Better xp drivers for gma x3100?

i just installed boot camp (which of course, wasn't included on my default leopard install) on a new macbook with intel gma x3100 graphics hardware. i then installed xp, and the bootcamp drivers.
upon running, i see a fairly limited set of functionality, including a showstopper for my work: no ARB(fragment|vertex)shader extensions.
at any rate, i know the chipset supports it, and some research indicates the latest intel driver supports it. so the question is, how do i install the latest driver? i downloaded it from intel, tried installing, and it fails, with no explanation, halfway in. this driver, in particular:
http://tinyurl.com/33qqaq
is it possible to install new drivers on the xp partition? ideas?
thanks,
bob

ok, i got the drivers to install. no magic, i just thought i ought to be able to install the drivers under vmware - but no. so i rebooted into xp, via boot camp, installed from there fine.
however, intel's provided drivers are really lousy. they support, literally, opengl 1.5 - so that the hardware is capable of vertex, fragment, and geometry shading, you don't get access to that, at least not with GLSL - you do have assembly (ARB(vertex|fragment)program) access. pretty lousy - i expected support on par with what apple provides.
so, if you're expecting to use a macbook (not pro, mind you, just a regular macbook) with xp, and have decent opengl capabilities, think again. get the macbook pro...

There seems to be a web site here http://www.eduscho.at/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/at/-/EUR/TdAtBrowseCat alog-Start?CategoryName=phase_1&Entry=nlpopup
I am not sure, as it seems to be in German, to follow any links to other items that are not groceries or Coffee.
The same with this link http://www.germandeli.com/eduschocoffee.html
I was hoping it would list a name like this bit does
    Hub in Apple Pro Keyboard:
    Version: 1.22
    Bus Power (mA): 500
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Mitsumi Electric
    Product ID: 0x1002
Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Computer, Inc.)
Yours does not seem to list the name which means we can not use that method for finding out what make it actually is.
There was a post in this thread from EZ Jim about using a macam driver.
These I understand are more camera Specific than other drivers which is why we needed a name.

  • Re: Availability of Windows 7 Beta Device Drivers for some Lenovo Thinkpads

I think another point I need to throw in is this, sorry if it annoys the moderators but anyway,
If you are going to post beta drivers into a beta forum full of Lenovo technical users looking to try the latest stuff, then it's probably a good idea to keep some sort of line of communication open in the channel where you just attempted to make the drivers available. Kudos to Lenovo for having this *official* forum and kudos to them for trying to get some Windows 7 drivers out there to satisfy us, but there has to be a point where you turn around and say well look, they can't just get everyone's hopes up, post 10 odd dead links and then disappear for another week or two.
There's got to be some middle ground here, and I don't want to come off as criticising the fine work that I'm sure is going on somewhere, but at the same time a tiny bit more communication would go a long way to making us all feel more at ease, its the same hoopla with the Software Update being pulled, one blast of news and then nothing for ages. I'd rather have broken links and communication than all the downloads working and back to silence again.
I also appreciate that everyone at Lenovo is rather busy and that the people that come here devote what Im guessing is their free time or their already stretched work time to be here, but I'm not asking the world for someone out of a company of what, 21-24 thousand employees strong to check here once a day or something, am I ?
Anyway just my 2 cents, I'm sure I'll get yelled at but thought I'd throw it in anyway.
(Been asking for firmware for F3507G WWAN for nearly 2 weeks now as well to boot, wouldn't kill someone to just come on here and say, no, not gonna happen, we don't issue firmware, or a maybe in two or three weeks when we get round to it, all the more shameful when the likes of Dell and Toshiba have issued the latest firmware for their practically identical WWAN cards weeks ago, never thought I'd see the day where I was slightly envious of either a Dell or a Toshiba owner !)

    JanetL (Nonny):
I see the download links are working again. Thanks to whoever took care of that.
Like those few Lenovo employees roaming around in here, for the most part we customers are also helping out on a volunteer basis by providing feedback to Lenovo and support to other customers - and sometimes potential customers. Perhaps Lenovo should consider creating an official Lenovo-to-customer support and discussion forum (or you could provide a link to it if one exists). Anything that would improve communications from Lenovo to its customers (at this point regarding windows 7 drivers) would be welcomed.
    Thanks,

  • What about the vista drivers for the audigy seri

now that the xifi vista drivers are out, when can we expect the (non-beta) vista drivers for the audigy series?

Actually, you can use the X-Fi-Drivers for the A2ZS. Simply unpack the install-file (e.g. with WinRAR) and run the setup.exe in the "Drivers"-folder. The Audio-Console will be installed too, you'll find it in your "windows/system32"-folder by the name "CtPanel.exe". I use the x64-bit version of Windows Vista, so the AudioConsole for this version couldn't see the installed Audigy-driver for some reason. After I've copied the CtPanel.exe from "yourunpackedinstallfolder/Drivers/wdm/common/i386" to the System32-folder, the Console worked as it should.Because the Console has not the best variety of the options, I've also tried to install the creative-programms from my CD. I could install the "Speaker-Settings"-tool, and it works fine. But the Surround-Mixer seems not to work under Vista, mooving the sliders has no affects on the real volume. I hope, Creative will release the good-working Software-Suite for Windows Vista, I really don't want to argue with the Audio-Console.Message Edited by theLost on 03-08-2007:28 AM

  • Better drivers for the GMA X3100

Hello, i heard that the GMA X3100 is 2x faster than the GMA 950 on Windows.
Now on OS X it is even slower than the GMA 950 in OpenGL.
It must be a very bad driver.
Do anyone of you know how to install a good video card driver on 10.5.6 or to enhance it?
    Thank you for answers.

Is Apple still developing that drivers?

  • Failing to load drivers (xf86-video-intel) for Intel GMA x3100

    Heey,
I'm installing Archlinux on my Compaq 6710b. This is the problem:
No matter what I try, Xorg -configure fails to load the intel drivers for my 965 gma (x3100).
Weird is that a week ago, I did an install with the pre-release iso's and it worked flawlessly detecting everything as it should and by itself. Now with the new iso's I did several installs, but I can't get the xf86-video-intel driver to work, it's giving me the following error message:

When I try to set the intel driver manually by editing xorg.conf in section device, it gives an error saying the driver is not present.
I tried installing from different sources... but nope, the error still remains.
My question is: what is changed since the last iso's before the current that suddenly I get this weird message about the undefined symbol and all. Or am I overseeing some stupid thing here...

    ok,
here is the xorg.0.log when I edit the xorg.conf so that in the section 'device' it says 'intel' in stead of 'vesa'.

  • Macbook GMA X3100 drivers?

    hello everybody,
Does anyone know if there are new drivers or updates for the GMA X3100 grafic card, for my macbook.
When i play a movie or if i do visualities in itunes the grafic card cant handle it,what to do?
    thanx

What do you mean by "can't handle it"? What happens?
How much RAM is in your machine? Are any processes consuming a high amount of CPU when you do these things? You can open up Activity Monitor (Applications>Utilities) to check this. Make sure "All Processes" are being shown (the option is in the upper-right corner) and sort by %CPU. Are any processes consuming high double digit CPU?

  • Beta drivers for Audigy2

Well, the title says what I'm looking for, but here's my problem:
I had installed Quake4, and was playing fine. After I had finished the game, I went to update my drivers (finally,) and noticed that I was running my NX on generic windows drivers. I updated all the drivers, mediasource, etc... (along with some other housekeeping updates,) and I now can no longer open the game.
I've already eliminated the video card update as the problem, and I honestly don't know of a way to eliminate a bios update issue, however, I HIGHLY doubt that is the culprit. After some discussions in the quake disc. boards, I sence that there is a problem with the creative drivers. I have been told that most people are getting success by using the latest beta drivers, and I was linked to a file called "SBA2_PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002.exe" However, when I try to run that file, I'm told that "Setup is unable to detect a supported device on your system..." As the title says Audigy2/ZS, Audigy 4, I'm thinking these are the wrong beta drivers for my device, but I can't find beta drivers for the Audigy2 NX USB
    Help? Thanks...

I have tried re-installing, that isn't working. I'm also hearing that people are having success when installing the OpenAL libs....
I've been trying to get this file: http://developer.creative.com/articl...&top=38&aid=46 however, whenever I try to d/l the file I time-out to a "page unavail." error... Is there some server error at creative? ...or, does anyone know of a mirror server?
The file I'm looking for is: OpenALwEAX.exe

  • Does anyone out there have LabVIEW drivers for either a Z-Mike 1102 (Beta Lasermike) or a Compumotor 6104 (Parker)?

Does anyone out there have LabVIEW drivers for either a Z-Mike 1102 (Beta Lasermike) or a Compumotor 6104 (Parker)?

CompuMotor creates a Motion Toolbox for LabVIEW, but it is not supported by National Instruments.
You can find some support files and downloads for the 6104 from http://www.compumotor.com/support_samples.htm

Good afternoon. Can you tell me, where I can download the beta drivers for the all-in-one HP Deskjet 3070a for Windows8 x64? The software from the disk can not be installed on Windows8, and scanning function does not work without software

Hey Velvetdust. Try using the Install Wizard that is posted in this thread:

  • New BETA drivers for TV@nywhere Master

there was a thread somewhere before where someone had found some updated BETA drivers for the MSI TV@nywhere Master card but it seems to have gone now
i've been using them for a while now, and they're very stable, and the picture quality has improved somewhat
they say they are for the Master version of the card, but i think they may work on the Mega PC version, the only difference is the Master has a AM/FM tuner as well
anyone having stability probs in media center III or MSIPVS might want to try them out and see what happens...
i've uploaded them to my webspace, and you can find them here in ZIP format: http://www.ukshazam.com/downloads/8606Master_drv.zip
please note these are BETA drivers and as such MSI won't support them (as if they do anyway
i'll also post this in the Mega PC forum

As I recall when this BETA driver started flying around the forum, they WERE NOT official or unofficial MSI drivers. They were modified by a user from another forum and someone from this forum posted a link to them. THESE ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO MSI DIRECTLY!! Someone reversed engineered the driver and probly thru extensive testing, via trial and error, was able to clean up the driver to give the result that most have had with them. This doesn't mean that everyone is going to have the same result, which is and has been the reality with any add-on card produced since PC's came out...compatibility issues DO still exist out there and not all systems are going to play in the sandbox well with all add-on cards that are manufactured...something to keep in mind when purchasing new systems...
Furthermore, it's been my experience that proprietary systems (The Pac-10 as I call them...IBM, Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, Sony, eMachine, etc...) have more issues than White Box systems when it comes to add-on compatibility. If you don't know this already, most of these companies DO NOT want you to purchase off the shelf items from Best Buy, CompUSA, etc...they want you to have to come back to them for upgrades and add-on devices, at higher than retail prices, and that's where they make the most profit. Sad reality, but true. Case in point: My first retail purchased PC was a Dell XPS Pentium 100, (my prior PC's were purchased from Michael Dell's garage) I wanted to upgrade it to a 4X CDROM drive and Dell had failed to include the snap in side rails for their new innovative case that was tool-less. So I called up Dell support and asked if these rails were available. The CS Rep told me that they were so I asked how much. She asked me if I had bought the upgraded device from Dell and I said no. Then she informed me that they wouldn't sell them to me ($6.00 US) because I hadn't purchased the upgrade device from them. Needless to say I was pissed. This was circa 1995-96.
Anyway, over the years of doing network consulting, I can't tell you the countless times that I've heard this type of thing on the phone from many of the above listed companies...yes, most have gotten better over the years (Like Dell including all of the rails needed inside the case nowadays) but overall they still have the same mindset and it's much more subtle when they design a motherboard that won't play in the sandbox well with retail bought components...*shrugs*
I got tired of playing their game after a while and started building my own systems. I found White Box isn't always better either but for the most part it's been a far cry easier than buying proprietary...
Just my 2 cents here for what it's worth...

  • Vista Beta Drivers for the Modem Blaster V.92 Serial DE5

I was wondering if there are any beta drivers available for the Modem Blaster V.92 Serial DE562? Thank You, Mike...

Holly cow... a v.92 modem! Christ that's from like, the 90's! You an old timer/ludite by any chance
You could probably get broadband for less.
Regardless, i very much doubt you'll ever find drivers for this piece of kit.
I think it's amazing creative have stated they'll develop Vista drivers for such old hardware.
If you're using the x86 (32bit) version of Vista then the Win XP drivers might work.
If, however, you're using x64 (64bit) you're stuffed. On top of that if you take a look at the manual selection bit down the bottom f the page on the left, you'll see Vista's just not a selectable option.
But it REALLY is time for you to jump on the broadband train man! Low end connections are so cheap and still would be a gazillion times faster than what you're currently using.
