and AS3. However, I did try this with the FLVPlayback
    component and, well
... it works -- but it's not especially intuitive. Not an
    ideal situation,
    unfortunately.
For one, it's difficult to browse for the non-FLV file (in
    my case, an
MP4). Why? Because the file filter only looks for FLVs. I'm
    on a Windows
machine, so I just typed *.* into the "File name" field of
    the browse
dialog. That overrides the "Files of type" filter and that's
    when I was
able to see my MP4s. After that, I selected my video file by
double-clicking on it. That updated the FLVPlayback.source
    parameter to the
file path, as expected, but after I clicked OK (after a
    verrrrrry long
pause), Flash gave me an error message, saying "Failed to
    load FLV: [name of
file]." ("Hmm," I thought, "that would be because I didn't
    ask for an FLV
file.") But I tested the SWF anyway, and the thing played
    just fine. Which
means the IDE is now capable of using the latest Flash Player
    to display (to
test, versus debug) SWFs. That part is good. I would have
    expected the IDE
not to have such a hard time with it, though.

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 12025: Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF .

    Revision: 12025
    Revision: 12025
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-11-19 17:48:04 -0800 (Thu, 19 Nov 2009)
    Log Message:
Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF.  Also fixing RSL issue with OSMF because a change in flex-config.xml accidentally got overwritten.  Also fixing a bug caught during the last code review where you would set the volume on the VideoPlayer, but the volumeBar wouldn't be made aware of that change.
Switching out the video component results in many API changes.  The changes are highlighted below:
    Class name changes:
    - spark.primitives.VideoElement is being renamed to spark.components.VideoDisplay
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamingVideoSource is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoSource
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamItem is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoItem
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer event changes:
The new video component's events are:
    - bytesLoadedChange : org.osmf.events.LoadEvent
    - currentTimeChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - durationChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - mediaPlayerStateChange : org.osmf.events.MediaPlayerStateChangeEvent
The old video component's events were:
    - close : spark.events.VideoEvent (removed)
    - complete : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - metaDataReceived : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - playheadUpdate : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with currentTimeChange)
    - progress : flash.events.ProgressEvent (replaced with bytesLoadedChange)
    - ready : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer property changes:
    Renames:
    - maintainAspectRatio:Boolean has been renamed to scaleMode:String and rather than true/false, it now access 4 values: none, zoom, letterbox, and stretch.  See the enum class org.osmf.display.ScaleMode.
    - playheadTime:Number has been renamed to currentTime:Number
    - playWhenHidden has been renamed to pauseWhenHidden, and it's "tense" has been reversed.  So playWhenHidden = true correlates to pauseWhenHidden = false.  Also, before we would only pause when the video component was explcitly set to visible=false, but now we detect if the video components or any of it's ancestors have been hidden.
    - totalTime:Number has been renamed to duration:Number
    New properties:
    - bytesLoaded:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - bytesTotal:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - loop: Boolean this was a property added a while ago on the old video component but not in the original video player spec
    - mediaPlayerState: this is a new property that details the state of the video component.  See org.osmf.media.MediaPlayerState for all the possible values.
    - seekToFirstFrame:Boolean (pending PARB approval) - This is a new property available on VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer.  When autoPlay = false, if seekToFirstFrame is set to true, then we will connect to the server to start downloading the video, figure out the size of the video and resize appropriately, and show the first frame of the video.  If seekToFirstFrame is false, then no connection to the server is made, there's no implicit size for this video, and the first frame will not be show automatically.  By default the value of this property is true.  In the old video component, when autoPlay = false, we always has the same behavior as seekToFirstFrame = true.  Now it is controllable through this property.  Eventually, (not for Flex 4.0), we will most-likely have support for a thumbnail source or a splash screen so the video's preview will show up without making an unneeded connection to the server.  The property name may change depending on PARB.
    Other changes:
    - autoRewind: The default of autoRewind is now true instead of false
    - enabled: before we paused the video when the video component was explicitly set to enabled = false.  Now we pause the video when the video component or any of it's ancestors have been disabled.
    VideoPlayer-only changes:
    - videoObject:flash.media.Video property is now a new property on VideoPlayer.  It was previously only on VideoDisplay.
    - The skin states for the old VideoPlayer were: connectionError, disabled, disconnected, loading, playing, stopped, connectionErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen, disconnectedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, stoppedAndFullScreen.  The new skin states are: uninitialized, loading, ready, playing, paused, buffering, playbackError, disabled, uninitializedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, readyAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, pausedAndFullScreen, bufferingAndFullScreen, playbackErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen
    DynamicStreamingVideoItem property changes:
    - bitRate:Number renamed to bitrate:Number
    DynamicStreamingVideoSource property changes:
    - initialIndex has been added to DynamicSteramingVideoSource
    - live:Boolean has changed to streamType:String which accepts values: live, recorded, any.  See the enum class org.osmf.net.StreamType for more info.
    - serverURI:String renamed to host:Object
    - streamItems:Array has changed types to streamItems:Vector.
ScrubBar property changes (THESE CHANGES ARE NOT DONE YET, BUT SHOULD BE DONE SOON)
    - bufferedStart will be removed
    - bufferedEnd will be renamed to loadedRangeEnd.  This property name still may change depending on PARB.
    - bufferedArea skin part needs to be renamed.  Probably will be renamed to loadedArea.  PARB still deciding.

I've got that same problem: iPod Touch 2nd Gen, Apple Component Cables, and an HD TV.

  • CS3 video component - which files to upload

When using a video component in CS3, and the movie is
rendered, does it, or does it not
take all 4 files to show the movie on the web.
1 question - may I please get an answer to this.
    Thank you,
    Luke wonderly

I've spent 3 WEKS trying, rerendering, going back to Adobe
    tutorials . .
    I KNOW it's something very simple . . . but I CAN'T GET PAST
    IT.
I've had several questions on this forum for over 3 weeks -
2 or 3 were answered - 1 saying go somewhere else and pay
more money to someone to do it for me -
I did - and am still screwed.
I have serious content - and (after my phone call to Adobe
    this Morn)
that will probably end up to be QT only.
NO FREAKIN FAULT OF MINE - I FREAKIN TRIED.
I've been EXTREMELY diligent in my efforts to make this work.
In 1999 I created HUNDREDS of Flash Virtual Reality Tours
    (along with QT)
that won State, Federal & special Congressional
    recognition & awards . . .
Flash 5 was very easy for me to learn, and produce content.
After investing in the CS3 Software, the training, and the
new computer to run it all on - I'm absolutely no further along
than I was when I started.
This has been a freakin nightmare - with VIRTUALLY no support
    and a complete indifferent attitude.

  • Flash video component problem

I used Flash CS3 to create an .swf that links to a .flv and
plays in a video component. When I upload it to my website created
in Dreamweaver MX, the video plays, put the component does not
    appear.
My question is this: Is the Flash CS3 video component
    compatible with Dreamweaver MX?
    thanks,

Have you tried adding a "trace" message to let you know when cue point is reached?
Have you tested the functions separately to varify that they work?
    Also I wonder about using
    if(evt.info.name == "01CreditIn")
    The .info part...
Here's a working example that on a certain "event" type cue point, fires a trace message and then loads a second movie
    ns.onCuePoint = function(evt:Object){
        trace(evt.name);
        trace(evt.time);
        if(evt.name == "play_vid1") {
            trace("YO!Loading wide_holder!");
            wide_holder.loadMovie("rm/images/black_bear.swf");
        if(evt.name == "play_vid2") {
      trace("YO!Loading standard_holder!");
            standard_holder.loadMovie("rm/images/sqis.swf");
Perhaps you can glean something from this.
    Best wishes,
