Better search/indexing capability for the Idea Exchange Forums

Now that we are getting more ideas posted to the idea exchange it would be helpful if we could have an improved indexing and search capability. This would help to reduce the number of duplicate ideas posted. I know I have ended up posting a couple of duplicates even after searching.

If you ever have a specific example of the search not finding a related idea, please post it here. When I've gotten feedback about this before and then tried to search myself, it seemed like the related idea always came up. I definitely would like a specific case that I could give to our forum vendor.
I do agree, the Google like feature with misspelled words would be very helpful and I'll pass along that suggestion.

Updated Process for the Ideas Exchange

Hey folks! Spotify Community team here.
If you've been around the Spotify Community for a while, you've probably noticed that we keep tabs on your suggestions for improving Spotify through our Idea Exchange.
In an effort to keep the Idea Exchange as organized and up-to-date as possible, we've changed the way Ideas are submitted. We've outlined the new process with a step-by-step guide below.
We hope that you continue submitting ideas to make Spotify even better. While we can't promise that we'll implement every idea that you submit, but we'll always do our best consider each one and provide updates wherever possible.
The guidelines:
Search for previously submitted ideas. Someone may have already submitted the same idea.
One idea per post. No double dipping.
Ensure the idea is implementable. Avoid posting general feedback or questions in the idea exchange--the more specific the idea the better.
Use an intuitive title.
Submitting a new idea:
1. Go to the Idea Submissions Board.
2. Click the New Idea button.
3. Enter an Idea Subject that includes one of the tags above.
4. In the Body enter a detailed description of your idea, including any screenshots or links you'd like to share.
5. Select one a platform label.
6. Then select a subcategory label.
7. Click Post.
8. One of our Idea Guardians in the Rock Star Program will analyze the idea and mark it either as a "Live Idea" or close it for a specified reason (duplicate idea, unspecified, etc). Allow us to introduce our Idea Guardians: Marco, FredJ, gprocess, Peter, dinomight, Anthony, pnc, Jordi, kbrooksc, Carina, OviiiOne, and Rodrigo.
9. If your idea reaches the Live Idea board it can then start to gain kudos and comments from other users.
10. Once your idea reaches 100+ kudos a Community Manager or Moderator will update the status to one of the following:
The Idea statuses:
New Suggestion (no status/default one): the idea was just posted, it is waiting to be reviewed by an Idea Guardian.
New Idea: this is a new and unique idea, you can add your kudos here.
Inactive Idea: Ideas that could not gather at least 25 kudos per year will get closed - you can submit this idea again if you still feel the topic should get some attention. We recommend changing the title or description if posting the same idea again.
Good Idea, give it some kudos: We like this idea. A decision has not been made but we want to see how much the Community continues to vote on it.
Under Consideration: This has been brought up internally.
Watch this space: This feature is coming. We have a rough pipeline for its release.
Not right now: We talked about this internally and it’s not on our pipeline for the next few months or more.
Case Closed: We talked about it, but we won’t be running with it. Thanks anyway!
Implemented: This feature has rolled out on the specific platform.
Needs more info: We need more clarity or information around this idea from the original poster.

Ah, yes, now I see it. For those of us with less than perfect vision, how about putting the text in red in the center of the page as opposed to in only slightly darker green to the right. I've never used this page before so I had no idea there even was something to select on the right hand side. Finding similar ideas on the Idea exchange

Ack, I had an idea and went to the idea exchange forum. Was wondering if this idea was already there, not wanting to pollute the forum. A "broken vi" search returned 55 hits. I cannot justify the time reviewing these before adding an idea. I'd like to be able to quickly submit an idea without the stress!

Add a few more keywords to the search.
Alternatively, just post the idea and somebody will very quickly point out if it is a duplicate.

Change 'Kudos' to 'Votes' on the idea exchange

Sometime I discuss an idea on another platform than the NI forum (Info-LabVIEW, LAVA, real life) and I advise them to vote for a particular idea on the Idea Exchange. For people foreign to the 'Kudos' term it's sounds strange, while calling it 'Votes' makes it more recognizable.
Kudo is a term mainly used on internet and in youth communities, it might be astranging to more serious programmers.

A use case is found here, where David Ferster made his first post in 8 years to give me moral support after I pointed him to the idea on Info-LabVIEW. What he should have done is make a Kudo to the idea, but being new to the community he didn't knew what to do and did the most natural thing people do on a forum: they post.

Question about the Intel driver for the IDE controller

Greetings to all:
Lenovo has recently published another driver for the IDE controller and I wonder how many of you that have a T60, T60p, T61 and T61p have been able to actually install it.
My controller device is:
Intel(R) 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7-M Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C4,
both in XP-SP3 as in Vista SP1, 32bits versions ( see bellow details of my T60p, which has 2 hard drives)
Interestingly enough the driver on each is v:7.0.0.1020 (2005/05/23) for XP and v:6.0.6001.1800 (2006/06/21) for Vista-B. They are working well as far as I see, but now and several times before, I have tried to update them but they do not install. The message is that I have already the best driver. I noticed that the label of the controller is not quite exactly spell out in the instruction text file or the .inf, and the one that comes close, is that of the so call ICH7-M family.
Why is this? There are at least 7 versions discussed in the history. It it perhaps because the one for the ICH7-M family is always the same? System update does not install them either.
Forgive my curiosity but why bother publishing if they can not be installed? Or perhaps somebody has. This is not logical.

For those who think I can not follow directions.
First, the driver for the Intel IDE device in a T60p is obviously from Intel. But there are two ways to get it fulfilled.
Lenovo publish the Intel drivers with perhaps there own twists, refinements and in the absence of clear contrary information, that they are perhaps more fine tuned to the machine. It uses the following inf files to have them install: iaahci.inf and iastor.inf. They are revised whenever Lenovo fell is necessary and eventually published.
I must assume they are in use if you have a Vista system originally installed by Lenovo and that is why those inf are the ones you find in the updates.
Mi T60p was purchased 2 years ago with XP-Pro, just before the release of Vista, with the understanding of a free upgrade to Vista-B shall be send when finally released. An Indeed they keep their word and send me a Lenovo branded full version of MS Vista-Business, some 4 months latter (not an image). Rather than upgrade XP-Pro and to avoid the time in limbo and work interruption of the Vista less desirable over XP, I did a successful clean install into a new hard drive, followed by a Lenovo system update, which changed many drivers and installed programs, etc. But as you might imagine, the Intel IDE-SATA driver installed is the one provided by MS (v:6.0.6001.1800 of 2006/06/21), (which uses a different installation file mshdc.inf) and, until proven otherwise, I must assume more generic, since it is for any and all machines, following the standard of the hard drive SATA type.
Talking to Lenovo support for nearly 1 1/2 hours last week, was at least not good for my blood pressure, while attempting to explain the issue and refuting a collections of nonsense from the support tech. Eventually a supervisor assure me that the driver was the same and that it has not change for a long time, as it is the same even for XP. Well, why bother with updates if that is the case? But I see that there are others IDE drivers species for animals such as Dell, or HP, etc. Thus you must accept that there is a strong case for a Lenovo modified Intel driver and thus the updates. Tech support could not answer such question, nor they were able to install version 8.6.0.1007 (date 2008/12/04) of the driver.
I fell the machine is working well, but have nothing to compare with (MS Experience Index 4.3). And as usually happened, sometimes you do not appreciate how sick you are, until you get cure. The question remains about the driver been generic and sufficient or specific and optimal.

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!

When you see this path:   /Library   That is your root Library.
Open a Finder window.
Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left then open the LIbrary folder then the Application Support folder, then InputManagers folder, the Receipts folder.
For this path: ~/Library/Application Support (your Home library)
The Tilde character ~ represents your Home folder.
From that same Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar. It has a small house icon. Open the Library folder then the Application Support folder.
Move all the Conduit/CT associated files you posted above to the Trash.
Try Safari.
I've yet to find the launchAgents.plist file in any Safari crash report in years. I don't think that's a problem.
Another way to find files on your hard drive is to go to your Finder.
From the menu bar at the top of your screen click Go / Go to Folder.
Example. Type in: /Library/ApplicationSupport   click Go
Or type in: ~/Library/Application Support   click Go

Getting FIOS Development Team to provide updates on the Idea Exchange

What do we need to do to get the FIOS App Development team to provide updates to the Idea Exchange... We have been trying to get an update on the status of a Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 App, and no one ever seems to want to respond. It was posted and "acknowledged" back in 2012, with no Verizon update since. Every time someone tries to repost the question, it quickly get's move to the old thread and then ignored by Verizon with no other response...

Simulated device capability for the NI USB-6008

I noticed that Nidaq 8.3, does not have simulated device
capability for the NI USB-6008. Is there any way of simulating
this device?

Unfortunately, there is no way to simulate the USB-6008. If you would like to see this functionality in a future revision of NI-DAQmx, I would encourage you to go to the Product Suggestion Center and submit a product suggestion. R&D considers these suggestions when deciding on new features for development.

Also, I invite good definitions for a separate technical forum to be created to discuss Transport and Change Requests questions as those seem to be the ones that frequently populate this forum.

Why not use your description, for me, it explains what I'm hoping for in this forum:
We will discuss Change Management which includes Business Process Improvement changes, new paradigms, new role definitions, and all changes that are needed to make an organization fit for the ESOA requirements.
I'd still suggest "organizational change management" as the new name.
For the technical change management I'd suggest the term "SAP change and transport management" - I think everyone dealing with SAP will understand.
A description for the change and transport forum:
This forum deals with issues concerning technical changes to SAP systems, may it be transports within the ABAP world or SDM questions and problems.
From my point of view it would be good to provide a link to "the other forum" from both of these forums.

Search a waveform for the time or index.

I would like to search a waveform for a particular percentage y value on the waveform and return either the index from which I can genereate the time by mutliplying dt by the index or obtain the time value directly. I tried the search Waveform.vi, but this appears to affect the display of the original waveform. The closest I can get is with the Threshold 1D array.vi.
All the other utilities produce an index of zero or affect the display of the original waveform.

How to create search index files for Java Pet Store

Hi All,
As you may know, the java pet store application uses for the search function a search index object, which itself uses the following files '_36.cfs', 'deletable', 'segments'.
Now as I want to change the data of the database (delete some pets, and names, etc.), it does not have an effect on the search results. This is because the application uses the search index files and does not use the database for the search query.
So can anybody help me and tell me how I can create this three files from my *.sql file, so I can search in my own data?

Netbeans: select build.xml/Run Target/Other Targets/unzipindexes: Tough it should work it fails in resolving $javaee.domaindir$ at least in my system, but it does suscessfully create a new directory named ${jee.domaindir} that includes lib/petstore/searchindex and three files: _36.cfs , deletable, segments.
Copy those three files to your_glasshfish_path/domains/domain1/petstore/searchindex.
Now you are done. I hope that you had a nice time while waiting two years for it to be answered. How is it that it is not answered anywhere else?

Carousel View Better Than Cover Flow For The Finder?

I have been using my .Mac Web Gallery quite a bit lately and I love the new and improved Carousel view. Apple keeps updating it (they added reflections, a nice play/pause scroll bar, and now you can use the scroll wheel (or ball) on your mouse just like Cover Flow in iTunes and the Finder) making it better and better and it has gotten to the point where I think it would make a lot more sense (and look nicer) for Apple to implement it in the Finder in place of Cover Flow. Cover Flow works perfectly for iTunes still (as that's what it was intended for) and I think that it's "Ok" in the Finder in Leopard, but now that Apple has cleaned up the Carousel view so much in the .Mac Web Gallery, I can see it looking PERFECT in the Finder in Leopard. For anyone who's used or seen the Cover Flow view in the Finder, you'll realize what I mean when I say that it's "Ok". The problem with it is that most of the dynamically generated icons in Leopard are not nice squares like the albums in iTunes so the icons off to the sides of the center one look skewed and distorted. The Carousel view would fix that problem while retaining the benefits of the Cover Flow view and, from what I can see, would actually enhance the benefits because the side icons would be easier to see as they are not skewed. All I'm suggesting is for Apple to swap out the Cover Flow view in the Finder for the Carousel view and then the Finder would really SHINE! So, my question to any of you is, "Would you vote for the Carousel view to replace the Cover Flow view in the Finder?" Please let me know any of your ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

I couldn't agree with you more on the custom folder icon issues. I'm beginning to find out what the problem is on that. I have used the newest version of Candy Bar for my Home directory icons and that works fine, but there are some folders that I want to use a different icon for and leave the rest as they are. Candy Bar can't do this for me (as it only works with the generic icons) and so I used Apple's Icon Composer application (in the Developer Tools) to make the correct icon sizes for Leopard and then saved them as .icns but then copying and pasting that on a folder would result in the default ICNS icon and not my custom icon (that was under 10.5.1). So I finally got the custom icon to appear, but it only works for sizes 128x128 and lower, even though I put a 512X512 version in there. That's why it doesn't show up in Cover Flow. For some reason, Leopard "blacks" out anything larger than 128x128 on "Cut and Paste" icons. I found that out by copying my custom icon from the Get Info panel and then opening that in Preview and it shows a black background for the larger icons instead of the alpha channel. I'm still trying to figure this out. Also, IconBuilder seems to be doing the same thing (making and ICNS file) but it seems to work better. I haven't used that since I've upgraded to Leopard but from what I've read it should work, but I don't have Photoshop right now. root folder of a site, but there are no sites defined. Please add a
site.' I have my site all layed out in Dreamweavers FTP, I can
upload and download with it and still Dreamweaver gives me this.

Using FTP & RDS Server for your site means that you will
not be able to use
DW's Templates or Library items. It's usually a very bad
idea, to boot.
