Better organization of audio files
My iTunes audio library has too many Mp3 files, so when i start itunes up it lags for 3-6 seconds before all my files show up and when i scroll down the list it not only takes ages but is chunky when it scrolls.
Is there a way to make it display only the artist in the library so the artist can be expanded to albums and tracks?
eg.
Artist
|->Album1
|->Album2
|->Album3

I still don't quite understand.
You should have columns for album and genre etc in in the main library view. You can set the columns to display by right clicking on the header row and checking the fields you want to see.
If the columns are displayed and there is nothing in them, is there something wrong with you ID3 tags?
Can you see Genre, artist and album correctly in the browse view?
If you just mean that you have a very large library and it is slow to load, I am not sure you can do anything about that.

Thank you for your recommendation. I understand the challenges of managing large numbers of files on the My Files page. I also understand the need to preserve project files.
Perhaps a compromise would be to create an Archive tab under My Files. Previous versions and retired project files could then be automatically moved into this holding area when a new version is published, thus preserving the files in a separate area that is still accessible to the author.
I will submit this suggestion to our product management team to consider as a future enhancement. -
PSE 9 Organizer error codec trying to add an Elements audio file to slide show
I am using PSE 9 to build a slide show. When I add audio, I can use mp3's from my music library in the slide show without any issues ...
but I am getting the following error when I try to add an Elements audio file (example " A _Taste_Of_Sicily.mp3)
This is the Organizer error message:
"Unable to add the audio file (C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ElementsOrganizer\8.0\Music\A_Taste_Of_Sicily.mp3).
The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compresser/decompresser(codec) installed."
I had PSE 8 and upgraded to PSE 9 - I noticed the error file detail shows 8.0 - Is this my problem - maybe an incomplete upgrade ? (I've made several slideshows mixing photos and music, on an older computer using PSE 8 and never ran into this issue.)
Below is my system info in case that helps:

Does that file extension really have a space in it? If so, remove the space.

How to organize the orders of audio files in ipod?
Hey guys, I'm having a problem in organizing the audio files on my ipod, I wish you could help me out. I transferred some language lessons to my ipod, however they are not in order. If they are just songs it's OK, but for language lessons you really want them to be in order. Anybody can teach me how to arrange the order of audio files on ipod? Thanks a lot!

And the file names were already in order (i.e. French001,French002...) but they appear on itune & ipod in different order.

Cutting and saving individual video and audio files from a clip
I have to cut 201 individual video and audio files for separate scenes from an 11-minute animated episode and save them as separate MP4 video and MP3 audio files. What is the most efficient way to do this?
Without knowing more about your project, it's hard to even guess at the most efficient workflow.
Like: Do these clips have audio or are you adding it? What format are these clips? What is the intended delivery for the 11 minute movie?
As a general matter, one creates an event, imports clips to it. Then organizes the clips according to the needs of job, using keyword collections and ratings. Then creates a project and starts a rough cut by marking ranges in the event browser and editing to the time line. Some people start with the music, making that the primary storyline mark where they want the edit to be and cut to that.
Upon finishing, one can choose one or more of the "destination" presets. It's possible to export Audio only or Video only or both. MP3 is one of the audio choices. Some of the presets are MP4. If you want possibly better quality and more control, export the files as master files and encode in Compressor.

How can I match tempo & sync of old audio files to Garageband?
HI all,
Final question and it's a doozy. While I know the "general concepts" for trying to accomplish the following, acutally trying to get it to work is frustrating. At first thought that the new Garageband tempo/playing thing would work but I'm not being successful. Perhaps there are better programs for this. I am moderately aware of the beat/slicing/tempo tap programs -- I just don't have the lets-do-it-detail to make it work. Here is the goal.
#0 - New DAW file is created in either Garageband or Logic Pro.
#1 - I have old stereo MP3 and AIFF files digitally dubbed from old cassettes, some recorded 30 and 20 years ago. Most were recorded to click track or drum machine. Newer tracks are MIDI but my first tracks are purely audio.
#2 - I drag an audio file (MP3 or AIFF) into either Garageband or Logic Pro. The track becomes an audio track.
#3 -- I need to edit off the beginnings of these tracks. If Garagebands new tempo sync thing is enabled, you can't seem to do this. Once the track is playing -- the tempo should be moderately consistently (The originals often used a Roland TR 707 ??? drum machine). However, the tempo might not be perfect and I might need flexibility.
So, how do I ACTUALLY DO THIS?
#4 - The goal is to get the NEW song template to match it's tempo to the audio track. The song now has the correct tempo that (hopefully) perfectly matches the original track.
#5 - If this works, the old audio track is like an old temp track that is frozen in place.
#6 - I record new fresh tracks against this backing tracking. Voila, I have a newly semi-produced or at least recorded song based on the old recording.
Sounds easy but the devil is in the tricky details. Thanks for any tips, suggestions, references to forums, blogs, YouTube videos or books.
I am open to other software as well.

JohnAttach your welcome audio to an object that is not seen (e.g. a highlight box set to 0%) and use your Advanced Actions and variables to HIDE this object ON SLIDE ENTER if the user returns to the same Menu slide at a later point in the course module.
This should mean that the first time the user gets to that slide, the audio will play. But all subsequent times they return to that slide, the object will be immediately hidden on entering the slide, which will mean that the audion does not play and all the user sees are the menu options.
Your alternate strategy would be to have two slides that look almost the same. The first one has the audio, and the second one doesn't. Your TOC item for Menu, and any other links in the project that point to the Menu, would go to the second slide without audio. The user will be none the wiser as long as you work out the navigation. -
How can I transfer a WMA audio file with DRM into iTunes?
Is it possible to transfer a DRM, WMA audio lecture file that I download onto my Dell Inspirion laptop into iTunes? I can purchase and download the file using Windows Media. My goal is to get the audio file onto an iPod Nano. The organization that sells these lectures does not support Macintosh at this time and is only supporting Windows based machines.
The Dell laptop uses Windows XP as its operating system.

How do I properly manage audio files with iTunes?
Hello Dear Readers,
I am going to start using iTunes exclusively for my music collection management. Previously, I had only used iTunes for managing content for my iPhone 4. Now, I am wanting to import all of my media (music) files into iTunes for general use and playback.
For example, I have over 3,000 music files, and I would like to know the best way to get them into iTunes. From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the *best* way to do this. For example, can I just*move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?
Will iTunes *move*the files that it is able to manage OUT of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes. Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes? Thanks for your advice and opinions!
There is also the issue of what to do with the commercial CDs I have (less than 50). I would like to discard these and just maintain them on digital form, e.g., my 2 TB hard drive. However, I am getting varying opinions as to how to do this. I need 2 things: 1) to archive the CDs for retrieval later in case I need the songs that are on them, and 2) MP3 versions of the audio CD files for use on my flash drive which plays on my car audio system. These would also be the files that I manage in iTunes.
Some people have suggested using Exact Audio Copy to make a FLAC and a LAME MP3 copy of myCDs. Others have suggested keeping an ISO copy of the compact discs for reference archive. Personally, I am wondering if I should just import my commercial CDs directly into iTunes, and then pay Apple $25 annually to maintain copies of these, as announced by Steve Jobs at the WWDC that this cloud functionality was forthcoming.
I am in need of some informed, educated opinions and suggestions as to how I should proceed.
Then, there is also the naming convention of the files. When the files get ripped from CD, I can add the freedb information to them for the ID3 tagging. However, I need to know how to specify in what system that the file names are comprised. This is what I am thinking of as my folder and file name format, at this point.
For the naming scheme of the audio files, I am proposing the following:
For most music by 1 artist on a disc, I would do as follows:
Folder Name: AlbumArtist - Album Title (year)
File Names: Track number (from 1 on up, with NO leading zeros) Track Title
For compilations with various artists, I would use the following for the schema:
Folder Name: VariousArtists (album artist) - Album Title (year)
File Names: Track number (1 on up) Track Title - Track Artist.
Do these seem like reasonable naming schemes that would be good for using on all audio software and equipment, such as my iPhone, my car audio flash drive player, and in iTunes?
I know that this is a lot to ask, but I am just trying to learn how to do things correctly and most efficiently so that I don't have problems down the road with my iTunes library. I welcome input, discussion and of course, dissent! Thanks!

Help with adding audio files to page
I am using DW CS5. I have had numerous troubles adding audio files to any page. Please know that I am not at all computer savy when it comes to html codes etc. But I have been working with DW CS5 and have a functional website and my pages validate. That being said, please be patient with me if I am asking stupid questions or don't understand the solution.
Now to the problem....I originally wanted to add mp3 files...but I am not sure how to work with plugins or which plugin to use.
Therefore, I converted my mp3 files to swf and used the insert media file feature in DW CS5. But when I look at the finished page...I only see a big white box. Nothing happens when you click on it.
First question...which is the best method to add audio files?
Second question...what steps do I need to follow achieve the desired result?
Note: there is one validation error on this page and I'm not sure why or how to fix it. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.

The following audio files were created by Virginia (Stasik) Zarow at the request of Laura (Stasik) Schmidt and Carrie (Stasik) Kot. There were a total of five cassette tapes, ranging from 1 hour to a 1 1/2 halfs in length. Scott Freeson converted each tape to digital format and then they were broken down into various segments for a total of 7 audio files. It is recommended that you listen to each tape in the order presented to maintain the proper timeline and context.<br /><br /></p>
<p class="standardparagraph">The first five audio files were recorded by Aunt Virginia in response to questions posed by Laura (Stasik) Schmidt and her sister Carrie (Stasik) Kot. Aunt Virginia re-recorded her responses in August 2009 after noticing some mistakes in the original recording.<br />

Currently if you click on the play button another window pops up which has the play/control/stop buttons to control the audio file. The attribute is set to new window. If I change the attribute to parent window, then the page that has the control buttons overlays ontop of the page with the link.
To get back to the original page, one must click on the back arrow near the address bar.
Isn't there a way to not have a separate window appear? In other words, the controls are embeded into the parent page? -
In logic Pro, when I open up an audio track or software track and load an audio file/loop or software file loop, there is no sound. I will finally get a sound out of one of the audio or software tracks after opening at least 5 of them alternately. Is anyone familiar with this kind of bug? Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. You are doing a disservice by not contributing positively and by trying to make this forum what you want it to be. Slideshow, how to make clip the same length as audio file?

I've got several PowerPoint presentations and need to make an MP4 video file for each of them. I know how to export the slides as still images, and I also have the audio files broken up into individual mp3 files that match each slide.
I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way of getting the slides and audio files synced in Premiere Elements.
Yesterday I imported all of the png images and mp3 audio files into my project. But I had to individually add each image, followed by the mp3, and then in the timeline manually stretch the image to make it last the same length of time as the audio file. It was rather tedious and I have a lot of presentations with many slides to work with. I'm sure there must be some better way to make all of this happen, right?
Can anyone help me out here?
1. Is there a way to make the image clip match the time of the audio clip?
2. Is there a way to import all of the audio and image files at once (given they have the same names) and have PE automatically associate the image clip with the audio file?
Thanks, Derek1. You can place the audio file in the Audio 1 track of the timeline first (Timeline, not sceneline)
2. Next drop the image to where the audio file starts. Now press "\" key
3. Drag the end of the clip to exactly where the audio ends. Whe you are near the end of the audio with the drag it should simply stick to it.
4. Group the audio and image file together (Right click and select group after selecting both these together)
5. Select the clip and do a right click and use the Fade-In and out option. You can fade in the video and let the audio simply continue. This makes it look and sound good.
6. Place the next audio file and go on doing the same till all of them are done. The grouping step is not needed but when you keep working with PRE, you might just thank me for it!
I tried all these steps just as I was typing this post, so I can tell you for sure that PrE10 works as if it is designed JUST for this use case. So hoping you get to complete the project on time and with good quality! -
EXS crashes logic 9.1.8 when loading an audio file
Hi,
I have a problem building sampler instruments in EXS24.
I am replacing samples in an instrument I created myself. After a short while loading new samples into the zones logic will crash, usually when I am scrolling to the new sample/audio file I want to load. The audio files are on a FW400 external Lacie drive.
I am on a new 2013 iMac with 2.9Ghz i5 on 10.8.3 with logic pro 9.1.8. So far I have tried switching to the built-in audio interface and re-indexing the folder that contains the samples in Spotlight. Anyone out there with better ideas?

You need to explin your workflow better.
The "Save" action may be initiated by a "Share" or "Export" option depending on the app you are using. For instance, QT 7 Pro has "Save", "Save As...", "Share...", "Export...", and "Export for Web..." options depending on what you are specificly trying to do. On the other hand, QT X may have "Duplicate", "Export...", Export To", and/or "Share" options for various goals.
Are you trying to record a new audio file using a mic, extract and save an audio track from a video, export audio from a video file, save an internet audio file that opened in the QT player, save an online audio file, etc? -
Problem using text boxes as the "image" to drag and drop over audio file
I have been adding audio files to my page in iWeb (previous version, not '08), but I am having a problem giving them titles.
When you first drag a file from iTunes into iWeb, it provides a space for you to drag and drop a picture. The online iWeb guide also says that you can drag a text box there instead of a picture.
I created a text box with the text I would like to drop over the controller. However, it is no longer allowing me to drop the text box there. I used to be able to do this, and I don't know what I'm doing differently now. Any suggestions?

-- Willfoobar2000 with the ipod plugin will allow you to drag/drop FLAC files and when it syncs the ipod, it converts the FLAC files on the fly. MUCH better than dealing with the crappy iTunes interface and having to pre-convert the files. I absolutely loathe iTunes and it just gets worse and worse!

Assistance needed in trying to import MP3 audio file into Slide Show
I get the following message when trying to import an MP3 audio file into a slideshow in Organizer 9 "The selected file can not be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor(codec) installed. I am pulling the file from my Itunes folder and I have not had problems with any other file I have downloaded from itunes and changed to an MP3 format. Does anyone have any ideas? I really want to use this song in a slideshow for my parents 50th Anniversary.
Best GUESS is that DRM is getting in the way of the file being used outside of iTunes (DRM = Digital Rights Mgmt = Copy Protection)
