Beta test: PLUS Plugin for Lightroom. Protect your images.

Many of you on this forum are PLUS members or have contributed to the development of the PLUS standards. We are inviting all forum members to particpate in a beta test of a new Lightroom plugin developed by Timothy Armes that will allow Lightroom users to inject PLUS license statements into images on export. Companies around the world are building PLUS into their DAM systems, allowing them to ingest your rights information upon receiving your files, and to use automation to better manage images and to avoid infringement.
For those unfamiliar with PLUS, the PLUS Coalition is an international collaboration between all industries involved in creating, distributing, using and preserving images. Spanning 30 countries, PLUS is the largest photography-related organization, representing the interests of both owners and users. The Coalition has developed the Picture Licensing Universal System, an integrated system of standards approved by all industries, to simplify and facilitate the communication and management of image rights.
To receive a free copy of the beta version of the plugin, please email info at usePLUS.org
We thank Adobe for continued generous support of the PLUS initiative from the beginning. Adobe is a Leadership Circle member of PLUS.

Sweet! - and thanks for informing us.
I keep edited photos auto-published for screen-saving.... but my screen saver doesn't have the nice options of LrDisplay.
Thanks again,

  • Which are your favorite plugins for lightroom?

    hi
    just for curiosity
which are your favorite plugins for lightroom?
    thanks

    That's a very broad net you're casting.
I mean Flickr is flickr users favorite plugin, and those with Nik Collection may be fond of their Nik plugins...
Which plugin(s) you like / use really depends on the person and workflow.
I mean, I'm particularly fond of the plugins I've written, but that's because I understand how they work, they do what I want, and if ever I encounter a bug I fix it. But some people are not so fond of my plugins...
I have written over a 100 plugins, and use about 10% of them regularly, and about half of them not at all (the other 40% on an occasional basis).
In other words, plugins are a means to an end. If you have no desire for that end, you'll have no desire for the plugin that accomplishes it.
For example, TreeSyncPublisher is indispensible if you want to maintain an export tree external to Lightroom, but otherwise it may be useless. YMMV...
    Perhaps a better question is:
"What are some good sources for plugins so I could peruse and find those that may help me get my job(s) done?"
    Partial Answer:
    * Rob Cole
    * John Ellis
    * Jeffrey Friedl
    * John Beardsworth
(and be sure to visit the plugin exchange)
There are a lot of other great sources not mentioned here, and my apology in advance if I neglected you - nuthin' personal I assure you...
Sorry - I realize this wasn't exactly the answer you were looking for. I could give you a list of plugins I use most, but I fear it would not be of much value to you, since you probably would use a totally different cross section. Feel free to contact me outside the forum with questions about specific plugins.

  • Are we Beta testing the N97 for Nokia?

Because if i was given this as a beta release i would have told them what i thought, the current launch version on the N97 with V10 firmware is barely an Alpha release, this phone was a rush job thrown out on the market to coincide with the launch of the iphone 3Gs.
This is my fourth N series, N80, N95, N95 8gb (the best N series yet), and now this N97 what should be Nokia's flagship, but being stripped of apps and filled with Trial versions to please the accountants at Nokia.
Day one and it locked up twice, corrupted my contacts when synced with OVI, and ran down to less than 4mb on the C drive, day 2 i found the GPS was not working, it was a joke, walking down the road under a clear sky and it could not hold a signal lock, driving was worse barely holding a signal for a few seconds and as for sitting spinning it round for an age to get the compass to work........forget it id rather be lost than look like a **bleep**.
Deleting apps and reinstalling them on the mass memory frees up some space, but why should we have to do this, the whole phone is badly thought out and configured.
Soon after the stylus supplied with the phone and attached to the phones only tie point scratched my screen, what was wrong with a rear cover with a bump and a thin PDA style stylus, no not good enough for Nokia, a fat thing on a string will do for them.
New Firmware release 4 days after UK launch and still not available to most users as it has not been network approved yet, 3 network say its Nokia's job and they are delaying things, Nokia say its the networks delay. Come on if it was needed that quickly why leave most of your customers waiting, or just get to work on a layered OS with a standardised core with a network layer, so everyone can have the updated without waiting.
4 weeks in on this phone, i too have the scratched camera lens, still No working GPS, and having some good negotiations with Three to try to reverse the contact upgrade, as i don't think another N97 will last any longer than this one.
I see Nokia spending Millions on punting the N97, TV, Billboards, Net adds, why push so hard on what is a sub standard product, could you imagine Joe public trying to free off some memory by moving apps, tell the care centres to brace themselves the N97 flood will be coming their way.
What next, well if 3 don't cancel the upgrade, then Nokia will have to fix my phone again and again and again untill it works as advertised, in the mean time i am off to get in touch with watchdog so they can let Joe Public know what to expect from an N97.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't believe we're beta testing the N97 for Nokia. Beta testing suggests it is in a state prior to production. Nokia's track record (at least to me) seems that leading edge phones never reach a stable plateau.
What I believe happens is the phone is released and remains unstable until they sort of perfect the platform, then a new handset is released bringing a whole new world of bugs and problems and so the cycle continues.
By the time the phone is suitable for every day use it is, by today's technological stance, ancient and the damage has already been done to the reputation.
S40 phones seem to fare much better, mainly because it is much more widely used within Nokia. S60 is up against some fine competition from vendors who will rush fixes out.. Nokia only ever seems to rush phones out. It isn't the same and it shows (see their forcast for the next 6 months)
I honestly would not be surprised if this flagship phone limps on in a partially functional state until it is superceeded by a budget blackberry clone.
Sad? Very! Am I being cynical, or telling it like it is.
I'd be real interested to know if any exec at Nokia used the N97 in the weeks before it was released.. Not that I'm a fan, but we all know Stevie J used an iphone long before it was released.. I kind of get the impression they must all use very basic "corporate" s40 handsets and assume their flagship product must be of the same calibre.
Next release, why not give 100 people N97 for testing, real testing.  It seems Nokias quality assurance team is out of touch with what a $700 handset demands.. ooooh, I gasp in awe at your 30 MB of free capactity when you remove ALL the applications you can. (It's like having a 2TB hard drive in a computer and continuing to boot from a floppy)
I appreciate there are product time lines to meet, but if Nokia were aiming to compete with the likes of the pre, iphone and the various android handsets (not even mentioning windows mobile) rushing out a phone like this was very wide of the mark. Concept wise, the N97 is a great design.. the implementation of both the hardware and software just isn't going to cut it in todays market..
(but this is what they want? you'll get bored with the handset and buy a replacement! yeay!)

  • How do you use Elements 10 as plugin for Lightroom 4

Have been trying to use Elements 10 as plugin for Llightroom 4.2.  When I try to use prefences it can not find Elements 10.  What am I doing wrong.  It only shows videos of Mac not Pc

On a windows system it would better to link to the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10 (64 bit system)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10 (32 bit system)
    In Lightroom: Edit>Preferences>External Editing

  • Iweb 08 and SlideShow Pro 1.0.3 plugin for Lightroom 1.3.1

I have an iweb site I did last year using iweb 06 and slide show pro with the iphoto plugin and then used the slide show pro in Flash. www.mattmosher.com
That worked great just paste the html code into the exported iweb site and put the slide show folder and swf file in the folder and it worked great.
    NOW
iweb 08 and slide show pro for lightroom gives you a realtime visuals of your slide show. Awesome plugin.
However when I paste the code into my html document the slide show does not show up. It also generates 2 swf files named loader and slideshow pro. Along with 2 xml files named param.xml, images.xml along with a js file swfobject.js
I really do not know how to fix the problem.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this topic???

I don't want to sound mean, but you should'nt have got any firmware updates from any other site other than Apple's or through iTunes, I'm afraid. I think that's where the problem has come from.

  • Hi, can someone exlain the operation of plugins for lightroom?

I see where you can install them, as I have downloaded some from the exchange site, but there is no help on how to use them, where to click, no readme file, nada. Is it some sorta mind meld thing? Thanks for any help in this regard.
    FH

For example, LRMogrify. No idea. No readme. No instructions for use on the adobe site where downloaded. It's installed and running and expected to see some option somewhere related to export, but see none. What to do...I don't even remember where it was downloaded from, there is no about this plugin. Lightroom developers need to rethink this one. It's not so hard in Photoshop or any other program that has plugs.

  • What happens when the beta test of iCloud for iWork is over?

They asked me to participate in a beta test which stores iWork in the cloud. Not 100% on all the specifics but I was wondering/worried if when the trail is over will all my documents saved there be lost?

Good question, as soon as Apple announces anything we ll find out. I do have some documents there as well.
Probably I should back them up ASAP, just in case.

  • Camera Raw Plugin for Lightroom 4

When I try and edit a CR2 file in Lightroom (LR) 4, I keep getting a message that this version of LR requires a photoshop camera raw plugin of 7.4 or full compatibility. I get the option to cancel, render using LR which coverts this to a tiff file or open as a tiff file. I cannot find this version of camera raw plug in on your site. I am using Lightroom 5. Please advise.

    Hi Amy,
I'm a bit confused, you say you're tring to edit in LR4, but then say you're using LR5.
Personally, I import my CR2 files into LR5 as DNG's and have no problem editing them in straight LR5 or the other plugins I have from Topaz and NIK using Photo>Edit in>plugin-name. One advantage of using DNG's is they are smaller file sizes than CR2's, and are "future compatible", according to Adobe.

  • Workflow/Method/Plugin for clients to rate images

I was wondering if anyone uses a web module method or workflow or plugin that would allow clients/visitors to rate images, and also allow them to be able to change/update the ratings they may have previously given image(s).
Example, would be much like the LR1+2 allows us to rate images and then group, view, etc images based on ratings.
I'm sure there are tons of html/php scripts that can do this... but I was hoping to apply this directly within LR2 and my workflow as some kind of output.
I'm thinking because of the need to allow clients/visitors to be able to alter/update rating numbers, I would ned to implement a database or maybe an updatable XML file listing the images.
The closest thing I can find is TTG Client Response Gallery, but that doesn't provide for what I really need (for visitor to be able to return and update rating).
    Anybody have any clues?

  • Adobe revel for lightroom 5, unsafe

I recently upgraded to lightroom 5, so..had to download & reinstall the Adobe Revel export plugin. After a frustrating time installing the thing..it worked for one day. Then...my Norton Security quarantined it, stating it was exhibiting unusual behaviour, and it was from an untrusted source ( cloudnet.net)  so, am stuck because when i try to install the plugin from "cloudnet.net".. my Norton security quarantines it. I delved into the workings of "cloudnet.net", and found that it is associated with "Delta Search" another site noted for malware & spyware, and other malicious adware. Where can i get a safe Revel plugin for lightroom?...

It appears that  the Delta Search software found its way to your computer independently of Revel or Lighrroom and may be interfering with your installation of hte plugin.
    http://www.bitdefender.com/tech-assist/self-help/how-to-remove-delta-search.html
Bitdefender describes it like this and offers suggestions as to how to remove it:
Many users complain they have been tricked into installing third party toolbars that may overwrite default settings in their browsers such as the home page or the preferred search engine.
    http://www.bitdefender.com/tech-assist/self-help/how-to-remove-delta-search.html
It should not be related to either Revel or Lightroom.

  • Giving your UUID away for beta testing.

Are there any reasons not to provide your UUID in order for others to beta test your app?
What does the UUID enable for someone else that they can then run your app? I always see the UUID blocked out in examples as if it is a security concern.

I see people do the same thing with license plates on auto related forums. Since it uniquely identifies that one device I guess there is a possibility that somehow, somewhere someone could use it to impersonate the device. I use the UDID to identify devices for a Web Service I have built. I have security measures in place so that it would be very difficult for someone to impersonate my client software however so UDID spoofing is really not an issue for my application.

  • Muvo TX and MusicMatch Plus for DRM-protected so

I just bought a Muvo TX and I am trying to use it with Musicmatch Jukebox Plus. For songs that I have ripped from CD, it works fine - MMJB recognizes the Muvo and happily downloads the songs. However, for WMA files that I have purchased from MusicMatch store, I get an error about the song not having "download to portable rights." I have also tried moving songs to the Muvo with the Creative MediaSource application. It gets an error while transferring the DRM-protected songs too. Has anyone got this combination to work? MusicMatch says on its website that it works with Muvo NX, so I optimistically assumed that the TX would be ok too.
    Other info:
    - Windows 98SE, MMJB 9 (latest version)
    - Upgraded to latest Creative MediaSource app 2.03.29 with latest Muvo TX plugin for Win98.
    - Haven't upgrade the firmware of the Muvo TX because when I try to do it, the upgrade program doesn't detect the device.
    - Waiting for response from MusicMatch tech support.
    Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks,
    -Mike S.

Jeremy - I think MusicMatch is fully intending to allow songs purchased from them be downloaded into portable players. They specifically say on their website that they support many players including the Creative Muvo Nx - and since the TX is the same thing just with USB 2.0, I thought it likely it would work.
To just say it's not allowed is probably giving up too easy ... especially since the TX supports DRM and is part of the MS "Play for Sure" program - as is the MusicMatch store. That's the whole idea of this Microsoft program - that songs I buy at online music stores will work with my devices!
I am still waiting for MusicMatch to respond to my question. Ideally, it seems like it would make sense for Creative to test their devices with the major online stores (MusicMatch, Walmart, etc.). Do you know if this has been done? If so, what combinations are known to work?
My hope is that I just don't have the right combination of software versions and can upgrade. To find out it can't work would be very frustrating.
    -Mike S.
