BEx Analyzer input help default setting

Dear forum,
at our BW system the F4 input help popup's in BEx Analyzer 7.0 show up by default the latest used values ("history"). Is it possible to change this behavior for some InfoObjects or variables so that the selection "single values" is displayed by default?
Thanks in advance!
Anna

Hello Ravi,
I think I have to explain via screenshot. When opening the input help by default the user gets the view 'history', in this example for fiscal year / period:
For some users it's confusing that within the history the periods are mixed up and some are 'missing' (indeed they are not missing but weren't used yet).
So by default I would like to bring up the setting 'single values' when opening the input help:
I hope it's more clearly now.
Thank you very much!

  • BEx Variable Input Help (F4) Maximum Number of Rows

    Hi Experts,
We using Bex 3.x version. Now, the user is asking to change the maximum number of rows (by default 500, for my case) to 1000. (While executing the workbook, on the variable pop-up screen where we can search for input help (F4) values). For surely, there is some global setting needs to be corrected but not sure. I have checked in T-code: SPRO and some of the threads but not get the apt solution.
Could you please share us your inputs/experiences as how can we increase maximum number of rows in the input help.
    Many thanks in advance!!!
    Best Regards

    Hello Venkat,
Is there is a way to setup that, you will find into this KBA Article (SAP Note):
    > 1565809 - Settings for BW query F4 help
This is a really good documentation about how F4 works and how to setup the configurations and where you have to do that.

  • Drop-Down-Box (F4 Input Help) for formula variable in BEx Analyzer (BI 7.0)

    Hi Gurus,
is it possible to get a drop down box for a ready for input formula variable in the BEx Analyzer (not BEx Web!)?
We want to let the users choose scaling factors 1, 1000 or 1000000 (implemented via this formula variable). In the settings of the formula variable you can only choose a default value but there seems to be no option to provide all three factors in a drop down box like the ones for characteristic value variables.
We could prevent other entries in the variable pop up via customer exit (i_step 3) but the business is wishing an F4 input help like the ones for characteristic values.
    Thanks for your help,
    Marco

    Hi Macro,
Its not possible to get drop down box for a ready for input formula variable. Because it is possible only for characterstic value variables but not formula variable.u donnot get any drop down box like ready for input for formula variable.

  • Setting Default Global Settings for Bex Analyzer 7 for all users

We need to set default settings for Bex Analyzer Global Settings when we install SAP-GUI 7.2 in our user's workstations. The current default settings are that all of them are turned off. We would rather not have to run around and change each of our 1,000 user's settings.

for setting the legacy version setting use the below string in the registry

  • Max number of entries in the variable input list (F4) of Bex Analyzer Query

    Dear BW experts,
When I run the Bex Analyzer query, it pops up the variable input screen.
If I don't know the specific value of the variable, then I can click on the input help (F4) to get a list of available values.  There is a max number of entries coming back to the list.  For my BW system, it is currently returning 500 values.  For other people and SAP Help document, it could be 1000.
My question is: Do you know where we can configure/set this max value? Is it a global setting?
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
    Kevin-

    Murali & Pra,
Thanks for both of your answers.  I think the answers that you provided are for BW 7.X version.
It is flexible and exactly the way it should be for each user to customize a specific variable.
I am running BW 3.5 query, and don't see the "Settings" option/button after I got the list of single values back.
Is there a way to set this up for BW 3.5 query Analyzer?  My max value is always 500 for all variables.  Is there a place for setting this value and save for the next time.
Any help from any BW experts is appreciated.

  • Bex analyzer variable screen input ready?

    Hi Experts,
If we open a query in the Bex analyzer (BI 7.0 – netweaver 2004s), it seems only possible for us to enter variables in the dialog screen after the pushbuttons Ctrl + K for each variable.  Is it possible to change the default setting in the BEx analyser variable screen, so that the variables are ready for input (without the ctrl + k)?
In the SAPhelp information, only the following information is provided.
    Prerequisites
In the BEx Analyzer, you have executed a query that contains variables and you want to change or personalize one or all of the variables in the query.
    Procedure
    1.      In the analysis toolbar, choose Change Variable Values or in the menu, choose BEx Analyzer ® Change Variable Values.
The Select Values for Variables dialog box appears. Follow the instructions to select a value to assign to the variable.
    2.      Specify a variant name and values for the variables for which you want to change the current values.
Switch to display mode or use the pushbuttons Ctrl + K to enter values.
    Kind regards
    Dennis

    Hello All,
We have a similar issue only in 2004s query designer when we execute a query via the web. We have the variable set up to accept multiple single values and we can pick multiple single values and add them, however, we cannot paste a list of, for example, personnel numbers from an excel spreadsheet into the web selection box to add multiple single values at one time.  Does this functionality exist?

  • Customization of new NW04s BEx Analyzer default view?

Can the default view displayed when a query is executed in the new NW04s (7.0) BEx Analyzer be customized -- perhaps for company branding, disabling/enabling certain functions, etc -- similar to the way the default/standard web templates can be modified?  If so, how would you go about doing that?
    Thanks,
    Rod

    Thanks Heike...
Based upon the referenced documentation I can believe I understand how to create my own default workbook with/for the NW04s BEx Analyzer and toggle between it, the system default for me, and the SAP default (the 3 buttons on the Global Settings ... Select Default Workbook view).
However, the document indicates "There is one default workbook per user in a system which can be set by the system administrator".  How/where would an administrator do that?  There is a "global default" flag in the Global Settings view which I don't see discussed in the documentation -- not sure if this factors in, if so how an administrator would go here to make a user-specific setting, etc.
    Any additional help appreciated,
    Rod

  • I defaulted input help field (pick list) but SAP CRM still asking for one

We are running SAP CRM 7.0.
Some fields as you know are dialog / pick list fields.
What I mean by this is they are input help fields where you
can click a little square (in sap crm 7.0) to the right of the text box
and it brings up a dialog screen of values that you can select from.
Here is an example screen shot of what I am talking about:
    http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/5676/imageschak.png
So what I have done is implemented the GETTER function for this input help field so that by default it has a value.
    The code is like so:
    method GET_CURRENCY.
    CALL METHOD SUPER->GET_CURRENCY
      EXPORTING
        ATTRIBUTE_PATH = attribute_path
       ITERATOR       = iterator
      RECEIVING
        VALUE          = value.
          if value eq ''.
            IF sy-langu EQ 'E'.
              VALUE = 'USD'.
            elseif sy-langu EQ 'D'.
              VALUE = 'EUR'.
            ENDIF.
          endif.
    endmethod.
Here even is a link to this method that I created: Field Currency of Context Node BTADMINH - How to set default
The method works great it sets the default of the currency to say USD.  When I click the create button to create an opportunity the field currency is set to USD, this is great because it makes my job easier that I dont have to click the input help button and select a currency, it is already there.
But once I click the "Save" button for an opportunity I get a small error in the error notification box that tells me I need to select a currency!  But why is this happening a currency already exists?  So If I click the input help (the little button) and reselect the currency value USD then save my opportunity this error goes away.
The question is why does this happen?  I need it so that the default currency value is recognized by the SAP CRM system.  Why do I have to go back in and re-select the currency if it is already set?  Is there some sort of consistency check or something I need to do to eliminate this problem?
Here is a screen shot after creating an opportunity with the default Currency set to USD (this means I did not select USD in the dialog input help it was defaulted by the getter method:
    http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/3011/enteracurrency.png
Only if I go back into edit mode and actually click the little square to bring up the dialog of values and select USD does this error go away.  Why does this happen ?

I called SET_CURRENCY right after setting my value and the error is now gone.
      SET_CURRENCY( EXPORTING ATTRIBUTE_PATH = ATTRIBUTE_PATH
                    iterator = iterator
                    value = value ).

  • IP - Issues with Input Query: Works on Bex analyzer but not on Web

    I am doing the following:
Created a Aggregation level for a multi provider which has only real time infoproviders associated with it
Created the query using Bex Query Designer availing all the options for planning
When I execute this query it executes using a web template and does not open up the Key Figure cells for input, I had tried using the Web Application designer with Save button but still the same issue
I tried the same on Bex analyzer and it works fine
Please help to resolve the above issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ram,
Cells should be input enabled on the web just running the query. No need to create a Webtemplate, altough you need to have the webtemplate to be able to use the "save data" function.
Maybe your query is not input ready at all, and you're misinterpreting analyzer layout.
To test this, please enter some plan data in analyzer, right click and choose "save".
Please check if data is written to the real time infoprovider.
    Hope this helps you.

    Miguel P.

  • Setting keyboard input to default to phone

Trying to figure out how to set my keyboard input to default to the phone, NOT to search or any other text-based input. I want to be able to type a phone number into my phone and call someone. Is this too much to ask? I have spent hours trying to figure this out and can't find an answer. Help please! And thanks.

I don't think so, that I know of.
Are most of your calls all dialed by number or are there a few numbers you dial quite often?
You can set a screen shortcut to those.

  • BEx Input Help Values Restricted

    Dear Gurus,
In our project, we navigate the attribute "0SALESORG" of "0PLANT" and use it on the report. In Sales Transactions, there is another 0SALESORG in our multiprovider. The problem occurs when I set 0SALESORG and 0PLANT as BEx variable input. When I select one sales org, the input help values of plant are restricted corresponding to the sales org. Below are the steps.
       1) If I input Sales Org = 7081, the possible values of plants are restrcted to "NU01" which is under sales org 7081 only.
        2) If I do not input any Sales Org, all the possible values of plants are displayed (such as LK11, LJ11,etc).
If I input only Plant = LJ11, LK11, there are transactions with Sales Org 7081 and Plant = LJ11, LK11 in the infocube as below picture.
What I want is I want to input Sales Org 7081 and then further input plant LJ11, LK11. (However, when I input Sales Org 7081, only the plant NU01 is available on the Search Help screen.)

In our business scenario, 1 sales org can pick and sell materials from plants of other sales organization. As in the last screen, sales org 7081 can sell material from plants LJ11 (under sales org 6451) and plant LK11 (under sales org 6461).
However, with the restriction, I can't input the sales org 7081 and then input plant LJ11 or LK11. It just shows plant NU01 (under sales org 7081)
By the way, the variables I currently used are on 0SALESORG (not Attibute) and 0PLANT already

  • SAP BEX Analyzer Set values for variables

Please help us out in sorting out this problem,
We are automating BEx Analyzer for a Testing Project with Quick Test Professional (QTP) a functional automation tool uses VB script.
    Problem:
There are 5 steps in automation
    Invoke BEx Application
    Log in to BEx server
    Run Query
Set values for Variables for Query
    Display Report
We are able to do 1,2,3 steps using BEx API functions and running BEx macros but we struck up with 4th step,
    1. Invoke BEx Application
    ‘Launch Excel
    Dim app
    Set app = createobject("Excel.Application")
    ‘Make it visible
    app.Visible = true
    ‘Attach add-in to Excel file

    3. Run a Query
    app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'! runQuery", "ZZCCA3_M01_Q0003"
Till here the script is running fine then the “Select values for Variables” window is displayed.
This is where exactly we struck up; in this window we need to select values.
    Name of the Fields
Field Name     Technical name of characteristic     Variable Name     Value
    1     Company Code                     0COMP_CODE     ZM_COMPCODE     1000

    5     Fiscal Year     0FISCYEAR     0P_FYEAR     2007
To select values for variables, we are trying below code but its giving an error,
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “1000”, "0COMP_CODE"
    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “1000MDON”, " 0COSTCENTER "

    app.Run  "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", “2007”,  " 0FISCYEAR"

  • Setting Input help mode Dynamically/ Programatically

    Hi All,
I am using a SAP  satndard Component  . which is using Component USage for displaying ALV.
But for this its populating the Context as well as data dynamically.
Now I found that in the alv for a field while am pressing f4 button its calling the ON_OVS Method.
How it is setting the ON_OVS call property because generally when we create any context element
its by default sets the INPUT help mode type to Automatic.
My requirement is to change the input Help mode to Free programing type instead of OVS .
    Can it be done ?
Because if we are creating an elemnt in the context there is always option for selecting
which kind of F4 help we need . Similarily Programtically how we will set the F4 help Kind ......

    Hi Surya,
    You need to do following:
    1) Create your own help component . Please check this [article|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50fd6096-a4b6-2d10-bfa8-bbd9001e0d0e?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] for reference.
    2) After that you can enhance your standard component and in the Post exit of the method where context i created you can set the input help to freely programmed mode as suggested above.
    I hope it helps.

    Sumit
