Beware of Oracle training offer from Oraknowledge

If you get an email from a certain Ed Haskins of Oraknowledge.com about specially priced Oracle CD ROM training, do not make the mistake of purchasing these CDs.
My credit card was charged on 2 Sept. I received an email to say that my order will be received within 7-10 days. One month later nothing came so I emailed to ask. No response. I sent an email a week later as a follow-up. No response. I sent an email again yesterday to Miranda and EdHaskins as well as their sales email addresses. Still no response. Interestingly Edhaskins mailbox bounced to say that his quota is over the limit (probably from the many unhappy customers who have not received their orders).
So before you part with your hard earn cash, think whether it's worth the risk with a company that has a blatant lack of customer service and an arrogant attitude. There are more unhappy customers at this site:http://www.examnotes.net/article1022425.html.

well you know what they say about special offers you receive in spam: if it looks too good to be true it probably is.
I have been receiving spam from OraKnowledge long enough to see the mailings cycle through the list of templates. About once a year they press up a load of CD-ROMs for a client who doesn't want them, so OraKnowledge has to flog them cheap. Doesn't seem like a very sound business model to me.
Cheers, APC

    .... The most likely response is from someone training to sell unauthorised learning materials.

  • Resuming train flow from child task flow.

    Hi,
    I created a parent train taskflow with every activity as train stop. I made one of that activity as sub/child taskflow call. That child taskflow has a method call, one jspx view page and return call. I did setup of this task flow as specified in developer manual. Now there is a problem, when I run this train, I am unable to resume parent train activity from child taskflow. Even train navigation does not showed up on child view page. Train run fine till child taskflow and there is just got stuck. Non of the navigation panel showed up on that page and i am unable to navigate to either next or previous page of parent train.
    I am using ADF on Oracle Jdeveloper 11g 11.1.1.0.2. Any help in resolving this issue will be much appreciated.

    Hi,
    if you want to use JavaScript for this then the way it works is
    1. Expose a managed bean method that has access to the RichRegion region that holds the second task flow. On this reagion you call refresh() to refresh the region. The method in the managed bean has a signature of ClientEvent, e.g. refreshMyRegion2(ClientEvent clientEvent){ region2.refresh()}
    2. Add a serverListener (af:serverListener) to the page and use JavaScript to invoke it as explained in chapter 5 of the web application developer guide

  • How to Open an Oracle Apps Screen from a web page

    Hi,
    We have requirement for Opening an Oracle Application screen (say sales order form) directly from a web page.
    I could get the URL of the required screen, but the URL contains an ICX_TICKET number, which is generated dynamically by Oracle Apps. So I can't use a static URL for this.
    Do you know how I can use or generate an ICX_TICKET in runtime? My user will have an active Oracle Application screen opened along with web page. He want to navigate to Oracle Apps screen from Web page. Hopes this makes the requirement more clear.
    Thanks for your time,
    Aneesh

    Hi Helios,
    I have identified a function to generate ICX_ticket. By appending this ticket, I am able to open the Oracle Apps screen. Now, is there in implication on the security side, if I go ahead this way?
    Function
    fnd_gfm.one_time_use_store(icx_sec.GetSessionCookie(CZ_CF_API.ICX_SESSION_TICKET),300,'FORMS_APPLET')
    Anyways, I am raising an SR as u suggested.

    Hi,
    Here is another sample for procedures.Kindly reward points by clicking the star on the left of reply,if it is useful.
    Code Sample for writing a procedure with input and output parameters

    PARAMETERS : p_regno(10) TYPE c DEFAULT 'R1000',
                               p_total     TYPE i.
    data : v_total type i.
    * In this procedure, we are updating the total of a regno given as input.
    * Here two parameters used in the procedure are input parameters.
    * We are updating the record of regno entered in selection screen and
    * adding the total entered to the already existing total. We have to give semicolon
    * for the statement inside procedure.
    exec sql.
    CREATE or replace PROCEDURE PROC1 ( p_regno in char, p_total in number )

    * In this procedure, we are selecting the details for the regno entered

  • How to get Request Offering from given Service Offering using Service Manager SDK?

    Recently, I am working on application where I have to fetch all Request Offering from given Service Offering.
    I can retrieve all Request Offering using following method of SM SDK :
    var requestOfferings = group.Extensions.Retrieve<RequestOffering>();// group is Management Group
    But I am unable to get request Offering from given Service Offering as I am new to this platform. I have searched in web but can not find solution to this problem.
    It would be great if someone guide for this problem or give me any suggestion related to this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    RequestOfferings are handled a little differently in the SDK, but fortunately, they're still backed by standard EnterpriseManagementObjects..it just takes a little work to get them.
    There are a few ways you can go about getting a request offering's related service offerings. I'm going to show you the relationship route, but you could also use a type projection to achieve the same goal.
    In your original post, you're simply retrieving _all_ request offerings..that's fine. If you wanted to retrieve a single request offering (as I do in my example) you need to find the request offering's identifier. This identifier is a pipe delimited string
    of various values. The quickest way to find it, in my opinion, is to query the MT_System$RequestOffering table in the database, but you can also find it by looping through all the RequestOfferings returned by group.Extensions.Retrieve<RequestOffering>();
    Anyway, for the following example to work, you only need your request offering's Identifier and your management server name. (Again, you could simply loop through all of your request offerings and retrieve the service offerings for all of them)
    The comments inline with this example should guide you through the steps.
    //Connect to the management group and prepare the class and relationship types that we'll need.
    String strMySCSMServer = "your server";
    EnterpriseManagementGroup emg = new EnterpriseManagementGroup(strMySCSMServer);
    ManagementPackClass mpcRO = emg.EntityTypes.GetClass(new Guid("8FC1CD4A-B39E-2879-2BA8-B7036F9D8EE7")); //System.RequestOffering
    ManagementPackRelationship relSORelatesToRO = emg.EntityTypes.GetRelationshipClass(new Guid("BE417A55-6622-0FC3-FCEA-90CD23E0FC23")); //System.ServiceOfferingRelatesToRequestOffering
    //An example of an extension identifier looks like this:
    //1|My.RO.MP|1.0.0.0|Offeringc921c4feujhoi8cdsjloiz352d7gf3k0|3|RequestOffering
    String strRequestOfferingIdentifier = "your request offering identifier";
    //Retrieve the request offering using an Extension Identifier.
    ExtensionIdentifier ei = null;
    ExtensionIdentifier.TryParse(strRequestOfferingIdentifier, out ei);
    RequestOffering ro = emg.Extensions.Retrieve<RequestOffering>(ei);
    //Using the request offering's Identifier, retrieve the enterprise management object that it represents
    EnterpriseManagementObjectCriteria emocRO = new EnterpriseManagementObjectCriteria("ID = '" + ro.Identifier + "'", mpcRO);
    IObjectReader<EnterpriseManagementObject> orROs = emg.EntityObjects.GetObjectReader<EnterpriseManagementObject>(emocRO, ObjectQueryOptions.Default);
    //Since we queried for only a single Request Offering, the object reader should contain 0 or 1 elements.
    EnterpriseManagementObject emoRO = null;
    if (orROs.Count > 0)
    emoRO = orROs.ElementAt(0);
    else
    Console.WriteLine("No Request Offering found");
    //Now, using the relationship type "System.ServiceOfferingRelatesToRequestOffering", get all Service Offering's related to our request offering
    IList<EnterpriseManagementRelationshipObject<EnterpriseManagementObject>> lstEMROs = emg.EntityObjects.GetRelationshipObjectsWhereTarget<EnterpriseManagementObject>(emoRO.Id, relSORelatesToRO, DerivedClassTraversalDepth.None, TraversalDepth.OneLevel, ObjectQueryOptions.Default);
    //The GetRelationshipObjectsWhereTarget method returns a list of EnterpriseManagementObjectRelationships..These objects represent that relationship between two objects.
    //Thus, these relationship objects have two properties of interest; TargetObject and SourceObject. In this case, service offerings are the source of this relationship type and
    //so, you can access the service offering object itself by using the relationship object's SourceObject property (which is nothing more than an EnterpriseManagementObject)
    foreach (EnterpriseManagementRelationshipObject<EnterpriseManagementObject> emro in lstEMROs)
    //emro.SourceObject is your Service Offering object. You can use it for whatever you need from here on out. In this example, i'm just writing out the DisplayName
    EnterpriseManagementObject emoServiceOffering = emro.SourceObject;
    Console.WriteLine(emoServiceOffering[null, "DisplayName"].Value);
    Give it a try, let me know if you have any questions :)

  • How can I book an employee for a training program from PD?

    HI One and All,
    Hope all of you Doing well...
    I configured Personal Development and Training Event Management.
    When I go for Profile Match-up, I found that One employee is lack-off some skills. I have a training program to fill those skills. How can I book that employee for training program from Pofile match-up screen?
    Or is there any other way to book an employee for a training program from PD?
    Thnaks,
    Potru,

    Hi Priya,
    Thanks for your response, I check the option Generate training Praposals before running the profile match-up. I have created one training Event type (D) and i assigned qualification through A-028 relation.
    Here one employee is lack of MS Office excellent skills for Assistant Manager position, I created Training Event (D) called MS Office training and assigned the qualification for this training program.
    when I run profile match-up I got an Icon Training praposal (Tree symbol).
    and also I have a column called Training , but it is blank.
    I want to book that employee for that training progam (MS offcie training program), from Profile match-up screen.
    I have selected the employee and I click on the Icon called Further Training. But the message is like Choose a valid line.

  • How to fetch oracle process id from a stored procedure.

    Hi,
    I want to fetch the oracle process id from within a stored procedure.
    I know that the one way to do this is using the v$process view. But, a grant has to be given to the user on this table. Due to the strict policies at my workplace, I do not have the permission to do this, nor can i ask anyone to give the grant. But, i need the oracle pid very much.
    Is there an alternate way to get the oracle process id from within the stored procedure (without using the v$process view, like we have sys_context() to fetch session id without using v$session) ?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    AP

    Hi,
    The point is i do not want to use v$process ( or v_$process) ,because i can not give the select grant to the user on this view. ( As i need to fetch it from a stored procedure, not from the SQL prompt).
    Rahul , your query is correct. It fetches the values ( though i needed oracle process id not unix pid ; i would get it through p.pid), but i need an alternate approach to this.
    Is there an alternate approach which would enable me to fetch the oracle process id ( without using any of the V$ - system views) ? Does Oracle has such a feature /approach ?

  • Cannot connect properly to Oracle on Linux from Windows

    Good day all,
    I’ve got 2 virtual machines running on my Mac:
    -     Centos 5.4 with Oracle 11gR2
    -     Windows 2003 server with Oracle 10gR2
    From Linux box I have access to Oracle database on Windows box (both directly and via a database link), however from Windows I have problems accessing the oracle database on the Linux box.
    From Windows, if I try to set up a connection using Oracle’s SQL Developer using connection type “Basic”, I get “IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection”. When I use “TNS”, then it works.
    From the linux box it all works fine as the “oracle” user, but when I log on as another user (in this case “informatica”) it doesn’t work properly any more.

    [ the sequence of dots means I took out a whole lot or lines with virtually the same information, only different port(s) ]
    What’s noticeable is that port 1521 seems solely assigned to the localhost IP-address, 127.0.0.1.
    Another thing I noticed is that from a different user in Linux, so not “oracle”, using SQL Developer I cannot access the local Oracle database via TNS. When choosing TNS the dropdown box for “Network Alias” – which normally is populated with entries from TNSNAMES.ORA – is completely empty. On a “users and groups” level I basically assigned all the groups the oracle user is member of, to the other user (called informatica).
    And to make it even more interesting, at first it worked using “Basic” (in SQL Developer), but since implementing the TNS_ADMIN environment variable, it doesn’t work at all !!!
    Trying it via SQLPLUS as the “informatica” doesn’t work either:
    [informatica@ilmserver ~]$ sqlplus system
    bash: sqlplus: command not found
    I’ve assigned the “dba” group to “informatica”, or rather, I have assigned all groups to the “informatica” user as the “oracle” user has.
    Needless to say I am no Linux expert, rather a quite inexperienced Linux-user.
    So bottom line, the situation I’d like to be able to create is the following:
    •     Linux Oracle DB accessible from “informatica” (or any other) user on Linux, via both TNS and java-based
    •     Linux Oracle DB accessible from remote machine (running Windows 2003 server) via both TNS and java-based
    •     And for Informatica to work properly, it says it needs the TNS_ADMIN environment variable, so the “informatica” user must have full Oracle connectivity with TNS_ADMIN in place.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Patrick

    Hi Billy,
    Thanks for your elaborate answer.
    Not sure whether I can use it though, since the application using the oracle database (i.e. Informatica ILM 5.3.2) appears to have a specific need for TNS.
    I thought I had a solution (not the prettiest for sure) by just copying TNSNAMES.ORA to an accessible location, change ownership to "informatica" user, have TNS_ADMIN point to it, and Bob should be my uncle. Well... he isn't!
    In SQL Developer when I choose TNS as connection type, the drop down box is STILL empty.....aaaaahhhh!!!!!
    I was advised to play around with primary groups, so I tried oinstall and dba as primary groups for informatica user, all to no avail.
    And I can't even test it with SQLPLUS because I don't have access to it as "informatica".
    Who knows what the exact reason for that is... I know I'm a far cry from an experienced linux user, but I assumed that having the Oracle Home bin directory in PATH, and assigning the oinstall group to informatica user, would ensure access to to any executable in there. Well... NOT!!!
    +[informatica@ilmserver ~]$ sqlplus system@orcl+
    bash: sqlplus: command not found
    This is driving me nuts. Thought that finding a solution for this wouldn't be this hard, but essentially I've been digging for 3 days now.

  • Steps to export and import oracle 10g databse from AIX to AIX and LINUX

    Hi,
    I need the steps to export the oracle 10g database from AIX server to AIX server and LINUX server.
    Please give me all the steps as this is my first exort an import activity.
    thanks,

    For 10g there exist two ways to do so.
    1) Regular exp/imp.
    2) Data pump expdp/impdp.
    As this is your first export and import activity, relevant concept understanding is mandatory for you.
    Documentation Link
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/toc.htm
    Read the chapters 1,2,3 (Data pump expdp/impdp) and 19 (regular exp/imp). Good luck.

  • Oracle 10g update from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4

    Hi all,
    I like to update oracle 10g database from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 by applying patch sets, would one please suggest me the best way.
    I am planning to do in the way explained below
    method:
    # Install new Oracle Home
    # Apply the patch to the new Home
    # Shut down the database
    # Change Oracle Home to the new location
    # Start the database
    Can you one suggest me how to do "Change Oracle Home of database to the new location" and back to older oracle_home incase if there are any issues, how to do and what changes requried to make database is run without any probs..
    Thanks in advance..

    If you do it the best way is to read and follow the docs ... not ask strangers if they agree with a small number of bullet points.
    But I disagree with your entire direction. 10gR2 goes into desupport mode at the end of this month. Why move to something that will be desupported before you get there? Why not 11.1.0.7 or 11.2.0.1?
    If you must stay with 10g for awhile at least go to 10.2.0.5.
