I have an apple iphone 4gs... It is synced with my outlook exchange in the office. If I do a search for emails that also checks the server then all of a sudden I end up with various amounts unread email with the inbox saying "Inbox 71" ..which is not true. The only way to make the inbox on the iphone back to 0 is to delete the account then re install it.
    Anyone have any ideas

  • Search for Emails and place them on a array

I have the following asp/vbscript code that search for the
content of a folder with text files. I need someone to help me out
to modify the code to automatically search for email addresses on
each text file and place them on an array.

Passwords are stored in the password files (encrypted).
Bookmarks are stored in the bookmarks file.
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your
Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more.
In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild
your saved files individually into installable .xpi files.
It will also make backup of files that you choose.

  • How can I search for email senders and/or email subject(s)?

I'm probably not savvy enough to figure this out. When I search, e.g. for "Katie" I get to look at several messages where she is cc'd. I also receive messages from "Katie." How do I search for them? I know they are there because I just sent one to trash the other day. I suspect there are a number of them in trash. The only way I seem to be able to access them is to scroll...and that's a bummer.

    Hello.
*You can click in the search field in the ThunderBird toolbar.
*Type the words you are looking for such as email the email address
*Hit enter or select an auto completion choice
    To narrow search results:
*Click any year, month or day to show only results from that time. Click the looking glass to zoom out.
*If you cannot see the timeline, click the timeline icon in the top right corner.
*Hover over any filter, person, folder, tag, account or mailing list in the left pane to see where in time and on the timeline the messages matching the filter are located.
To exclude persons, folders or other criteria from search results:
*Click the unwanted person, tag, etc..
*Select can't be… from the menu that comes up.
To reduce results to a particular contact, account or other criterion:
*Click the desired person, folder, etc..
*Select must be… from the menu that comes up.
    To filter your search results:
*Check From Me to see only messages sent from one of your email addresses.
*Check To Me that include you as a recipient.
*Check Starred to see only starred messages.
*Check Attachments to see only messages that include attached files.
To open any message, click its subject line in search results. To act on multiple messages or see more details, click Open as list at the top of the results list.
I got this from [http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/Search_Mail_in_Mozilla_Thunderbird.htm here]. Go ahead and click that link if you need anymore help! Cheers.

  • Spotlight search for emails outside of iMail

    Hi all,
By default, spotlight searches in iMail. I use another email client (Airmail) and I would like to include it in spotlight searches. Is that possible?
    Thanks

I have just found this on MacWorlds site...
    http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/11/15/spotlightanlaysis/index.php
Spotty Symbol Searches Spotlight’s handling of non-alphanumeric characters is quite strange. Try searching for a dollar value you know you’ve got in some file, for instance. When I searched for $150, I got matches for all files that contained 150, but not necessarily the dollar sign. Similarly, I was looking for a piece of Unix code that I knew contained %i. So I searched on that term, and Spotlight found 99,271 matches, only a couple of which had the %i string I was looking for. So maybe Spotlight just ignores the non-alphanumeric characters?
That doesn’t seem to be the case at all, as a search for just i found 298,436 matches (and took a long time to run!). So just what’s happening here? If it’s ignoring the non-alphanumeric characters, I should have seen the same number of matches in both searches. But I didn’t, so what exactly is it doing with them?
Has anyone found a workaround for this?
    Thanks,
    Ivan

  • Spotlight search for email

If I do a spotlight search (IOS7.02) on a phrase I get a hit on an email but I cannot find this email in any of my accounts - inboxes, sent or trash. Any ideas?

I have the same issue.  Just received a new MacBook Air with our Corporate image on it.  I recovered my old data onto it and setup Outlook 2011 and Mail but Spotlight doesn't search in either one anymore.  On my old MacBook with Mountain Lion on it, it worked just fine.  I've tried the suggestions of deleting the index files using the Terminal app and I tried the adding and deleting the HD in Privacy settings in Spotlight Preferences and rebooting, but still nothing.
Help please.  Driving me crazy not being able to search for old emails.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • How can I view a searched-for email that's part of a conversation?

At work, we have an email account dedicated to the support emails that are sent out. They are automated and have the same title so they come up in the same conversation. And there's a lot (over 6000).
When searching, say, by a username, there is only one email in this search result. The little number-with-the-arrow comes up, but it says only 1. The preview displays the correct email. So far, so good. I've found the email. It exists.
    BUT...
The arrow cannot be clicked to drop-down the one email.
The right-hand window does NOT display the search result email.
The right-hand window with the full emails shows the most recent emails, starting at the newest, and only up to 100.
Most emails do not fall within that 100 email range, and even looking through 100 still defeats the purpose of a search function.
    Is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance!

Go to Mail > Preferences > Viewing (tab on top) and uncheck "View Related Messages".

  • I installed a new bigger hard drive and now spotlight does not work with outlook to search for emails

My old hard drive was full so I went to an apple authorized provider to install a new bigger hard drive. They also moved the data and applications from my old drive to the new one. They did not use time capsule because their way was faster. After the installation I did have to reenter the product code key for Office 2011 for the Mac. However, now I find that I cannot do email spotlight searches in Outlook. When I put in the search - it comes up with no results. This is true no matter what the search. Any ideas of how to point spotlight to look in the email folders so I can do searches again. This is a feature I use daily - so I am concerned that I have lost this feature. Also, I am noticing that alot of the settings did not carry over to the new hard drive. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would recommend starting over and migrate using your Time Capsule backup however DO NOT do it wirelessly, connect using an Ethernet Connection. If you upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard then follow the instructions in this video, the kid is annoying but he knows what he's doing. Clean Install Of Snow Leopard video. Once you have installed and updated Snow Leopard then update using the 10.6.8 Update Combo, then log into the Mac App Store and re-install Lion and all it's updates. My guess this is an afternoons work.

  • Better language for email polling, C# or C++?

There's currently a small internal debate over what language we should be writing an email polling service.
It is a part of a much broader system. Various accounts will be set up, and emails will be pulled from them and then encrypted and stored in a database.
As it is part of a larger system we are planning on using an ORM such as Entity Framework and have a DAL or C# API to handle all things database. C# .NET has a solid networking API and some mail related stuff already, as well as solid encryption.
    Concerns surrounding using C++ include;
Having to write network code from scratch (limited on external library use)
Can not use Entity Framework or the C# database API, would require database code to be repeated in 2 languages allowing for transfer of bugs, more time taken etc..
Encryption.. The clients are going to be .NET and so we want to use .NET encryption from start to finish so that encryption is standardized throughout
Later in the projects life we want to support more than just Pop3 and IMAP, Microsoft provide a managed API for it's exchange web services. To achieve this in C++ is not elegant and not recommended by Microsoft
What are the advantages of using C++ in this scenario if any?

    Hi Lee,
first of all: I would choose C# for the task.
That said, C++ does have some advantages:
Better control over memory usage (it's especially easier to vanish sensitive information from memory)
Having to build it up from scratch means you can optimize performance to your specific needs.
I don't see how that would justify adding that much more work-hours though.
    Cheers,
    Fred
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  • Any better option for email than iCloud?

I've endured iCloud for long enough.  Apple keeps promising to get it working, rebranding MobileMe as iCloud, but still delivering a badly flawed product.
I've never had such an unreliable email service in all the years I've used the internet, which goes back to the days of bulletin boards before the internet was available.
I've had large numbers of emails deleted to oblivion, emails disappear then reappear, and yesterday 400+ emails retagged as "unread".
Now people are ringing me to say emails sent to me are bouncing back.  Even the unsolicited discounts and extensions of service offered by Apple don't make up for such an unacceptably shoddy service that is just unreliable.
Does anyone with similar experiences have suggestions for a better alternative email system?

Paid systems offer higher reliability and retention than free. Your choice.

  • Unable to search for emails on webmail

we have a single user who is unable to search emails from web-mail . whenever try to search emails using any keywords on web-mail it returns no results. Please suggest.
    Aditya Mediratta

    Hi Aditya Mediratta,
If only one user has this issue, I suggest run Get-MailboxFolderPermission command to double check the permission.
Also suggest move the single user's mailbox to another database, some issue will be auto-fixed.
If all the methods above don't work or multiple users have this issue, I suggest rebuild the search catalog. More details to refer following similar thread:

  • Search for emails sent from specific email address

We have an iSeries that has 3rd party software on it that we send invoices, notices, etc. to customers. We always use the same from email address, [email protected], and I'm wondering if there is a way to look in Exchange to see all of the emails sent out
through that email address? I have the mailbox added to my Outlook, but if I look in the Sent Items, its just blank. Is there something in Exchange that allows me to view all messages sent from this email address, even though it was sent from another server?
    Thanks.

    This will help:
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/searching-message-tracking-logs-by-email-subject/
    So in your example:
    Get-MessageTrackingLog -Sender [email protected]
    -Start "1/01/2014 00:00:00"  -MessageSubject "Test"
    etc

  • Each time I open my MacBook something called "Bigfoot" searches for emails etc

Does this happen to anyone else?
And how can I stop this happening?

One quick and dirty solution, assuming that you never delete the data files, is to do a directory scan, get the number of files in the directory, and append that number on to your file name.  (Then for safety sake, use a simple loop that checks if file already exists, if it does, increment your count by one, and try again.)
Simple design here, a bit crude, but gets the idea across.
Oh, am not sure when they were added, but the two colored file subVI's are 'Get File Extension.vi' and 'Check if File Exists.vi' in the File I/O -> Advanced File Functions sub-pallet.

  • When I search for email in Apple Mail in Lion on my MacBook Air, vast numbers of emails are not found. Problem has been experienced from day 1 with computer.

Title says it all pretty much.

    I finally found a solution. In about:config, under browser.sessionhistory.max_entries, I changed 5 to 20. End of problem.
