BeX-Analyzer : no visible role and working-sheets

Hello experts,
after creating new working-maps under a role, i can't find it anywhere for the next day.
For example: After launch BeX-Analyzer 7.0 -- then open working-map -- then connect over BW/BI Developer-System -- then
roles. I can't find my saved user-working-maps or local objects who are saved one day before. They were under the "PFCG-created"
user-role : "example :Z_Role_External_".
When i open the map : QUERIES, i have the include for user-role and can manage and call the designed sheets
in my workaround.
In this case one more information that happens before this items. In the last week i had patched the BW-BI 7.0 with then following patches.

After this action i heard from this problem in BW-BI "No User-Role and no Test-working-maps" under my User-Profile.

BEx analyzer variable screen Copy and paste the input values functionality

Hi all,
in bw 3.5 we have functionality on the variable screen we can do directly copy the values and paste in the input screen. But in BI 7.0 BEx analyzer I am not able to find it. Is it required to apply any patches?
Please guide me on this.

We have a similar issue only in 2004s query designer when we execute a query via the web. We have the variable set up to accept multiple single values and we can pick multiple single values and add them, however, we cannot paste a list of, for example, personnel numbers from an excel spreadsheet into the web selection box to add multiple single values at one time. Does this functionality exist?

BEx Analyzer with GUI 720 and MS Office 2010 does not work

I have recently installed SAP GUI 720 with BEx addon (7 and 3.x) on a computer with Office 2010 and Windows 7.
All BEx components work fine except Analyzer 7.
When starting Analyzer 7 nothing happens.
I have tried instead starting transaction RRMX from a BI system but this generates a short dump.
Does anyone have an idea about what could be the problem?

guess its issue with Excel Addins. i rectified the same issue by enabling the excel addins.go to Application wizard. and change the please find the screenshot . let me know if it works

BEx Analyzer - Workbook: How to delete a sheet?

Hi,
I created a Workbook in Excel 2013 Add-in BEx Analzyer.
With "Bex Analysis Toolbar: Tools: Copy Sheet" I copied the original sheet 2 times, renamed the sheet, configured the queries and so on:
Now I want to delete the sheet "Workcenter" - there is no menu-option for it and you can not right-click the sheet in Design Mode. The only way to delete the sheet that I found is to right-click the sheet and select "Delete".
The sheet gets deleted, but when I click now on "Change Variable Values" Excel thinks and thinks and never ever stops nor lets the user interact with Excel anymore. You can only kill Excel in the Task Manager. If you save the Workbook after deleting the sheet and close the workbook and reopen it, you have the same result, Excel never stops thinking (cant remember if before or after the variable screen, but in the end it is the same result - a non-working workbook)
So, how can I delete the sheet properly?

Thank you for your replies - I solved the problem.
The issue was that the sheet I tried to delete was the ORIGINAL sheet of the workbook - the one that I usedcopy two more times with "Bex Analysis Toolbar: Tools: Copy Sheet".
It seems that you can not delete the original sheet without further problems. Probably the Chart/Information/Filter buttons are somehow related to the original sheet.
I solved the problem by deleting one of the 2 other sheets and modified the layout in the original sheet (that i wanted to delete in the first place) to the layout of the sheet that I actually deleted.

My "Windows Azure Cloud Service" project consists of one web role (.NET MVC) and one worker role, they are working fine under "Emulator".
The web role project is orginally a Azure web site application which is converted to a web role project and the connectionstring is located in the web role application

is first created, we run a DatabaseInitializer to do things like create the database if it's not there or add seed data. The default DatabaseInitializer tries to compare the database schema needed to use the model with a hash of the schema stored in an EdmMetadata
table that is created with a database (when Code First is the one creating the database). Existing databases won’t have the EdmMetadata table and so won’t have the hash…and the implementation today will throw if that table is missing. We'll work on changing
this behavior before we ship the fial version since it is the default. Until then, existing databases do not generally need any database initializer so it can be turned off for your context type by calling:
Database.SetInitializer<YourDatabaseContext>(null);

Scaling of VM Roles and Worker Roles, why divide by total?

I am trying to tweak with the auto-scale settings and it is my understanding that the CPU load is divided among the total number of instances within the Role.
I get this in concept.
However, what I am seeing is that if I have two instances in my availability group, and I have one instance running. That if I set the CPU load slider too high, my new instance never turns on / provisions.
It is as if the calculation is always averaging among the total possible - therefore if one is at 100% CPU, then that equates to 50% CPU. And if my slider is set to 60%, my second VM never turns on. (I left it running all night this way once to see).
Where what I think the slider should mean is that I never want a single instance to go beyond 60% utilization, if it does then give me another instance.
Am I following this properly?
Since I only have the scaling metric of CPU (since I don't have a Service Bus queue) I have to use it wisely and make sure that it reacts when appropriate - and in my case I might want it to scale out at 40% to ensure that there is no negative
user experience.
And right now, I am not seeing that I can make that happen.

autoscaling per CPU is compared with the average CPU usage of all instances of the role.
so if you set the bottom bar is 20% and have 2 instances running there with CPU usage 37% and 4%, azure fabrci will autoscale it to 3 instances, because average cpu is 20.5% and beyond the bottom bar.
actually, autoscaling based on cpu works as below:
All instances are included when calculating the average percentage of CPU usage and the
average is based on use over the previous hour. Depending on the number of instances that your application is using, it can take longer than the specified wait time for the scale action to occur if the wait time is set
very low.
As a result, if you have an app that is at 0% load, and then start running a load test to make it go to 100% (and have a scale-up target of 80%) it will take at least 45 minutes before
the scale action will start. However, this is not a typical real-world scenario. It’s more likely that your load is already high (say 75%). In this scenario, it would take much less time to trigger the scale action.
One of the reasons that we do an hourly average is, with the current platform, it’s impossible to get metrics from Virtual Machines or Cloud Services under a 15 minute latency.
So, if we scaled based just on the last 5 or 10 minutes, we would never have data to scale on. You can see this in the screenshot below, it was taken around 5:30, but the most recent data point is at 5:15.
In the future, the azure platform is looking at ways to speed up metric collection, but this is likely not coming for quite some time. As a result, the best we can do is a rolling
average over a larger time window.

Hello Gurus,
I have a key figure 0Subtotal1. This KF contains both negative and positive figures.
For eg; +10, -20, -30.
In Query Analyzer, I need the column total as 60 and not
-40.
Can I use a formula and use the ABS function...
Any clue....

u can make -ve sign as positive in the query.
Go to query properties in the query designer, then click on display tab->there u will find in the number format block settings for the display of -ve numbers....u can change them to positive there...

BEx Analyzer not working in SAP GUI 7.10

Dear All,
BEx Analyzer 7.0 is not working on SAP GUI 7.10. Following are the details:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Installed the following softwares (in the sequential order):
1. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 SP1
2. MS Office 2003 (without any service packs)
3. SAP GUI 7.10 (used SAPAllSetup.exe) to install both BEx Analyzer 3.5 and BEx Analyzer 7.0 alongwith SAP GUI 7.10.
While BEx Analyzer 3.5 runs fine, 7.0 does not.
Upon running BEx Analyzer 7.0 from the Programs menu, I see a toolbar on the left hand side on MS Excel in German. Whenever I click on any button, they do not respond.
When I tried to install update for Office 2003 (KB907417), I received the message stating the patch has already been applied.
I also applied SAP GUI 7.10 Patch Level 8, but still the problem remains the same.
Running Tcode RRMX from the SAP GUI opens MS Excel with both the toolbars of 3.5 (on top) and 7.0 (on left). As before, 3.5 works fine, while 7.0 does not.
Do I need to install Office SP2 or SP3, as well? Or something else? Any solutions?

This problem is due to .NET 2.0 assembly(nothing but .dll's),
Step1 : Check if you can see this C:\WINNT\assembly\GAC exists
If it does and still getting the error, then follow these steps,
1) Uninstall office03
2) Uninstall GUI
3) Uninstall .Net 2.0
4) Reboot
5) Install .dll(WindowsXP-KB935448-x86-dll.exe) fix(this is due to .net1.1 and 2.0 coexistence)----- only if u get a critical message at startup.
5a) Reboot
5b) Install .net1.1
5c) Reboot
5d) Install .net2.0
5e) Reboot
6) Install office 03
6a) Reboot
7) Install .PIA's (O2003PIA.MSI)
7a) Reboot
8) Install setupall.exe for GUI
9) Install KB907---- (office2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe)
10) Reboot
Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Update the Latest Patchs of GUI & Bex.

BEx Analyzer report "New Formula", "Scaling Factor" property not working

Hi Experts,
I have created a New Formula(Ex:- Dispatches * 2) in BEx Analyzer report. The result of the "New Formula" is 2000. When I maintain Scaling Factor as "1000" to the New Formula properties, the result should be 2 but here 2000 is coming again.
When I maintain this property to the existing keyfigure in Analyzer report, it is working fine.
Please help me in this whether Scaling Factor can be applied to the New Formula or not in BEx Analyzer report. If it works, what changes we have to make to the New formula.

Is the variable ABC the new one that you've created with Scaling factor setting given? The message you get on doing a syntax check on the query indicates that settings are ignored for use beyond the query.
And if this is the case, this is a known issue.
However such settings will work on existing keyfigures as it is in your case.
What you can hence do for this new variable is that if you are developing reports on top of this bex query, you can make the scaling factor setting at the report level.

August 2014 Scheduled Maintenance - Are Web and Worker Roles affected?

Are Web and Worker Roles affected by the Scheduled Maintenance that will be performed on Aug 2, 2014? The email that I received from Microsoft Azure states that it will affect VMs and Cloud Services and goes on to say how to keep your VMs available
despite the maintenance by setting up Availability Sets for VMs, but does not mention a strategy for Web and Worker roles.
What am I missing here?

Yes, the Web and Worker Roles are also affected by the scheduled maintenance as the web roles and worker roles are residing on the hardware that will go on maintenance.
The Cloud Service deployments will also reboot during the maintenance. You can increase the number of instances running for your web roles and worker roles to avoid being affected:

BEX Analyzer Send button not working

When we go to BEX Analyzer, run a report and then click on the Send button, we don't get the Send email screen. All we get is a blank IE pop-up. Any help?? We have SCOT configured properly.

Can system use 7.0 AA while using 3.5 BEx Analyzer?

I seek your help here. I understand that there is a setting in SPRO that controls what security is being checked in BW system i.e. old 3.5 security or new 7.0 Analysis Auth security. Until, we explicitly set this setting to use new BW 7.0 AA, system checks access restriction against 3.5 roles & auth. This happens even when you are using 7.0 BEx Analyzer to run queries and workbooks. This scenario is not supported but still it works.
Once we change the setting in SPRO, and move to 7.0 AA security, system starts checking access restriction against 7.0 AA.
My question is, does this hold true even when we are using 3.5 BEx Analyzer?

Hi Purvang,
In BI 7.0, you can enable the analysis authorizations either from SPRO settings, or using transaction code RSCUSTV23.
The authorization mode should be set to Current procedure with Analysis Authorizations, if you wish to enable AA.
However, BEx basically check what authorization mode is set. If you are using BEx 3.5 with Analysis authorizations enabled, it will still check for the authorization restrictions at the InfoObject level.
Viceversa, if the AA mode is disabled and set to "Obsolete concept with RSR Authorization objects", the Analysis authorizations will not be checked, even though you use the latest version of BEx.

Change the layout of a query items in BEx analyzer

Hi,
I had developed a query, so when it is viewed in BEx analyzer the items(Char and Keyfigures) that i had used in rows and columns are displayed in analyzer.
Apart from this in report i can see the items i had used,
in top corner.
So i need to change the layout of these items in top corner ie. 1. all charac
2. all keyfigures
or combination of both in priority wise, is it possible.

You can delete them from Query output and Save it as workBook.Then Open the workbook.You will not see them again whenever you open your workbook.
Right click on result area of output>properties>interaction tab-->enable 'Refresh Query when opening workbook' and save the work book so that whenever workbook is opened,you will get selection screen.
Pl dont forget to reward points if it helps.

BEx Broadcaster is disabled in BEx Analyzer

Dear all,
The BEx Broadcaster function in the BEx Analyzer is disabled. It works fine in the Query Designer. Is there any one know how to enable it or is there any configuration that I should do?

Look into the SAP Help.
"The Broadcaster option is only visible when a workbook is open. If you only open a query in the BEx Analyzer, this broadcasting option is not available."
